Lorraine had a certain fondness for flying in airplanes. She found it fascinating to look upon the world below as if viewing it from the perspective of an angel in flight.
Ed, however, didn't quite see it that way. Where she was comforted, her husband was nervous. He preferred to be on the ground where he had more control, rather than putting his life in that of a mechanical aircraft and a pilot he didn't know. To pass the time he would either read or pray. In the moments between, Lorraine would hold his hand.
Needless to say, Ed got a lot of reading and praying in on their flight to Japan. Father Gordon had informed them of a potential haunting, one that if proven could be a potentially difficult- and dangerous- case.
"The Saeki family," Father Gordon had said as he slid a photo across the table to the Warrens. "Takeo, Kayako, their son Toshio, and the boy's cat, Mar. Taeko murdered his family in their house, and anyone who enters the property has either passed away shortly after or gone missing,"
The couple inspected the photo. This looked like a happy family, but sometimes looks could be deceiving. "Anything about a motive behind the murders?" Ed asked.
"Evidence at the house indicated Mrs. Saeki had been seeing another man," Father Gordon said. "Though some say that the house's haunted history goes further back, suggesting that Mr. Saeki had not been himself when he murdered his family,"
Lorraine felt a surge of emotion for the family. None of them should have had to suffer like that. She especially felt pain for the young boy, who had no part in the wife's supposed infidelity.
"Nobody has entered the premises in months," Father Gordon continued. "We will have a Catholic priest meet with you upon your arrival in Tokyo. From there you will investigate the potential haunting. If there is any truth to it, the priest will bless the premises and put the souls to rest,"
In the end, the Warrens agreed to the case.
