Chapter 9 - I'm Not The Bad Guy

Alyssa and Kat both walk into the kitchen where the smell of freshly baked pizza sits in the air. Both of the girls avoid the cooks as they make their way over to a small metal table out of the way. The cooks continue making the pizza or tossing around the salads here and there for the kids and adults as the girls sit down at the table. A two-sided pizza was laid out on a serving dish for the employees who went on break, and lucky for them, it was still hot. The brunette quickly grabs a piece of one side of a two-sided pizza, one side "Meat Lovers" and the other double cheese. She picks it up and folds it like a hot dog bun and takes a bite. "Pizza is amazing!" she mumbles happily through her stuffed mouth, pulling the slice away from her as strings the gooey cheese stretch between the gaps.

Kat was already halfway done with a slice of the double cheese pizza while looking extremely happy. "Mmmhmm!" the redhead nods with a large smile and full mouth.

After swallowing, Alyssa looks at her friend while licking her lips free of the cheese and pizza grease. "So, you're familiar with the Fred-gang and stuff, but you never ventured out through the building?" the night guard asks curiously. "I figured you'd want to explore more."

The pirate girl looks at her and swallows her bite. "Well, I just like hanging out in Pirate's Cove most of the time. It's kinda homey," she explains before taking another bite of the cheesy pizza.

Alyssa giggles, understanding her completely. "I feel ya." Resting an elbow on the table and her head against her palm, the employee looks up as she remembers the happy memories she had in the pizzeria as a kid. "I remember my dad and mom taking me and my sister here all the time, but I wasn't able to get into the private room until I was invited to a party there," she starts to explain. "And after seeing Foxy, I literally fell in love with him!" Realization hits her like a bunch of bricks as she quickly shakes her head. A hot flush of red floods her cheeks in embarrassment. "Ah! I can't believe I just said that!"

The other female just giggles at her reaction but covers her mouth full of pizza. After swallowing, Kat speaks up again. "Aw! Don't worry, I won't tell a soul," she reassures her. "Foxy is really cute." Looking up a bit in her own world, obviously thinking of memories as a cute blush flashes onto her cheeks as well.

Still feeling a little embarrassed, but slowly calming down, Alyssa chuckles. "Heh heh… I've never told anyone about that. Not even my mom or sister... But I'm glad I told you so we both have something else in common." The night guard takes another bite of the now lukewarm pizza, swallowing before asking, "How did you meet him? And the other three?"

"Like any other person: coming to Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria!" Kat explains happily, extending her arms out to gesture to the area for added effect.

"But you said you've never been in the main room. So, how would you know 'bout them when all you do is come in through the doors to the main room, then to Pirate's Cove?"

"Actually, I said I don't go there often, not never," the younger female points out matter-of-factly.

Alyssa sighs, "Right… Sorry... " Blushes a little as she continues her apology. "I tend to kinda lose my mind and forget things easily."

"It's fine! Happens to the best of us," the pirate comforts as she takes another bite of her pizza.

With a shrug, the Fazbear employee takes another bite of the pizza and gulps it down. "So, do you live around here? Where are you from?" she asks to change the topic.

"I'm from the area; been here most of my life," she explains with a mouth full of pizza, then swallows. "Yourself?"

"Lived here my whole life, too. I'm kinda sick of it actually."

Kat tilts her head a bit at her response. "Oh? What's boring about it?"

"Well…" the brunette starts and sets the pizza down on her plate and folds her arms, resting them on the edge of the metal table. If you live in one place long enough, you tend to want to go somewhere and travel, see new places. I mean... this town is perfectly normal, but I think it's just too boring for me."

"But this is the only Fazbear's restaurant in the world! …I think," Kat says and puts a finger to her chin, thinking about it.

Alyssa has to think about it as well. "Hmm… I could've sworn there was another one I read about somewhere…" she says, then shrugs. Picking up the pizza slice, the night guard takes another bite and swallows. "Oh well, this place is great anyways. Except at night…"

The pirate girl moves her head from side to side, kinda understanding how her friend feels. "Eh, I guess you would just have to get used to the staring, huh?" the redhead jokes with a chuckle.

Alyssa lowers her pizza with a confused expression. "Staring?"

Kat looks around to make sure no one was listening, then leans over the table a bit and whispers, "You know, the eyes of the animatronics?"

The brunette blinks, then says, "I'm okay with them… but something about them at night feels… downright terrifying." Setting the pizza on the plate again, she talks quietly. "My first night here, they looked so innocent and somehow happy on stage, but at night they're demons... ! I don't know what's going on with them…"

Looking at the guard confused, and possibly offended, but Kat hides it pretty well and asks, "Demons?"

Alyssa leans back in her seat and starts trying to explain. "I don't know… I loved all of them... But after the first night, I felt betrayed," she admits, holding her arms and looking down at her pizza, not really caring if it was getting cold. "Freddy sang the birthday song to me, Bonnie played his guitar for me, Chica sang with me, Foxy told me stories… And that night… I felt so scared and heartbroken."

Hearing all this makes Kat start feeling really bad about everything she was going through and seriously considered telling Alyssa her secret right then and there. But knowing a certain someone would get mad at her, she decides to keep it to herself for the time being. "Hey, don't feel that way," the redhead tries to comfort with a soft smile. "It's been a long time. Maybe they just didn't recognize you since you're all grown up."

The older female could only smile a little, feeling both sad, but happy that this girl she had just met was trying to comfort her. "I guess… I probably look like a grandma to them 'cause I'm older now," she jokes lightly.

Kat chuckles with her. "Nah. You're a beautiful young lady."

Alyssa couldn't help but blush a little at the comment. "Thank you. That's actually the first compliment I've gotten that didn't sound creepy," she chuckles.

"Seriously?!" the redhead asks with shock and a slight laugh.

The employee rests her arms against the table again. "Yeah, Vincent did compliment me, yet he's acting like how a pervert would. So, I really appreciate it," the brunette says with a warm smile.

"Did I hear my glorious name being spoken?~" Both girls jump and turn their attention to the said man by the door. He was leaning up against the edge of the entryway with his arms crossed and one leg wrapped behind the other. His smirk still plastered on his face making Kat blush and Alyssa gag. The guard pushes himself off the edge of the doorway and walks over to the two, pulling out a chair and plonking himself down next to Kat. "Hey, kitty Kat~ Was wondering where you two lovely ladies were~"

Kat's blush only grew redder from his compliment. Giving him a small smile, she decides to speak up. "H-Hey Vincent," she greets the guard bashfully, turning away from him to stare down at her pizza.

'Speak of the devil... ' Alyssa thinks to herself with a sigh, "What do you want, Vincent?" the female guard asks as she looks his way, annoyed he had to come in and ruin the moment.

Vincent turns away from his new playmate over to her, replying, "I got hungry, so I came to eat on my lunch break, and then I found you two~" His grin only grew, making Alyssa glare more furiously at him. As he talks, he snatches a piece of pizza from the box right out from under her nose and holds it up to his mouth. "Lucky me, huh?~" he smirks.

The brunette crosses her arms. "We're busy. And who said you could have any of our pizza? Get your own."

Vincent takes a bite of the slice anyway, ignoring her rude comeback, then swallows before speaking, "I don't see you two eating all this yourselves. And all you were doing was gawking like normal schoolgirls."

"Alyssa, he's not doing anything wrong. At least... not at the moment," Kat speaks up, trying to ease the mood a bit. "He's just hungry, so he can have a slice or two."

Alyssa, still glaring at him, grits her teeth while contemplating what to do. He is being an ass, but so far Vincent hasn't tried to do anything shady to her, nor Kat. Not yet at least. She slowly leans back in her chair, giving up the fight. "Just wait…" she whispers.

"Aww... You really have that much faith in me? How rude," he comments in a sarcastic kind of tone but grins at her.

Kat quickly covers her mouth, chuckling at his behavior, but she doesn't realize she is only putting more fuel on his fire. Alyssa ignores his sarcasm while keeping her glare locked onto his cold dark eyes. "How long is your break…? Or there really isn't a time since your whole day is spent goofing off and hitting on women," she scoffs.

Vincent finishes half of his slice, getting close to the crust while keeping an eye on her. "Hey, I do my work, unlike you," he mocks, smirking a sinister grin. "Instead of watching the kids in the main room, you've been off hanging out with the cute redhead here~ I'm not wrong, am I?~"

The fuming brunette keeps her body still, trying very hard not to slap the smirk off his face. "You said I wasn't even supposed to be here for a morning shift. So frankly, I'm not working till 12:00. I'm showing my new friend here around the place since you're not "friend" material in my eyes," Alyssa fights back, putting enough venom in her words to kill a man where he stands.

Waving his hand at her, he leans back in his seat after setting the half-eaten pizza down back in the box making the female feel even more disgusted with him. "Call me what you want. It won't change the fact that I'll still be your co-worker. You're stuck with me till the day you either quit or get your head stuffed in a suit~" he chuckles.

"Co-worker or not, you shouldn't act like this here, nor anywhere else. In fact, I'd like to see a mother backhand you for even looking at the child since your perverted face is stuck with that sick grin…!"

"That's the thing, doll face~ Unlike you, I can hide my emotions until they're needed~"

"But apparently you can't hide that vile look off your face. I always see you ready to attack me, Kat, or any other girl for that matter. So, it's only a matter of time till someone figures it out and takes you away for good."

Vincent wrapped his hands behind his head enjoying her frustration, knowing she had nothing to say that could hurt him. "So, you think~ Sad to say, baby doll, but I won't be taken away so easily~"

Kat, still sitting on the sidelines, watching both of them go off one by one. She tries to cut in to stop the fight before it gets any worse. "Alyssa... Please calm down. This won't solve any-" she quietly interrupts, hoping it'll calm her friend down, but she only gets cut off by the older female.

"I would, but he's still here poisoning the air, so I can't take a breather till he's gone," Alyssa growls, keeping her eyes glued to the man in purple.

"Harsh," Vincent slowly stands up and pushes in his chair. "Fine. I'll leave so you can breathe again. See you two around," he says, sounding hurt from what Alyssa said. He picks up the slice of pizza he was working on and turns away, heading to the door leading back to the main room.

Kat quickly stands up from her chair, sadly watching him leave. "Vincent, wait!" the redhead calls to the male.

"No no, it's fine. Alyssa doesn't want me around, so be it." With that, he exits the room, leaving the two girls alone.

Sitting back down, Kat slowly turns back to Alyssa, looking distraught over what just happened. Something she was afraid was leading to. "That wasn't very nice…" she quietly scolds her friend, looking down at the pizza box.

Alyssa turns her attention away from the door and back to her pirate friend, still holding her glare seeing that Kat was actually taking his side rather than hers. "I still don't trust him, Kat," she mopes, slowly relaxing her features as she crosses her arms and lays them down on the table. "You might like him 'cause of his compliments, but you need to be careful around him."

"That doesn't give you a reason to be mean to him…!" Kat quickly bursts out, obviously not happy. "He came in for something to eat and you started making nasty comments to him..."

"Did you not hear what he was saying? Even before all this, he was being rude, too!" Alyssa tries to say, wanting Kat to see her perspective on the situation.

"Does it really matter who was being ruder to the other...? 'Cause, in the end, you're both at fault…" Kat's words quickly stop Alyssa's childish arguing. No matter how much she wanted to continue, or even disagree with her, Kat was right.

The female employee sighs heavily, hanging her head low while trying hard to not feel guilty for what she said. "Yeah… I get it," she groans and looks back up at her. "But remember what I told you about him? You can't trust him."

Kat's mood expression changes to a stubborn one. "So, you're just going to treat him like trash?! That's not very fair…" she scolds. "Everyone deserves to be treated fairly, no matter what their past may look like! We all deserve a second chance... Just apologize to him." Calming herself down, she turns away to look at the clock on the wall. "It's getting late. I need to go. It was nice meeting you, Alyssa. You made today the best day ever. Even if we had a little problem here and there," she smiles softly before turning away to leave the room.

Alyssa quickly stands up in protest. "But I... ! He…!" With a sigh of defeat, she sits back down and stares at the half-eaten slice of pizza that was now completely cold. "Why am I feeling guilty towards someone who would kill in seconds...?" the night guard asks herself. "Damn it…" Standing up, Alyssa picks the food up off the table, then brings it over to a large garbage bin and dumps it, along with the plates, inside. Dusting her hands off and the guard groans, "I'm so gonna regret this…" then walks off out of the kitchen to face the prick in purple.
