Chapter 24 - Let's Get You Back to Pirate's Cove

With his guitar and some polish in hand, Bonnie walks through the door that leads to the area backstage behind their main stage in the dining room. His red and white instrument had just received a fresh polish to keep it looking beautiful. It's actually very surprising how dirty the band's instruments get during the week with how messy some of the kid's birthday parties get. Placing the polish back on the shelf holding the tools and replacement parts for the instruments, the guitarist lets out a loud yawn. "Alright, guitar is cleaned and polished," he says aloud to himself. "Now, I can head to bed." As Bonnie places his guitar back on its stand, a thought crosses the front of his mind. "Maybe I should check on Kitten first." A smile forms on the male's face as a light pink blush dusts over his cheeks. "Yeah. Yeah, that's a good idea."

Stepping out from the backstage area, the bunny boy makes his way down the hallway towards the Pirate's Cove party room. However, before he can reach for the door, a soft noise catches his attention and causes Bonnie's left ear to twitch slightly. His gaze shifts from the party room door to further down the hall in the direction of the night shift security office. The four of them usually stay away from the office during the weekend while the guard is off duty, but Kitten has been a curious cat and does wander through there from time to time. Taking a deep breath, he decides to investigate the noise.

Making his way further down the hall, passing Pirate's Cove, Bonnie reaches the night office and leans over to peek into the small room he and his friends constantly try to get into nearly every night. Inside the room, the purple-haired male is surprised to find the pirate girl sitting in the wheeled desk chair inside of the room by herself. The side of her head is resting against her knees with her arms wrapped around her legs. Her eyes are shut, and her mouth is slightly open, breathing slowly from dozing off in the chair. "Kitten…? You okay?" Bonnie asks the feline with a gentle tone. Walking over to the girl and getting a closer look at her, he notices that her cheeks are wet. It looks like she likely cried herself to sleep here. This realization causes his rabbit ears to droop down beside his head, hoping he didn't do something that could have gotten her this upset. 'She's asleep… but she looks like she's been crying.' Weighing over his options on how he can help his friend, Bonnie looks down at the tiled floor for a moment as he thinks.

Once he finally decides on something, the male stands up straight again and turns his attention back to the sleeping pirate. "She's really not gonna like me for this I bet…" he mumbles under his breath. Taking a deep breath in before exhaling silently and slowly, Bonnie reaches down, carefully pulling both of her arms off of her legs. Feeling herself being adjusted, the feline moves a bit on her own to get a bit more comfortable, now leaning back in the chair with her arms crossed over each other in front of her. While moving, a couple of tears that were caught in the corners of her eyes come rolling down her stained cheeks, slipping and falling down onto the fabric of her vest and shirt. "Something must've really upset her... Hopefully Foxy can help." Reaching his arm down under her knees while the other moves to secure itself behind her back, Bonnie carefully lifts the sleeping Kat up and lets her rest against his chest with her head on his shoulder, taking extra care to not wake her. "Let's get you back to Pirate's Cove," the bunny boy says quietly to Kitten with a gentle smile curled on his lips.

At first, the shifting of her body starts to wake the cat from her slumber, but the feeling of his warm body and the gentle smell of his clothes is enough to lull the pirate back to sleep. Nuzzling up against his body, one of her hands moves off of her lap and up to gently grab at the fabric of his shirt, similar to how a child would grab at their blanket. The sudden feeling of her moving causes Bonnie to freeze up again. However, as he watches her grab onto him, the male can feel the feline start purring in his hold and a darker blush covers his face as he smiles again. "You're so weird... in a cute way," he says quietly under his breath. Feeling comfortable in his arms, a small sleepy smile shows on Kitten's face as she sleeps.

Turning back to face the office doorway, Bonnie walks out of the room slightly sideways to avoid hitting the girl's feet on the door frame. Making his way back down the hall towards Pirate's Cove, his hold on the redhead remains steady. Surprisingly, she's actually a lot lighter than he expected her to be. Stopping outside of the Pirate's Cove party room, the purple-haired male uses his foot to kick on the closed door just hard enough to get Foxy's attention, but also quiet enough to not wake Kitten.

Opening the door, the pirate captain looks out to see who was knocking, half expecting it to be Freddy coming to lecture him again about his first mate. "Ye-!" The fox is cut short by his surprise to see the guitarist standing outside of his door. "Bonnie?" His gaze is then drawn to the sleeping figure of the girl in his arms and starts to panic, fearing the worst. "I-Is she-?!"

Bonnie is quick to cut the pirate male off by shaking his head rapidly, catching the captain's attention, and whispering, "No! Nothing at all! She was in the night guard office asleep... I think she cried herself to sleep..."

The relief Foxy felt is brief as he listens to the rabbit explain what he thinks happened. Looking down at his first mate again, the redheaded male is quick to note the soft smile on her face, as well as the drying tear streaks. With a gentle sigh, his face softens as Foxy turns his attention back to the boy. "Thank ya, Bonnie. I'll take 'er from 'ere," the pirate says as he extends his arms out to take Kitten off of his hands.

With a nod, Bonnie carefully transfers the sleeping girl from his arms to Foxy's, being extra careful of his hooked hand. Kitten shifts in her captain's arms after the transfer, but eventually relaxes again against his warmth. Just like with Bonnie, the redhead grabs a hold of the edge of Foxy's coat, taking a deep breath and exhaling as her body relaxes again. "If she wakes up, tell her that I hope she's okay," the boy shyly says while taking a step back. Turning his back to the two pirates, he walks off quickly back down the hall towards the main dining room. Right now, a giddy smile stretches across his face as he walks, feeling happy to have held Kitten in his arms, even for just a short couple of minutes.

After the lad leaves, Foxy glances back down at his first mate and smiles a little. "Aye... Let's get ya ta bed," the captain tells his sleeping stage partner as he moves the two of them back into the party room. Using his foot, the male closes the door to Pirate's Cove before walking back over and up onto their stage at the other end of the room.

Passing through the purple curtains, the male approaches one of the two hammocks that were set up earlier for them to sleep in. Walking over to the left hammock, Foxy is gentle as he sets her down onto the covered material. He's even more cautious as he takes back his hand and hook from underneath her sleeping form. Mentally sighing in relief that she's still asleep after all that, the fox picks up the blanket resting near her feet, then lets it fall open before draping it over her body.

As the soft fabric lays on top of her body, Kitten is quick to adjust herself and snuggle into the blanket with a small smile on her sleeping face. "Bon... Mmm..." she mumbles in her slumber as a light pink blush dusts over her cheeks. Seeing and hearing his first mate muttering out the bun's name fills the captain with joy.

"Bonnie has a good lass," Foxy quietly chuckles. With Kitten all taken care of, he turns on his heel to face his own hammock. Stepping over to it, the male hops up and turns around to land on his back in the hold of the material. Taking a deep breath, the redhead moves his arms behind his head to use as a pillow as he looks up at the ceiling. Staring up at the glow-in-the-dark stars hanging around the stage and stuck to the top of the walls, he yawns. "Hopefully things 'ill get better from here…" Closing his eyes, it isn't long before the pirate drifts off into the sea of dreams.
