A/N: I expected this chapter to happen in at least 7! Though I do summarize parts of the scenes and it is a short movie. Something special happens in this chapter. Wonder what it could be. A spark?
Chapter 5
The two light talent fairies made it to the end of the bridge. They had to fit through vines in order to escape. The two took a moment to take in the scenery ahead of them. It was quite wonderful after all. Flynn had one thought and one destination. Say the wish before she does, find the mirror before she sees you. Sure it was a giant responsibility decision to make. Though it was either flying forever or losing his best friend. He didn't want either but obviously, he chose Meri. Every step he took his feelings for her grew stronger.
They were walking along the shore together. This would be a nice romantic place to confess but that was not on his mind now. Meri, on the other hand, couldn't help but picture both of them having a nice conversation and laughing. She folded her hands together and looked up at him sadly. To her, he seemed very serious.
Eventually, they found themselves approaching a huge hill. Flynn grinned quite deviously knowing it would take her longer. So he took advantage of it and quickly flew to the top. Meri groaned as it was harder to walk uphill. Just as she was barely making it halfway she stumbled down the huge sandy hill. She exclaimed in frustration. This made Flynn freeze and look back. He had to urge to go help her. He grew soft due to his heart. He glanced at the ship that never sank then back over to where she was.
Giving in the dashed over and quickly helped her up. He reached out to grab her cold hands. Meri gasped looking up to him helping her get up. She thanked him softly.
"Here." Flynn sprinkled some dust on her.
Her wings lifted as they landed on them. "You didn't have to." She slowly fluttered up.
"It's the least I could do. Now come on." Flynn sighed and flew quickly ahead.
He made it inside an opening of the ship. Flynn wanted to do his best to find wherever the mirror was and take it for himself. The inside was quite chilly and dark. Thanks to the pixie dust it made just enough light to see where to go. Meri soon came in not too long after. She called his name out as it echoed. Flynn of course heard it and made his way on ahead as quickly as he could. Dasing into another room he found himself alone finally. Without noticing he seemed to bump into a big stool. Looking up he noticed a saschial-like bag. He chuckled knowing what it was and went over to unie it.
Soon enough gold shavings fell out like a waterfall followed by jewels. The gold made a nice pile. Flynn then started to search around for the mirror. He did not have much time since Meri would find him soon. A sparkling-like object then caught his eye. He brushed the remaining jewels away and picked them up. It was quite stunning and gave off a spark. Before making the last wish he admired it for a while.
Though this is a time to be serious. Letting out a breath he started to say the words, "I wish…"
The mirror was then snatched from his very hands. He gasped as he turned to meet with who it was. It was none other than Meri. He felt intimidated as she looked down at him. He cleared his throat and instantly stood up. "I swear I-"
"Was not using the last wish for your own benefit?" She crossed her arms.
He clenched his fist, "We're in this mess because you broke the moonstone!" Flynn pointed at her.
Meri gasped, "I'm not the one who broke the scepter. All of this is your fault! You're the one who brought in that stupid campus. All of this was you!" She followed him around and pointed at his chest with her free hand.
"You're blaming me? At least I did not break the moonstone. Without it, there's no pixie dust which means no fairy will be able to fly again and it will be your fault!" He got up in her face before turning around and crossing his arms.
"You know what? I had enough of you. I wish you would just be quiet for one minute!" She let out quite loudly in frustration.
What caught their attention was a sudden flash. They both froze and turned to the mirror as she held it in her hand facing upward. Meri's mouth hung open slowly. She let out a few weak chuckles in shock. Slowly her knees sunk down to the red like a blanket that flew and laid down on the surface.
"N- no…" Meri stumbled on her word.
Flynn opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. His glow which the pixie dust gave off faded. What a way to waste the last wish. Now Flynn couldn't tell if he loved her or hated her. Though in a moment like this he knew the best decision was to comfort her. Gently he placed his hand on her shoulder. Meri sniffled, "This is all my fault, Flynn. Not you. I ruined everything. Now I can't fix the moonstone. I- I'm a failure to all of Pixie Hollow." She dropped the mirror covering her eyes.
Flynn softened and wrapped her arms around her. He couldn't speak so the most he could do is give her a nice hug. She sniffled, resting her chin on his shoulder clenching her fingers. He made nice circular mountains rubbing her back trying to help calm her down. They spent like this for a while before she slowly released.
As she backed away she sniffed and looked up at his blue eyes. They were so deep that she felt like she was sinking. Some tears streamed down her cheeks as she wiped them away.
"I am so sorry for doing this to you. If anything, the reason why we're here right now is because of me. I have been so rude to you lately and it's also the reason why I took a sudden interest in Terrence." Meri looked to her knees not being able to face him now. "I have been pushing everything away. It's because I am afraid of losing my best friend." She looked up at him.
He smiled in kind. It was a warm smile. The type when it's summer and the heat is just crisp enough so it's not hot. Flynn reached out to cup her cheek and brushed the wetness away with his thumb.
"Y- You see…."
Flynn placed his pointer finger on her lips, shushing her. He shook his head not wanting her to speak anymore. Slowly he dropped his hand and started to scoot closer to her. She watched him in surprise and even blinked. She soon saw his beautiful eyes close as he began to lean forward. Meri smiled, closing her eyes and reaching out to cup his cheek.
The moment she felt his warm dry lips press against her cold ones she began to slowly lay her lips upon his. It was more so of a refreshed feeling. One that they both needed to feel. All of that anger just drifted off and away into the sea. His lips felt quite warm but also dry like sand. Their lips swiftly danced upon each other slowly.
To the two, it seems like they just laid their lips upon one another a few seconds ago. After that time seemed to fade away. It caused them to get carried away and deepened the moment. She added a bit of pressure to the sweet kiss. Meri seemed to get a little too excited as she then placed both of her hands on his shoulders to push him down on the surface as she positioned herself on top of him. This did shock him as his eyes flew open. Gently he tried to push her away but she seemed to be in too deep as she kept kissing him.
"Okay, okay, that's enough." Flynn chuckled, backing away.
She gasped at the sound of his voice and instantly hugged him, "Oh, I missed the sound of your voice!" Meri cried out.
"Really? You didn't a minute ago." Flynn chuckled, patting her back.
"I know I am so sorry, Flynn." She sighed pulling away.
"It's alright." He chuckled, "We're okay now, dear. Can I call you that?" Flynn asked to make sure.
She let out a laugh, "Of course." Meri hummed.
Not too far away from them, they heard some squeaking meaning a mouse was nearby. Flynn gasped as they both turned around. The redness of the creature's eyes peered from the dark. He gasped and reached out for her hand. Meri made sure she had everything before she left. The two still had enough pixie dust so they were able to fly out of there to make the escape.
Since they were faster than the mice they bought some time to move a boulder that was blocking the exit. They flew back most of the way to the toll bridge. Flynn ended up out of dust once they got there. So Meri just stood by his side to give him company. This time they were able to pass the Troll's so it spared them some time. They crossed over the muggy river and hopped across the rocks. Soon they exited the forest. Meri flew up to snatch her bag of pixie dust and quickly went to hand him the bag. He smiled kindly thanking her watcher Meri fly back up. They were running out of time since it was nearing the end of the day.
Once he sprayed some of the dust on he flew back up and helped her bring up the anchor. Flynn then used the last every bit of the pixie dust to get the ballon going. It definitely speeds off. He Instantly went to take control of the steering.
"Flynn, what's going to happen when I go back? How am I so pose to fix this?" She took out the moonstone back revealing the broken pieces.
He tied a rope to keep the direction of the ballon in place and took out her broken scepter. "I don't know but maybe if we try to put things together we will come up with something."
Flynn noticed that she brought the mirror along with them. A diamond-shaped object caught his eye. For a while, he thought of something. Standing up he reached out his hands to bend the last remaining sunlight. The diamond glowed, turning it into a disco ball that was lit up.
Meri held out her hand as the light reflected off the diamond. She turned around and gasped, "You may be on to something, Flynn!"
Flynn grinned, "Right?"
The two then started to work together. Figuring out which pieces could easily fit back into one another just by tightening. Flynn was surprised she let him help her. She did say he was a distraction back home. Though since they have recently become a thing. She doesn't mind him all so much.
