Sorry about the delay in posting. Between moving, computer issues and fighting with my muse over this chapter (Muse-san won) this chapter is obviously very late. Due to circumstances not in my control, posts are going to move to a more sporadic basis for the near future.

CHAPTER 17

Iwate Precinct, Iwate Prefecture Honshu, the next day…

"I want an APB out on her, now!" Detective Tsukauchi commanded, passing pictures out to the team of cops arranged around the conference table.

"Who is she?" Officer Nakamura asked, fingers brushing spiky pink hair out of her eyes as she stared at the picture of the blonde girl.

"Toga, Himiko, age thirteen. Quirk is Transform. She can take on the form of another person by drinking their blood. She went missing five years ago after almost murdering her new stepmother. She was captured when the child trafficking ring was broken up. She was under observation at Naru-Hutta General Hospital when she escaped, killing a nurse and critically wounded Officer Tanaka who was on duty. We locked down the hospital but could not find any trace of her. We later learned she took the form of one of the rescued children, Nakamoto Kenji. He was released into the custody of his parents yesterday morning. Last evening, reports came in from the neighbors of screaming and detectives found the bodies of his parents in the home. They had been stabbed multiple times and exsanguinated. One of the neighbors reported seeing someone who appeared to be Kenji-kun fleeing the scene. We know it couldn't have been him because his body was found around the same time in a laundry cart at the hospital. I want this picture sent to all of the pro-hero agencies in Tokyo. Warn them that she is to be considered armed and dangerous," Tsukauchi responded, pinning a second picture to the board. A closer examination revealed it to be a child's bed with a strange gray goop in the center of the unmade bed.

"What is that?" Officer Yamamoto asked, his massive ape-like frame squeezed into a tiny chair between two of his female co-workers.

"That is the residue left behind when Toga-san drops her transformation." A voice stated from the doorway. The table of cops stood and bowed as Police Chief Tsuragame walked into the room. He placed three more photographs of children on the board as the officers re-seated themselves.

"Tsubasa Akiji, Maruko Kaenu, Nakamoto Kenji. Of the eleven children identified by Eraserhead, these three are still missing. Kenji has now been confirmed deceased. The other seven were released from the hospital yesterday afternoon after a thorough examination," the dog-headed police chief stated, turning to the assembled officers.

"What about the eleventh child?" a female officer asked, stirring three packets of sugar into her tea.

"Hiroki Genji, age twelve. Died in the ambulance en-route to the hospital from multiple stab wounds. The rescued children reported that she was stabbed by Toga while trying to protect the younger children who were being tormented," Detective Tsukauchi replied, placing a final picture on the board.

"Of the five villains involved in the group, we managed to capture Nagisuna Koko aka Lullaby, Johnny Mace aka Mace – an American Mercenary, and Aikawa Taru aka Hydro," these three will be enjoying a very long stint in Tartarus. Toga and the unidentified warping villain escaped. We think the three missing children were taken by the warper when he disappeared." The Chief stated, pointing to each villain in turn. "The American Embassy is putting pressure on us to find the Consulate's son Maruko Kaenu and they are screaming to extradite Mace to stand trial in America. We will leave that for the diplomats to fight over. In the meantime, I want all resources focused on finding those missing children. Read over the case files and see me or Detective Tsukauchi if you have any questions. Dismissed."

1 week later, Musutafu park

"Hurry up Oniichan, you promised to push me on the swings," Mieko tugged at Katsuki's arm, dragging him in the direction of the swings.

Katsuki laughed, attempting keep his cinnamon & cardamom ice-cream cone from tumbling out of his other hand as he was pulled along by the excited six-year-old. "Oi Miechan, slow down would ya."

A strangely familiar laugh drew his attention to the pair sitting on the bench nearby. The older of the two was a very tall blonde man with messy hair, a cane leaning against the seat of the bench beside his leg. The greenette beside him was several inches taller than Katsuki. The edge of her white skirt fluttered in the breeze. They laughed again as the elder dabbed his ice-cream cone on the younger's nose and she hastily wiped it away. Katsuki wondered what it was about their laughter that drew his attention. He would swear he'd heard that laugh somewhere before...

"Oniichan!" Mieko tugged at his arm, drawing his attention back to her. Turning away from the family scene before him, he allowed her to lead them to the swings.

They had only been swinging for a few minutes when a blur of yellow and brown collided with Mieko's swing. She screamed as she was pulled from the swing and dragged her down the path. Katsuki darted after them, swearing, explosions popping from his palms. A flash of green passed by him and crashed into the figure. Katsuki hurried over to his sobbing sister and pulled her into his arms.

He watched as the green-haired girl pinned the blur, which now appeared to be a blonde-haired girl in a ratty school uniform, to the ground. She had the struggling blonde pinned to the grass, one knee pressing down on her spine. The prone kidnapper was struggling and trying unsuccessfully to bite her captor.

The sound of a cane tapping had him turning. The tall blonde man from the bench was slowly making his way toward them. Katsuki could see the edge of bandaging peeking out of the collar of the man's beige shirt. The man was using one hand to control his cane while speaking frantically into his phone with the other hand. Katsuki caught the name 'Tsukauchi' and a few words about 'missing villain' before the man hung up.

"Good Job, my dear. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to her wrists or spine, you don't want to break her now. Tsukauchi-san is sending a squad to pick her up," the man addressed the greenette.

It was hearing the man's voice again that made everything finally click in Katsuki's mind. He observed the man carefully. Blonde, messy hair with two strands dangling in front of his eyes and the booming laughter from earlier. It all added up..."A-All Might?" he croaked out.

Three heads turned toward him in shock, but the sound of approaching sirens and the babble of the approaching crowd drew the attention of the others. Katsuki turned his focus back to Mieko who was still shaking and weeping in his arms.

A yelp from the green girl startled him. He raised his gaze to see the prone villain holding a knife in one hand and slashing backward at her captor. There was a trickle of blood seeping into the hem of the white skirt. A flick of her hand and the cracking of bone had the villain girl disarmed. Katsuki idly noted that the larger girl had barely flicked her hand against the other girl's wrist to disarm her. He wondered how strong she truly was. Glancing between the greenette and his idol as sirens sounded in the background, Katsuki could see the resemblance between the two. The only thought registering in his shocked mind was 'since when did All Might have a child?'

After the villainess had been escorted away by the police, Toshinori turned to the young man who was staring wide-eyed at his daughter. He cleared his throat, causing the boy to jump slightly, explosions popping off his palms in his surprise. "Young man, as you have obviously figured out who I am, perhaps young Kiku and I could escort the two of you home?"

Kiku looked over at her father and the blonde boy and then scratched nervously at the bandage on her leg. "Hajimemashite, Midoriya Kiku desu." She bowed.

Her nervous greeting drew Toshinori's attention back to his daughter. "I think later we are going to have a talk later about reckless and impulsive actions, my dear."

"I'm sorry, I didn't think, my body just moved when I saw her. I-I recognized her from the wanted poster on Papa-Shou's desk," Kiku's whispered, embarrassed.

Toshinori hmmed in understanding and patted her shoulder in a reassuring manner. He leaned heavily on his cane as he struggled to catch his breath. Kiku worked herself under his left arm to support his weaker side. Two pair of eyes turned toward Katsuki who had boosted Mieko up onto his shoulders and led them out of the park.

A.U.T.H.O.R.S..N.O.T.E…

This is a short chapter, but I really fought with this one. I wanted to make it longer but I hated everything I wrote. Updates may not be a frequent as they were in the past but I have not abandoned this story. I will make sure the next chapter is much longer, and hopefully I won't have to fight with my muse over it.

Thank you to TodoBakuDeku2108 for their help with names and quirks. I am your #1 fan.
