"Come back here you brats! We're going to show you what happens to villains!"

Shouta was just turning in the direction of the yells when two small bodies crashed into him, causing him to stumble and drop the bag of cat food in his arms.

"Hurry up, Ki-chan, we have to get out of here!" the little purple-haired boy tugged on the arm of his much taller green-haired friend. The smaller of the two children couldn't have been more than six. Tattered clothing and skin covered in bruises and scrapes led Shouta to wonder where the childrens' parents were.

As the purplette struggled to help his much larger friend up, a group of teenage boys came running out of the alley behind them. The shortest towering over the taller child. "We've got you now!" The boy in front exclaimed, ice forming over his fist.

Shouta stepped in front of the two smaller children, catfood forgotten. "What is going on here!"

The six boys skidded to a halt, eyes widening at the sight of an adult. "We're gonna teach that little villain some manners, don't get in ourway," the ringleader exclaimed, taking a menacing step towards Shouta's deceptively slender form only to gasp as the ice disappeared from his hand.

"That is not a villain, that is a child." Shouta replied, hair standing on end and eyes glowing red.

"Hey, what happened to my Quirk!" One of the boys in back exclaimed, looking at his hands.

"She's a villain! She put Tendo-kun in the hospital yesterday and broke the playground toys last week." The ringleader spat, glaring at Shouta.

"Yeah, Kamikiri-san said she killed her mother too! Only a villain kills their parents," one of the smaller boys shouted from the back. Shouta heard a strangled gasp from the taller child who was still clutching his leg.

"Yeah, and Shinso's no better! Only a villain tries to control the minds of others." The bulky boy covered in scales smashed a fist into his palm.

Shouta heard a whimper from behind him and could feel both children trembling against his legs. He glared at the offenders.

"Come on, Ki-chan, we should get outta here," Shouta heard the whisper from behind him. He felt shuffling and a pained cry as a body staggered against him, the weight of the child almost tripping him. He made the mistake of glancing behind him and saw the stocky green-haired girl struggling to rise. A sound of movement had him turning back to the bullies, hair flying up again as he reactiveated his quirk. A knife clattered to the ground inches from his left foot. With a flicker of movement four of the boys were bound together in his capture scarf, the remaining two turned and fled back down the alley. As he tied the miscreants up, he could hear the smaller child urging his friend to run.

"I can't run anymore, Toshi-chan. My ankle's hurt. 'sides, were safe now, he's Eraserhead." The sweet, melodic voice didn't match the size of the taller child. Shouta wondered how she'd recognized him only to have that question answered a moment later.

"How do ya know, Ki-chan?"
"Can't you see the yellow goggles? 'member that video I found before we got banned from the computer lab? Only Eraserhead stops quirks and has yellow goggles. He's an underground hero. He won't hurt us. Maybe he can stop me from breakin' things."

Shouta turned his attention back to the miscreants in front of him as he pulled out his phone. "We are going to deal with this once and for all." he glanced over his shoulder at the pair of children behind him. Using one hand to tap buttons on his phone, he dialed the precinct. "Get me Tsukauchi. It's Eraserhead, I have a situation." He rattled off his coordinates on the phone. "Arrigato."

After putting his phone away, he tied the four older kids to a street pole and turned to the younger ones. The Greenette was leaning on the shoulder of the smaller child, struggling to keep weight off her left leg. "Domo-arrigato, Eraser-sama," she stammered, pitching forward as she attempted a wobbly bow. Shouta righted her before she could hit the pavement, earning him a blinding smile.

"A-arrigato," the purple-haired child stammered shyly, appearing as though he was trying to hide behind his much bigger friend.

Shouta squatted down so as not to seem so menacing, pulling out his first-aid kit from a pouch at his waist. As he examined the grenette's ankle, he interrogated them. "What are your names and where do you live?"

"Hajimemashite, I am Midoriya Kiku. This is my best friend Shinso Hitoshi. We are six. We live at the Rising Sun orphanage over there." The taller girl pointed at a ratty looking building halfway down a nearby street. "Kaito-san and Yoko-san live there too." She pointed at two the boys who were tied up and shouting profanities.

Shouta was about to ask another question when the police cars pulled up. He greeted Naomasa and explained the situation. Nodding, Naomasa gestured for his officers to escort the teens to the precinct before turning back to Shouta. "What about those two?"

"Some of the children involved, including these two, live at the orphanage down the street. I'm going to check it out." Shouta replied.

"D-do we h-have ta go back?" Shinso whispered just loud enough for Shouta and Naomasa to hear. The sigh from the taller child said it all. "We don't got no place else, 'Toshi. No one wants us. I'll protect you. I'm gonna be a hero some day, just like All Might-sama and Eraserhead-sama so that people like us can be safe." She smiled shyly at Shouta as he wrapped her ankle in gauze.

"Think we'll get lunch?" he asked, a wobble in his voice. "I'm very hungry."

"Not likely. I stashed some bread from dinner yesterday. You can share it with me." The greenette hugged her smaller friend, digging into a pocket a bringing out a crust of bread that was rather worse for the wear. Shouta watched him wince. "T-too tight," he gasped out. Kiku stumbled back, landing on her bottom on the cement leaving a large circular crack in the pavement, her face red. "G-gomen, I di'nt mean to." She looked down at the ground, a fountain of tears pouring from her eyes, two dirty green curls falling forward to obscure her eyes.

"'s okay. I'm not broken." The words were spoken in a firm, certain voice as Hitoshi patted her back, trying to reassure the crying girl.

Her head lifted, blue eyes shimmering with moisture, "y-you sure?" She asked looking skeptical.

Hitoshi nodded and hugged his friend gently, using the dirty corner of his shirt to wipe at her tears. "Don't cry Ki-chan, Heroes always smile."

Shouta felt as though his heart was being squeezed. He turned to Naomasa. "Lend me one of your officers please. I think this place needs to be investigated sooner rather than later. Are you able to assist me or if not, can you spare an officer?"

Naomasa nodded, suspecting his friend would not be happy with what they would find.

"I sure can. Kamizaki!" He called over to a young female officer. "Kamizaki, take the children back to the precinct. Call in the nurse and have her give them each a thorough exam, and for heaven's sake get them some lunch." He turned his attention to the children. "Do you like pizza?"

Kiku looked down, shuffling her feet, "I dunno, we never ate pizza b'fore." Hitoshi, small hand tucked into hers nodded in agreement before whispering. "I bet it'll be yummy. Those turtle guys from that old comic Lee-san gave you sure loved it."

Naomasa and Shouta exchanged looks. The young woman with metallic silver hair and fingernails saluted. "Yes sir!"

Shouta turned toward the children and scooped up Kiku…or tried to. He winced and nearly dropped her, not expecting the weight of the child. He could feel a bruise forming where she had crashed into his hip. She had to be nearly a hundred pounds. There was no way this child could be six, he thought to himself.

"I'm too heavy. I can walk," she fretted. Shouta smiled at her and shook his head, refusing to allow her to see his strain. Shinso grasped onto his pant leg and walked beside them as they walked to the squad car, purple eyes watching officer Kamizaki with suspicion. Shouta wondered what must have happened to the boy to make him so wary.
