Chapter 13 - Almost Time To Work
Around 10, the last of the families from the party are enjoying the food, games, and entertainment as the workday comes to an end.
'BEEP! BEEP!' rings out from Alyssa's phone alarm as the hour changes over to 10:00 pm. The sleeping brunette groans as she finally starts to wake up. "Ugh… Huh?" she moans sleepily as her eyes flutter slightly open. Her vision is blurry at best, for the moment. After turning off her alarm, she carefully sits up straight and rubs her eyes clear of sleep, then opens them again to reveal her clear sight. For a moment Alyssa loses track of where she is as she looks around the room, but her memories quickly return. "Oh yeah... I forgot…" Stretching her arms above her head, she lets out a yawn. "Okay… Almost time to start my shift," she says aloud as the guard takes off her headphones and stuffs them and her phone back into her messenger bag.
A knock echoes from the locked door of Pirate's Cove, followed by the slick tone of the man in purple. "Hey doll face, you alive in there?~" Vincent asks her through the door. Even without seeing him, she could feel the smug grin in his voice...
"Maybe I should go back to sleep and not mess with him…" the brunette groans, then calls back to the male as she grabs her keychains from off the table in front of her. "Yeah, I'm alive! Not that you'd care!"
"If I honestly didn't care, I would have left you in there for Foxy to get once midnight came around~" he laughs back at her.
Alyssa throws her bag over her shoulder with an annoyed look on her face. "Oh, wouldn't you like that…" she says while rolling her eyes. "Maybe Foxy wouldn't mind something purple with a little fat in his gut…" She walks back to the door and takes out the key from a pocket on her bag. With a flick of the wrist and a click, the door unlocks. As the female walks, her feeling is correct: Vincent has that same smug grin on his face with his hands in the pocket of his black pants. "Sorry, I don't do Girl Scout cookies…" she snidely remarks at the male.
Vincent only snickers at her remark. "Fifth night is usually the hardest of the week~ Try not to get stuffed~" he advises smoothly before turning and walking back down the hall towards the main party room.
"Yeah, 'cause me being stuffed would be a heartbreak…" she huffs while closing the door to Pirate's Cove.
The two employees both walk down the hall to the employee's room with Alyssa keeping her distance from the purple-wearing creep. Inside the room, they each approach their own respective locker; Vincent putting his things away to end his day shift, while Alyssa is getting out her things to begin her night shift.
Vincent puts his uniform back on its hanger before speaking again. "Well toots~" he starts while putting his hat back on the top shelf. "Guess I'll see ya on Monday if you survive tonight~" Chuckling, he puts his restaurant keys back inside the locker and grabs his own personal belongings before closing and locking his locker once more.
Alyssa packs her bag back into the locker, then takes out both her work shirt, pants, hat, flashlight, and keys before closing the locker again. "Yeah... Let's see if you'll be smiling still when I don't come back on Monday since I'll be quitting tonight after I get my paycheck," the night guard remarks matter-of-factly.
"Oh? You're actually quitting?" he asks curiously, then shrugs nonchalantly. "Alright. Well, good luck with your shift~" Vincent says smoothly and waves without looking at the brunette as he walks out of the employee's room.
Alyssa watches him leave, still feeling a little nervous about her shift tonight. Since the fourth is hard to begin with... tonight... they'll all be out for blood. Her blood. "Yeah... Whatever…" she mopes as she makes her way into the changing room, coming out 5 minutes later wearing her work uniform. The night guard walks back over to her locker and places her casual shirt inside. "I like this place, but I can't stand being around those animatronics any longer…" After she is sure she has everything, Alyssa closes her locker door and locks it for what she feels might be her last time.
As she walks out of the employee's room, Alyssa notices that everyone is now either finishing the clean-up or leaving the main party area to go home, wishing she could do the same. The guard watches the employees buff up the tables and sweep the floors as she carefully makes her way around them to stay out of the way. Pulling out her phone, she can see the time that reads '10:30 pm' letting her know she has an hour and a half till her shift is supposed to start.
As the night guard continues walking around the main room, she does her part by looking around for anyone hiding under tables or behind the stage while occasionally picking up a few pieces of trash or food items to assist the cleaners. Alyssa makes her way over to the stage again, taking one last look behind the three, seeing if anyone is hiding back there for the second time. She looks up at the three, noticing their happy faces still plastered on their heads, but something seems a little off with Freddy. She couldn't tell what, but something in his robotic eyes made her fears of the coming night take an even deeper root in her body. It almost looks like his eyes are angry, but he's still holding his usual smile. "Hardest of the week, huh?" Alyssa mumbles under her breath. "Well... after tonight, I'll be done with this. My fun memories here were shattered thanks to all of you…" Their faces never move as she speaks, almost as if they're giving her the silent treatment. "Not moving? Thoughts so… I can't believe these large toys I loved growing up want me dead. Just shows that childhood isn't what you think…"
After she's done quietly moping to the animatronics, Alyssa turns away from them, looking to the side where the Pirate's Cove party room is; she could have sworn she saw the door close, but it was closed before… wasn't it? "Huh?" Alyssa takes a few steps towards the door while checking to see if anyone else had noticed the open door. "Wasn't that door closed? ... Didn't Kat leave already?" Flipping out her flashlight, she slowly creeps her way towards the door, holding the small torch tightly. She grabs the knob and twists it. It isn't locked. 'Maybe a straggler stayed behind to hide in Pirate's Cove...' she mentally wonders.
She carefully opens the door and walks in. The room is dark once again... Turning on the flashlight, she moves over to the side of the wall flipping the switch on causing the room to glow brightly again in the light. Now, she would be able to find anyone still lurking around much easier. The stage is perfectly closed, the tables aren't turned over or messy, nothing seems out of the ordinary.
"Hmm…" The young employee carefully slips around the room, crouching down to find anyone under the tables. "Okay, come on out. Restaurant's closing, so you need to leave," Alyssa calls out, but everything is silent. She moves her attention to the covered stage, then to the few tables in the room, hesitating before she continues. "I know I saw someone come in here. Come out right now and you won't be in as much trouble as you already are." The silence continues to engulf the room, aside from her footsteps, making her think it's all in her head once again.
The brunette slowly makes her way over to the stage, stopping a few inches short of the platform. Grabbing one end of the curtain, she slowly pulls it aside. Foxy and Kitten are both standing on stage as usual along with a few props that are leaning up against the wall behind them. Alyssa moves her flashlight up at Foxy, then to Kitten, and finally behind them at the props. "Arg!" she grumbles, releasing her hold on the curtain and letting it fall slowly back into place. "Now, I'm really getting paranoid… This night five is getting worse for me and I'm not even clocked in yet!" She walks out of the room after shutting off the light and closing the door behind her.
By now, everyone is mostly gone, which means Alyssa is now alone in not just the main room, but in the entire building. After checking around once more and shutting off a few lights here and there, the night guard makes her way down the hall to the night guard office as the time quickly turns to 11:10 pm.
Walking silently into the office, Alyssa sits down in the rolling chair and leans back in it. "Ahhh… Last night…" she groans as she checks the clock on the wall behind her. "After tonight, I'll get my paycheck, then I'll quit so I can find a much safer job. Even if I have to give up my own heart to get it…"
