Chapter 15 - Time to Go Home
DING DONG! DING DONG!
Both ladies release a loud and heavy sigh of relief at the sound of that bell. The final night of the week is over, no one got hurt, and everything is fine. All three of the animatronics are now back on stage where they belong.
Kat plops her bottom on the ground, leaning her back and head on the dusty wall. She pries her hand off the button before she sits down, letting the door open once more. "Finally…" she huffs out in relief.
Alyssa does the same but falls onto her hands and knees as if she had just crawled for her life. She hangs her head low, having her bangs cover her eyes. "Thank... heavenly... God...!" the guard breathes finally.
The female pirate takes a few minutes to rest before moving again, holding her hand tightly as the feeling of little pins and needles pulse through her skin from holding the button for so long. After some time of resting, Kat slowly picks herself up off the floor, then walks over to her tired friend and kneels down in front of her. "You okay?" she asks, placing a gentle hand on Alyssa's back.
The brunette slowly sits up so she's on her knees and lets out another deep breath before looking up at her redhead friend. "I'm okay… I'm just very thankful we survived," she replies with a smile, only it looks like she's struggling to do even that.
"You and me both," Kat agrees with a nod.
Still struggling to keep that smile, Alyssa slowly reaches up and slips the guard hat off her own head. She stares down at the logo on the front with the realization she wouldn't be able to wear this hat anymore. The whole week may have been hard as hell with killer robots and a perverted psychopath, but meeting Kat is the best thing that's happened to her. She's the reason she was able to push through all this madness. Kat's face falls to a sad frown seeing Alyssa's heartbroken expression. "Alyssa?" she peeps up.
"Kat, this is my last night here," she replies, ignoring the now shocked look on the girl's face. "I thought of quitting after this night, but after meeting you and everything we went through, talked, survived last night… Now, I'm not so sure if I want to leave…" A small tear escapes and slowly falls down her cheek and landing on the Fazbear logo.
Is she being serious? Kat can't believe what she's hearing. She didn't realize that, after the fifth night, if the guards ever survived, they would leave! Who would want to come back to work and try to survive another few nights of terror? But seeing Alyssa's so hurt, she might actually want to stay. Kat scoots closer to the young lady and pulls her close, giving her a tight hug. "Well, I'd love it if you'd stay... I really like having you around and maybe it'll be better on Monday's shift," she says, hoping it'll help calm her saddened friend down.
Alyssa lays her head on Kat's shoulder, giving her a small hug, or at least tries to. "I don't know if I'll be able to come back. Fazbear might only want me to work for five days…" she weeps, finally wrapping one arm around the other female.
Before Kat can reply, her hat slightly twitches because of her cat ears perking up at the sound of a car driving up. "Well, go ask," she says and pulls away, smiling at her confidently.
The guard stares at her confused until she hears the car door slam shut. Mr. Fazbear is back to let her out for the weekend. Guess she is right, there's only one way to find out. "Alright…" Alyssa picks herself up off the floor, then places her hat back over the top of her brown hair. After wiping off her eyes with her sleeve, she looks down at Kat and asks, "What'll you do? Hide in the shaft again?"
Kat giggles at her question. "You're funny," she says in a bubbly way before standing up and putting her arms to her side. "Well, better get your stuff."
Alyssa nods, then pulls her into another tight hug, fearing that this might be the last time she'll ever see her again. It unfortunately almost felt like dejavu to her. "Thank you, Kat… for everything." The brunette pulls away and gives her one last smile before rushing out of the room.
Smiling at her friend as she leaves, Kat slowly loses her smile and sighs sadly. 'She gets to go to her sister with some spare money now. I hope it'll be enough for her… But I still have to deal with Freddy's anger once she and the owner leave. That'll be pleasant...'she thinks to herself, still afraid of what Freddy might do to her and Foxy after all that happened last night. Walking out of the room, Kitten quickly scurries off back to Pirate's Cove before the owner could possibly see her.
After Mr. Fazbear locks his car, he tosses his keys up and catches them in his hand before slipping them back into his pocket. "Alright… Let's see if she's still here," he slightly chuckles to himself while walking up to the front doors. After unlocking and opening the door, the owner steps inside the building as he notices the night guard standing a few feet from him, all ready to leave. "Ah! Hello, Alyssa! It's so good to see you! How was your night?" he asks with a calm smile.
Alyssa walks up to him while doing her very not to show her exhaustion or nervousness, all while trying to keep a smile on her face. "Uh… Well, it was just the usual. Nothing bad happened at all. Heh heh... Yep, nothing bad…" she lies, hoping it'll fool the older man.
Fazbear nods. "Well, that's good at least." He pulls out a white envelope with her name on it from his back pocket before handing it to the young lady. "Here's your paycheck for the week. I'm so happy to see another employee who can work a week without quitting or complaining. Will you be staying with us for longer or will you be moving on to other things?"
While he talks, she opens the envelope to see a check for $120.50. Not very much to help her sister, but it'll… "Huh?" Alyssa looks up from her check after hearing the last part.
"I'm asking if you will be staying here or going to another job," he repeats, slightly confused at her reaction.
Alyssa bites her lip, hoping that he might want to keep her here longer. "Well... I thought of finding a new job. This place is fun, I love the kids, and night shifts are…" She grits her teeth, unable to finish that last thought. "I thought of going to other places since I didn't think you'd let me stay after the fifth night. Some night guards usually quit, or they get… um... 'laid' off."
"That may be true, but if you do decide to stay, I will happily raise your pay to $175 a week."
Her eyes widen at this. "$175?" she exclaims, not even surprising the boss in front of her. They always scream after hearing how much their pay would be. "Will Vincent be with me for a while...? Can I have some time with the kids, and maybe I can help with fixing up the animatronics? I am a mechanic, so…?"
The owner chuckles at all her sudden questions before saying, "Yes, we can switch you and Vincent out for night and day shifts if we may potentially need you during the day. However, we can talk more about that over the phone. Alright?"
Letting out a sigh of relief, she replies, "Very well... So, same time on Monday?" This time, when she smiles, it is out of real happiness.
"Monday sounds good." The man walks up to her, then places his hand on her shoulder. "Go ahead and get yourself home for some rest. I, myself, need to pick up a few things from the office before heading back home."
Alyssa nods her head in understanding. "Alright. Thank you for the check. This will help me for a while," she beams, folding the check in half before slipping it into her jeans pocket, then turning to face him with a big smile. "See you on Monday!"
Mr. Fazbear nods his head to her as he watches his new, faithful night guard leave the building and head to her car. He chuckles once more to himself, knowing that not every night guard he finds on the fifth day is this happy. Maybe something about this old place is starting to get better again. After watching the doors shut, he turns away from the glass double doors and heads off to his office. What he doesn't notice is that the animatronics have different expressions on their faces compared to their normal happy expressions.
