David sat at his dining table, going over a script he had been sent, that did not look too bad. At least, this finally was a more dramatic role, which would be nice for a change. He knew he was good at comedy, but he wanted something different right now. Challenge himself, move out of his comfort zone. Show the world what he could do.
He was quite startled when he heard the sound of his doorbell.
When he went to answer the door, he saw Jen standing outside, looking kind of lost.
"Hey" he greeted her, not sure what to make of this.
"Hey. I don't even know what I am doing here. I was at Courteneys and somehow I ended up here..."
"Want a cup of coffee and a friendly talk?" He motioned her to come in.
She nodded her head and walked in.
They entered the kitchen, and he started the coffee machine, while she sat down at the kitchen counter.
"Thank you, for being you. I know that none of this is fair to you and yet here you are, making me coffee..."
She really looked like shit, as far as this was possible.
"Jen, we will always be friends, no matter what you decide to do. That did not change. So, what have you been up to?"
"I can't tell you, I am sorry! All I can say is that I am none the wiser, you know.
And this has NOTHING to do with you. I just want you to know: this has NOTHING to do with me deciding if I love you enough. This is me deciding what I want for my marriage. I am sorry I dragged you into my personal drama."
"I know that. And I know that you must have been hurting for a long time. What is this project he is so "busy" with anyway?"
"It is a dark action comedy about two contract killers that are married, not knowing what the other one is doing for a living, and that then are hired to kill each other... He is the husband, Angelina Jolie is his wife." She said.
Oh. Ouch. But he bit his tongue for now.
"Sounds weird. Either that will be totally mind blowing of just... well, weird." He said.
"Yeah, but seems to be the first, at least he is very excited about it."
After that, they continued to talk about this and that, just as friends, before she decided to hit home.
When they hugged as a goodbye, she looked at his lips, when they were about to let go of each other. She leant in and wanted to kiss him.
Even though there was nothing he wanted more than this, he stopped her, saying.
"Jen, please..."
"Yeah, you are right. Sorry!"
"Take care."
"You,too."
He closed the door behind her, and let his back sink down on it. He was exhausted.
He did not say anything to her, but when he heard that Brad suddenly became absent after starting to work with Angelina Jolie, he felt a certain rush of anger arise inside of him.
Of course, that did not have to mean anything, but he had been on enough film sets and quite obviously had experience in feeling attracted to his co-star. And even if he never did it himself, he knew the ways men had when another woman was involved. And then learning WHO Brad was co-starring with did not make it any better.
Angelina was personally not his type, and when looking at the fact that he was married to Jen, maybe not even Brads, but she certainly was a woman that every man would find attractive. Plus she had a wild, exotic aura, that surely could be alluring and rumors had it that she was related to her respective co-stars quite often.
On the one hand, that would definitely be something he could profit from, but on the other hand, he could not stand the thought that Jen was beating herself up over that one slip that she had allowed herself, while Brad might have been doing naughty things with another woman for MONTHS.
But he would surely not be the one who told her this, until he really had to, because it a) would break her heart and b) he did not want her to think that he did this as an unfair move to win her over in the end.
Wow, this really was some serious drama he was up for. But given the possibility that something beautiful he had always wished for may waited for him at the end, he was more than willing to take it.
