A/N: Hank, Aubrey, a carnival, and lost keys…

Agent James Aubrey was nervous, he was babysitting 3 ½ year old Hank Booth while Booth acted as Brennan's personal security for some events for her new book. Christine was at her friend Emma's for a birthday sleepover and the stomach flu had overtaken the Hodgins household so Aubrey was left with the task of entertaining the three-year-old for the day. After Booth secured Hank's car seat in Aubrey's SUV and strapped the toddler inside Aubrey headed to the spring carnival in town. "Are you ready to have some fun while mommy and daddy work?"

"Uh-huh"

A half hour later Aubrey pulled the lightweight umbrella stroller from the back and unfolded it before getting Hank from the back, once the toddler was buckled in Aubrey hung the small bag Brennan had packed with a change of clothes, sunscreen, baby wipes, snacks, and a light jacket on the back. Their first stop was a funnel cake stand where Aubrey shared a funnel cake with Hank, the three-year-old didn't like it. Then they rode all the kiddy rides, Aubrey had to fold himself up to fit on the train with Hank.

"Are you having fun, Hank?"

"Uh-huh. Can we ride the train again?"

"In a little bit, let's go play some games first."

"K."

After spending a small fortune at the ring toss booth to get Hank a five-foot-tall teddy bear Aubrey went over to the food trucks, "What do you want for lunch, little dude?"

"Chick nuggets!"

"They don't have those. How about pizza?"

"K."

Aubrey got Hank a slice of cheese pizza, then he went to the next place and got himself two corn dogs, chili cheese fries and a lemon shake-up. They went over to the picnic tables and found a shady table that was mostly clean and ate their lunch, Aubrey poured some water in the spill proof cup Brennan had sent along and cut Hank's pizza into bite size pieces. "There you go. Enjoy!" Hank grinned and popped a piece of pizza in his mouth. After they got done with lunch Aubrey folded himself onto the train for three more rides. Their last stop was the petting zoo.

"What was your favorite animal you got to pet?"

"The bunny!"

"Mine too! are you ready to go home and wait for your mommy and daddy to get home?"

"Uh-huh."

"Let's go." Aubrey pushed the stroller to his SUV and reached in his right front pocket for his keys, not finding them he reached in his other pocket and only found his phone. Aubrey checked his back pocket and only came up with his wallet. Aubrey didn't panic until he'd looked through Hank's bag and didn't find his keys.

"Hank, we need to do something else before we go home…"

"K."

Aubrey retraced his steps as much as he could, asking at all the booths they stopped at if they'd found keys, no one had. Aubrey made his way to the lost and found, no keys had been turned in so he left his name and number just in case. He sat on a bench and pulled out his phone.

"Booth."

"Booth, I lost my keys, can you bring me my spares?"

"Yeah, I'll be there in 45 minutes. I'll call when I get there so you can meet me at your SUV."

"Okay."

"Hank having a good time?"
"Yeah, so am I. I think we'll get ice cream or something while we wait."

"That's good. Get me a funnel cake. I just want plain one with powdered sugar, none of those toppings they put on them now…"

"Okay." Aubrey hung up his phone and turned the stroller to face him.

"Hank, I lost my keys, your daddy will be here soon with my other set then we can go home."
"K."

"Let's get some ice cream while we wait.."

"Yea!" Aubrey chuckled and stood up heading toward the food trucks. He got Hank a kiddie cup of chocolate ice cream covered in sprinkles and whipped cream. He got a triple scoop brownie sundae with hot fudge and caramel sauce. They were getting Booth's funnel cake and deep-fried Oreos when Booth called. Aubrey hurried to his SUV

"DADDY!"

"Hey tiger. I see you're having fun with uncle Aubrey."

Hank nodded while holding on to his giant teddy bear, "I had ice cream and petted a bunny!"

"Cool!" Booth handed Aubrey his spare keys.

"Thanks. Sorry for making you come out here."

"Don't worry about it, Bones is good. I needed a break…"

Aubrey nodded, "I can't believe I lost my keys.."

"At least didn't lock them in the SUV with Hank… When Christine was two months old Bones took her grocery shopping and put everything in her car and closed it before she realized her purse was in the back with Christine. Luckily she had her phone in her pocket, she called me and I double timed it to the store and unlocked Bones' car. Christine was only locked in for 10 minutes, she slept through the whole thing. I ended up leaving my SUV parked and driving Bones home. I've never seen her that shaken up… " Booth picked up Hank and put him in his car seat, he smiled as he climbed back out holding up Aubrey's keys.

"Found your keys, they were on the floor next to Hank's seat. They probably fell out of your pocket when you bent over to unbuckle him. It's happened to me before."

Aubrey smiled and took his keys. "At least you found them. Here's your funnel cake. I'm gonna go put the stroller in the back,"

Booth looked at his watch. "Thanks. Why don't you two come hang out at the bookstore? Bones will be done soon."

"Sounds good."

BONES

Aubrey carried Hank in the bookstore and over to the children's section, blocking the three-year old's view of his mother. Everything was fine until Hank heard Brennan's voice and he was off and running before Aubrey could grab him. Luckily for Hank there were only a few people left in line and he easily got to Brennan. "Mommy!" Brennan shook her head at Booth as he reached to pick up the toddler. Brennan smiled at the fans waiting in line and pulled Hank onto her lap, then finished signing the remaining six books. When the signing was over Aubrey walked over to Brennan.

"Sorry, Doctor B. I should have brought the stroller in…"

"No harm done; it was a perfect ending to a rather tedious day…" Brennan kissed Hank's forehead. "Let's go pick out some new bedtime stories."

"K." Brennan and Hank headed towards the Children's section.

"Thanks for babysitting Hank today Aubrey…"

"You're welcome, we had fun. Unlock your SUV so I can put the stroller, car seat and the giant teddy bear in. I've got enough time to surprise Jess at the airport…." Booth smiled ad followed Aubrey outside.
