BECK
Beck had just told Tori he loved her, and though he should probably being waiting for some sort of response, he really didn't care if she responded. With all that had happened to Beck in the last few weeks, he only thought it was important that she knew.
Tori sat up and looked at Beck in wonder. So he decided to tell her exactly what he was thinking. "Tor, in the last few weeks, I've had at least one near death experience and maybe two. There isn't all the time in the world, even if that's what we like to believe. We never know how much time we have. I know we haven't been doing this thing for long, and I know I can't exactly recall what it felt like before the accident, but I have the memories, and it's so frustrating to think that it might have felt like this." He stroked her face. "For one thing, how I could forget something this amazing, and for another, how I ever lived with myself feeling this way about you and not telling you. I meant it... I love you, Tori."
Tori sat and listened intently. He could tell she was searching his eyes for something. He hoped all that was there was what he felt.
"Beck, you're right. But you were also right when you said that when I said it you'd know I meant it. I don't want to get hurt..." She let her head fall back to his chest and made little doodles on it with her fingertip.
"I know. And I meant that. I don't expect you to say it back. I only needed you to know." A few moments of comfortable silence passed before Beck broke it. "And I will never, ever hurt you intentionally."
BLING!
Beck didn't want to move to check his phone. But Tori shifted off of him and started looking for her clothes.
"Who texted?" Tori took Beck's line.
"Andre." Beck replied as he looked down at his pear phone.
As Beck read the text his stomach dropped to his feet, and he started to feel sick. Before it fully sunk in, he told Tori, "Jade's in the hospital. She tried to kill herself..." Beck was in shock and didn't know what to even think. He subconciously got dressed quickly and was getting ready to head out to his car, key in hand, before he remembered he wasn't alone. He turned around to check for Tori and she was right behind him. Beck looked at Tori, but couldn't focus so he couldn't really see her.
"Let me drive," she said. He snapped back and suddenly saw the concern in Tori's eyes. She was right. Beck briefly remembered what happened the last time he got into a vehicle while he was upset.
They drove the hospital in silence. No radio, no conversation, silence. Beck could hear his heartbeat in his head, and it was so loud he still couldn't think.
Before he knew it, they had arrived. Beck sat in the car after Tori switched it off. He just sat there. He didn't know what he would walk in to. Would she be awake? Would she be hurt? Would she be a different person? How would this change things?
"...Beck?" He snapped out of it when he heard Tori's whisper. He looked up at her and she looked downright scared. Her eyes were wide, her lips were slightly parted, and it was dark in the car, but Beck thought he could see tears in her eyes.
He reached for her face. "I'm here." He was comforting her when really he was the one who needed comforting.
"Are you okay?" She asked. Suddenly, in the middle of everything, Beck realized that Tori was terrified for a completely different reason than himself. He straightened up, and grabbed the door handle. You have to be strong for her. For them both.
"Come on, babe. Let's go see about Jade."
Tori bucked up too, and got out of the car. Tori kept Beck's car keys and he thought it was probably best.
When the arrived inside, they had to wait to see her. Robbie was consoling Cat across the room. "What happened?" Beck asked him.
"She took too much medication, she had a seizure, and she wasn't responding." Robbie's eyes dropped to Cat's lap where she was holding his hand with both of hers.
"How did this happen, guys?" Cat asked.
"It's my fault," Beck said without even thinking first. He was sure of it. After breaking her heart, and rubbing it in, after what he'd said to her... he just knew it. He didn't even hear all of his friends disagree.
Andre came out of the hallway back into the waiting room. "Beck!" He suddenly got excited. "Glad you're here. She needs to you..." Andre glanced at Tori, and Beck looked back at her face in question.
She dropped her face to the floor and sat down. Beck knew she wouldn't protest, and under any other circumstances, he wouldn't leave her this way, but this time he felt like he had no choice. He walked toward the hallway and glanced back one more time before Tori was out of sight. She was talking to Andre, who had his arm casualy thrown around her. For the first time in a while, Beck felt out of place. He felt like he was missing something, and it was breaking his heart.
TORI
As Tori sat next to Andre in the waiting room, she was scared. What happened? Why would Jade do this? I am partially to blame. I took Beck away from her. Even while thinking that, Tori couldn't help but wonder what was going on in the room with them. She loved Beck. She couldn't help it, and she knew Jade felt the same way.
It doesn't matter how hard we try, or where this goes from here... things will never be the same. Things will never be easy for Beck and I. And they will always be impossible for Jade.
Tori didn't know what to do. She thought that it would be hard to be without him, but she also thought that maybe it would be easier for both of them without her around. There was only one week left to graduation, then where would she go. She realized that they had not even talked about college plans, or where to go after college.
Tori wanted to helped Jade, but she knew she was the last person Jade would want to see. In fact, what would help Jade is if Tori disappeared.
