When Jen came home, the house was still empty. She looked into their bedroom and could see that the bed had not been used, which meant that a) Brad could not have noticed that she did not spend the night at home because b) he himself did not come home last even giving her a heads up.
"Not so nice" she thought, on the other hand she was one to talk!
She reminiscened in the night she had spend with David. It had been everything she always had hoped for, and more.
She had known he was a good kisser because of all the stolen moments they shared when they used their characters as an excuse, but boy... He was not only good at that... He was gentle and made her feel loved, but at the same time, he had just the right amount of roughness to send her over the edge. As if there was anyhing this man was not perfect at.
She knew she had to at least give him a short call later, after the way she left. But even with her aimlessly driving around in her car, too on the edge to possibly face Brad, it was still quite early.
As much as she did not want to wash David's scent off of her, she decided it would probably best to take a shower in case dear hubby decided to make an appearance.
After she finished with that, she decided she could try and give David a call.
"Hey" he greeted her.
"Hey" she sighed "Sorry for just leaving like that. I..."
"You were overwhelmed and did not know what to do, I get it. It's ok."
"I want you to know that everything I said last night was true. But I don't know if I am ready to give up on my marriage yet. I am so sorry that I dragged you into this."
"It's okay. Take your time. I am not going to pressure you. But I want you to know one thing: I love you. And I want to be with you. And I will be here for you, when you need me. I can be your friend or I can be more, if you want me to. I am not going anywhere before this is over, one way or the other.
"But you..."
"It is ok. I don't have any obligation to be anywhere right now. I was going to take a few weeks off anyway, and now I simply decided to do this here in LA."
"Thank you. I don't deserve you."
"I strongly disagree there. Brad does not deserve YOU. I take it he was not home either, otherwise we would not be talking right now?"
"Yup."
"Wow. Even a bigger fool than I thought. Alright. I won't make this too long in case he gets home now. Just remember: I love you, and I will be here in case you need me. Take care, Jen!"
"Thank you so much. Bye." She said before she hung up and started to cry.
It was then, that she heard a key in the front door. She quickly wiped her eyes and took a deep breath.
Brad came into the living room with a beautiful bouquet of flowers in his hand.
"Hey Honey" he kissed her on the cheek, while she was still unsure of how to behave. "These are for you, I see that you can use a little pick-me-up. Must have been rough. Sorry again that I could not come, but we are already behind our schedule..."
Under normal circumstances, she would have lectured him that it would at least have been nice for him to come home, but who was she to talk. So she bit her tounge.
"... and we were running SO late this night that I had to crash in my trailer, because I was afraid I would pass out on the drive home. Did not even have time to call, sorry!"
"Thank you for the flowers, how sweet of you" she said, holding them to her nose and taking a sniff before she got up, gave him a quick peck on the cheek and walked over to the cabinet and grabbed a vase.
"So, hard goodbye? I really would love to know how it ends"
"Well you knew if you had been there..."
"Jen, please! I. AM. SORRY."
"Alright, do you want me to tell you or do you want to wait for it to air?"
"No, I wanna see it!"
At that she had to smile. She knew he loved the show and the day he was guest starring was the most excited she had ever seen him.
"Brad, we really need to get a night off together, I hardly see you anymore!"
He stood infornt of her, grabbed her hands, leaned into her and gently kissed her.
"Actually, I have today off because we are not going to shoot during the day today, why don't we go out and spend the day at the beach?"
"Sounds nice" she said with a small smile on her face.
He was such a nice guy, he deserved to be cut some slack. She NEEDED to try and make this work, to at least know she had done everything in her power.
They packed up some stuff and headed out to the beach, surfing, bathing and goofing around, and when he headed to work at night, she felt bad for what she did.
But then, she had to think of David and felt bad for him.
Oh Lord!
