Last time...the investigation met it's climax as Izuku and co faced off against the traitor and monstrous nomus.
Aftermath
The aftermath of the case came swiftly. The traitor was taken in by the authorities along with those strange creatures. The students were kept out of the public eye so long as they complete to police questioning. In the end the story was spun to make it look like All Might was the hero of the day. It was a little insulting considering the man just appeared last second but none of the children wanted to be in the spotlight. Especially the child that was an accomplice to the whole crime. It was only thanks to Izuku persuasion and quick mind that boy was able to walk out of this nearly scold free. With the blackmail argument the detective managed to salvage a case for the boy. It ended him with having a temporary expansion but that was better than going to jail. The boy was of course grateful for the defence. The school's lockdown measures were soon lifted, and everything was back to normal.
Well almost everything. Arata was still out of commission. Although the accusations against him were dropped the man had to be taken away due to mental issues. The children were told to keep it on the down low. One of the greatest weaknesses of his quirk. Since the organ that controls his abilities was heavily connected with his brain an overuse of his quirk negatively effectives his brain. Sometimes it's not so bad. Just mind dizziness and even headaches. It gets worst when he starts losing memories. Sometimes it's just a day worth of memories. Other are weeks even years. In some of the worst cases they were told he could lose those memoires for good. Of course, his students were worried. It already seemed like their teacher has forgotten about them, but the doctor assured them this was going to be one of the lucky times he could reclaim his memory. The man just needed they left it like that with the case of the traitor and missing data solved.
Now Izuku found himself freely walking through the hallways of his school. His destination the support department. He commissioned something weeks ago and he hasn't been able to collect due to the lockdown. As the boy entered the support class work room and was littered with towers of junk. Although for a support engineer he supposed they would see it as towers of treasures. Several metal parts and machinery were piled on top of the other in both an orderly and chaotic manner. Thankfully, there was the single clear path of an open reception area. At the end of it was some sort of metal desk. The only thing on said desk was a big red button. Not leaving him with much choice, Izuku pressed the button. An alarm rag out as well as the shuffling of metal.
Popping out of the piles of junk was a young man. Looked like a third year if you considered his high alone. A simple pair of glasses framed his face a long with a curl on bangs on either side of his before head. His hair was a deep purple that curled and flared down the ends reaching his shoulders. "Ah hello there. What can I do you for?"
"I place an order for some equipment. I'm here to pick it up. My name is Izuku Midoriya, class 1-1." The boy explained politely.
The third year nodded his head and got out a book hidden under the desk. "Yes, yes. I remember now. Your equipment request should be ready. I'll go grab it for you. Just a minute." He then scurried at the back. Loud clangs of metal clashing on metal could be heard on the other side. A part of him wandered if that guy was going to be ok.
"Oh, hi there. You a part of the support deportment?" The new voice sounded unfamiliar to him. However, when he turned around it was attached to a very familiar face. Behind him was the face of a classmate he knew well but their voice was oddly different. It didn't seem as deep as it was and more valley girl tone? Also, she should know that he isn't a part of the support department. "Can you help me. I'm looking for something to like. Enhance my hero costume. It's cute and all but it could use a little some something something. You know?"
"Camie you should know I'm not in the support department. I'm your classmate," he stated the obvious. "Also is there something wrong with your voice. You sound different."
'Camie' gasped in shock and trotted closer to him. She playfully inspected the boy with a less handy approach then what he'd know the girl for. "No way. I would totally remember a cutie like you. OMG! Are those freckles like legit. So adorbs." The girl was an inch close to pinch them before Izuku jumped away. Something was off. Her voice. He mannerisms. It was all off.
Uncomfortably, Izuku step back from the grill with his arms raised as a shield. "Are you feeling ok, Camie?"
"I feel fine thanks for asking," said a voice he recognised. Truing around there was another Camie? What? The girl chilled at the boy's utter confusion while his head switch between the two Camies. None of it was making sense to him. Steam was coming out of his head from his overworked brain gears. he tried to comprehend what the hell his eyes were seeing. The other Camie skipped over to Camie and they linked arms. The similarities were too uncanny. Are they twins? Why do they have the same name? Too many questions were going around his head at once.
Luckily, Camie came in with an explains. "Midoriya, this is Camie with a U. We meet in jour high and are no way related. We just happened to look alike and have the same first name." She said it like it was a rehearsed line that she had to say constantly
Ah that made sense kind of. Honestly Izuku was sill wrapping his head around what was happening in front of him. "it's such a coincidence don't you think?" The other Camie cheekily explained while extended an arm in greet. "The name is Camie Utsushimi by the way. It's like so cool to meet you."
"There are two of you!" shirked another familiar voice behind them. Turing around they spotted the rest of the dorm kids: Seiji, Nagamasa and Inasa. Seiji had the most disgusted look on his face while he stared at the twin Camies. "This has to be some sort of nightmare. For there to be two of you. Someone tell me with isn't real."
The two Camies greeted him with mirror movement. "Nah this is real." They said in perfect timing.
Seiji groaned while melting into his high collar. "Oh joy." The other kids had a good laugh while the two Caimes procced to semi harass the boy. He yelled at them to stay away but they were having too much fun to listen. The girls ended up shoving his arms in their chest. He hated ever second of it. "Unhand me you sexual deviants!" They weren't letting him go anytime soon,
Meanwhile, Nagamasa and Inasa ignored their troubled classmate in favour of talking to Midoriya. Turned out there were some forms they wanted to submit to upgrade their hero uniforms. It got Izuku talking nonstop while Seiji was casually getting molested behind them.
Eventually, the third year from before came out with a silver briefcase. "Here you are, Midoriya. As requested along with a manual inside." Izuku gave a quick thank you while talking the case. Their attention was then taken by the two Camie. "Ah miss Utsushimi you're here. You have an appointment with me if I remember correctly. If you'd kindly follow me. Oh, and if those forms are for me. Just put them in this box." He pointed a lone box in the corner of the room.
The students complied while the other Camie skipped over, "lead the way Lenalee's older bro," she cheerfully sang. She waved a quick goodbye and disappeared behind the piles of junk.
This left the rest of them out their own with their jobs completed. One of then just had to ask. What was in the briefcase. Izuku's face flushed red while he sheepishly tried to hide it. "I'll explain it when we get to class. I want it to be a surprise."
Choosing not to press on any further the students walked together to class quietly. The quiet was odd yet welcoming. Camie and Seiji have been at each other's throats since the begin of the year. To have them this calm while next to each other was a welcome miracle. Still Izuku couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. Seiji's eyes. They've been at him this entire time. "Is there something you want to say to me?"
The group halted in their tracks. Soon Seiji stepped forward and faced Izuku. His eyes aimed right at his making him gulped. Unexpectedly he bowed deeply. "I strongly apologies for everything I've said in the past. Also thank you for saving me."
Izuku jumped back and waved off the comments. "Hang on a second. I accept the apology, but I didn't do anything."
"You stood up for me when barely anyone did. That was more than enough."
"You also solved the case and helped take out the crook. I wouldn't exactly call that nothing." Camie added on getting a little too close in his personal space. Bushing Izuku turned away. Far too embarrassed to do anything else. Luckily, Seiji wasn't and pulled the girl away from him. They then began to bitter like any other day. Some things just never changed.
"Hey!" Inasa yelled aloud. He was staring at a big picture hanging on the wall with many others. He pointed to it with a grin. "This guy kind of looks like you, Midoriya." The others gathered around the picture. They all agreed that their detective did have a striking similarity to the man in the picture. What with the freckles and dark curls. Izuku wasn't really surprised though. It was a picture of his father. They were currently in the school's hallway of greats where their most accomplished students' pictures were hanged in celebrations. He's seen this picture many times.
Proudly, Seiji stepped forward. He adjusted his non-existing glasses as he prepared his lecture. "This hallway is home to Shiketsu's greatest. All from the day it was founded to present day. This picture belongs to one of the schools' top lawyers. Nicknamed the noble dragon of the court. A man of excellent deduction skills and high moral compass." His prided and ego steeped further as be puff his chest out. "My father and him were very close friends and worked on many cases together. You can trust his words when he says he was an exceptional man. Unfortunately, I can't recall his full name. My father only ever refers to him as Hisashi since they were close. Although I do believe he's working in America, so they haven't been able to talk much. Father always said he was a workaholic." He then turned a passing glace at Izuku. "I do admit there is quite the resemblance. Maybe you're related."
The young detective couldn't help but laugh at that comment. "Well, he is my dad so yeah. Although if I'm being honest, I look more like my mom. I have her eyes, hair and face shape now that I think about it"
To say Seiji was shocked was an understatement. He looked like his soul shattered and left his body. The other were a little surprised too but to his extent. In a blink of an eye be shoved his face into Izuku's while griping on his shoulders. They were so close their noses were touching. The closeness made Izuku so uncomfortable he held the briefcase he was carrying up like a shield. Much good that did him since Seiji remained in place. "Midoriya, please punch me."
"…excuse me?"
"I have caused great transgression in criticizing your character. For that that you must claim retribution. So, I beg of you. Punch me as hard as you can."
"I'm not going to punch you!"
The two of them when on this back and forth. Seiji claiming, he should be punched for everything he's said up till now for smearing Izuku's honour. Izuku of course rejected. One he didn't want to do it. Two although Seiji's words hurt, he was mainly complaining about how the school system put in him the wrong class. He was annoyed by that too. Before things got escalated, Nagamasa placed a hair wall between them and pushed then away from each other. "That's enough you two. Can't we call agree that's all in the past. Seiji apologised and Izuku accepted. Now let's all move on and get to class."
The sudden wall of hair makes Izuku stubbled back a few steps. He didn't know it at the time be someone was close to the group. A approaching them with soft marches. Accidentally, the boy made contact and bumped into them. "I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going." Izuku apologised with a deep bow.
When the child looked up, he saw a tall elderly man. He couldn't call him extremely old, but he did have some defined wrinkles along the side of his face and eyes. They were cold with a grey hue. Nearly dead as if he had seen death itself. They brought shivers down the student's spine. Dark grey locks parted over his wrinkled forehead and curled along his shoulders. The air around him felt old. As if death lingered around him yet refused to take him. If suit even looked old fashioned. Grey in colour with a long tailcoat and a red tie. His bony hands curled around the hooked handle of his dark wooden cane. He started at the children with a hum. Mainly Izuku. "You. You're the child Arata brought in. Izuku was it?" With a stomp of his cane, he suddenly leaned into the child. Staring at him intensely at the boy's face. "Are you truly the one we've been waiting for."
The sudden action fighting the boy as he stubbled back to the arms of his classmates. "Excuse me?" He questioned nervously.
"Ah Izuku. And morning to the rest of you." Greeted their headmistress cheerfully. It was thanks to her the sudden awkward atmosphere cleared up. The old man turned to face he while she laid a hand on his shoulder. She used the other to gesture to him introducing him to the group. "I see you've met our dear founder. This is Shinomori Shiketsu my something great grandfather. He came by today to inspect the school. Really rare but considering the recent incident he felt like he had to." She leaned into the kids with a playful wink as if she was about to tell them an important story. "He has a quirk that lets him live long and somehow none of his descent got it so far. So, he outlived all of them. Maybe us too."
"You need not remind me of my curse, granddaughter." Their founder said sternly with an empty tone. The voice held such power it made all their hairs stand on end. Even their headmistress. She he hanged her head low. As if she was a child being scolded. Perhaps it was like that since nearly everyone to the founder was a child. "I'm very aware of the amount of death I have seen and lived to tell the tale. I've been waiting to tell them to a so call prophecy child. I've been waiting to a very long time." His eyes once again landed at Izuku. "Could my wait finally be over?"
Izuku wasn't sure why but the way this man looked at him felt heavy. It was like he was expecting something from him. They burned with unknow desire and hope. As if he was waiting for years. Decades even for something. Whatever that thing was he expected it form the boy. Izuku couldn't begin to image what it could be. He never met this man before. Sure, he had heard of him. The legendary founder of Shiketsu that still leaved to this day. He was a recluse. Rarely leaving the confinements of his home. Most staff members never seen him let alone students outside of paintings that decorated the walls. The weight his eyes placed on Izuku's shoulders unnerved him.
"Tell me, Izuku. How much to you know about Arata? Has he told you anything yet?" He asked suddenly.
Of course, the question confused Izuku. He was his teacher. A man who went out of his way to get him to where he was today. He provided the boy with the tools needed to carve his path. To be able to hold his head high with pride. He never needed a quirk to do that.
It was then he realised none of those were really a not proper answer. In reality, he doesn't know much about the man. He just appeared in his life one day. With no rhyme or reason, he decided to train him and push him on his correct path. He never knew why. In fact, he doesn't know a lot of things. Like how old he was. His birthday. Where he from. Despite how long they've known each other he didn't a lot of details about him. When that revelation dawned on him the boy couldn't squeak a single word out of his mouth.
Curiously, the founder hummed while arching up an eye brown. "Form that look in your eyes perhaps not." His eyes suddenly sharpened. There was a hidden glee laced in them. A type of excitement that made him feel giddy. "Do you what me to tell you?"
The suddenly the man's voice was gone. His mouth was opened yet no words came out. Only squeezes of air as if something was stuck in his throat. His hands instinctively squeezed around his neck allowing his cain to drop with a thud. They claw at the inviable object that squeezed around his neck. Then he coughed violently. His eyes cracked wide like they would pop out at any second. The sight brought a chill to the children as they force unsure of what to do.
"Grandfather!" Their headmistress hurried to the man's side and started doing coking procedure. It didn't seem to help as the old man continued to cough. Desperate for air. Unable to breath. It drove everyone to a panic. Financially they looked to each other wondering what they should do.
With gritted teeth the man growled at air. "Alright I cave," he choked out of breath. Whatever force that possessed him suddenly dropped. He collapsed in the arms of his worried granddaughter. She held him up demanding to know what happened. He pushed it all aside. He fixed his tie and retrieved his cane as if nothing happened. Then he made one last glance to the students. His eyes never leaving Izuku once. "Perhaps our paths will cross again."
"What was that about?" One of them asked.
Izuku scratched the goose bumps along his arms. Something didn't feel right. "I…I don't know." He stuttered truthfully. There was something he was missing. However only one man had the answers to that.
The day went on like normal. Although Seiji still implored to have Izuku punch him which he refused. The rest of the class looked on in confusion. Watching Seiji dropped to his knees and beg was an odd sight. No one had time to ask as their substitute teacher walked in soon after. They demanded them to stop messing around so they go get going with class.
Classes went by like usual. Odd without their main teacher to teach them. Izuku couldn't help but worry about Arata. He's never seen the man in that sorry of a state and he couldn't help but share a little bit of the blame for it. If he had been a little smarter or stronger maybe Arata would still be with them instead on medical leave. The fact that some of his memories were incomplete the last he saw him was also a worry. Will he remember them when he came back? It was a scary thought. Soon the lunch bell rang, and the class was dismissed. Pretty much the entire class decided to stick around a little longer before heading to lunch. Especially those curious about Izuku's shiny briefcase.
"What's with the briefcase, detective?" Karma curiously asked while leaning an arm over Izuku's chair. His golden eyes ran up and down the side of said case.
Smiling, Izuku called his classmates over saying that the case was for them. That got the rest of them curios enough to gather around the boy. Once all of them were accounted for, Izuku unclipped the case allowing the lid to swing open. Inside were a scent of uniform devices that looked like they could fit perfectly in one ear. There was enough for all of them plus a couple spares. There was an out liar among the lot in the form or a pair of glasses and a watch. Izuku frowned at the glasses and picked this up. "I don't see how this is blind friendly. Maybe the Manual would help."
"What exactly is all this?"
Izuku perked up at the question and began to explain. "This is my gift for all of you. It's a communication set. Com links basically. Something a team of pro heroes use on team missions. You guys complained about how your phones were inefficient during your team combat sessions with Arata sensei. So thought you guys could use something like this."
One by one, the students took an earpiece and tied to fit them in their ears. They were surprisingly comfortable and light. They could barely feel that they were there to begin with. "These are great, Midoriya."
Then when Takako was about to take one, Izuku shifted the case away and shook his head. When he felt the girl's dragged eyes aimed at him, he shyly looked away. Then he presented her with the pair of glasses. "These ones are actually for you, Taisho. They're the master headset. Essentially, they have completely control over the other com links. If you need to silence any of them for whatever reason you can do it using this." He them pulled out the watch that was right next to the glasses. "They have some other features you can play around with. Like overriding an earpiece voice command. Oh, that reminds me. Each commlink will responses to one user and one user only. This was a feature to prevent anyone else will ill intent to use it and hack communication. There's more in the manual. I asked them to make a version for the blind for you, Taisho. I think they're somewhere in here."
Curiously, Takako took the glasses and felt them out with her hands. She then touched the blindfold around her eyes and shook her head. She handed the glasses back to Izuku. "I do not think this will suit me. While I appreciate the sentiment it would be uncomfortable and unnecessary. I'm not very good with technology if I am being truthful. I'll take the normal pair. You should take the master set. It sounds like you'll be able to understand it better than I could."
Fishing back, Izuku lowered his head. "Sorry but I can't do that."
Takako aside an eyebrow. "And why is that?"
Sadly, Izuku's smile changed to a nervous one. "I'll be moving to the detective class." He finally admitted. "This is actually my goodbye gift for all of you."
The mood of the room suddenly dropped. It took a good minute before anyone spoke up: "you're transferring to another class?"
The sudden change of mood weighted on everyone. Izuku tried to change it by continuing to smile. He talked about how much fun been here despite the rocky start. That didn't stop the inedible transfer. He was just shocked it took this long to get here. The problem was solved now so there's no need to worry about it anymore. "I'll be transferred by the start of next week. So, this will be my last day with you guys. Now that I think about it this my last class with you all in general. I must go to my law-and-order classes after lunch and think you guys have hero training. That will be hard without sensei. I wonder who you guys have as a stand in."
"You don't have to wonder because I am here to stand in for myself." Bursting through the door with an enthusiastic energy was Arata. His head was still bandages up at the forehead but at least he was still sanding. With all the energy he was putting out you'd not think he was hospitalized for the last few days. "The doctors gave me the ok this noon. So, I rushed back here as soon as I could." The class couldn't be happy. They were still trying to comprehend the first major news that hit them. All of them expect Izuku stood still in silence. Izuku rushed up to his sensei and collided at him with a hug. The man laughed while stroking the boy's curls. "Well at least one of you is happy to see me. How I've been, my boy?"
"I should be the one asking you that." Izuku snapped back worriedly. "Are you sure you are, ok? Do you remember us now?"
Thankfully the man nodded. "I'm lucky this wasn't that serious. Only temporary." He then took out a notebook form his blazer. It was a familiar one to the young detective. It did belong to him. "Your little notebook with everyone's details help quicken the process quite a bit. So, thank you for that, my boy." While the boy took It back it was obvious with his worried expression that he wanted to ask if this happened often. Sad to say it did if he over worked his quirk. It made Izuku worry more "Not to worry, my boy. I'll just have to be more careful." He then switched focus to his other students who have yet to greet him. They all looked conflicted. "Did I miss something?"
Izuku shook his head. "Nothing much. I've just been saying my final goodbyes. Today's my last day."
"Oh yes. That's right. You'll be heading off to the detective course soon." The man patted the boy one more time with pride. "I'm sure you'll do well, my boy."
He nodded a long with the prise. As interesting as a time, it has been in the hero course, but it was time to go where he belonged. He said a final good luck to his teacher. He's going to need it if his classmates started acting up again. Then he walked pass him to reach the door. He turned around one last time. "It's been fun you guys." Izuku called out was he was about to walk out of this classroom for the final time. He smiled brightly at all over them. Scanning their faces to memory. Although he would still see those who lived in the dorms regularly, he might not be able to see much of anyone else. He felt oddly nostalgic looking at them all together one last time. "I'm sure all of you will be great heroes. Good luck and I hope my gift proves to be useful." With that he closed the door for the last time.
The student held a gloomy silence at the young detective's departure. They all glanced at each other wondering if anyone would say anything. Most of them had their eyes on their communication devices the detective commissioned for them. They were designed to work for them and them alone. It was thoughtful. Arata noticed their gloom and called out. "What's wrong with you all? I thought you'd all be happy to at least see me back."
"We are sensei it's just..." They all stared at their so called finally goodbye presents. They couldn't help but think over everything that has happened this far. Despite the rocky semester it was still fun. They've all gotten closer as a class with fighting Arata and the recent traitor case. They wouldn't have come nearly as easily together without that young detective. Heck Seiji might still have been considered a traitor. The more they thought about it the more they thought the class won't be the same without their quirkless detective.
Their thoughts made Arata smile almost conniving. "You all are going to miss him that much?"
It was a question they all knew the answer to even if most of them wouldn't want to admit it. Finally, one of them spoke out. Seiji calmly raised his hand up. "Arata sensei…is there any possibility to have Midoriya stay?"
Arata's smile grew winder. "I can think of a few things. We'll need to work quickly though. Hopefully, some of you are good at the art of persuasion. Kondo." The chestnut-haired boy jumped at the sound of his last name. "How much footage were you able to capture that night."
Click shared Arata's conniving grin. "You think me an amateur. I got a lot of great shots."
"Well then," the teacher said while clapping his hands together. "We have some work to do."
Today just wasn't Izuku's day. He was supposed to finally move into the detective class but instead he was told he couldn't. Apparently by some odd turn of events the detective classes were full despite the fact he had a recommendation scholarship. This fact was the reason why the transfer took so long to begin with. They had thought that a hero student was transferred to the class but that was not the case. So, they had the option of kick someone out form the class in favour of Izuku. Or another option which was to continue what he has been doing for most of this semester. It was a wild conversation he had with their headmistress. She acted like this was completely ok. No, it was not. His classmates would most likely not like this development. Most of them made it clear that he should be with his own people away. Yet now somehow, he was stuck with them. Just great.
Turning back, Arata stopped his young student mumbling to himself while following him like a zombie. His eyes were cracked wide open with bags hanged under him. The news of his permanent stay clearly didn't sit well with him. "Not to fear my boy. I'm sure you'll do well despite this. You've been doing well so far despite the odd circumstances."
"But sensei," Izuku whined. "Being there while not being a hero student feels wrong. Isn't this going to be a problem?"
"It hasn't been much of a problem so far." Soon the two of them reached the classroom door. Arata turned to his student with a smile. "Wait here. I'll call you in when it's time." And so, the teacher opened the door while kicking a wedge in at the bottom. Leaving it wide open. Izuku from the outside watched his teacher calmly marched into the room and faced the class with his usual smile, "Alright class it's time to reintroduce a special student. You can come in now my boy." The man held his white-gloved to the boy.
Biting his bottom lip and fiddling with his hands, Izuku peeked pass the door. He was debating whether to run away. It's not liked his inclusion in the class was well received before. The gazes of his classmates didn't help. Eventually, he gulped back his nervousness and stepped beyond the boundary. However, his legs seemed to malfunction as he almost feels flat on his face. Luckily, a disembodied hand was there to catch him mid-fall and stood him back to place. It belonged to Seiji. When their eye met, he nodded at him to keep moving forward. Izuku was thankful for the assist. He returned to its owner and nodded politely. His voice was in a jittery state. "Thank you."
"Come now, young man. It's time to reintroduce yourself," their sensei called out to him.
Nervously, Izuku walked up to the front of the class and faced them. "Hello, my name is Izuku Midoriya, and I'll be permanently in your class form now on. I hope you all don't mind."
"Mind?" called karma with a sly grin. "Why would we mind since we were the ones that put on a 30-minute presentation to let the school board keep you in here."
Izuku stumbled back in surprise. "Wait, that was you guys? But why?"
"Because well like you silly," cheer out Aiko which was a suspicious since they haven't interacted much.
Then Camie chimed in with her usually flirty tone, "That's right, sweetheart. We didn't want anyone else to steal you away from us."
Ducking his head, he looked down at his feet doubtfully. "Still, I'm supposed to be a detective student. All of you are training to become the next generation of heroes. I shouldn't really be here," he said in a jittery voice.
"Bullshit!" Inu-kage yelled out. "Hero. Detective. Who gives a fuck? We both try and make the world a better place and help people. So, what's the difference?"
"Inu-kage has a point," Allen called out while holding up his misshaped hand. "You were the first one to stand up for Shishikura when no one else did. You pretty much saved him single handily. If that's not the making of a hero I don't know what is."
The quirkless boy turned away from the class with his freckled face gradually turning pink. "No. I didn't do anything special. Anyone could do what I did."
"That's wrong and you know it," Yuko joined blankly. "You should have more confidence in yourself young detective."
He continued to look down at his feet - eyes full of doubt. One can only wonder what he was thinking at the time. "I'm quirkless. I'm really nothing special," he stuttered out weakly with voice wavering with every word. "I don't have special powers like you all do. I'm sure you'll all make amazing heroes one day. As for me, I'm just your average detective. I really don't belong here with you all."
"Does it look like we care?" They said together at once. It was as if they knew he was going to say that a rehearsed these lines beforehand. Some looked genuine as they as it. Other not so much but the effect was the same. "In our eyes, you're already a hero."
Izuku's emerald eyes widen in pure shock as he took a step back. He placed a hand over his heart gripping it tightly as he forced his head down covering his eyes with his free arm. His teacher walked up to him and placed his hands on his shoulders. He bent down a whispered in his ear. "They worked hard to keep you here. Tracked down staff members over the weekend just to hear them out. Crash into last week's meeting too before anything was decided. They were quite impressed with your skill fighting against that flighty creature and traitor. Kondo kept the camera rolling just to catching you in action. Edited the whole video. Add that to your notes and training delegation and you fit in just fine. They want you here. Are you really going to reject them after all that work, they put in to have you stay?"
Then the boy looked up again revealing his tear-stained eyes. Quickly, he wiped away the tears and face the class as tall and proud as he could manage. He smiled brightly, "I don't know if I can be of any use for all of you, but I'll try my best not to weigh you all down. So please if any of you need me for anything I'm more than willing to help."
"Good now have a seat, my boy. Oh, and Kondo please put that camera down. I'll be starting class soon."
There was a chuckled behind the screen. "Sorry sir, but someone had to record this monumental occasion."
"And I'm glad you did but still put that down."
"Yes, sir."
But then their teacher made one final announcement. "Oh, by the way, I've decided to make Midoriya the class representative and Takako the vice representative. I hope there is no objection because I'm not changing my mind."
Izuku jumped right out of his skin and turned to his teacher his farced screaming in anxiety and shock. "WAIT! WHAT?"
"I object to that decision!" Takako interjected immediately after. The rage on her face painted over her face. She pointed an arm at the very panicked detective. "You expect this class of heroes to be led by some quirkless detective! Are you mad?" Her anger then softened while she gave a weak apologetic bow to said detective. "Apologies for my hash words."
"No, I agree. Why me!" Izuku demanded.
Slyly, Arata smiled while telling his students to calm down with a hand gesture. "I just thought you'd be well suited. You've help brought this class together and proved to have some leader qualities to you. Take your role in the recent investigation and of course the advice given to take me down. Takako would make a good assistance to you. Unless you have someone else in mind. Mora perhaps?"
Izuku frantically shook his head. He would agree that Takako would make a great rep or vice rep due to her status of next family head. The girl was calm and strict. She had the air of a commander unlike him. Beside he had to say yes. Otherwise, he was sure the prideful dog girl would bite his head off. "It's not that. I just don't think I can lead. I'm not even a hero."
"That doesn't matter." Arata interjected. "We need a representative for this class. If I recall you are now permanently apart of this class." Other students spoke up in favour of their teacher's decision. Mainly those were joined on Izuku's escapades on his first true detective case. He's already shown to be a decent leader. Organizing meetings and delegating orders to run the investigation as smoothly as possible. Provided you ignore the mess it ended being with the how villain battle. But even then again, he lead well. Not afraid to go after the gaol. Thinking on the spot to get out of or at least how to deal with their unfavourable situation.
The young detective couldn't fight that. He couldn't fight Arata even if he tired. When then man thinks of something he goes through with it. The boy was still sure they were the one that made put him into this class to begin with. Now that he thought about it. His sensei has done a lot of odd things. Specially for him. He saved his life after accident falling off a cliff. He trained him for the U.A exams while also coxing him to go to Shiketsu. He contacted his own father and had them rebuild a bridge that was left unfinished between them. Told the child time and time again that his quirkless status wasn't a detriment. He had done so much for him. So, he would hate to sound ungrateful, but it was odd. So many things about his sensei was odd. His accidental run in with the founder only made Arata's oddness clearer. Like his thoughts on quirkless. The fact he's not in the top 10 heroes despite having arguably one of the strongest quirks he has even seen…his quirk.
Arata's quirk. Dual-kinesis. The ability to use both telekinesis and telepathy just not at once. Or so he claimed. The quirk was odd. The more he thought back at a couple of moments. The more he began to realise something was very wrong. There were moments in time where the description of their quirk didn't match with what his teacher did. A simple telekinesis and telepathy quirk couldn't logic their way out of them. The longer he though. The more the pieces refused to fit. While class continued Izuku's mind wandered in a downward spiral. His sensei was lying. He concluded. There was something else that worried him. Gave him this bearable itch. He could no longer ignore it.
The day ended and the students said their goodbyes one by one. Izuku however stayed seated with a darken express. Some students tried to convince him to go with them, but he said he needed to talk to their teacher in private. When everyone finally left the classroom Izuku become brave enough to talk. "Arata sensei. There's something that's been on my mind recently."
Innocently, the man turned at his dear student. "What is, my boy?"
"Your quirk isn't Dual-kinesis isn't it?"
Arata frozen at the accusation. His kind eyes grew sharp with warning. "What makes you say that?"
He didn't like the tone the man was giving. It was a lot colder than what he was used to. There was this almost threatening layer about it. Something was very wrong. Still, he pushed forward despite all his senses telling him to go back. "You claimed you only have telekinesis and telepathy. Yet some things you do don't match with those abilities. Like when you magically fixed the classroom as if nothing happened. There weren't even cracks. It just doesn't make sense. Unless you taped everything back together telekinesis can only put things back in their places. Not fix them. There was a hole in the ceiling. Even if you put all the pieces back once you stop using your quirk they should fall back from their places." It was something he didn't thought much of at the time. The high tension of his classmates' inner battles kept him and anyone else form thinking too deeply about it. Then there was another event. "Mikoyasha's healing ability is incredible, but it wouldn't be to heal you. Not with your wound that big. It was hard to tell with all the blood but I'm sure it was completely closed went you got taken away."
The room's atmosphere dropped several degrees the more Izuku talked. The boy always had a lot of say. This time was no exception. He noted every time he noticed his teacher quirk acting odd. Doting things that he claims he can't do, or he shouldn't be able to do. The boy's observation was top notch. Arata couldn't help but be a little impressed.
Finally, Izuku finishes with this list of inconsistencies and took a deep breath. There was one last question he wanted to know, "Also who is All For One? You know him. Don't you."
The mere sound of that name drooped to freezing temperatures. Even more concerning there was this clicking noises all around him. The widows. The doors. They were locking them sleeves. The blinds even stared to go down plunging the two of them into dim darkness. The only sored of light was the glow of Arata's quirk in action. His eyes had this unsettling playfulness in them. The most disturbing thing was that they were aimed at Izuku. As usually Arata smiled from ear to ear.
Something was off about the smile. It made Izuku's hair stand on end. Something was wrong. Very wrong. He wanted to run form this clearly dangerous situation, but he couldn't. His body was cemented on the chair. Nothing could mover but his head. Panicked, Izuku yelled at Arata. "What are you doing?" He demanded. There had to be a logical reason to this. There's no way Arata would do anything to hurt him. Right?
Arata's smile grew more sadistic with each second that went by. He then began to casually circle the chair bound student in an almost predatory way. "Oh Izuku, I do admire that brain of yours and your eyes. It's like you could see right through anyone. Even me." Suddenly, Arata bent down and shoved his face into Izuku's. Their eyes meeting each other intensely making the boy's heart race as fast as an engine. Then Arata's face so softened as his pulled away. "You do have the exact same eyes as him. So, I shouldn't be so surprised."
"What are you talking about," Izuku demanded. He tried to sound tough, but he sounded too panicked to be tough.
Again, Arata began circling the boy while he struggled in his chair. The smile on his face was just so happy given the situation. "You want to know who All for One is? Well to put it simply he's a traitorous demon that deservers to go to the deepest part of hell." His tone of voice clashed with his words. Although he high and cheerful his words were anything but. Yet he continued with this cheery tone as if he was glad to finally talk about this after keeping it in for so long. "He has killed many. Even my beloved. His own little brother." Arata then stopped and leaned on top of his desk while facing Izuku. His hand gripped the ended causing cracks to from on its surface. His smile twisted to a wickedly angry one while his eyes burned with absolute loathing. "He's killed so many of his own family. Fulling knowing who they are. All for the sake of getting back what he gave away. Why couldn't be have respected my beloved wished to stay quirkless to begin with?" He led back to Izuku face. Any sanity he had was gone from his eyes. "Are quirks really so special? They're more of nuisances than thing don't you think? Human society was doing so well without them. Even better might I add. Everything went to flames the day they appeared."
Izuku stop listening to his teacher a while ago. To distracted of thinking up ways to get out of this situation. "Look, sensei. I don't understand anything you're talking about. So please let me go."
Then Arata stroked Izuku's head so kindly. Izuku would enjoy, however. The man was making he too on edge. The boy didn't know what to think at this point. Then he looked at his teacher's eyes. For that moment he looked normal. Like the man he'd know all this time and grew to respect. It calmed him a little. Fondly, Arata stared at Izuku face detailing very little feature about him to memory. One if his greatest treasures. "Don't worry Izuku. There's nothing for you to understand. That's because you don't need to do anything anymore. Just live the rest of your live however you like and be happy. That's all I'll as of you from now on."
Panic once again settled in Izuku's heart. Even more so as Arata clawed his skull in place. The piercing pressure his nails was unlike anything he ever felt. It was like they were penetrating to his very brain. "What are you doing, sensei?" he cried.
"Sssshhh… it will all be over soon. Don't worry about it my boy. I will take care of everything now. There's no need for you to interfere."
"I don't understand."
"There is no need to. It was wrong of me to push so much responsibly on to you without you being oblivious to it all. You already suffer from my foolish mistake. For that I am truly sorry." The man they placed a loving kiss on the boy's forehead. He then leaded his forehead against the boy. Enjoying the closest. Izuku wasn't eased by it one bit. He grew more panicked by the second. "I'll take care of everything. Even if it means dying again. Just promise me you live the remainder of your life span in peace and happiness."
"Arata sensei, you're scaring me."
Again, he planted another kiss on the boy for head and whispered gently. "Don't worry. Leave every to me."
Not a second later Izuku's vision went dark.
There was this stabbing sensation in his head. Like he was prodded with needles. It hurt so much. His vision was blurred but he would just make out a familiar outline. Rubbing his eyes, Izuku let out a great yawn. "What happened, sensei?"
"You fell asleep my boy," Arata replied. He stoked back his student. The child closed their eyes in peace at the touch. "You must have been tired. You should get back to the dorms. Didn't you say you needed to contact your father and mother?"
Izuku blinked several times while his fuzzy mind cleared. That's right classes ended, and he felt drowsy for some reason. How odd. It wasn't like him to do that. Then he remembered his dad. He hasn't been able to contact him since lockdown ended. His mother must be worried to. He had to go talk to them before they each die from worry. "Yeah, I should go. Thanks for the remainder, sensei." Then the boy rushed out of the classroom as if nothing had changed.
That was the first and last time Arata sensei did anything like that to me. It was also the first time he told me that story even if I didn't remember it. It wouldn't be the last time he will tell me it. All of it. So many things have happened since then. I could have never image it would all happen to me. It was a trial nearly every week. Although the one true suffer through it all was you? Wasn't it, sensei? You did everything in your power to protect me. To keep me from that so called density you for saw.
Arata held his had up in goodbye. Izuku gave one last wave before heading out. Once the door closed behind him Arata coughed. His hand that covered his mouth was dripping with blood. Another drop fell from his head. He laughed at the sight. "I've been over doing it even more recently." He coughed more. The blood pooling from his hand couldn't be contained. It pained his hand while dropping on the floor. More blood dripped form his forehead. His weak legs couldn't support him. It wasn't long before he fell. His mind was slowly losing consciousness. He could feel his body change. His legs growing longer making his normal uniform tighter. His hair grew longer and darker. Want was once blonde was now black with dark green stripes that could be mistaken as black. The only thing the same about him was his bright blue eyes. He laughed at himself. "I'm losing my touch. I could main that appearance for months now barely a week. Have I really grown this weak?"
It was then he raised something. He touched the sides of his blooded head trying to remember. But nothing came to mind.
"Who…who am I? What's my name?" He was trying to remember but it was all a bank. It made him hysteric. He clawed at his head in panicked pulling at the roots of his hair. "No no no no. I don't want to forget. No more forgetting. Not that. Him. What was it again? What was it?" The man groaned. Then he fished something hidden under his shirt. A golden heart shaped locket. It shined with such hope he had to touch it. "Saisho." He said lovingly. "You gave me so much. I refuse to lose any of it. The name you gave me. What was it again?"
"Arata" called a ghost from the past. He remembered that since so vividly. His kind voice. His soft smile. His memories of that man were greater than any treasure. Never will he forget him. The way he looked at him with those bight green eyes as he held out his hand. "You reacted to me. Do you like that name? It means fresh and new. I think it's very fitting. Don't you?"
"Yes," he answered even though no one was there to hear it. As he rose his body was put back into place. It shrunk to fit his clothes better. His hair was back to a shimmering gold. Sure, there was blood dripping from his hands, lips and head but that didn't stop him from smiling. He held on to his locket as his mind began to recuperate. Whenever he sees this locket, he always remembers. His treasured memories. "Don't worry. I'll stop him this time. No one else will die by his hands." The image of Izuku soon flashed in his mind. His eyes shaped with determination. "Especially that one. Although, it was once his future to face him things have changed. I will take his place. I won't let him die to that demon." He raised his blooded hand to the heaves. His face looked at peace while he held his locket close to his heart. "I'll be with you soon. So, wait a little longer."
You did your best, sensei. Really you did. But you should have known I would have been too nosy not to involve myself. Not after I dragged the truth out of you. That battle was just as much as mine as it was yours. Things may have been different than what you for saw, but that doesn't change the fact that it was my fight too. You don't get to completely decide what my path should be. I will make my own future.
AN: Ah…I will never be able to tell your complete story the way I originally wanted to will I Arata. This was not how I wanted to do it originally but oh well. I've squeezed in a piece for the sake of putting it out there. Probably not the best of ideas but this will be ending soon. I won't be continuing this AU so might as well.
Also, I know there first name as already been revealed as well as the other users. But this was created before that so I'm sticking to what I created. Even it If it is a mess. At least it will be over soon. Apologies if I sound negative, I'm just a little tired of this AU. The only thing motivating me at this point is my genuine interest to write this. As dwindling as that is. And the fact that I'm reaching a somewhat ending.
