Dawn of the Mandakarla Ch. 2

I am so sorry for the late update. T has been a hectic couple of weeks at work and I just transitioned to a new job where I can have time to continue my studies and rest to take care of my home life. I do want to stay committed to this story if I am able to. I love reading about the Mandalorian section of the Star Wars universe and hope it can continue expanding. Please enjoy this chapter and know that I am working on the next chapters.

Two days passed as they head to Arcan IV, after which they will shift their course to Galidraan which will take only an hour or less to reach. During that time Jhisto helped her master sharpen up on his Mando'a so that he can enter the negotiation when necessary. The other Shadows contacted them and confirmed they have made it to Felucia and are awaiting their arrival to the next hyperspace lane to take them to Galidraan. Arla continues giving encoded reports of her status in trying to contact the rebels. Because of her being Mandalorian, they are wary of meeting with her, fearing that she is Death Watch until she earns their trust.

Things however got complicated once they were a day into hyperspace travel. On the Jedi message board, a warrant for the arrest of Haat Mando'ade appeared.

"Master, look here. The Senate has just issued a warrant for the arrest for Fett and his Mandalorian mercenaries for war crimes," Jhisto read off the screen.

"What war crimes? I have seen that Fett has kept their group clean since he became their Chieftain," wondered Repra. Motioning Jhisto out of her seat, Repra entered in his credentials into the database for more information. "Hmm, it seems a task force has been sent out to Galidraan right after our transmission with Arla."

"That soon!" exclaimed a worried Jhisto. "Then that must mean that the Governor contacted the Senate so that the jedi will arrive right when Fett is done defeating the rebels."

"Wait, that's not all the charges."

"What else is he accusing them off?"

"It says here that not only is Fett 'murdering' political activists, but he has also murdered an entire village of civilians. Women and children are not spared," Repra recited from the file. He typed a couple more commands to find the transmission file from Galidraan while Jhisto contacts Arla. After a minute Arla answered, appearing before them with another figure in the holo-transmission.

"Arla we have a problem and who is that with you?"

"This is the village leader of the nearby village where most of the rebel leaders came from. What's wrong Jhisto?"

"We have just received a bolo for Fett and the Haat Mando'ade. They are being accused of wiping out political activists and their villages full of women and children," explained Jhisto to a now alarmed Arla.

"Huut'uuns! It doesn't surprise me. We are going to have to play this right. No room for mistakes. I'm gonna need help slicing their sensors. We can't evacuate the village if they can still track their heat signatures," explained Arla. Pondering for moment, an idea came to Jhisto.

"Why don't you slice into the network to record what the sensors capture. Let the villagers go about their business and when we get there, another shadow is going to help you slice further into their network to place the recording." Arla thought it through, giving her input.

"This means we only have one opportunity granted that none of those aruteiise make an unscheduled visit," Arla concluded, turning to the village chief.

"We will make the necessary preparations. And I will contact the rebels and let them know of this development. Thank you for your help Jedi masters. May force be you."

"May the force be with you," Repra returned before cutting out the transmission. Repra placed his hand on his chin before inputting a code into the communications consul.

"Master, who are you contacting?"

"I am trying to reach the lead investigator for the mission to Galidraan. He is an old teacher of mine during combat classes," explained Repra. "His name is Dooku. I'm sure if I can reach him then we can work together to get the true perpetrators, hopefully lessen some of the bloodshed that is coming. In the meantime, meditate and train. This may be your last preparation for the jedi trials."

Jhisto stood still as the computers hummed around her. She quickly replayed her master's words in her head. 'Did he just say that I will be ready for the trials?' Jhisto contemplated if she was ready at twenty-four years of age, even though she knew of jedi masters promoted at younger ages. The question is, will the Council allow it? She has been reprimanded severely her actions in the Kaleesh and Huk negotiations. And she has been threatened by several members of the Senate that if she interferes with another investigation again, they threatened her with claims of connections to the jedi high council members to remark on her behavior, enough to put her future career as a jedi.

"I sense your trepidation my padawan. Please tell me what weighing on your mind to cause you feel wary at my counsel for you to be ready to take the trials?" Master Repra spoke up, sensing his padawan's unease.

"Master, I am not saying that the council is influenced by the Senate, but they are beholden to quell down what causes a ruckus. And even revealing the true cause of the issue seems to be in direct contradiction of the Senate are aiming for in the first place. I am well aware of the corruption in the Senate but also… Master, I also find at times that the Council…" Jhisto stopped, in fear of further jeopardizing her future in the Jedi Order. Be it that she and her master are close comrades, they are still Master and padawan. Repra,, being a master Shadow, would have to report her thoughts to the Council. Some Jedi that have spoken out had been quieted down pretty quickly. Some are even not allowed to continue to the Jedi trials before being transferred to the agricultural core or some other work that can actively isolate them more from the rest of the galaxy.

"The Council is no longer our council of old? That how conflicts chosen only benefit our standing with the Senate?" answered Repra to his now astonished padawan. Repra noticed the pattern in his youth and was sure to teach his student that foresight of one's intentions and motivation. "Jhisto, you have acted with honor as a Jedi. Your ability to discern the true situation and patiently work to achieve a true sense of peace, not one that is forced with unjust settlements. This is why I said you are to be ready to take your trials. How you handle this dispute and help coordinate the taskforce's efforts. Speaking of which, what is your goal?"

Reeling back this revelation from her Master, Jhisto thought back to when her father died and House Kryze solidified their position as the ruling members of Mandalorian space. House Kryze since they took the political seat of power, they have inserted the Mandalorian sector into the Republic and have maintained a manner of pacificism to satisfy the Republic. Though leaving behind their warrior ways has in fact opened a door for other systems to take advantage of the New Mandalorians with minor increases of raids and growing corruption within their ranks as food and trade gets scarce with the increase in prices. It seemed that the surrounding systems and commerce guilds have it in their heads to take advantage of the less threatening system. If the schism continues their culture would eventually yet surely die out, only left to the few hunters and scavengers.

"I am hoping to become the Haate Mando'ade advisor to rebuild relations between the warrior clans and the new Mandalorians. I believe if thought carefully, they are seeking the same goals, peace and stable prosperity for their people. If it the case that the Mandalorian space is part of the Republic, then out of respect of the last thousand years, the Republic will need to stop having them make concessions of their culture out of fear from the past, as that fear has lead to thousands of innocent lives lost just to do with their military. The main priority is bringing the Mandalorians on the same page, especially the factions that prioritize their people over the gain of war. It will be a long time to for it to work but it will worth that time," Jhisto stated confidently. Repra regarded her for moment before asking the next topic.

"In that case, the Senate and the Jedi Council will no doubt oppose you. May even try to stop you," he pointed out, imagining some of the scenarios that are going to play out once she starts associating with the Mandalorians.

"The Jedi High Council made a decision to lead the Republic into crippling the Mandalorian sector out of fear instead of properly investigating the situation. Mandalore has always been a warrior culture. But to the credit of Tarre Viszla, who was part of our order, helped reel in the clans and moved their potential to be humble and steadfast warriors. Increase in military after several generations is normal for them because normally everyone is taught to be a warrior, that would mean at least 75% of the population is battle abled. They did not need to become pacifistic to survive. The True and the New Mandalorians can reconcile. They just need the Republic Senate to stay out of their affairs. If this means going against the Councils wishes, then so be it. I am training to be a servant of the people, not for the few."

Repra taking in his padawan's growth, felt peace settle within him.

"Then without a doubt, I will petition the Council to have you take the Trials. You have grown wise and humble over these years. When we meet up with the others in Galidraan space, I want you to take point with my assistance. You know how to speak Mando'a and their ways. I will handle the taskforce that that Council sent." Jhisto, even though she felt nervous at the prospect of leadership, swallowed her nerves, and bowed to her master in thanks before settling at a computer to begin the planning. If she was going to prevent a confrontation as best as possible then she needed to know where the rebels are holed up so that a representative can accompany her to negotiate with Jango Fett.

For now until they reach Galidraan, all they can do is wait.

Jango POV

The hum of the hyperspace engine vibrated in the background as Jango cleaned his blaster parts. Putting them together slowly and meticulously. It has been a long twelve years, but he has finally tracked a solid lead to the Death Watch. At last, he will have revenge for his family. And finally, bring closure to his buir's family. All these years, he held off contact because he could not come close to Jaster's murderer. He had no way to give them closure. Now he can. His quarter's communicator sounded off. Seeing that it was the Navigation, he answered.

"Mand'alor. We are approaching the Galidraan system. Coming out of hyperspace in five minutes."

"Good," Jango replied, holstering his blaster and grabbing his helmet in one go. "I am heading to bridge, alert everyone to be on alert. Hail the Governor to alert him our arrival."

"Yes, Mand'alor," answered the pilot before closing the comms. Jango opened the door of his room, looking back one last time at his family holos next to his bed. 'It will over soon, then we can have peace on Mandalore space once again.
