A/N: Here is the very final chapter! I love these two so much I want to actually make a story that finishes their spam of lifetime since fairies live for decades. Though I will take a short break from writing since I only have a few weeks left of summer before i go back to class. These two fairies have such a unique bond more than any of my original characters. I hope to write more of them when I can!
The Final Chapter
"And that should do it." Meri made sure the last piece of the moonstone was on tight." She held up the scepter to admire it for a moment. Flynn took a few seconds to praise the work they just finished but couldn't help to get lost in her eyes as he turned to her. Her violet eyes were yet extraordinary to him and quite charming. He reached out to brush a strain of hair behind her ear.
Meri's cheeks lightly glowed. She cleared her throat and stood up compredinding how close they were. "Okay I don't like big entrances so how about we park this thing somewhere close by?" She asked looking back at him.
He nods and gets up to take the steering. "Oh. Also I am out of pixie dust." He chuckles, "Remember?"
Meri nods, "I know, I know. Don't worry you will be able to get some soon. We just need to make it now."
They found a nice place to park the Balloon. Meri threw down the anchor on the tree. The two would just have to come back for the supplies later. Flynn ended up sliding down the tree since that was his only safe way down. Or he would risk breaking a wing to which there is no cure as if now. She made sure he was okay and gently reached out for his hand.
"You go on ahead, I will meet you there as soon as I can." Flynn insisted on letting her go.
"But I was not able to do this without you. I want my boyfriend to walk up there with me." Meri says as she places hers on her chest. Her other hand held the wrapped scepter.
He eased at her words, "If you go at my pace you won't make it on time. Just go, Dear." Flynn walked over to place a gentle kiss on her smooth cheek, "I will be fine." The noise of the small gentle smack was heard as he made contact with her skin.
Meri lets out a soft sigh lowering her head. She said okay to him before taking off. After she took off Flynn looked over to the harvest moon. It is nearing its mark. He crossed his fingers hoping she would make it on time.
"Where is Meri?" Iridisa asked, looking over to Clank and Bobble. They were there since the two were doing a firework display. Iridisa is the main leader of the light fairies after all. So it's natural for her to be waiting.
"I am sure she will be here any minute." Bobble tried to calm her but it didn't work. It only resulted in her taking in breaths.
"Deep breaths now," Clank said as she started to over breath.
"This is such a disaster."
"Iridesa, where is Meri Plumewood?" The Minister of Autumn fluttered over to her.
"I don't know." She said and let out a heavy breath.
"You don't…" Queen Clarion called out his name, making him gasp in shock.
The two of them turned and froze facing her. She asked if anything was the matter. Iredisa responded in yes. After the queen asked where Meri was since it was nearly time.
"Well, Meri should be…"
That very moment the fairies in the audience caught her fluttering up to the aulter. Iredisa let out a huge sigh of relief once they saw her making her way up. Meri did her best for everyone not to suspect anything. She was a little nervous about revealing the broken moonstone. If anything she felt quite alone doing this without Flynn. It is a huge honor but it felt different without him. Soon she made her way and stepped up the stairwell. Once she got up to the top she kneeled down on one knee to show respect to the queen.
"At the beginning of the season you were entrusted with a great responsibility. Where is the fall scepter?" She asked.
"Well, you see. There were some complications." Meri took a quick glance to the crowd hoping to see if Flynn had made it yet.
She and Iredessa gasped. Iredessa covered her mouth instantly but was put at ease as she said it was ready. Queen Clarion placed a hand behind her back. "This way, Dear."
Meri went over to the place in the end of the scepter nice and tight. It was in the shape of a mushroom carved out a whole in the middle. She turned around to face the audience yet again. If she squinted her eyes she could barely make out Flynn as he was out of breath. He was near the end of the millions of fairies. How would he ever make it by? He would have to just stick down and be an audience member.
"I present to you, The Fall Scepter." Slowly she released the blanket revealing the broken prices. The crowd gasped as a few shrieked in shock. Iredisa instantly fainted to the floor. Queen Clarion then helped her up.
Flynn heard all of the whispers he could make out in the crowd. He growled and started to squeeze through fairies along with pushing them aside trying to make his way through. This caused attention to himself only to the others that were around him.
Soon the blue-ray hit the diamond causing it to hit the pieces of the moonstone almost instantly. Flynn gasped as he was able to look at the glow from so far away. Once the beam hit the center it started to glow even brighter than diamonds. Soon it was too bright for any normal fairy to look at it. All of the light fairies? Of course they could. They are not blinded by the light. As the brightness faded blue pixie dust started to fall. It was so much blue pixie dust. More than any other Autumn.
Flynn's wings slowly started to flutter up. All of the other fairies enjoyed the moment along with gathering up enough dust one could hold. The Sparrow Man dashed over to the altar as fast as he could, passing Fairy Gary and his acquaintance Bolt.
"Meri!"
She heard her name being called. The light fairy searched around through the blue dust and looked out in the crowd. Instantly a hug attacked her as she felt warm arms wrapped around her. She stumbled back some but was able to catch herself.
"Woah, there." She giggled patting his back.
He let go, "I made it." Flynn chuckled.
Meri nods, "I know."
"Ahh, Flynn I did not expect you to come up here." The Queen says.
The two then face her. Meri nods as he takes a bow. Meri wasn't sure if she should announce they are dating now. It is not the place to be doing that. At least she thought that. She did not know if he felt the same. "You see, I helped her with the scepter. Well… till I broke that is." Flynn chuckled.
"Then we put it back together." Meri smiled.
The Queen then nods, "Fairies of Pixie Hollow. We've celebrated this revelry for centuries without any interruption. Tonight I believe is our finest revelry ever. Thanks to one special light fairy, Meri Plumewood."
Meri curtsies as a female way to bow. Meri quickly reaches out to take hold of Flynn's arm pointing at him.
"And her friend, Flynn." She smiles in kind.
He then corrects her, "Boyfriend actually."
This caused Meri's face to freeze as her cheeks glowed. She then shot a glance at him and muttered a hey. The Queen corrects herself now in front of everyone. This causes second hand embarrassment to Meri. Flynn wanted to announce to all of Pixie Hollow that Meri was his and his only. He knew Terrence was somewhere out there. In reality Terrence was happy to hear the sudden news. Glessandra was happy for them as well but felt a sudden surge of jealousy.
"Alright everyone. To the Pixie Dust Tree!" The Minister of Autumn announces after handing her the Fall scepter.
Meri then took the lead heading down the altar. Butterflies flew up in the air followed by bubbles. Meri couldn't help but to take a lookup for a measly second, "Woah." She said in awe.
Not too long later Clank released the fireworks along with Bobble. The dazzling fireworks are reflected on the girl's eyes, a brief moment that will remain as beautiful as the journey the two best friends had. Friends that then became sweethearts.
Shortly the Autumn Revelry was complete. After every fairy in Pixie Hollow went to the tree they all returned home. Except for two special fairies. Flynn wanted to show her an astonishing view. He took her hand, hiding her to a creek that flowed down to a waterfall. He takes her to sit down on a rock. She follows and sits down swiftly. Flynn looked over to know what he could call his girlfriend. He gave off such an admiring look. He just adored the shine in her light violet eyes.
"Flynn, I never thought pushing my feelings for you away would cause us to hate each other. I am so sorry for that." Meri sighs.
Flynn hummus, "I know. You know, also I was very certain you didn't like me. I don't know if you noticed but I used to hang out with Glessandra to see if you would get jealous at all." He explains.
Meri laughs, "I did not analyse that at the time but I knew I felt something scratching me in jealousy."
He chuckles softly, "Meri. I just want you to know my true feelings." Flynn turned to her, fully taking her hands, "You are one of my best friends out of everyone I know. You mean so much to me. I feel so comfortable around you that silence is relaxing. I love how you care for fireflies so much you stay up till midnight taking care of them even though it exhausts you. You're such a unique fairy I can't imagine my life without you." Flynn began to ramble on about how much he cared for her, "Meri, I am in love with you." The sparrow man poured his heart out.
She lowered her head in shyness as her cheeks flushed. Meri looked back up to his ocean blue eyes that seemed to be filled like the night sky as it reflected off. "Flynn, I cherish you with all my heart," She picks up his hand to place it on her chest. He could feel it beating ever so swiftly. His eyes seemed to sparkle but it was only wetness from being so overwhelmingly overjoyed.
"I love you too, Flynn." She smiles letting out a soft chuckle.
Meri took the move to slowly close the space between them. Flynn then followed her movements as their lips soon touched. The kiss started off more so slowly but then began to move. Her lips were quite soft to him, almost silkin. She could feel his warm breath beneath her nose. Meri let her hands gently wrap around his neck, collapsing her fingers together as he held her by her waist.
After a long time you learn about someone, you hope you both could last forever. Fairies live to 600 years. If one day they both lose feelings during their lifetime maybe they will learn to love each other as friends. They would have a stronger bond than any other fairy has had before.
