Chapter 2 - I'm Late!
Alyssa, now walking back and forth quickly, grabbing each item on the list in her head, preparing for her first day at her new job. "Shoes… socks…" she lists off out loud as she puts them on. Alyssa grabs a jacket from the back of her desk chair before walking out of her bedroom.
She then hurried over towards the bathroom, stepping inside the white-tiled room and looking at the mirror in front of her. Looking back at her was her reflection: a young woman with short brown hair to the shoulders with a touch of red highlights at the ends and brown eyes staring back. After a moment of looking herself over, she continued her thought aloud. "Okay... do I need to brush my hair?" She combs four fingers through her hair, then shrugged. "...Nah, I'm good." The young lady puts on the grey jacket and buttons up the front while looking at herself and notices the Freddy Fazbear logo on the right-hand side. And she smiled. "First day on the job! I can't believe I'm going back after so long! I wonder if the animatronics still look the same?"
With that, Alyssa walks out of the bathroom and back to her bedroom, grabbing her black pants on the bed and hopping into them quickly, zipping and buttoning them up. "Jacket, shoes, socks…" she continues listing as she glances over to the alarm clock sitting beside her bed. "8:50 am…" the girl notes and looks away, going back to her thoughts. "Pants, breakfa-" she suddenly stops with eyes wide and quickly looks at the clock again. "8:50?!" Alyssa realizes. "Crap! Skip eggs and toast!" she shouts at herself, grabbing her brown messenger bag and flinging it over her shoulder. She swiftly begins running out of the apartment with her keys in hand. "Oh god…" she mumbles to herself in her panic. "Don't let me be late on the first day!" With that, she gets into her vehicle and starts her race to the pizzeria.
Twenty minutes pass, as well as almost getting into an accident that she swears wasn't her fault, Alyssa finally pulls into the parking lot of the restaurant. The building was a simple cream color with a few L-E-D lights around the roof to light up at night. The building held up a sign which said "Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria" hanging on the front. Beside the name was an image of the iconic bear animatronic that was the symbol of the pizzeria. Now, this place has been here since she was a child, and the fading letters of the sign are proof of its age. Noticing a few other cars parked already, Alyssa decided to park a bit towards the back so she wouldn't block customers from parking closer to the front.
"Note to self, don't play games too long at night…" the brunette mentally notes as she opens the door and steps out of her silver vehicle. Closing the driver's door behind her, Alyssa quickly pulls the backs of her new black shoes up to fit her feet better. Apparently, putting your shoes on in a rush may not be the best idea… She mentally sighs before walking up to the double glass doors. The sudden feeling of nostalgia comes across the young lady as she looks up at the main sign. "Wow… they do need to at least change the lighting at night," she commented aloud before walking in.
Walking into the lobby and into the main party room, Alyssa saw all the tables decorated with confetti table covers, and party hats were placed on the plates at every seat. Streamers and balloons decorated the edges of the tables and the walls of the area. Nothing much had changed. The walls were still sliced in half by a black strip of wallpaper with a few child drawings of the Fazbear characters, the top half was a gray color while the bottom half was a black and white checkered pattern. The main stage had its curtains are open with the animatronic trio standing in place: Bonnie, the purple bunny, to the left with his guitar, Chica, the yellow chicken, to the right with her keyboard with her pink cupcake on top, and the iconic Freddy Fazbear standing center stage with his mic in hand. It wasn't time for them to start their show yet, so they remained motionless, for the time being. All in all, the nostalgia was very much present and quite welcoming to Alyssa.
"Deja'vu," she says to herself with a smile. A quick sniff of the air fills her nose with the scent of the greasy pizza aroma that was served here. The brunette takes a deep breath and exhales. "Never gets old," Alyssa states as she walks over to the main stage and looks up at the animatronics she watched as a kid. "They still look the same! Bonnie, Chica, Freddy! I can't believe it!" she thinks with a smile, but then she remembers something, and her smile fades a bit. "But where's…" Alyssa starts as she looks over towards where the stage with a purple star curtain used to stand; a poster now hangs on the walls saying "Pirate's Cove has been relocated! Come join the crew in the new Pirate's Cove party room!" Alyssa tilts her head at this. "I wonder if he's still-"
"Nah~ Fazbear had the fox fixed up as of recently, so he's all good~" a slick and smooth voice coming from behind her interrupted.
Shocked from the sudden interruption, Alyssa jumps with a squeak before turning around to see a man wearing a purple-colored spread shirt and hat covering his copper black hair. "Uh… Hi…" she starts, not knowing exactly what to say to this stranger who just disrupted her thoughts. "Do you work here, too?
The man in violet is wearing a smirk across his face like someone who knows a dark secret unable to tell. "Yeah, I'm the head security guard around here~" he states with a shrug. "I mostly work the night shift. Though, the boss had me come in since there's some new girl coming in today. But while I wait~" he starts as his smirk seems to grow and he moves closer to the younger woman. "I wouldn't mind hanging with you, toots~" he says as he sticks his tongue out a bit. He seems to be acting playful, but he was also being extremely perverted. "Name's Vincent~ What's yours?~" Vincent asked her smoothly.
Feeling a bit creeped out, Alyssa glares slightly towards him. "Well, pleased to meet you, Vincent. My name is Alyssa Brawnwen, who will be working for today, and I like to say that I have 911 on speed dial and I'm not afraid to press the button," she states sharply but quickly smiles innocently. "Okay?~"
Vincent just licks the side of his lip, liking this newbie's attitude. "Feisty~ I like it~" he smirks at her. "Alyssa, huh?" Vincent says to reconfirm her name, but his eyes widen. "Oh!" he said in realization and his smirk grew. "You're the new night shift~"
Putting her hand on her hip, not liking his behavior, plainly answers, "Yes... I heard this place needed a new guard and, it pays well for the first week." She turns her head away to look around the area, "Apparently this place needs night guards more than Jewelry stores."
He chuckles a bit, sliding his hand into his pockets, still with a slightly perverted smile on his face. "Well, have you talked to the manager yet?" he replied simply. Alyssa shifts a bit in place, still feeling uncomfortable at how he's staring at her.
"Well, not yet…" the brunette admitted, looking around quickly for an escape route. "But I think I'll be able to find his office easily. I've been to this place several times in the past, so I know my way around," she tells him, turning back, stepping a few steps back to give her some distance between her and him. "So again, nice to meet you."
Vincent smiles at her, obviously knowing something she didn't. "Very well, but I'll tell you just in case. His office is down the hall beside the stage, babe~" he explained, pointing in the direction just mentioned. "First door on your right~" He crosses his arms and leans on the wall as he finishes talking.
Alyssa looks down the hallway Vincent had pointed out. "Oh." She turns back to face the violet-colored employee, giving him a detest look. Obviously… she didn't like him… "Thank you." she says coldly before turning away and heading down the hall. "Jerk…" she mumbles under her breath.
He chuckles as he watches the fuming brunette walk away and comments under his own breath. "Nice ass~"
The owner of the establishment was standing in front of a filing cabinet, putting some papers in the drawers in an organized fashion. "Party today at 1:00 pm..." he says to himself, putting some papers into a folder. "Alright. And another at 4:30 pm," he continues before closing the metal draw with a smile. "Glad to see the old place is still getting attention."
The brunette stops at the opened office door and looks in to see him with his back to her. Being polite, she knocks on the wooden door before speaking up to get his attention. "Um… Mr. Fazbear?" she asks cautiously and nervously.
The man turns at the knock and stands up straight. He smiles at the young lady as he returns to his seat behind his desk. "Yes, that's me," Mr. Fazbear confirmed. "You must be Alyssa Brawnwen."
She smiles back at him and nods. "That's me."
"Alrighty then. Please, come in and have a seat," the man instructs, gesturing to one of the two seats in front of his desk.
Being careful of her movement, Alyssa walks over towards the seat closest to the door and sits down. "I'm so sorry if I'm a bit late…! I got carried away last night with something and slept over my alarm," she immediately apologizes, but only hears a playful chuckle for her reply.
"Don't worry, my dear. I only wanted you to come in early so you could get accustomed to the layout of the restaurant," he calmly explains to her, and she sighs in relief. "Your shift doesn't start until 12:00 am, but you'll be required to come in at 11:00 pm to make sure the place is locked up tight and everything is where it should be."
Alyssa nods in understanding. She then takes off her bag and opens it up, grabbing a notebook and pen from inside. Returning to her original position, she starts writing down a few notes for later. "Okay, 12:00 to start…" she confirms under her breath before looking up at him again. "Does this place get broken into or something? A friend of mine said that something around here moved… Is that true?" Alyssa asked nervously. She didn't want to ask any questions that were going to jeopardize her job, but this was a concern of hers, she had to know about.
Mr. Fazbear pauses for a moment before replying. "Well, you know how kids can be. Can't clean up after themselves," the man chuckles. "No, nothing like that, but we wouldn't want anything happening and us not being prepared for it, right?" he asks with a calm smile.
"...Right," she answered, still not too sure about his answer, but if he was comfortable, why couldn't she be comfortable? He wouldn't hire someone to do something dangerous without warning them first… would he? Jotting down his answer to her question, she continues to ask, "So... what else do I need to know before I start?"
The man reaches into a drawer and pulls out a key. Looking back at Alyssa, he explains, "In the employee's room, there is a tall locker with the number 8 on it; that will be your locker for your uniform and a place where you can store your things during your shift." He hands over the key as she takes it with a smile. This was the first thing that marked her as a Fazbear Entertainment employee. "Also, I have a few things to do today so," he says as he looks to the entrance of his office, seeing a figure standing there. "Vincent here will show you around the building."
Mr. Purple Shirt was leaning on the doorway of the office with his arms crossed and that grin still plastered on his smug face. "Hey Alyssa! We meet again~" he says smoothly and with a chuckle only to have a quiet groan from the young woman.
The boss looks back in her direction. "Vincent will also be your partner for tonight's night shift. He has the most work experience, so he'll make sure you know how things run around here," he tells her with a smile.
She could feel Vincent's smirk growing on his face, even without looking at him. Alyssa could only hang her head, regretting what she signed up for. "Oh… Terrific…" she groans, placing the key to her locker in her pocket before looking up at Mr. Fazbear again, trying to look somewhat content. "B-before I start the tour…" Alyssa begins to ask. "Has Foxy been fixed up?" Pointing towards Vincent as she continues. "The jer- I mean... Vincent said that he was completely fixed up. Is that why he moved into a party room?"
"That is true," Fazbear confirms. "That's why we moved Pirate's Cove. Gives the kids their own special room to have a birthday party with Foxy." She simply nods as he continues talking to her. "Alyssa, in your locker, you will find a pocket flashlight and a set of keys for the restaurant. You will be required to return both of these tools to your locker at the end of your shift. If you are caught stealing the keys or making copies of them, it will resolve the immediate termination of your job. Understood?" he explained with an official tone in his voice.
Alyssa nods to him. "Yes sir," she replies and quickly writes the new information down in her notebook. "Alright, anything else?" she asks, looking up at Mr. Fazbear again.
Fazbear turns to look in Vincent's direction and gives him a serious look. "Vincent, mind your manners around our new night guard. Please don't go scaring her off like you did the last one," he begged the other guard with slight annoyance.
He chuckles nonchalantly, obviously not caring about the cold glare he was receiving from the newbie. "I keep telling ya, boss: I'm not the reason the others left after one ta two days," he says and shrugs his shoulder.
The owner just waves his hand at him playfully. "And I still find it hard to believe that anything else is capable of doing so." His gaze relaxes a bit as he gestures to Alyssa, "Now please show the new night guard around and remember there are cameras-" he started before Vincent cut him off.
"-everywhere. Yeah yeah yeah. I work the night shift. I watch those cameras," he interrupts waving his hand, obviously having heard this before. "Come on, babe. Try to keep up," he told her before turning and walking out of the room and down the hall.
With a sigh, Mr. Fazbear turns his attention back to Alyssa, who was patiently watching their 'conversation' going on from the background, the owner gives her a small smile before saying, "I know he can be hard to get along with, but he'll calm down after a few shifts of working with you." He closes his eyes as he hangs his head with a quiet sigh. "Hopefully…"
Alyssa chuckles at his last word. "Yeah… Hopefully," she says jokingly as she packs her notes and pen back into her brown bag. Standing up quickly and picking up her bag, the brunette throws it over her shoulder before turning away to the door. "Oh," she quickly stops her movement and turns back to her new manager. "By the way… What did Vincent mean by 'reasons'...?"
"Some of the kids vomit or umm... don't make it to the bathroom in time... Most of the potential night guards did not want to deal with it and decided to leave," the man tells her calmly. "Now, go ahead and get your uniform on," he instructs, trying to change the subject, but Alyssa still wasn't sure of his answer.
'Something's up…' she thinks and nods to him. "Thank you," she says as she turns away again and walks out the door. Shutting the door behind her, Alyssa looks up to see Vincent ahead of her. She quietly sighs hoping he wouldn't hear her, 'Don't get upset … He's only trying to help...' she tells herself as she walks up to him before stopping. "So… where to?" she asks, still not wanting to be around this pervert...
With a snicker and that same smirk still visible, he talks as he walks. "Well, first we're going to the employee's room so you can get dressed for the shift." The sound of those words brings a bigger smirk to his face. "But if you'd prefer, we could ditch the tour and just lock the door behind us.~" he looks towards her with a smug smile.
The brunette, finally getting sick of his shit, looks up at him with a sour glare before stabbing him with her sharp words. "I got a better idea, I will go to the employee's room alone and get changed in there myself," she walks closer to him, then holds her index finger in his face, glaring daggers into his cold dark eyes. "And you stay far, far away from that room. If you don't wait until I come out, I will personally show you a good five fingers when I slap that smirk off your damn face!" The threat now in place, Alyssa pulls away and walks past him, heading to the room that says, "Employees Only."
Staring at her back, as she walks away, with a surprised look on his own face, Vincent's smirk only grew seeing how much of a fighter she truly is. But could she handle what's to come when the clock strikes twelve? "Whatever ya say, babe~" he says in a sly, yet trusting, tone before sticking his tongue out at her again, following her trail to the employees' room.
