In the calm of a summer evening, two young women were peacefully watching the tv. Kiyoko was sitting in her sofa, staring at the movie they had chosen without really watching it, the warmth making her less attentive. Lowering distractedly her gaze, a smile graced her lips. Between her knees, leaning against the base of the sofa, Yachi seemed about to fall asleep, her never-ending nervousness finally leaving her. Her features were relaxed and Kiyoko felt her affection for the other girl overwhelming her softly, a warmth that had nothing to do with the season making her smile widen.
Their relationship had been lasting for two months and had followed a solid friendship of a year but the younger was still nervous around Kiyoko, making this kind of moment all the more precious to her. Straightening slightly, she lost what little interest she had in the movie and chose to focus on Yachi instead. The short blonde was bravely fighting off her sleepiness but it was clear that the fight was already lost, her lids closing longer and her body leaning more and more heavily on the sofa. The light that was coming from a window nearby seemed to soften her features and Kiyoko could almost feel the sleepiness taking her adorable girlfriend. The blonde hair, so different from hers that was as dark as it could get, looked soft and she didn't resist her desire to test that theory.
Stretching her hand out, she gently put it on Yachi's head. The latter jumped and raised her head towards Kiyoko, a confused look on her face. The older smiled tenderly to her while pushing out the golden locks that were hiding Yachi's brown eyes : "You were falling asleep. I'm sorry for waking you up, I didn't want to disturb you. Your hair looked soft," Kiyoko simply explained, still playing with the strands of hair she was holding.
Yachi paused for a moment, trying to wake herself completely so as to process what the other girl had just said. Kiyoko, amused, could see the exact moment where the blonde understood what had happened. Yachi straightened abruptly, which forced the older to let go of the hair she was holding, and turned towards Kiyoko to be able to face her, her cheeks red in embarassment. Mouth open on what was certainly a flood of apologies that had neither head nor tail, she seemed ready to burry herself deep in the ground. Before Kiyoko could even think of holding herself back, she let out a small chuckle with a calm: "You are adorable." Her adoration for Yachi was making her heart swell almost painfully and she couldn't have stopped from smiling even if she had wanted to. Yachi stopped before she could even talk, stood there speechless while the red on her cheeks turned crimson, then her anxious nature came back: "I, I'm so sorry for almost falling asleep Shimizu... I didn't want to bother you- evn if I know that you're gonna say that it doesn't bother you but- it's just that I would rather have stayed awake so we could spend time together? And we haven't seen each other in a while and I'm so so so sorry for that and- oh my God, it's already late! I hadn't thought it would be so late- I mean, I thought it had been only mere minutes and- oh- wait- you said I was- oh." Kiyoko only listened to her, letting her calm down by herself and enjoying the adorable view Yachi was at the moment. The latter had pressed her hands on her face, desperatly trying to hide her embarassment that was nonetheless still perfectly visible on her reddened ears.
When Yachi started to curl up under her shame, Kiyoko frowned and raised carefully her blonde head before kissing gently her forehead. This action had the merit of snapping Yachi out her anxiety, the blonde gaping at her girlfriend. Kiyoko took the occasion to say soothingly: "You have nothing to be sorry for. Truth be told, I'm glad you feel so at ease that you can fall asleep here. And you only leave tomorrow evening so you can relax, don't worry."
The brunette lead gently Yachi by her shoulders into their previous position. She felt guilty for making her girlfriend nervous and wasn't sure of how to make it better. The younger appeared to try and find some interest in the movie but Kiyoko could see at her stiff back that she was still embarassed by the way she almost fell asleep. A little unsure and reluctant to make her even more uneasy, Kiyoko stretched her hand out towards her girlfriend again. She let it hover a few centimeters away from Yachi's head, hesitated one last time then finally asked her: "May I?" The blonde turned towards her and saw the hand stretched out. She apparently didn't understand immediatly, her eyes going from the hand to Kiyoko before her eyes widened slightly when she got what the brunette meant. Blushing then -and God was she cute like that, her girlfriend thought lovingly-, Yachi nodded before turning her back to Kiyoko to try and hide her flushed face. With a delighted smile, the older burried her hands in the golden strands of the younger, marvelling at their softness. She started to run her fingers through Yachi's hair, leaning forward to play more easily with it. The brunette sank her fingers a bit more firmly, letting her nails scratch the head of the young girl, curious as to what reaction she would have. When Yachi sighed happily and let her head rest in her hands, Kiyoko felt her heart swell with love and the smile already there on her lips grew, becoming radiant. The tension that had been present in the blonde's shoulders seemed to evaporate along with the movements Kiyoko was doing on her head and she was soon dozing off again. Her head becoming heavier in her hands, the older carrfully let it rest on the sofa and took advantage of the now raised face to let her fingers slide down her appeased features. She was tracing with the tip of her fingers her nose, her brow, her cheekbones, the curve of her jaw. Kiyoko was letting her hands learn each and every curve of Yachi's face, trying to engrave them in her memory until the end of time. The contentment was washing over both of them and they enjoyed the moment, in the calm of a summer evening.
