(Soda's POV)
As usual, the radio was blaring at full blast along with the TV. It surprised Darry and I at how Pony and Bex could sleep through the ear-splitting noise. After Pony had gone to bed, Bexley went in not long after. I hoped that both of them were sleeping peacefully and without nightmares. They seemed to be plaguing them every chance they got.
I thought about what happened with the Socs after Steve and I had gotten off work. How did I not feel want Bex was feeling? Was it because of how ecstatic I was about Bex having her first kiss with Johnny? I guess it was that.
I couldn't help but feel happy for her. This was another step of growing up besides having her time of the month. I know Ponyboy was growing up too just as fast. It was unbelievable just how fast they were going up.
Johnny had come into the living room a few minutes later. The whole time he was here, he had an uncomfortable glint in his dark eyes. He didn't utter a single word.
"I'm telling you guys! She had the biggest jugs I've ever laid my eyes on!" Two-Bit exclaimed ecstatically. Steve had enough of hearing about this to the point of almost throwing something at him. "I swear, she had gotten closer, I would've-" Two-Bit started.
"Touched them? Yeah, like that would ever happen. She'd slap you across the face before you even try it." Dally chortled, letting out smoke from between his lips from his lit cigarette. "Oh, but you have?" I laugh, crossing my arms across my chest. "Hell yeah, I have. A couple of times in New York. This broad was so good lookin', man." Dally smirked, rocking in back and forth in one of the dining chairs.
"Guys, not so loud, okay? Don't forget that Pony and Bex are just down the hall. Last thing we need is giving them ideas. Plus, I'll be surprised if they're able to sleep through all of this." Darry snapped, getting all of us to look up at him. "Superdope, what if those thoughts are already in that kids' head? Maybe Bex'll have that idea in her head too?" Steve joked, poking through our thoughts.
The look on Darry's face mirrored mine, shocked and completely flustered. After hearing about Bex's feelings for Johnny, that'd never happen. Darry grimaced at what Steve said. I push myself up to my feet, slowly I might add. "I'm gonna go check on them." I said, walking towards the bedroom.
"Make sure that both of them are sleeping peacefully. Can't risk any of them having a nightmare and we are unaware of it." Darry tells me. "Alright." I nod, looking back ahead of me. Darry had also reminded me not to go too fast because of my concussion. I did have a slight headache but that was about it.
I walked into the bedroom, hoping to find my kid twin siblings asleep in bed. But instead of seeing them tucked into bed asleep, I saw that the beds weren't touched. The window was wide open, letting the wind blow against the curtains. Panic rose up in my chest as I realized that both of them were gone.
"DARRY! DARRY, GET IN HERE!" I screamed in profound distress for my older brother. Darry heard my sudden cries and came bolting into our room, bursting through the door. However, I didn't need to tell him outright what was wrong, since the answer was staring at him in the face. I turned around, my eyes widened.
"Bex and Pony are gone." I say, my voice trembling. Johnny was standing behind Darry, swearing underneath his breath. There was a hint of fear in his dark eyes, giving us the suspicion that he knew something that we didn't.
