Last time…
Izuku seemingly failed the U.A exams and was offered chance of a scholarship at Shiketsu. Only instead of a becoming a hero like he wanted he would become a detective. Then in found he was accepted to U.A and now must make a choice.
What I can do
Izuku found himself in alone on a swing set. He was at a nearby park he used to play in when he was little. Times were so simpler back then. He didn't know he was quirkless and had kind of a group of friends. Although the more he thought about it those friends were never that friendly. Heck that one kid he tried to help one time completely turned against him when he got older. Joined Kacchan to from his little posy. Yeah back then there was only 5 of them now four or three since he got bullied out of the group. There was this one kid who had amazing dragon wings quirk, but he moved away with his uncle years ago. How is he doing? Izuku could not help but wonder as he gazed up at the sky. The clouds passed by making all types of shapes. One looked like a pair of dragon wings. How coincidental. No doubt he's trying to be a hero too. Everyone his age does. But him…
His eyes then drooped. He fished out his phone from his pocket and scanned through his contacts. Top of his list now was Arata sensei. He needed to make a choice. His sensei was waiting for an answer, but he still hasn't found that answer. On one hand he could go to U.A. Pursue the dream he always had and become a hero. Finally, after all this time he was recognised. Even better it was his idol that originally rejected him. There was a downside to this and that was the glaring fact that he was still quirkless. Form what he could see from the U.A exams there are many students with outstanding quirks. How could he hope to keep up with them? Even if he was recognised reality has not changed. Still, that doesn't mean he shouldn't try at least. Right?
On the other hand, he could accept Arata's proposal and work on obtaining that scholarship to Shikestu's detective course. A down grade to what he wanted, but he couldn't deny it was easier. A quirkless kid could properly fit in to a midcore police force. There was also the fact that he seemed to have a bit of a talent for it. Or so he has been told. Might as well use it. There was one big reason why Shiketsu is so appealing to him now and that was Arata. He was the first person to give him a chance and believed in him. Although his teaching methods are extreme, he cannot deny the progress he made with him. His words still echo in his heart louder than anything All Might ever said:
"You can become a hero your own way."
The question is what that could mean? Will anyone even accept as a hero that is not really a hero? Or will he be looked down on again? It wasn't the easies of decisions. On one hand he could continue to peruse his true dream now that he got that chance. However, there will be a high possibility of being a burden with his quirklessness. Or he could finally give up for good and face reality. Pursue something doable. Something he could possibly excel in. What to do. What to do.
His mind was a mess. He tried to relax by people watching. It was a habit he had for as long as he could remember. He just liked watching people. Mainly heroes. This time there were no heroes in sight. Just children playing around and their parents nearby either playing with them or sitting on the side-lines. Notably, there were mainly mothers. It was like that for him when he was younger too. It was always him and his mother. Always. He watched the mothers chatted amongst themselves as the children laughed and cried. How peaceful.
Then something caught the corner of his eye. There was movement in the thick foliage. Glimpses of a tall man with a dark green baseball cap could been through the gaps. He was looking around anxiously as he tugged something on his side. Something didn't feel right about it. Following his instincts, the teen sneaked in for a closer look. He kept his body low and dug himself deep in the foliage. Luckily, with his natural green hair he was able to blend in oddly well. He got closer he saw the man dragging along a toddler by the arm.
There was not anything odd about the man at first glance. He was your average looking young adult with blue jeans and baggy grey hoodie. Although the cap covering his orange hair with a cat printed on the front was an interesting styles choice. The child on the other hand as something else. Their eyes were a daze and lacked consciousness. They moved like a bot on orders. It was unnatural. The boy's natural instincts screamed louder. Something was off.
He continued to track the pair as they made it out to the main road. Far from the sight of any other civilians. There was a car waiting for them at the sidewalk. It looked cheap most likely a rental with scuffed white paint job. The man unlocked the back-passenger's doors and turned to the child: "Come on. Hop in."
The child glace at the opened door and blinked. Life suddenly returned to their wide innocent eyes. "Wait, that's not mama car. Mama's is red."
The second they said that the man crouched down and blew at his palms. A cloud of blue dust sank down to the child's level. When he breathed it in their eyes become blank once more. "Your mama's car is white. Now get inside," the forcefulness of that line was hidden by the man's smile and high pitch tone. No doubting something was wrong as the child mindlessly nodded.
Some sort of mind control/suggestion quirk Izuku calculated. This man is not that child's father. He could turn and fine the real parent or call the police but that would take too long. The child would be long gone if he delayed any further. He couldn't allow this to happen. He hesitated once before but this time there was more on the line than passing an exam. Without a second thought, he jumped out of hiding. "Ho-ld it right there!" he stuttered.
The man looked at him with annoyance. "What do you what, brat?"
He flinched for a second but still stood firm. He glared at the man with a frown. "I'm almost certain that's not your kid. So, if you don't mind return that child to his mother, please."
Coyly, the man undoubtedly a villain shrugged his shoulders. "Got any poof brat?"
"I saw you use your quirk on that kid. He didn't come with you willingly!" Izuku accused while making a step forward. He had to be careful to not get hit by this villain's quirk. His mind raced as he weighed his options. He was currently unarmed and there isn't anything nearby he could possibility use as a weapon. There is a chance this villain might have a weapon. The deep pockets on his hoodie would be a perfect hiding spot. There was no one around to call for help. He'll have to do this solo. From the look of this villain he doesn't seem that strong. The teen might be able to best him in hand to hand. Although his main objective should be getting the child out of this villain's reach. Luckily, they have yet to enter the car. He has a chance.
The villain chuckled and clapped his hand together. His mouth formed and O as he opened out his palms.
Izuku's eyes widen as his brain screamed recognising the danger. The villain was going to use his quirk. Thinking on the spot, he held his breath and ducked down limboing under the cloud. His eyes never left his opponent as he prepared a fist. Then, before the villain could comprehend what was going on, the young boy punched him square in the face. The villain screamed and stumbled back while holding one hand on his face. He hissed and swore at the teen while digging into his pockets and grabbing a small pocketknife. Izuku's mind continued to race as the adrenaline zoomed through his veins. He glanced to the child nearby.
Their eyes slowly came to life once again. "Mama?"
In a spit second decision, Izuku twisted his body and kicked the knife out of the villain's hands. It swirled through the air before disappearing into the foliage. With that threat out of the way he pounced towards the child and grabbed him tightly into his chest. His next move was the make as much distance as possible. So, he did. He dashed a good few meter away before turning back to the villain. They wore a face of rage as they saw their victim taken away. They looked ready to make another attack but Izuku had one last self-defence trick. He could now do now that the child was safe. Taking a deep breath, he yelled at the top of his lungs: "SOMEONE HELP! THERE'S A VILLAIN!"
"Huh? Villain?
"What was that scream?"
"Let's get out of here!"
"Someone, call a hero."
"WHERE'S MY SON!"
"Mama?" the child in his arms squeaked.
Weakly, Izuku smirked with quivering lips. Good they heard him. "OVER HERE!" he yelled even louder.
"MAMA!" the child screamed with him.
Seeing his plans foiled, the villain clenched his teeth. "You win this round brat!" he spat before diving into his car.
Acting as fast as possible, Izuku took out his phone hand took a picture of the car before it zoomed away. It was slightly blurred but it should be good enough. He wasn't going to let this man get away. Not after almost successfully kidnapping a child. There was also a chance he would do it again or has done so before. He swore to himself he wasn't going to let him escape so easily. There was just one problem: he's a quirkless kid and the bad guy was zooming away on a car. He had somewhat of a plan. The likely hood of it working was slim but not impossible. It was worth a shot.
Soon the worried parents came out from the foliage. The child in his arms wailed and ran towards his mother. She apologised over and over while he cried in her arms. The other parents were relived but wondered where this villain went. Their attention was soon stolen by the child furiously typing on his phone. His fingers were on god speed as they zapped across the screen.
Then a look of satisfaction came to his face as he turned to the group of adults. "Do any of you have a bike I could borrow!"
There was a message spamming across the web. Some weirdo was spamming the same message repeatedly. Their target individuals were connected: hero's personal accounts, hero associations and police force. It spread like wildfire as others shared it like crazy. At first, they laughed thinking it was prank. A boy crying wolf kind of situation. Then things go more serious as a hand full of individuals proclaimed the truth. They gave as much evidence as possible since they claimed to be the victims. It was passed around through all types of social media. Many were then left to wonder many it was real.

ANYONE!
There's a guy in a white car driving around that just tried to kidnap a child. The child's fine but the culprit got away. I manged to take a picture of his car before he escaped. So, if anyone sees a white car with this license plate please inform any nearby heroes or officers. I'm worried this man would try and something like this again. I am currently on the lookout myself so please help.
[insert picture of a back of car with a very clear license plate]
Oh, and the man was wearing a grey hoodie and a green cap with a cat on it. Loud orange hair and gold eyes. Please keep a look out. For any heroes reading this try to catch him before he realises, he's being follow and could do any damage or gets away.
The message went virtual. All the while, Izuku found himself peddling over the sidewalk zooming pass people and apologising for it. The urge to fine the would-be kidnapper was too great. Honestly, he knew it was stupid, but he just had to do something. He couldn't let the guy go scot-free. He will do everything in his power to make sure he doesn't. The logical side of his brain kept telling him it was pointless. A quirkless brat should say out of this. Besides, he already done enough but no. His body kept on moving despite it all.
Just fine the car. Just find the car. He chanted repeatedly in his head. He lost track of it awhile back and currently has no idea where it could be. He looked on his phone for updates. Somehow in the span of 10 minutes the hashtag 'catch the napper' went viral. All due to the fact he inserted himself in the middle of this. So many useless information on people asking if they were caught yet or calling him a faker. He'd never been tag this much in his life. He only uses social media for hero news and the occasional flame war arguments on heroes. Who knew those fast typing habit he grew form that would have gotten in handy? Then he spotted a ray of hope. An image with the man he was after still in his car at a red light. Even better from the what he could see in the background he knew exactly where it was. That hero mech shop in the corner was a dead giveaway. If it isn't obvious, he goes by that road often.

THANK YOU!
That's our guy. Please inform any heroes in the area about this. As for other heroes if you can make it to the High district you may be able to catch him. The pic is a few minutes old, but the area is known for traffic. Must be trying to blend in. He might still be there.
He then plunged this phone in his pocket and peddled like his life depended on it. If he was being complete honest with himself, he should have stopped there. Eventually the heroes will catch on and win the day. But there was this voice yelling at him to see this through to the end. He could do more. Quirk or not. He will help in any way he can. This time he will not hesitate till someone screamed for help.
Stuck in traffic the villain on the run taped on his steering wheel. He was more than annoyed. He was furious. Some bright eye kid played hero and took his newest victim form him. Oh well there's always next time. Still after this mess he needed to stay low. They may have cops looking for him as it is. No worries. He just needs to act like any old civilian and get out of town. Luckily, he had a few others at home waiting. Children surprising make a good amount of money. A snarky grin tipped his lips as the light finally turned green.
Smack!
"Yo!"
The villain jumped as his car vibrated. His eyes slid to his side widow. There on towering over the other side of the glass as a local hero he knew of. Death Arms. The hero was giant and intimidating. That fake smile he wore on his face didn't help much either. He felt the hero's eyes searched him up and down. The villain said nothing as he tightened his sweaty palms on the wheel.
Soon, Death Arms tapped on the widows with his bowling-ball size hands: "Mind coming with me for a bit. I got some questions for you, pal."
Nervously, the villain laughed and turned down his widows, "Sure thing." Then he brough his palm up to his lips and blew. The cloud of blue dusk was inhaled into the hero's system. His eyes lost life as he stood there like a statue. "Why don't you back off a bit and look pretty. You're causing traffic." Without any further instructions the hero took a few steps back. Then the villain step on the gas. The honking and causing behind him grew louder. He's been found. Acting like a normal civilian was out of the question. He needed to get out now. Although he couldn't help but wonder how he was found so quickly. That question was soon answered as he spotted a familiar green figure in his review mirror. "The brat from the park."
Izuku was zoom pass pedestrians on the sidewalk. At a distance he saw his target zooming further away from his sight. He peddled faster till he saw Death Arms in his way. The familiar blankness in his eyes made him remember after all the adrenaline rush, he forgot to mention one important detail. The villain's quirk. "I'M SO SORRY!" he screamed.
The teen's loud voice was enough for Death Arm's eyes to come alive again. He swivelled his head around recalling what transpired. The realisation hit him that that thing on the web was true and he was so close to apprehend the villain. He cursed at himself before his attention was stolen by the small teen next to him. He instantly recognised his green hair from an incident a good while back: "The kid from the sludge villain incident."
"YES!" Izuku confirmed as he once again typed at the speed of light. "I'm so sorry. I should have posted a warming on the villain's quirk too. I go so distracted in trying to find and capture him it slipped my mind. He seemed to have a weak mind control quirk. Its activities by blowing this blue dusk form his hands. If you doge it, I think you will be fine or have something covering your mouth. It's just a guess but I think you will need to inhale it for it to work. Also, now that he knows heroes are on his tail no doubt, he'll be more willing to break traffic rules and cause some real problems."
As if he could predict the future news broke out about a reckless driver rushing through the streets of their city. Death Arm's thick jaw hung as the teen scanned through the live footage of someone following the mad driver. Seems like the news media has taken an interest of the unbelievable chaos. In what little time had pass there had been several traffic accidents and reports on people acting strange as blue dust coated some areas.
"It's worst then I thought. He's using his quirk to create more mayhem to distract the heroes. At this rate we'll lose track of him." His mind once again raced with possible. What can he do? There has to be something more he could do. Then it came to him. Watching the birds eye view of the villain creating mayhem and heroes cutting in the help civilians; he released where the villain was going. All be it a little round about. Really in was clear as day where the villain was trying to go. "I see now he's trying to escape outside the city. By piling up more problems for heroes to deal with he could slip out of the city scot free. Judging on where he is now, he's trying to get to the west exit. Good thing there was a hero agency nearby that could help. Their speed will be perfect for this high-speed chase if it comes down to it. There only a few road paths he could take so if we can warn civilians if we act fast enough." A few new posts sent all Izuku could do now was hope they will listen to him. He looked up at the larger hero next to him. He was completely lost. Trying to keep up with Izuku's high speed muttering was too much for him. "Will you be ok sorting out the accidents up ahead. Seems like Kamui Woods, Blast and Backdraft are already on the scene."
"I guess," he responded not sure what else to say.
"Great! Thank you for your service." Then green haired teen then biked away hoping his predictions were correct.
That left Death Arms alone blankly staring at the teens back growing smaller at the distance, "Who the hell was that kid?"
Mayhem in his wake the villain continually drove to freedom. To throw off the heroes more not only did he caused several traffic accidents, caused civilians to fight and public destruction he also managed to steal and hop between cars. It was easily done with his quirk. Break open a widow, blow his quirk and get that diver out. Like taking candy form a baby. Throughout the chaos he's done this good few time. It was a thrill. His adrenaline was on an all-time high. Better yet he cockily believed he was going to get away with it all. All the hero was too busy trying to fix the mess he made. There were no other cars or pedestrians in sign to stop him. Although that did seem a little strange, but who cares? It was a straight shot to freedom, and he was going to go for it.
Chuckling in victory the villain he shifted the gears to max speed. His crazed eyes aimed straight to the gates of freedom. Just a little more. Just a little more. Then he is eyes flinched as he spotted once again a familiar green figure at the distance. Their eyes met instantly. "SHIT!"
Izuku stood in the villain's way to freedom and he wasn't alone. Beside him was a hero known for his speed and armour gear. The Turbo Hero: Ingenium. Thankfully, he answered or more, so his sidekicks answered the DM sent to his agency. Equally known for their speed and efficiency the sidekicks managed to clear the area and guided civilians out or away. The only person that should be able to get through would be the villain himself. It was incredible how well coordinated they were to pull it off. Once again Izuku couldn't help but be amazed by heroes, but now was not the time to fanboy. The second he meant the villain's eyes he confirmed it: "That's the villain I'm sure."
Adored in his armoured hero suit, Ingenium gave the boy a quick nod. "Thanks for the tip civilian. Leave the rest to the heroes!" Enough said the speed hero raced into action.
Panicked, the villain steered a hard-right turn but that wasn't enough.
Ingenium was hot on his tail and gaining speed. Izuku followed suit peddling as much as his legs could. He was completely out class by the hero and moving vehicle, however. That does not mean he'll give up now. he was determined to see this through to the end.
The villain growled as he stared out his review mirror, that speed hero was on him. At this rate he'll be captured for sure. Like hell he was going down that easy. He didn't care who he would hurt or what damages we would cause. He would drive straight through a building if he had to or run down an old hag. He was not going down. Not ever. He gripped his hand on the gear ready to go full throttle but to was stuck. "What?" he then noticed something weird. A blue glow was encasing his vehicle from the inside. It crept up like a haunting mist until it every inch glowed with its blue glow. Then things started to move without his control. The beaks hit hard as the steering wheel was forced to make a shaped right turn. The horn honked itself alerting others of his presents. His car had a mind of its own. "THE FUCKING HELL!"
All the while, the hero Ingenium was quickly catching up to him. Soon he made it to the side of the vehicle. The villain he looked like he was screaming at his own wheel. Oddly enough, he was not holding it but that did not matter. "Stop in the name of the law." As if on que the car stopped. Strange. The confusion only grew as the doors suddenly clicked themselves open. Ingenium had to have several double takes when the villain seemingly surrender himself by extending both his hands out. Ready to be cuffed. They were clearly destressed with the way they were crying curses. Even so: "You are hereby under arrest!" Ingenium proudly announced as he hands cuffed the villain bringing a swift end to the high-speed chance mayhem.
The crowd uproar in cheers. They gathered around the young hero singing his praise. News reporters that were following the case soon swamped in, taking pictures and asking questions for their hero. Eventually the police rolled in to calm down the masses and take the villain in custody. It wasn't easy with all the people crowned round. It was even more rowdy than usual l thanks to that social media post. Several members of the crowd were following the exciting event live.
At the far back of the crowd was a very tired Izuku. He slumped over the handlebars and he started out at the excitable coward. He could taste the blood at the back of his throat while he panted wildly. His adrenaline rush finally faded. His legs left like they were going to fall off. Screaming in agony, his muscles could barely keep him steady. The only thing louder was the heartbeat in his ears. It made his mind reel. The lack of oxygen in his lugs causes his vision to blur. Even so he could just about spot the police dragging the panicked villain away. They did it. The villain was…
All strength was lost on the boy as he fell sideways.
Luckily, a blue aura caught him before he was met with hard concrete. Arata soon waltz on to the scene with his usual smile. He used his quirk to gently take the boy off the bike and laid him safely in his arms bride style. He was sure to cradle the boy's head, allowing him to rest peacefully in his arms. "You did well, my boy." Then they looked on to the crowd prising the supportive hero of the day. No doubt this would be the highlight of news for the next day. He couldn't feel prouder. "Although few will know of your exploits. Those who do will undoubtably be grateful." He looked down at the young boy in his arms again. A vague image of someone so dear to him drape over him. There was sadness in his smile as he tightened his grip more. "You quirkless truly are amazing."
The next day, news sites and channels were buzzing from the mad caches of yesterday. Some were praising the work of the heroes that help lessen the destruction of the chaos. Other were interviews of civilians that witnessed everything first-hand or were a part of them mob that followed the event through social media. Course there were those that reported on the aftermath. As far as they know an anonymous tip spiralled out of control online. This led to a mad chase for a child kidnapper the police have been trying to find for months. The chase was then ended in the hero's victory as Ingenium arrested the villain. Although the arrest was a peculiar one. The villain kept yelling causes about a green haired child as well as a claiming his car was possessed. It moved on its on! And Stop! All on its own! They were written off as cries of a madman that got caught.
Soon after the villains arrest, the police force managed to tack down his hideout and his victims. The young children where safely escorted back to their parents. A perfect happy ending. Still, there was one mystery they have yet to solve. The identity of the mysterious tipper that caused these event's in motion. All they had to go on was the username: GreenFANBOI which but this time no longer existed. At some point before the events concluded the account was delated. They disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Hopefully, whoever they were they were proud of their noble act.
"OUCH!" Izuku yelled in aching pain. Ever since his adrenaline died down his body felt the pain. It was near dead and unmoving. The only reason he knew he was alive was because of the stinking sensation he got when someone touched his wailing muscles.
That someone just so happened to be Arata who had been helping his mother nurse him back to recovery. Or at least that's what he claimed he was going to do. Right then he was just poking him with a smug smile on his lips. "See this is what I meant by over working your body. This is what happened," He semi scolded with a smile. "Granted you were running on adrenaline that entire time."
Once yesterday's events concluded, Izuku collapsed form exhaustion. He does not know how long he was knocked out. He just knew by the time he woke up it was early morning the next day and his body could no longer move. Not like he didn't try. It was just too painful to try. Safe to say he was bedridden for the rest of the day. Maybe part of the next to. Who would have though biking round the city trying to chase a car would cause so much pain? Well at least he knew now.
"Even so," Arata gave the boy a warm smile while patting his curls. His blue eyes shined with such pride as they gazed into the child's green ones. "You did a splendid job out there. Acted like a real hero."
Blushing, Izuku snapped his head away. His body winced at the sudden movement, but he was fine. He had some form of movement back. He stared up at his cream coloured walls. They were plastered with posters of the same man. The same blinding smile that used to inspired him so much. They gave him such joy. Such fire. All Might was his idol. Emphasis on the 'was'. He wanted to be recognised by him so badly. His rejection cut like a knife at the time. They formed scars that he never though would heal. And yet, they did. He could barely remember that talk on the roof top know. Beside the insist no and something about joining the police force. The rest was a blur. The pain didn't feel that deep. In fact, he didn't feel anything at all. He didn't know when or how but looking at the smiling number one hero now he felt nothing. No fire. No joy. No shame. Just like watching his U.A accepted letter he felt nothing for the hero. There was still one thing that remained. He couldn't deny that he was amazing. All heroes were. Compared to him he was nothing. "A real hero huh? I don't think so sir. I don't think I'll ever be," his tone sounded less sad than it should have. It was like he was ready to accept it now.
Arata shot a glare at the countless of eyes around them. A growl escaped his gritted teeth as his voice got notable deeper, "don't compare yourself to a fool like him. It's a waste of time."
"it's kind of hard not to." The teen admitted as he glanced around at his wide collection of merch. "He's the perfect example of a real hero."
"I would argue against that wholeheartedly," Arata spat as he followed the boy's eyes. "What defines a real hero anyway? The size of your muscles? The power of your quirk? How marketable you are? No." he stated firmly. He looked back at the boy with a newfound fire in his eyes. They burned with both annoyance and certainty. "There is one defining trait that all heroes share. The will to do whatever they can to save a life. And you have proven that time a time again. Don't you see? You already are a hero."
A burning sensation welled up in the boy's eyes. he began to hiccup while try to hold back his whimpers. "Thank you…sensei." He managed to whimper out. "It means a lot for someone to believe in me."
"Oh, I know I'm not the only one." Then a glowing blue disk floated between the two of them. Izuku recognised it as the holographic acceptance latter he received earlier this week. "Seems like the idiot finally wised up. Your path can go back on course." The blue aura dispersed as the disk fell into the boy's lap. The child stared at it as if it was an alien item. Then casually turned to meet with his sensei's saddened gaze. "You've got accept to U.A it seems. A wondrous achievement. You got what you wanted. I suppose once the school year begins you and I won't be meeting each other again."
Mistakenly, Izuku shot his back up to yell at his teacher but a scream of pain escaped his mouth instead.
"Careful there, Izuku. your muscles are still healing."
Knock! Knock! Creak~
A familiar face popped through the boy's doorway. "Is everything ok in here?"
"Mr, Tsukauchi." Izuku gasped out surprised. The detective waved at the boy in greeting while another head popped through his door. The new face made his jaw drop. "You're the hero Ingenium."
He too held up a head in greeting. "Hi there, and please just call me Tensei when I'm out of armour." As the hero said he was out of amour and in civilian clothes. He was a fairly handsome young man with the Iida's family signature dark blue hair. "You must be GreenFanBoi."
Izuku become a bright red as soon as her heard that name and hid himself in his own hands. He delated the account on his own accord. He hated the attention he gotten because of it. Several news media outlets personal sent DMs to him hoping to persuade him into an interview. There were also others that shot him a message but there were so many of them and he was too shy to read most of them. In a panic he deleted his account and hope the buzz about the whole thing would eventually die down.
The detective chuckled at the boy's bashfulness. "Don't worry about the media hounding you. We made extra precautions to help you stay anonymous."
The boy let out a thankful sigh. Then he stared up confused at the two newcomers. "I don't want to sound rude, but what are you two doing here?
The detective responded with a tip of his hat. "I just came to thank you personally. You help us solve several of these missing children cases we've got for months with the capture of the culprit yesterday." The boy was quick to protest the detective saying that he did not do anything extraordinary which the detective denied. "If I correctly understand you orchestrated that chase and capture. You have a good eye. Keeping track of the villain where abouts and predicting where he was going to go next. We do things like this on the force but usually it is per planned and is more on the down low. Oh, and I hope you don't take too much offense to this, but could you also not do something like this again. Quite a few copycats have emerged and most of them were pranksters."
Izuku bow his head apologetically which was when Tensei cut it waving a piece of paper in his hands. "Don't worry too much about it. All well that ends well." He then handed out the piece of paper to the boy. "As for me I wanted to come by and thank you myself. Couldn't have found the villain without you. Also, I came to deliver this. One of my employees begged me to give this to you if I could since I wanted to come by. She wanted to come herself, but she's occupied at the moment. Form what she told me you saved her son from getting kidnapped."
Curiously, the boy took the paper and found it multiply in two. One was a well written latter of sorts and the other was a childishly done drawing. Although the think that caught his eye most of the drawing. It was down completely in green crayons and squiggled cross the page were three stick figures. One of the stick figures was lying horizontally with Xs for eyes. Another much smaller and looked like they were jumping up in the air cheering. The last stick figure stood in the centre proudly with an arm in the air. The works thank you was messily scrolled on top as well as the words Mr green Hero.
Hero. That word again. A hero. Something he always dreamed of becoming and now he had the chance. He looked down at his holographic acceptance letter still in his lap. Then he glace at his side table. Placed in arms reach was the broken blade form his U.A exams. He never had the heart to threw it away despite the fact it was practically useless. It just meant too much for him now. The memory attached to it both bitter and sweet. All his hard work. Both his success and failures. His eyes then shot towards his sensei smiling next at his bed side. He wanders what he was thinking although he could guess. That sadness form earlier still had not felt his eyes. Finally, he glanced up at the detective and hero with a question. "Do you think a quirkless person can become a hero?"
The questions caught them both off guards. The turned to each other hoping they would have and answer.
Izuku beat them to it. "The answer," he started off while picking up the holographic disk. He carelessly placed it on his side table and picked the broken blade. Without any remorse her crashed the blade down shattering the disk in two. His audience of 3 watched in shock as the boy lifted his broken blade off the device reminds. Is sparked one last dying breath. Izuku lifted his blade closer to himself. He saw his reflection in it is remaining fragment still attached. There was a fire in his eyes he never saw on himself before. He thought of everything that brought him to this moment and smirked. He's made a decision now. He nodded to himself before taking back to his audience. "Maybe." His smile grew wider as an emotion he had not had in a long time started to well up. Pure pride. "I don't need to be a pro. I just need to do what I can to save others. I'll become a hero my own way."
Arata stared at his student as he repeated the lectures, he told him before. It shocked him. This child he'd taken under his wing for nearly a full year. My how time flies and how they grown.
"I don't know if become a detective is the right choice for me. Or if I can still be a hero from it. But it's better than wasting my time being out shined by a bunch of young quirk heroes. I know I can never be like them." He glanced around at the merch around him. "Like him." Then his squeezed the broken blade's handled tighter. "So Arata sensei, if you would still be willing to take me. I want to go to Shiketsu and try and become a detective."
Arata smiled in delight, "If that is what you want. Let's get to work."
The hellish training becomes renewed. It is not physical training although he still does that. This time it was mental training. Arata drilled into him all he needed to know and beyond. Basic laws and comment police practices. Izuku devoured it all. Even more than his training for U.A he was hyper focus on learning whatever he could. All for the sake of surviving the Shiketsu exams. He wanted to learn more. He needed to learn more. Expand his knowledge further and become an A class detective. Someone that can catch and find the bad guys and assistant the heroes in any way he could. He still wasn't 100% sure if this was the right path. Or even a good path. But if he could help people that all that matters.
The scholarship programme wasn't considered easy to obtain considering his school background isn't as high class as their usual students. However, with his high grades he stood a better chance. Now he had more evidence his skills with his recent escapade. All he needs are three credible individuals that would be willing to support him. Form what he knew detective Tsukauchi was keen on sponsoring him ever since the murder case. So that's one. Then there was surprisingly Ingenium. Apparently after hearing about it form Arata he was willing to lead his support. From what he heard from both the detective, teacher and what he sees himself the boy was more than capable. So that makes two. There was still a need of a third but Arata told him that he already found one. Secretively, the identity of the third was still unknown to the boy. That was until much later.
Eventually the time came. The entry exams were a walk in the park. He felt that U.A's was at little harder. Although the addition of a game was more than a little bit unconventional. He was timed to play out mystery game the school created. He did complete it in a respectable time fame. A least that what he guessed from the wide eyes of the examiner. Needless to say, he passed and with three people backing him up he had only one thing left to do. The interview.
"So, you're this Izuku Midoriya, Arata can't stop raving about," the headmistress, Miss Chiyo Daisuke, chimed as she ruffled through the papers in her hands. She was a thin woman with thin sharp features. Her brunette hair tightly combed back in a bun. Even so her face was kind. There was a soft smile on her faint pink lips and a genuine gleam of glee in her eyes. They were a bright blue. Deep like the ocean. Such a familiar colour. And shape.
Although Izuku was a little too distracted from being embarrassed with praise. He shucked in his chair not trying not to meet her eyes. "Really?" he squeaked.
"Oh yes," she sang with a grin. "And now I can see why. Your grades are stellar, your supporters backing are no strangers to me, and you had a hand in solving a murder and assisted in capturing a criminal. All be it in a very convoluted way, but results are results. Although I would advise a more professional approach for the future." That line made the boy red more. He did kind of made a mess of things by acted a little to impulsive and hands on. But like she said results are results. "All without a quirk. Rare but not usual around here. We get a hand full of children like you for our police force course and others. Granted those numbers have decreased over the years but still no need to be nervous. I'm sure you'll fit in fine."
"Thank you, Miss, but…isn't this supposed to be an interview?"
The lady laughed almost smug. Like he just said the funniest joke in the world. "Child, I'd be a fool to reject someone like you. Your resume here is near perfection. Your record is clean as a whistle. There's no doubt in my mind you'll fit in here." She noticed a cloud of disappointed over the boy's eyes as he hanged his head. An amused smile shut her mouth. Placing her elbows on her desk, she laced her hands together and rested her chin on them. "Don't be so glum kid. Be proud. I'm usually a very picky and strict when it comes to hand out scholarships. We have a reputation to up hold I can't just accept anyone. To impress me is an honour on its own," she stated pridefully. A sudden sharpness entered her eyes as the scanned the boy up and down. Analysed his every feature. A curious hum passed through her lips. "To get his attention is a rarity. I get teachers sending froth students form time to time, but Arata does not usually pick up students like this. Scratched that he hasn't done anything like this period. He's actually quite distance when lessons aren't running."
Curiosity sprung, Izuku's spine up. Arata's sudden attachment to him didn't escape him. He always wondered. Always questioned. Yet Arata's answer always remain the same. He was simply interested in him. That was all. He could sense some truth in his teacher's words, but he couldn't help but feel there was something more. Something he was not telling him.
The headmistress continued, "An odd one that one is. Has a hero's licence but hardly uses it. With a quirk like his he should have broken into the top 10 years ago, yet he still sticks around here. Keeping away from the spotlight and having his teaching duties top priority. Not like I'm complaining. The guy generates high results both in academics and heroics. Although I feel sorry for the poor kids stuck with him for hero training. You probably know he's not at all gentle. It's almost like he's training them to fight a demon lord."
"Demon lord?" Izuku spoke up with interest.
She mindlessly nodded her head in though. "I don't know what he's so worried about. With a hero like All Might around I don't think a demon lord would be an issue." She waved the thought of with a laugh. Not that anyone could blame her. All Might was like a god among men. If he has to, he would fight a demon lord and win. They had nothing to worry about.
"Thoughts like that will be the downfall of society." Both Izuku and the headmistress screamed. Even almost fell form their seats. Standing there with smiling eyes was the man himself. "Also, it's rude talking about someone behind their back."
Neither of them knew when he entered the room. They could have sworn the door never opened once. The windows were shut tight too. So how did he get in and when? The headmistress placed a handover her rapidly beating heart. "Stop doing that," she hissed. It was safe to assume Arata has done something like this on multiple occasions. Honestly, Izuku can believe that too. He just appears out from thin air as if he had always been there, but no one noticed him.
He gave her a huff before stepping over to Izuku's side. "I can see you're both done here. No point in dragging this interview with mindless chatter."
"oh, come now, Arata. I was just curious," she whined almost childishly. Her eyes told a different story. They were trying to break through and find something. Anything more about the man. One subtle change maybe all she needed. "Mr, I don't do people, takes a random quirkless boy under his wing. I can't help but find that strange. Don't you, Midoriya?"
Izuku tried to speak but Arata cut in before he could. "It's really nothing. The boy caught my interest. That is all."
"Oh really?" she challenged.
"Really."
As the two of them had a stare down Izuku recognised the familiarity form before easily. It was all in the eyes. "Are you two related?"
Both looked at him in surprised and chuckled. "In away," Arata responded. "Although I have stronger connections with her grandfather than I do her."
"They still won't tell me how but that's correct." She shielded her mouth on one side and leaned over her desk to reach the boy in front of her. "My current theory is he was some bastard offspring of a relative and my grandfather took pity on him. Gave him a job here despite the lack of info on his background. Not that I'm complaining. If he does his job I could careless," she whispered with a wink. Then he leaned toward the man with a fake and playful scowl. "That is unless you're a wanted villain from Britain. I'll have issues on that."
"I assure you I am not a villain," he sighed while shaking his head. "Now you do your job," he said slyly while sliding a pile of papers on her desk.
Sighing, the headmistress, signed the papers mindlessly before handing them back. "There. I'll see you next year, Midoriya. I'm sure your father is very proud."
Izuku ached an eyebrow. His father? What did he had to do with anything?
His soon to become headmistress caught on to his confusion and returned some of her own. "Didn't you know? He was a student here top of his class. The finest as well as unconventional lawyer Shiketsu seen in a while. Not to mention one of your supporters."
Izuku eyes bulged out as he tried to comprehend what he was told. "…huh?"
AN: I think I found my sweet spot for chapter writing that won't kill me too much . 5,000 – 15, 000 with 10,000 as the goal middle ground average. I can't tame doing extremely long chapters anymore like what I've done in the past. Too draining. Mainly because of editing. Also I overhauled the first chapter since it was far too long. I know it was original I one shot intro but that's not true anymore so I cut it down. I also took down the profiles since they were very dated. Now that I have a proper feel for my class of weirdos I had to take that down and change things. I may put it back later when we eventually re meet them or tack it on the end. At any case. Onward I suppose.
LionComet – I know and fair enough. Although it's pretty pointless of me to respond to someone who clearly dropped this by the first chapter this way. oh well. they will never know I suppose. My fault for attempting to make a massive cast of characters and a massive story to boot.
Natza – really? I was near flawless last time. *sniffle* that is good enough for me. I try. I really do. I'm just not a very good writer. Yet here I am still at this. I can see the end is near. Although that end keeps extending itself in my head and I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. I apologies for my ridiculously long writing.
fencer29 – This time you are correct. Arata used real swords to get a more authentic reaction out of the boy. And yeah, he has enough control of his quirk to ensue he wouldn't case any major bodily harm.
Also I like to apologies. I think I might have cause a slight miss understanding. I didn't mean that he used a switch to turn the bot off. And yeah pretty sure power loader would have made those hard to find. Especially on a zero pointier. Maybe even non existing considering they were supposed to run away from those things. I just meant I hinted to her involvement in helping Izuku beat it using her quirk which happened here:
"Don't be so modest. You took down that zero pointers like it was nothing!"
"But I needed your gravity quirk to get up there to do it." - (mainly this line)
"Still without you, I would have been crushed by that thing."
"Not exactly. Now that I got some time to think about it I'm sure U.A would have some sort of safety precautions in place to make sure that doesn't happen."
I think I had her say slice that zero pointer at some point to make it a little clearer but oh well. Still gets the point across and yeah. Deku has kept that broken sword and even used it to destroy his U.A acceptance latter. I thought it was fitting.
Sabrinabella – Ahhh…excuse me as I go to google translate. Humm… French huh. Well…Merci I suppose. As for what follows this. I think its kind of obvious with that final part.
Well time to write the next chapter of my servamp/ MHA crossover. Next time daddy Midoriya because if I'm not going to continue this AU pass this might as well give him a chapter. It will probably short too. But don't quote me on that.
