Chapter 14 - Last Night of the Week
Once the clock strikes 12:00, the power immediately switches over to the generator. The lights on the buttons light up, ready for another night of terror. Alyssa reaches her hands forward as she cracks her knuckles. "Let's get this started," she announces to herself, grabbing the fully charged tablet and turning it on. "Huh. Vincent did something right for a change."
She starts to flip through the camera views at top speed, checking on the main stage to see all three still in their appropriate places up on the stage; Pirate's Cove curtain is still closed, and the hall to bathrooms is empty. She decides to turn off the tablet to help save some power.
While Alyssa is busy surviving the night, Kitten, in her animatronic form, is standing behind the curtain while staying out of view from the camera. She is sitting down by the wall with her arms crossed. "Alright... Let's get this night over with…" she mumbles, her voice sounding like a robotic groan as her head hangs to hide her glowing eyes full of fear and anxiety.
Alyssa turns the light on at the left door but, thankfully, no one is there. She quickly turns it off then turns on the tablet to the stage noticing Bonnie is gone. He's always the first one gone.
Foxy, in his animatronic form, turns to his first mate with a solemn expression. He hates seeing her like this, but the night has started, and now it's time to hunt. Moving slowly, he walks over to her and kneels down on one knee to be more at her height. Kitten's head is turned away while shielding her eyes from his gaze. "Lass… I know yer hurt. But..." he stops himself, fearing what he might say could make her mood worse.
Kitten says nothing and slowly pulls herself up, then walks over to and out the purple curtains, leaving him behind in a sorrowful mess. Alyssa flips the screen a couple of times till coming back to Pirate's Cove only to see the curtains open and Kitten now out. "Hey, Kitten... You gonna be nice tonight?" she asks the screen as if the animatronic could hear her, but knowing full well that they can't. Her features are still frozen in place as usual, but for some reason… Kitten looks… sad. "That's strange... Why do you look like that?" Alyssa thinks out loud while flipping the screen to the main room, seeing Bonnie and Chica standing between the tables, then switches the view to the stage to see Freddy still standing where he belongs.
While the night guard continues to watch for her 'enemies,' Kitten slowly moves out from her hiding place to sit down on the edge of the stage. Right now, she didn't care if Alyssa saw her out like this. All she wanted was for this day to be over and to hopefully see her new friend again. In his robotic form, Foxy remains behind the curtain, staying in the shadows and out of view of the camera. "Kitten… What're ye doin'?" he harshly whispers, sounding half angry and half worried.
After a moment of pause, Kitten finally responds with the word, "Sitting." She doesn't turn her head to him, but her mechanical ears adjust slightly to hear him better.
Her captain sighs at this. "I know, but ye need to be hidin' in 'ere!" Foxy instructs, poking his head out, staring down at her, then at the camera. "Ye said ya can't hurt her, so try ta hide in 'ere."
The pirate cat just sighs back at him, pretending to not hear her captain. "You know... Alyssa said she loved everyone here when she was little..." the feline starts, sounding very depressed at what she was going to say next. "But now, she feels betrayed because her childhood memories of happiness are now hunting her down and trying to kill her…"
Foxy turns his head away sadly, feeling full of regret, but there is nothing he can do about his actions. It's just instinct as far as Kitten is concerned. "I'm sorry, lassy... I wish we could do less ta hurt her…" he consoles.
The robotic cat 'exhales.' "All she wanted, as a kid, were two things. One, to be your first mate. Two, ta receive one of those large Freddy plush dolls and cuddle with it... That's all she wanted...!"
"She's told ye all that?" Foxy is astonished that some new guard was actually telling his partner all her secrets, unaware of what and who she really is. This girl must really trust Kitten. "I've met so many young kiddies, I… I jus' can't remember 'er…" After that, Foxy carefully moves out of the curtains and down off the stage but moves to stand next to his first mate. "I'm sorry this happened to ya."
Kitten shakes her head and explains, "She took this job because of her sister's medical needs. She's just earning some extra money to help her after their dad went crazy and shot her sister in the frickin' spine!" The feline covers her face with her hands, feeling like she could cry, but sadly, unable to in her animatronic form.
The captain turns around to face her. If he was in his human form, he would have a horrified look on his face. "R-Really? Th-That happened to 'er?" he asks with a 'gasp.' The red fox turns around with his back to her as he puts his metal hand on the back of his head, now feeling a bit sorry for the night guard. It sort of reminded him of what happened to him and his friends on that horrible day…
While the two continue to talk, Alyssa is doing her best to keep both Bonnie and Chica out of the office. While doing so, she begins to wonder why both Kitten and Foxy haven't made their usual appearances yet. As the brunette continues to flip the hall lights on and off, as well as shutting and opening the heavy metal doors, she quickly checks the cameras again. Now's the time to be careful, she has around 80% of her battery power left. Alyssa flips the screen to Pirate's Cove to see both Kitten and Foxy out, but they were in different positions than normal. Why was Kitten sitting down with her head in her hands, and Foxy looking away from her with a... look of sorrow? "What in the… I've never seen them like this. What's going on-" She is immediately cut off by the sound of deep and low laughing. This definitely isn't comforting...
Alyssa darts towards both of the doors, pressing both door buttons to close them, and sits back in her chair. Moving towards the wall, the young lady is keeping an eye on a specific animatronic. Her heart begins to race rapidly. The fear of her time on earth ending abruptly is now coming to life…
Kitten moves her head off her hands to talk to the older pirate fox. "That's why I don't want you adding extra pressure to her tonight...!" she scolds, feeling her body heat up in anger. "She already has it hard enough! She's so nice and cares so much for all of you guys… She even has these little, old key chains of you and Bonnie. Her mom gave them to her…!"
Foxy is slightly taken aback by her disciplinary tone aimed at him. "She has 'em of us two? I'm not sure if we can..." The fox animatronic mumbles under his breath, "We should've talked ta Freddy earlier… That 'ole bear might've given 'er a break like ye said."
Kitten's body slowly cools down, now feeling nervous at the sound of his name. After all they talked about the other three, Freddy sounded very scary to her. "I've never spoken to him. I highly doubt he'd listen to someone he just met and just started working here."
"He knows yer me first mate. I'd do anythin' to help ya." He turned around giving her a caring smile, "Besides, jus' think o' 'im as a cuddly teddy bear with an attitude."
At the sound of that, she looks up at him only to chuckle in a weird robotic tone. "You always know how to make me laugh," she smiles a bit.
Foxy shrugs. "I am good at makin' young lass's smile," he beams proudly, then continues. "What I'm also good at, is bein' there fer me ship mates. If I can be there fer 'em, ye can too."
Kitten's eyes widen a bit and gives him her full attention. "Wait... Are you telling me to go to the office? To disobey the rules and-"
"I'm tellin' ye to do what ye think is right," the pirate interrupts. "If she be such an important lass to ya, then do what ye can to help 'er. Don' worry 'bout anyt'ing but keepin' that girl safe."
The younger redhead couldn't believe what she was hearing. At first, he hated her being out in the open with lots of people when she was her human form. Even around Alyssa, he's scolded her a couple of times. Why all of a sudden is he letting her go? Maybe he's giving her a chance to finally have a friend that she can stay with to protect her. He might be giving her a chance to stand up for herself. The thought quickly brings a smile to her face as she quickly stands up and tackle hugs him so tightly his metal arms almost bend out of shape. "Thank you!" she bursts out with determination and quickly darts back up onto the stage, throwing the curtain to the side, and heads for the back wall.
Foxy smiles proudly as he watches her transform into her human form and crawl into the metal shafts. He may be happy for her, but he still needs to teach her not to use those. 'I may get the boot from ol' Freddy, but I'd do anyt'ing ta help 'er.'
As Alyssa flips through the screens, now at 65% at 1 am, her fears continue to grow, including her anger for the confounded system. "Argh! What do I do? My power is halfway gone and I still have five hours left! I'm really gonna die tonight…!" she cries, throwing the tablet onto the table and placing her elbows on the surface, resting her head in her hands while feeling distressed.
Down the hall, a few doors from the office, a shaft flings open as Kitten crawls out of the system. She turns to her right, then left of the hall to make sure Bonnie and/or Chica wouldn't see her. The redhead quickly jumps up to her feet and hides both her ears and tail like before, then immediately takes off towards the office. To not show suspicion, Kitten puts up a panicked expression and quickens her breaths to make it look like she was running from something. "ALYSSA!" she screams to get the guard's attention.
And it works. Alyssa immediately throws her head up in a panic, looking back and forth. "What the hell?!" she shouts, not expecting the other voice. She jumps up from her chair and runs out of the office where she heard the scream, forgetting to check if Bonnie was outside the door. Thankfully, he wasn't there. Turning on her keychain light, the brunette is able to see the small figure of her friend running towards her. Before she can even say a word, Kitten throws herself onto Alyssa forcing her to fall onto her back.
"K-Kat!" she gasps, giving the pirate a tight and protective hug. "What the hell are you doing here at this hour?!" Alyssa pushes her off and sits up to check Kat over for any scratches, bruises, or anything worse. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she asks in a panic.
"I'm alright. I'm okay, really...! Quick! Get in the office!" Kat instructs, grabbing her hand to help her friend up and pulls her back into the office.
Alyssa turns away from her and quickly presses runs to the other side, flipping the switch on. She lets out a long breath and turns the light off. The Fazbear employee turns back to face Kat, who is still feeling a little shaky from running. "What are you doing here? I checked everywhere but-" she trails off, but Kat picked it up for her.
"I… umm… hid in the maintenance shaft again," the pirate girl informs her, looking away nervously.
Alyssa's eyes widen. "Ugggh!" she groans, smacking her hand on her face a lot harder than normal. "I completely forgot that… At least you're safe. You'll need to stay here with me till 6. Are you okay with that?"
Kat nods."Yeah, I'm fine with that. That's why I came here, actually. Want me to watch this door?" she asks, pointing to the left door she just came in.
Alyssa nods back. "If you can, yes." With that, she walks back to the desk and grabs the tablet, turning it on to see how much power is left. "Great, 60%! And it's still 1 am…!" She turns to her friend and says, "Press the light switch and, if you see Bonnie, shut the door. If Foxy runs down, immediately shut it. Okay?"
The younger female responds by giving her a thumbs up and a smile. "Easy enough. So, how's it been going?"
Sitting back down, the female night guard keeps the tablet with her, but also keeps herself close to the door so she would be able to press the buttons faster if needed. "Oh, you know... Just trying to survive the night. Maybe get a steak burger after this," she jokes with obvious sarcasm as she flips through the cameras to see Bonnie down the hall and Chica near the bathrooms. "They're really aggravated tonight…"
Alyssa hears a sigh from the other side of the room, causing her to look up at her friend. "Well, at least they're calming down tonight, I guess," Kat mutters under her breath.
"Calm?" the night guard asks in surprise that she would even consider using that word now. "Chica appeared at the door three times in ten minutes and Bonnie just stood at the door for fifteen…" Alyssa quickly grumbles to herself, rubbing her eyes with her thumb and pointer. "Hey, Kat?"
"Yeah?" she asks with a slight tilt of her head.
"I just wanted to say… Thanks for being here, and also being a great friend. Makes me feel like my sister is back home with me…" the brunette admits with a small, yet sad, smile.
Kat gives her a bright smile, unaware that Alyssa is saying this because she feels like it might be their last night together. "You're welcome. I look forward to seeing you on Monday," she chuckles.
The young lady then turns away and her smile quickly fades. "Yeah…" She looks back down at the tablet and flips through a few screens. She feels bad for lying to her, but knowing how Kat might react, as well as the predicament they're both in, she doesn't want to put more salt on the wound. Alyssa shifts her gaze to the power gauge, seeing it down to 58% and the time reads 2 am. Sighing quietly to herself, she looks up and checks the light on the right to see Chica there. After jumping a bit from the sudden scare, the guard quickly turns off the light, shuts the door, and angrily shouts, "Like I said before, bring some food next time!"
The redhead giggles at her friend's little joke. "I don't think the kitchen is open now," she smiles. Alyssa can only roll her eyes at the naive girl.
Alyssa quickly flips through the screens until she stops on Chica looking up at the camera, her head seeming to twitch as if she's being possessed. "That's new…" the guard mutters.
"What's new?" Kat asks, walking over to see the screen.
Moving the tablet to the side, she shows the pirate girl Chica's twitchy head on the screen. "That never happened before. For the past four nights, they've just stood there motionless. Now, she's freaking out," Alyssa explains while flipping the camera view over towards the broom closet to see Bonnie staring upwards at the camera, acting just like Chica: head twitching rapidly. "It's like they're really possessed…"
Kat's face immediately grows pale at the sound of that word. 'Oh no… I bet they're pissed off at me. Foxy and I are in for a great weekend with them…' she thinks, fearing what the outcome might be for her and Foxy. 'I have to keep them from coming in here! And I know exactly how to do it.' She raises her head up to Alyssa's level and says, "Hey, check to see if Freddy is on stage or not. If he isn't, we're really in trouble."
Staring back at her in fear, she nods in response, then turns her attention down to the tablet as Kat walks back over to her side of the room. Alyssa quickly flips the screen to the stage and her eyes widen. "He's not there! Where is he? He's never moved before!" she cries as she flips through each camera, hoping to find him.
The red-headed girl looks out the right door with a determined look on her face. "Not today, Freddy," she whispers solely to herself, shutting the door quickly before turning back to her friend. "Check the left hallway Camera B."
Alyssa does what she's instructed, flipping to the picture of the party tables, noticing Chica is by one of them, and looking directly at the camera. No Freddy in sight. This is very new to her. Vincent never told her Freddy could move off the stage. He only stays there 'till the power goes off from what he mentioned. Why is it different tonight? Alyssa throws the tablet back on the table and grips her head tightly, now panicking like never before. "I-I can't do this! I can't do this anymore!" she cries out in a panic, shutting her eyes tightly, hoping this is all just a horrible nightmare she just has to wake up from. "I'm not used to this! I'm not!"
"No one should be..." the younger girl says somberly. While Alyssa tries her best to calm herself down, Kat keeps her hand glued on the door button, as she continues to watch without the guard in the room knowing. She was using what little power she has to keep the doors and lights from blowing out. Whatever is going to happen to her, she doesn't care anymore. Even if Freddy does dismantle her, or possibly shut her down for good, she isn't caring one bit. All she can think about right now is keeping Alyssa safe from the others. "Just worry about Bonnie and keep an eye on Foxy, though he shouldn't bother you too much tonight," Kat says to try and calm her down.
Alyssa slowly looks up from her hands to her friend. "W-What do you mean?" she asks.
"We're halfway through the night and he hasn't shown up once to run at you. Correct?"
"I guess that's true… but with Foxy, who knows what he'll think." She slowly picks up the tablet and flips through the screens again. "Come to think of it… I haven't seen Kitten anywhere. And the tablet is still active, so... she must've broken down tonight."
Kat bites her bottom lip. That excuse could buy her time tonight unless Alyssa slowly puts two and two together. Although, she has noticed that some humans can be slow when it comes to putting pieces of a hard puzzle together. She grips her hat and pulls it down further to keep it secure on her head. "Sh-She might be tonight… Maybe they want her functional for the next party," she shrugs while looking out the door still for Chica or Freddy. "Don't forget to check for Bonnie."
As if a light bulb just went off in her head Alyssa quickly sets the tablet down. "Oh right!" Turning away from the tablet to the door and turning on the light, Alyssa sees Bonnie right in front of her. After a short flinch and a quick squeak of surprise, she quickly presses the door button only to hear a weird clicking noise as it refuses to shut. "What the…? Why… Why isn't it shutting?!" she cries out, sitting up from her chair and starts rapidly smashing the door button, begging, "Please shut! Please shut! Shut! Shut! Shut!"
The pirate girl's eyes widen in fear as she turns away to the other door. Bonnie's eyes are black with white pupils staring down at both her and Alyssa. He looks ready to reach inside the office, grab her neck, and choke. 'Crap! Stupid doors! Foxy never told me about this!' she screams in her head. Kat quickly opens her door and runs over to the other side of the small room, pushing herself in between Alyssa and the button. "Alyssa move! And do not look at the tablet! If you do, you. WILL. Die," the redhead sternly instructs.
Alyssa's eyes widen in horror, not understanding her sudden seriousness. "What?" she shouts, only to be pushed away by Kat. Alyssa throws the tablet onto the desk and quickly backs away from the door. "Kat! What are you doing?! Get away!"
Ignoring her cries, the said redhead stares up at Bonnie with a determined look. Bonnie doesn't even look at her; he seems to be solely focused on Alyssa. Kat could tell that he isn't himself right now. After watching them for a few days, after joining the crew, she notices them acting differently only at night. However, for some reason, Kat's actions don't change when the sun disappears. His round plastic eyes show no kindness in them; only eyes full of want to kill. She glares at him, placing her hand on the door button, and softly says in a threatening tone, "Not today." Pressing the button, the door finally shut as usual. After releasing a breath the female unknowingly was holding, Kat turns to her friend and instructs, "Close the left door before checking the tablet again."
Alyssa is in shock, stunned, to say the least, and she's unable to move. Her eyes are glued on the younger female. How in the world did she do that? The door wasn't able to shut when she tried, but Kat was able to close it. "Alright…" she responds with a slight nod. Turning the left light on, Alyssa sees Chica in the window with her mouth open. "Are they ganging up on us?" the brunette guard asks as a shiver runs down her spine, then shuts the right door quickly.
"Heh, I wouldn't be surprised if they were," the redhead admits. "What time is it?"
The night guard walks back to the desk and picks up the tablet again, turning it on to view the clock in the corner. "3 am…"
Kat sighs at this new information, then asks, "And power percent?"
Taking another glance at the tablet, Alyssa sighs. "40%..."
"Just keep the doors shut and don't check the tablet anymore," Kat instructs her friend, keeping a hand on the door button.
"Alright…" Placing the tablet back down on the desk, Alyssa walks over and stands next to the right door. However, she slowly turns to look at the young pirate girl, obvious feelings of terror and fear plastered on the guard's face, and asks her curiously, "Kat… do you know what is really going on?"
With a sigh, she nods. "Yeah... I do. But could you please shut the door first?"
After pressing the button and shutting the door, not even bothering to check the light, Alyssa turns back to her friend, waiting for an answer. "Well...?"
Not wanting to lie to the older female, the redhead decides to come up with an answer as close to the truth as she can make it. "The animatronics are upset with me…" she starts, looking at the guard without taking her hand off the door button. "I snuck in here to help you complete the week because I knew it was going to be hard." Kat looks away before continuing. "I've heard of too many people not being seen after Friday when they work the night shift here…" If her ears were showing, they'd be flat against her head. "I just... didn't want to see you hurt. So, I hid in the maintenance shaft and waited for the right moment to come out to get to the office."
Alyssa is surprised this young lady, who she had just recently met, would go through so much just for her safety. Hearing this, the brunette couldn't be mad at the pirate girl, but she definitely feels sad hearing her words. "Kat... So... it's because of me that you're here and might…" Alyssa starts aloud, tearing up at her self guilt, feeling horrible for dragging this innocent into her mess. The guard gets up and walks over to the younger girl, wrapping her arms around her friend, giving her a tight hug as a few tears slide down the guard's face onto Kat's shoulder. "I'm sorry...! I'm so sorry!" she sobs.
Kat can only hug her crying friend with her free arm. "Don't worry. We're going to get out of this alive," she comforts, gently rubbing Alyssa's back.
The guard's grip holds tight as she continues to sob. "We're running fast on both doors and lights and it's not even five yet! How will we be able to survive?"
The pirate pulls back to look at the guard and smiles happily. "There's actually a glitch in the power system, I learned," she explains, looking at the button as she continues. "Every time I've held the door button down, the generator, for some reason, doesn't register the door as being closed and doesn't consume extra power. So, if we don't check the tablet or lights, the power won't go down crazy fast and we'll be safe!" Sure this isn't the exacttruth, but it's the only thing Kitten can think of to explain how she's able to keep the energy consumption at bay.
Alyssa sniffles and wipes her nose with her shoulder sleeve, processing this new information. "I... I see…" she nods. "Okay... But how will we be able to know what percent we're at? I have my watch to tell the time but... still…" the guard trails off, unable to finish her thought.
Thinking for a moment, Kat looks at the tablet and smiles, then turns back to her and suggests, "Well, you can glance at the tablet, just don't pick it up. Okay? We don't need to waste the power."
"R-Right…" the night guard stammers. "Still... I'm really really sorry... You're here because of me. We had a whole future of possibilities available to us. Now… we might not…" With sorrow in her tone, Alyssa looks down at her shoes.
The pirate's smile fades. "Alyssa... Please… I know you don't like it here…" she starts to beg and looks away. "And I know you feel betrayed…" Kat quickly turns to look back at Alyssa with a look of desperation. "But please...! Try and stay positive."
Seeing the pleading look in her friend's eyes is bad enough. With a sigh, the brunette looks back up at the redhead with a small, yet comforting, smile. "Okay... Thanks, Kat."
"Anything for a friend," Kat says and gives the brunette another hug.
The older female's smile grows bigger knowing she has a true friend to help her, even through these rough and deadly events. Alyssa returns the hug, but something causes her to cut it short. "Hang on... she says and pulls away to look at the other female. "What did you mean they were after you? I thought they were only wanting to kill me and the other night guards."
"Because I was able to outsmart and sneak around them. And because I'm now in here with and helping you, they now see me as a threat and are upset," the redhead informs her companion.
"That's a good reason... Well, since you're here helping me," the night guard starts, gripping her fists tightly. "I'll do what I can to take any punch, or stab, to keep them from getting to you!"
"Heh heh. Honestly, I thought the exact same thing when I was coming to help you," the younger girl admits with a small blush and a chuckle.
Alyssa smiles at how sweet Kat is being. "Aww, but you don't have to. I want to help you. You're like a young sister to me…" the brunette admits, then looks away with a blush. "Even though I don't know how old you are…"
The redhead shrugs at her friend's comment. "I'm sure you're older. Anyway, time should pass a bit quicker than normal, so we shouldn't be here for much longer."
"I hope so…" Alyssa says and crosses her arms. "Although, time goes slower when you're not doing anything…"
"Take a nap," Kat laughs half-jokingly.
"Not likely right now," Alyssa chuckles as the room is soon filled with nothing more than the sound of the metal fan whirling. However, even that sound is suddenly drowned out by a deep laughter echoing through the room before it fades out. "That… ruined the moment…" the guard shivers.
The younger female sighs. "Freddy does that when he's outside the door," she explains, looking at and giving him an annoyed glare through the door.
The brunette stares at the pirate girl, in complete shock and feeling utterly terrified. "H-He's outside the door…?!"
"Outside that door," Kat continues to inform and nods towards the right door where Chica usually comes from. "That's why I told you to close it."
"B-But what'll we do if he knows how to get in?! Vincent said there were times Freddy managed to bust in!" The next thing, Alyssa mumbles more to herself. "Even though I usually never believe him…"
"As long as the door stays shut, he can't get in," the pirate girl explains. Her thoughts start racing back to Foxy, wondering if he's okay since she is now sure that the others are upset with her. 'Would they go after him since he's my captain? ... I hope not…'
Now starting to panic, the older female looks back at the right window, barely seeing anything past the darkness. "These doors have been closed for a long time...! It might be wasting too much!"
Kat simply shakes her head with a small smile. "No. If I know the power usage about now, we are using the same amount of power as using the tablet alone. So, we should be fine." Even though this is a lie, Kitten had to say something that might even slightly make sense to her friend. The pirate girl knows they wouldn't have enough power, but she isn't planning on losing her only friend tonight.
Alyssa gulps, not quite following exactly, but trusting her surprisingly well-trained friend who IS currently keeping her alive. The sudden and familiar sound of metal feet running rapidly towards the office causes the brunette to jump back away from the left door. "Foxy's coming!" she shouts in a panic.
Not happy hearing that her captain is running down the hall towards the office, Kitten mentally groans. 'Foxy! Ugh…' Double-checking the left door, Kat says in comfort, "Don't worry, the door is closed."
Watching the door rattle with each hit from the fox is not comforting to Alyssa in the slightest, but once the banging stops, she's able to breathe again. "Thank god…" she breaths, taking off her hat to let down her medium-length hair. "I'm getting worn out from panicking…" the night guard admits as she uses the beak of her hat to fan herself.
Wanting to cheer up her stressed-out friend, Kat comments, "The good thing is that Foxy doesn't drain any power the first time he comes by and hits the door."
Alyssa exhales a breath she didn't realize she was holding in. "That's good…" Out of curiosity, the night guard asks, "Yet, this is the first time he's come down tonight. Is he broken up, too...?"
The younger female tilts her head at the comment and asks in slight confusion, "Broken up?"
The night guard looks over at the other female. "Like when I thought Kitten was broken down since she hasn't attacked once. So, since Foxy made his first move after at least four hours, he must be breaking down, too," she says, fixing her hat back into place and sighs. "Or… so I thought…"
"Well, Kitten is new, so she may still have some bugs. Foxy, though, has been running for years. So, I wouldn't expect him to break down now."
"I hope not… The kids really love him and his stories," Alyssa comments as she lifts her arm up to check the time on her watch. "3:49… Almost 4:00."
"We'll be alright," the redhead reassures her friend with a smile.
