Chapter 8: Sprouting Seeds
Her schedule of practice is growing and consuming more of her days. If she didn't have a limit on her time she would've been more relaxed about growing her magic but she needed to wield as much as she could possibly learn and quickly. She was drawing up a timetable of her practices and it floated to the wall and stuck in a prominent position of her work space. Her tools for the days practice fluttered down in front of her and she reviewed texts to accompany what she was doing. The magic seal of her door rippled a golden shimmery light and she turned her attention to it, smiling she allowed the door to open. Her eldest son, Aeyrelion enters and she smiles at the sight of him.
'Just like his father at that age' she thought fondly
"You wanted to see me mother?" He asks enquiringly
She turns to face him still sitting, "It's time for you to learn"
And she opens her hand and purple flames leap from her palms and spread through the air around the room.
He smiles and enjoys his mothers display, the purple flames making his eyes shine brightly.
Inside she is warmed by the prospect of teaching her son. He has a good heart and is kind so mastering magic will come naturally to him.
"Where do we start?" He asks in wonder as she calls the flames back to her and they settled into her skin and disappear
"First you need to learn where we come from to appreciate where we are now."
He looks down disappointed as a large old book comes to rest in front of him
He reads the cover slowly, "Valyria: History of the People who founded the Freehold"
He looks deflated.
She chuckles slightly, "Dont worry it looks big but part of your lessons will be built in to what you're reading. I'm going to teach you magic from today, but knowledge is important too."
She looks at him seriously, "You never know when you need this kind of knowledge. Don't underestimate books and what they have to offer you. They're just as important as magic, because without knowledge to build upon, magic won't hold power forever. We have to be smart, cunning and gifted with magic."
He is listening intently to her his hand on the book.
"Valyria came from people who could use magic but it was in a most crude form. They used their hands and their words to perform their magic. Mostly on raising their animals, food supply and building homes. Even though their magic was used on those things do not mistake them for simple people. They were smart and formed intricate levels of hierarchy based on magical skill and where they were strongest. The first group of power was formed of Valyrians who each possessed skills strongest in one of the elements. Earth, air, fire, water and spirit. They lived happily this way until they decided to expand their territories and build cities. It was when they were exploring sites for new cities the ruling council found dragons living in the caves of the largest volcano. From there the records are patchy and no one completely agrees on how it occurred but the council somehow became adept at dragon magic. All of them bonded dragons to them and select families of early Valyrians were able to do the same. It was then that the magical abilities of the Valyrians with magic exponentially grew. Some say it's the magic of the dragons bonding to people that caused it. And others say it was the magic of the volcano. It's not really clear. But what is important to know is this is when Valyria really began to develop."
She placed her hand on the book and looked at her son.
"Do you think you can read and learn all that's within these pages today son?"
He gulped and looked down at the text which was thick and so heavy he didn't think he could carry it to his rooms.
"Uh-I-um don't know mother. I could try?"
She smiled at him, "This will be your first lesson in magic and one of the most important ones. Absorbing information and committing it to memory. We have magic, we do not need to sit for days and read information. You will use what magic you have to absorb it into your mind and store it in your memory. Now, at first, you won't be able to completely memorise the whole book. But with time and practice I will expect full knowledge of Valyrian history, and wars, along with knowledge of every noble house in the city of Valyria and their talents"
His mouth gaped open, "That's a lot to know... how can I ever?"
She beckoned to him, "come sit by me and I'll show you how to direct magic and then use magic for memorisation"
She took him through it and showed him until it was his turn to try. She was happy with his efforts and she ran him through it until he was confident with it.
"Now go memorise that book and learn the knowledge. That will be our lesson for today"
He sat by the book and practiced until he was happy with the retention of the book.
"Thanks for teaching me mother."
"It's my duty son to ensure you seize the talent in your blood"
"Is this how everyone learns?"
She put down her quill and looked at him, "What do you mean?"
"Is this how all Valyrian children learn from the start?"
She shook her head, "N...no," she slowly replied, "It's very individual how families teach their children most often parents pay for teachers to teach what they want them to learn"
He nodded, "Oh ok I thought it would be more...structured."
"How do you mean son?"
"Well to me it makes sense we all learn the basics and the same information. And branch off to family talents later."
He shrugged and stood up, "But I enjoy just learning from you, it makes it special. Just us"
She smiled, she knew she wasn't always available to them and it hurt her heart.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
How had she never thought of this before? Her son was a genius and it didn't strike her until he left the room with the history of Valyria book enchanted to be easier to carry under his arm. She left her office and warded it with protections to prevent entry like she always did.
She sent out her mind to her dragon, 'Vaella, we ride'
Her dragon was pleased, 'Hunt'
'Drop me off first I will need some time, hunt then'
She knew her dragon wanted to visit the designated hunting fields which supplied the Valyrian dragons with all their food.
She vaulted effortlessly up onto the dragons back and they soared from the dome into the city.
She dismounted in the top of the Governors tower and made her way through the familiar halls. And entered the familiar office, her face beaming.
He looked up to see her familiar figure enter through the door. The daughter he never had and the kind of daughter he wished he had.
She bowed slightly, "High Governor might I speak with you"
He indicated a chair in front of his desk
"What brings you here today my child," he looks at his schedule, "and without an appointment also. I often wonder how do you get past my assistant?"
She laughs, "Now why spoil the fun?"
He chuckles knowing she wouldn't reveal her secrets to him.
She leans forward and quietly says, "I need a favour, a big favour and I'd be prepared to extend more on our original agreement."
He looks at her interested, "More on what we agreed? What we agreed was quite valuable to me already."
She inclined her head and replied seriously, "I know sir but if you grant me this I will be open to helping you with another request of your choosing."
He sat back, what she said had floored him.
After her last visit he had sunk into a low state of emotions, and her agreement and promise to him was the only thing that gave him hope.
"I'm listening and I'm interested."
"Doesn't it seem strange that people like us with immense talent lack organisation?"
He scoffed, "If we lack organisation how do you explain the cities we have organised and the way we command our armies?"
She smiles, "We lack organisation in one area that is absolutely crucial to our survival and legacy. The children"
He put down his pen and stood to come join her on the other side of the desk.
"What are you talking about Alaerya?"
He sits across from her and they talk in hushed voices.
"Education isn't standardised Governor. It falls to the families to educate however they choose but this leads to no one mastering the same basic concepts and only focusing on what the families deem important to show them"
"It's the way children have always been taught in Valyria dear"
"Yes and it's how I was taught and you were part of my education, but what if there was a better way sir? Wouldn't it make sense that all noble children wield the same basic magic practices and then choose to focus on the magic of their families? Or better yet what if all children learned all aspects of magic and went on to study advanced magic from there?"
He sat back and looked at her uneasily, "You are asking a big thing. This will upset a lot of people."
She raised her eyebrows, "I don't have time to care to be honest. I'm ready to be initiated into my tests of power with the Fourteen Flames. Who better to develop and teach? No one else has mastered all of this mysteries, until me"
Internally his heart swells with pride, he hadn't realised the extent of her powers and he realised she had hidden it well.
"You will have to reveal yourself, that will have implications."
"I have plans for the ones who resist"
"Do I need to be worried"
She looks at him sarcastically, "Dont worry there will be no blood shed...if they put aside their egos and agree that is"
He laughed, she always did make good on her threats they'd be fools to cross her.
He sighs, "I will prepare the Valyrian Education Decree and have it signed. You will be responsible for everything from curriculum and organising teachers or teaching yourself. And when the time comes, you will take not one but both of my grandchildren and one of my sons of your choosing to this new world you are going to build"
She digested the last part of what he said and for the most part had no problem with it.
"I was planning on taking both of your grandchildren anyway."
"I should've known you would have done that."
"I couldn't leave her to die here sir." she looked at him seriously.
His eyes welled with tears at her words and the thought he had chosen his grandson to live over his grand daughter. Thoughts which had been his source of misery since their last meeting, but he checked his emotions.
"As for your sons that poses a problem. One is strong willed, impulsive and argumentative not qualities I'm looking for. But he's gifted with extreme powers. The other is personally my favourite, but lacking in the skills of his brother. I'll need time to think about this"
He nodded in agreement, "The choice is yours and I respect your choice."
She leaned forward and stares sadly in his face, "You can always join me and save them all you know."
He closed his eyes and replied, "If I do that there's a possibility you'll fail and if you manage to do this it's not a risk I'm willing to take. Avoid detection at all costs".
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Alaerya is sitting in one of the many opulent sitting rooms reading through the scrolls she had authorised by the High Governor. Aeryrelis stands in the doorway watching her a smile playing on his lips and he walks over to her and places his hands on her shoulders and kisses her neck.
She looks up at him and smiles, she passes him a scroll "Some news and some changes..."
Aeryrelis reads the scroll with his brow furrowed and when he reaches the end smiles and looks at his wife.
"How did you come up with this?" he mutters softly.
She takes the scroll from him looking at the signature of the High Governor and the council of Governors. It was all approved and waiting to be set up. He's standing next to her and she smiles up to him in disbelief it actually came through.
"It was actually Aeyrelion's idea"
He looks at her confused, "Now this is a story I want to hear" He sits down across from her.
She looks at him and smiles, "Well I started his education. At the end of his lesson he asked me if all the other children in Valyria learn what he is learning. After he left it wouldn't leave my mind until I realised why. And as you can see the Governors approved of it."
"What did you do to sway them?"
"Not them, just one"
He nodded knowing who she referred to. He looked at her waiting for her to elaborate.
"I promised to keep his family line alive" she said simply.
He whistled, "Not a small promise my dear."
She shrugs, "It wasn't a small favour".
"So once all this is set up what next? How will you really do this?"
"We need those islands first, I'll worry about the details later"
"And what's your immediate plan for quelling the egos in the high families?"
"Well after I reveal myself I'll have them in line for a short time. And when they grow bold I'm thinking of a few possibilities..."
"Leave them where the dragons hunt and fly away?" He laughs cheekily
"Ha I have thought of that! But no...I need them all in line and willing...to agree to anything I ask"
He looks at her in wonder, "It'll take a lot of power for that to happen my love..."
She hears the warning in his voice.
"Yes I know. That's why I need what's most valuable to them under my control first"
"You're going to steal their wealth?"
"No something way more valuable than that and it won't be stealing...it'll be...guiding and building loyalty" she chooses her words carefully.
She slowly starts walking the room and his eyes follow her. Taking in her beauty and intelligence
He captures her hand and draws her to him.
"Whatever this object is they all possess will be heavily guarded and hard to obtain."
She smiles, "it's not what it is...it's who it is"
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
'They don't look impressed' she thinks to herself approaching the banquet hall which was the only hall large enough to accomodate them. She sits at the end of the ornate table, the place reserved for the Master of the House. She feels their eyes on her and knows this could go horribly wrong and backfire on her if she's not careful.
"Thank you for coming everyone. I'm sure you've seen the decree by now which is why I called you all here. To...explain"
All their eyes were on her, some interested, most hostile and she knew it was because they were still people underneath it all and people hate change.
"Can you explain why you think you have the right to do this?" One man spoke directly and harsh, he was a powerful man indeed.
"Because I'm capable of doing it, it was my idea and I'm taking the lead on it. I didn't invite you here today to argue about it. You've seen it's approved, it's all already in motion. I invited you into my home out of respect for all of the various Valyrian temples present in the city to collaborate on what we should be teaching our children. All noble children will be learning aspects of your magic. It would be presumptuous of me to consider myself that skilled to write the curriculum for every aspect of our magic"
The table broke into murmurs.
Another spoke, "So you want us to do the work for you so you can be praised and celebrated while us priests and priestesses who already have a lot of duties to do write your education material?!" A mix of rage and disgust was on his face
"No I only want the highest qualified priests or priestesses to contribute to this. And I want it divided into basic principles of the magic and one for more...advanced works."
They looked to each other confused, one man stayed silent and stared at her for the longest time. She thought she saw his eyes go milky white and flick back again. It was ever so slight the movement but it caught her eye. His hair was more grey than silver and his purple robes highlighted the milkiness that clouded his purple irises.
"We will all do this," he said quietly but with authority
"And who does this woman think she is,?" Said another, "she has power and influence obviously but we can't let someone teach our sacred works who hasn't begun to master..."
She sighed because she hoped it wouldn't have to come to this.
"I sit my test of power for the Fourteen Flames shortly. I also hold the level of High Mysteries for all of your magical practices."
One man at the far end stood up, "That's impossible child! You can't have done that we would all know of you and what you are capable of by now."
She stood up and focused the energy around her, they felt her shift and all fell quiet. She smiled sadly because she really didn't want to expose this side of her talent because it was one of her main talents for going undetected.
She waved her hand over her face, and it changed. One priest gasped at the face before him, his student from long ago who was adept at handling his magic and disappeared after becoming initiated. She waved her hand over her face again, and became a young woman with exotic features a priestess gasped in recognition.
"I could do this all day for every one of you if you want to prove you have all met me before. We have just never met face to face like this-"
She wiped her hand and became herself again.
The man in purple robes stood and began to exit the room, "My work is nearly completed my Lady. I knew of this meeting and have already begun." He leaned forward and said quietly to her, "And I'm relieved to learn one of my most gifted acolytes is still in Valyria."
He smiled and left the room.
Everyone else was still and quiet still unsure of what they've seen
"Can we all agree to work together?" She says after a time. "Think how much more we can do if we teach them everything there is to know and let them choose to take advanced lessons in an area but know how to wield all kinds of Magic. We have swept through weaker civilisations before and crushed them with our armies, imagine what we could do if our magic is more powerful and organised"
She knew this would have them, one thing she could count on was the arrogance of Valyria to want to be the best, always.
They didn't look absolutely content with the prospect of this but they all feared her enough to know they couldn't refuse.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
The meeting hall in the Governors building was heavily overcrowded tonight. Not because of the interest in running of the city but because of what tonight would mean for their families and specifically their children moving forward.
The highest Valyrian families seated closest to the Governors and their faces were a mixture of anger and concern. Other matters were dealt with and plans for expansion of the city and commissioning new buildings was discussed and voted on.
The High Governor cleared his throat, "Now we discuss the recent development of the Valyrian Education Decree."
The room stilled, it seemed all of Valyria nobility and leaders of temples were present and listening intently
"It is the vision of Valyrian Government that we look at ways to grow who we are as a society and as individuals. It was recently pointed out we could advance more as a civilisation and an unbeatable power in this world with better organisation and standards of teaching our children. They are the ones who will one day lead Valyria into the New Age. We need to invest our time and effort into shaping their young minds and honing their talents. Therefore we have decreed that all children of nobility will learn the same curriculum of basic and advanced magic in all factions of magic we currently have. And their schooling will finish by being initiated in the learning the Valyrian Mysteries of their choice."
Murmurs broke out, only a handful of people go on to learn the mysteries, this was unprecedented in Valyrian history.
He waited until the murmurs died down further.
"We have decreed and placed the responsibility of liason with relevant figures of Valyrian magic to develop and teach this curriculum in the hands of the Lady Alaerya Valreon..."
Rage was sparked in a small number of high nobility..."outrage! Downright disrespect! Unqualified and incapable!" They were shouting down at the High Governor
He looked around for her, 'she should be here' he thought
This was the time for her to prove she was up to this task.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
She was present in the room they just couldn't see her. She decided to make a most magnificent entrance because if she didn't do something big and impressive they will never stop in their quest to ruin her.
The room began to fill with specks of light, they floated around and swirled in magnificent patterns. Everyone in the room was stunned and quiet.
The swirl of light spun like a vortex in the middle of the room and formed into the shape of a woman. And then Alaerya was standing there looking up at them all.
She knew this wasn't enough because even though they looked shocked she knew they were still doubting because she could hear the thoughts in their minds. She shut the murmurs out of her mind and focused, eyes open looking up into the crowd.
All around her four pillars of light formed and became dragons sitting around her in a circle. They looked real and took flight around the room, and as people saw them up close realised she was creating elemental dragons out of the energy inherent in the air. There was a dragon made from swirling water, a dragon made of stone, a fiery dragon of the flames and a dragon made of clouds and wind. Something only someone who has mastered the mysteries could be capable of, the lesser nobility looked wide eyed and mouths gaping open. The higher nobility looked a mixture of pleased and furious. Some of the pleased high nobility glanced in amusement at the two families they knew would be angered.
For many, they had never seen magic of the mysteries wielded before, people were gasping and whispering to one another.
After a few minutes of the crowd watching the dragons dancing and diving through the air, she called them back to her, they landed and dissolved back into the air. She glanced at the High Governor and smiled. No words were needed here tonight, silence is power.
Then she was gone in a swirl of magical light.
The High Governor smiled at realising her power and swallowed, "Any objections to the Valyrian Education decree?"
The room was silent, there was still unhappiness there but they were kept in line by the display they had all seen.
No one spoke or moved.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Aeyrelis was seated with the highest nobility at the meeting with his children.
"When is mother getting here?" Said Aeyrelion his oldest, and his other children leant forward and looked at him for his answer.
"She'll be here soon. I thought we would've seen her already actually"
He was confused, she was supposed to speak tonight and convince the Lords of Valyria she was the right one to enact the Education Decree. As the other matters were heard he tried to seek her out with his eyes and his mind but he was unable to find her. Although he knew she was close, sometimes his senses felt her next to him and other times she seemed to be across the room but he could never pinpoint where she was.
When she appeared in a manner which had never been seen, or as far as he knew, done in Valyria he smiled inside. This woman just made him feel so much pride, she carried his name and had just brought their status up even further without really wanting to. At the end of the meeting all of the high nobility's eyes were on him. Majority of the high nobles were to be considered his friend but two families which were always in direct rivalry with his own were clearly hostile. She had definitively proven she was the most powerful wielder of magic and was not only capable but the best person to organise how the children were taught. He began to usher out his family to their waiting dragons.
"So Aeyrelis your plans for your family are out now. You must be pleased to have found a way to surpass us", Lord Ballaer was red faced and angered.
Aeyrelis smiled and faced his enemies, "It's not about surpassing you all. We are all as powerful as one another." Inside he knew that was now untrue after his wife's appearance.
He smiled a warning smile that didn't hide any of the malice he felt towards these people.
"You must have been planning this for a long time" said another voice, a cold and clear voice of an elderly woman dressed in a severe dress in the colours of her house.
"No Elerriae we have not. The need arose when Aeyrelion began his lessons and evolved from there. If you have any questions discuss them with Alaerya. I'm frankly not interested in what you have to say or what you think. If you don't like it I don't have what it takes within me to care."
And he strode away leaving the angry two families staring after him, the family mounted their dragons and in a swish of leathery wings left the building.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
The smell of leather and blades makes her smile as she enters a familiar room. She remembers when she was first betrothed to Aeyrelis she found him here practicing one day and that's when she realised she was in love with him. He showed her his fighting skill and impressive moves which she would later learn and surpass with her ability to perform high jumps and somersaults using her magic. She used to train daily, sometimes twice but as her magical abilities grew she was herded towards focusing on magic by their families.
She ran her hands over the blades on display in the room inviting her to pick them up and play.
She summoned three to her hands, a sword, a curved arakh and a dagger
They swirled In the air towards her and she caught them and began the dance.
'Dance like a shadow' she remembered her teacher telling her as a child. 'Your weapons are extensions of your arms, your mind, heart and body move as one. If you falter or think you will fail, sway with the energy and you will discover your opponents weakness'
Fighting was something that came naturally to her and wasn't something Valyrian women hid or felt ashamed of. Valyrians were proud and strong, fighting is how they showcased it.
She dances endlessly on whirling and jumping, kicking and attacking her invisible opponent.
She lost track of time and space it was just her and her blades. Remembering she had three blades she fought with one in each hand and the dagger swirled around her in the air, lashing out at where her opponent would be. Devastating attacks she's not sure someone would be able to fight off if they were really standing there. She used the fight as a form of physical meditation and when she felt it was enough she swirled and came to a stop. Panting with exertion but exhilarated.
Aeyrelis had stopped by to watch after he heard noise coming from the room. He was on his way to take Rhaellyra, their eldest daughter to fly the dragons together.
Both of them watched amused and inspired by Alaerya's form and skill.
When she finished she found them looking at her and smiled.
Aeyrelis stood behind their daughter, "Tell me my wife, what is it you can't do? Because it seems like that list of things is much easier for us to cover"
She laughed placed the blades down and organised them to be cleaned magically as she walked towards them.
She kissed her daughter, a mini version of herself on the forehead and her husband on the lips.
"I'm doing what makes me happy."
"Well it makes me happy to watch. You haven't been fighting much these last few years"
"Well husband I've been pregnant for many of those years. You know the babies make me feel out of balance and I suffered from sickness while I carried them"
She strokes her daughters hair, "Ready for some riding lessons?"
"Yes mother, and I'm learning some more dragon magic today too."
She bounced excitedly on the spot
Alaerya looks at her husband and he shrugs, "She's ready and we have a large store of eggs. We can always use another breeding dragon."
Alaerya nods and looks seriously at her daughter, "Dragon magic is important it's what made us Valyrians we are today. It's very special to learn this."
"Tell your mother why I decided it was time."
Rhaellyra looks sheepishly at her mother, "I've started having dragon dreams."
Alaerya kneels down and looks into her daughters eyes her arms on her shoulders, "Have you dreamt of anything else?!" She says with a searching gaze
Her daughter shakes her head, "No just dragons, being on a dragons back, being in the body of a dragon and looking after dragon hatchlings"
She stands up feeling relieved as she hears the words of Kinvara in her mind, "when your daughter walks the dream road it's time to leave"...
She watches her husband and daughter leave..."don't waste your time" she hears in her mind
Exasperated she goes to focus her mind in her purple flame and practice for her test.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Sitting in the purple flames and clearing her mind was fruitless, she was busy thinking and planning and plotting how to pull off aspects of saving her culture and people. Realising her practice wasn't going to be successful today she sat at her desk and tried to think what she could do to be productive. She revised her notes on the other elite Valyrian families and the lesser houses thinking of her supporters and critics. Aeyrelis had told her how he was confronted after her display at the meeting.
'How can I bind the loyal families to us further and reward them?' She sighed
She had already decided which families she wanted to offer a chance of survival to.
'If Valyria is to be reborn it needs the right people, we need to leave behind what got us here in the first place.' She thinks over her list and four families clearly seem at the front of her mind. Not all from the highest tiers of society either, she muses and smiles.
She reads their family trees and is amazed at the talent that lays hidden in their past ancestors.
She follows and commits to memory their lineage right down to where they each are today and smiles.
The perfect plan unfolds, she writes her notes and feels her husband in his office and is alone.
She seeks him out.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Aeyrelis shuffles papers half heartedly on his desk bored and procrastinating his work load. Even going out with his daughter and the dragons today hadn't been enough to motivate him into taking action on this tedious work.
'If I hadve known it'd be this boring I would've worked harder in my magic lessons' he thought.
Aeyrelis was an owner and director of several mines under the surface of Valyria. He liaised with his officers who collected and sold the materials and the masters in charge of the slaves who worked for them. His materials would ultimately be used to create magical artifacts or sold to other manufacturers but he didn't have the time too often to make anything himself these days.
He sighed as he thought of this.
She burst into the room gliding towards him with a piece of paper being thrust towards him.
"What's this?" He says tired from looking at pieces of paper all afternoon.
"Betrothals"
He raises an eyebrow and looks down scanning the names and matches.
"Don't you think it's a bit early for the youngest two?"
He looks up at her quizzing her.
"It shouldn't be seeing as we were secretly betrothed from birth."
He chuckled, yes his family had always been close to hers and this was the first time two children had been betrothed joining them together in blood.
"You have some surprising choices on here. A few people are going to feel slighted by this. But on another note you're going to make some of the other families very very happy. And that will inspire a large degree of...obedience" he chose his words carefully.
She smiled and he continued, "But I have to ask for your reasoning on these matches. They strengthen us in ways and weaken us in others. Remember this is all a game we need to think ahead here."
"I'm always thinking to the future dear Husband."
She passes him a piece of paper outlining in detail the ancestors and magical capabilities they possessed.
He smiles "just because they had these talents once doesn't mean they do now". He hands back the paper to her.
She shrugs, "magic is always latent in the blood even if it's dormant for hundreds of years"
He couldn't argue with her, she was one of the most powerful women in Valyria at this moment.
He opened his mouth to reply looking up at her when the door opened urgently
The servant entered and explained she was sorry but they had a visitor with important news.
"Send them in" he said.
She nodded and left the room, shortly after Lord Velaryon strode In smiling with a large scroll in his hands.
He entered the room and noticed them both there, 'perfect' he thought.
He walked toward the desk and they watched him expectantly.
He grinned, "I found it"
He unrolled his maps and placed it over the paper work they had previously been reading.
