Serenity's POV.
My sister Bella and I were riding in backseat of our mom's car with the windows rolled down on our way to the airport with our mom Renee and her new husband Phil, Bella suggested that we move to forks to live with our dad Charlie for the school semester so mom could travel with Phil instead of staying home with us.
We stopped at the airport, fetched our bags from the trunk of the car, and then went to the reception desk to check in for our flight and waited in the waiting area for our flight to Port Angeles to be called.
"Are you girls sure you want to do this because you don't have to?" said Mom, she was sitting in the seat across from us with Phil.
"Yes Mom, we want to go." lied Bella who was sitting in the seat next to me, she has always been the bad liar between the both of us.
"If you girls want to come home call me and I'll be on the first flight back home as soon as you both need me." she insisted.
"Don't worry about us, We'll be just fine Mom." I said.
5 Minutes Later.
"Flight BA298 To Port Angeles Is Now Boarding, Head To Gate A-12 Please, Thank You!" said the lady in the intercom.
"Well that's us." I said when we got up from our seats with our carry-on luggage to Gate A-12.
"Okay, my beautiful babies come here, take care of yourselves." Mom said as she hugged Bella and me.
"We will, we love you mom so much." We both told her as we pulled away from our hug.
She hugged and kissed our cheeks for the last time and said, "I love you both, too."
"Take care of our mom and yourself Phil." as we both told him as we hugged him.
"I will." He promised us.
We went to the door and gave the lady at the counter our boarding pass, then we turned to Mom and Phil, waving at them and then we got on the plane taking a seat after placing our carry-on luggage in the storage compartment above us. I took out the phone and put on the headphones listening to music, while Bella did the same.
After A 5 Hour Flight To Port Angeles.
When we landed in Port Angeles, it was raining a bit, I took my hand luggage from the storage compartment while Bella did the same, we left the plane looking for dad as soon as we found him, we took our other suitcases and went to dad "Hi dad how are you?" I said smiling, giving him a hug. "Hi baby, I'm fine and how are you?" Dad said smiling as he hugged me and kissed my forehead as we walked away from our hug. "I'm great." I said as he nodded and turned to Bella.
"It's good to see you, Bells," he said smiling, giving her one of his awkward one-armed hug.
"It's good to see you, too, Cha-Dad." she awkwardly replied.
"You girls haven't changed much. How's Renee?" dad asked.
"Mom's fine." Bella said.
"Let's go home." Dad said as Bella and I followed him to his police cruiser taking out his keys we put our things in the trunk and went inside. Dad sat in the driver's seat, started the car, and got out of the parking lot and onto the road.
I was looking out the window in the back seat to see nothing but endless deep dark green forests, how everything hangs in the ever present mist of the cloudy gray sky, everything was wet, green and drenched in shade, everything was gloomy but beautiful as we were now emerging into forks.
"Your hair's longer." Dad asked Bella who were sitting in the passenger seat.
"Seri cut it since last time I saw you." she replied.
"Guess it grew out again." Dad said as she just nods.
My sister and my father always have the most awkwardest relationship in the whole world, while my father and I have a very close relationship every summer that I visit dad while Bella stays with mom or sometimes he will come visit us in California. We passed a sign saying "The City of Forks Welcomes You - Population. 3246" Well, now it's 3248
Dad pulled the cruiser into the driveway of a small old two-story house and parked the car. We got out and dad helped us with our bags into the house. We saw a flat screen T.V, photos of dad fishing with Billy Black, Handmade cards to daddy, photos of Bella and me, Bella winces as she saw her 7 years old self in a tutu sitting stubbornly on the ground next to an 8 year old me and photos of our much younger parents on vacation beaming with love. I carried my suitcases upstairs to my room, placing the suitcases on my bed, started unpacking and put them in my closet.
I heard Dad talking to Bella from my room as they came upstairs. "I put Grandpa's old desk in your room, Bells, and I cleaned some shelves in the bathroom."
"That's right. One Bathroom." I heard Bella, told dad while going in her bedroom with her suitcases to unpack her things.
When I finished unpacking, I heard a horn from outside, I ran to look out the window and saw a faded red truck from around 1960 stopping in the driveway when Dad went to greet Billy and Jacob Black, who is a Quileute Native American the two helped Billy to sit in a wheelchair. I walk out of my room down the stairs with Bella and we go out to greet them.
"Hi Uncle Billy, how are you?" I said as we approached them and hugged Uncle Billy.
"Hi Serenity, I'm fine and how are you?" Uncle Billy said as I pulled away from our hug.
"I'm wonderful, Uncle Billy." I said smiling at him and then turned to Jacob.
"Jakey, how's my best friend?" I said to Jacob as I hugged him.
"I'm great, I'm glad to see you again, Reni." He said as he hugged me back.
"Glad to see you again too, Jake." I said as we pulled away from our hug and turned to our fathers and Bella.
"Bella, you remember Billy Black." Dad said to Bella.
"Yeah, You're looking good." Bella said as she shook Uncle Billy's hand.
"I'm still dancing, Glad you girls finally here. Charlie hasn't shut up about it since you and Serenity told him you guys were coming." Uncle Billy said as he looked at Dad, who was looking away embarrassed.
"Alright, Keep exaggerating, I'll roll you into the mud." Dad jokes.
"Right after I ram you in the ankle." Uncle Billy jokes when the two start to play-fight on the road.
"Hi, I'm Jacob. We used to make mud pies together when we were little," Jacob said sheepishly as he approached my sister. He had a crush on Bella when we were little and even now.
"You and Jacob loved throwing the mud pies at me," I said grimacing.
"Yeah ... I think I remember." Bella said "Are they always like this?" while referring to the dads who were still play-fighting on the road.
"It is getting worse with old age." Jacob said when the dads had stopped play-fighting and came back to us.
"So, what do you think of your homecoming present?" Dad asked Bella as he patted the hood of the truck.
"No way! Is this truck for me?" Bella asked, surprised.
"Just bought off, Billy, here." Dad replied.
"I rebuilt the engine for you." Jacob said.
"It is perfect!" Bella said excitedly as she opened the truck door hitting Jacob with it as she turned to the truck "Sorry." She quickly apologized before they got into the truck.
"Seren, your mom said she sent your car here and it will arrive today or tomorrow." Dad said
"Okay Dad." I said as I went by the driver's window of Bella's truck.
"I told you she would love it, I'm down with the kids." Uncle Billy bragged.
"Oh yeah! Dude, you're the bomb." Dad said sarcastically.
"Okay, so you gotta double pump the clutch when you shift, but otherwise you should be good" Jacob explained to Bella.
"That's this one." Bella told him as she pointed to the clutch.
"Yeah." Jacob said.
"Do you wanna ride to school with me?" Bella asked.
"Oh! I go to school on the reservation." Jacob told her.
"That's too bad, it would've been nice to know at least one person there." Bella said, frowning.
"What I am to you, chopped liver?" I told her as they laughed.
"You are my older sister, so you don't count." Bella says casually.
"Yeah, so true." I said shrugged.
Once Billy and Jacob left, I got in Bella's truck, then she started the truck and we went to do a quick test drive around the city to get to know the surroundings better. Finally we went home and talked about how we are going to start school in the middle of the term and what it will be like, we cook dinner for our father and for ourselves. After dinner we wash the dishes and go up to our rooms, prepare for school tomorrow and go to sleep.
