Annabeth
Annabeth rolled up her sleeves when she reached the front gates of the duchess's manor.
She pretended today was going to be normal. Or as normal as it could ever be.
Earlier that week, Annabeth's mistress announced to all the staff that her cousin, King Poseidon, and his son, Perseus, were coming to visit. For what reason, nobody knew. All the same, the duchess made sure that everyone knew to do their best, don't make any mistakes, or you will be fired. While she was saying this, her eyes wandered to the youngest person in the room, which was, of course, Annabeth. Great.
The blonde told herself to stop fretting about it.
She greeted the poor soul that had the job of opening and closing the front gates as usual and hurried up to the large house, past the gardens, to start today's work.

"Tea for five," the duchess called. "I will be in the drawing-room."
She smoothed the collar of her maroon dress and stood still as one of her minions did her hair into a braided bun.
Annabeth, who was nearest, nodded and went down several flights of stairs to the pantry. She took a plate of biscuits from the counter and set five porcelain teacups on a tray, along with the biscuits and some milk. The tea itself was quite easy to make. You only needed teabags, hot water, and patience. Unfortunately, when you work as a maid at a duchess' home, you don't have much time...which was why Annabeth only let it steep for three minutes. She hurriedly carried the tray upstairs to the living room and found the duchess, along with her daughters, Drew and Lacy, talking to the King and the prince.
Annabeth had seen the King many timesーin history books that she borrowed, paintings in the duchess's manor, statues at the town square, but never in person. As for the youngest prince in the royal family, Perseus...that was another story.
Being the youngest of three brothers, the prince wasn't very well known to commoners. Except for the girls back at the orphanage. They were practically obsessed with him, and Annabeth didn't know why. Sure, he wasn't too shabby looking, and definitely not ugly. But still not worth the hype.
The blonde came into the room could practically feel everyone's gaze as they watched her set the tray down on the table.
The duchess continued the conversation while Annabeth was pouring tea.
"I was wondering if Drew would be more suitable...she tutors the children after school, after all."
Annabeth caught Drew glancing at the prince and trying to get his attention by winking. Perseus, on the other hand, was making the milk in his own tea swirl into different designs and didn't look at anybody.
"What do you think, Perseus?" the king asked.
"Um. Well...I guess Lacy's okay," he muttered.
"Youー WHAT?!"
Drew's yell got everybody's attention towards her.
"Are you telling ME," she tapped her chest. "that LACY is going to get Perce?"
The boy in question frowned. "Perce?"
"Why yes, it's a nickname."
"That sounds like a chicken's name or something."
Annabeth tried to walk away as slow as possible. The conversation was getting interesting.
Lacy giggled, and unfortunately for her, it didn't go unnoticed.
"Do you actually think this is funny?" Drew grabbed the collar of her sister's dress.
"Children, pleaseー" the king begged.
"-and why is SHE still here?" she jabbed a finger at Annabeth, who was standing by the door to the safe haven called 'dining room'.
Apparently, Drew had never heard of the saying: 'If you point a finger at someone, you point three at yourself.'
"I...does anyone want more tea?"
Everybody stared at Annabeth as if she announced that the sky was green.
"NO, you idiotic wuss, NOBODY wants tea!"
"Sure, can I have some?" Lacy requested.
"You are literally OUT OF YOUR MIND, SISTER,"
"Drew?" the duchess' voice was strained. "if you can't calm down would you mind going to your room."
Annabeth decided that that was her cue to leave.
A/N: I don't know when I'm gonna update, but I will try to do it once or twice a week? All good? All good!
