Chapter 15: Upheaval

A/N: thanks for the chapter review sircus! I also found that strange Valyria and Westeros had never connected in canon before. I found an anecdote that the glass bulbs in the citadel of Oldtown were brought to Westeros 1000yrs before the Doom but that was it. I've tried to keep it close to canon and my only guess is after the Ghiscari wars the Valyrians wanted a period of peace. I think had the Doom not happened they would've eventually turned their sights to Westeros. And that could've taken the whole continent down a very different path! I appreciate the comment!

Mando'aMan1603 to answer your question these islands were created for this story. They are located close to the Summer Islands in the strait between the Summer Islands and Dorne. They rose from volcanic activity a few years before the start of this story so the land is young.

There is lots of interest in when Alaerya gets to Westeros...I'm currently writing that part now (I'm quite a bit ahead in the story). Moving to Valreos takes a little bit of time and we have the Doom coming as well. So rest assured Westeros is coming!

Alaerya and Aeyrelis started having private meetings to discuss logistics of moving to the islands. They met in her private work room where she enchanted the door to ripple when someone was standing outside the door. They would know if someone was eavesdropping or prying. She unrolled the map of Westeros and showed Aeyrelis, explaining about her dream and what she saw. Aeyrelis was astounded at the detail of what this boy had told her.

"Hold on are you sure this isn't a trap? We defeat one undead 'king' and all these lands lay open for taking? Forgive me wife but I'm sceptical of this boy you've been meeting"

"Good I like this scepticism I always know you'll tell me what you really think. I can take you into my dreams so you can meet him for yourself. There is something different about him, he's not emotional, he's detached almost cold. At the same time he is trying to save humanity. If what he says is true we could be doing all of this work and years down the line our descendants end up members of this undead army. I won't have that, we have to secure the future for our line"

"I love it when you become a warrior and want to take on the world for our family..."

"It's gotten us where we are today..."

He looked over the map, "So how did he mean the lands will be ready to be taken..."

"From what I could gather he meant the people would all be gone, either dead or escaped."

"And if they return will we have a problem?"

"This is what I found most interesting... these people don't really have magic. Nothing...the closest they had were these beings called 'children of the forest' but these people almost killed them all off"

He looked at her and raised his eyebrow, "And you want to invade and control people who kill off magical beings?"

"I think we can bring them under control, from what he said there wouldn't be many survivors and we would effectively be saving them. Which means they will see us differently, or we will make them see us differently"

Aeyrelis rubbed his chin mulling it over, "They will rise up against us eventually"

"Not if we are their saviours. Remember these people don't have magic how will they rebuild or eat? They will die without magic rebuilding their lands"

"If we don't go they'll die and we will too if this undead king invaded other territories"

"How would an undead king be able to do that?"

"If he manages to acquire a dragon its highly likely he will succeed. From what I've seen there will be a dragon under his control but it'll be undead and vulnerable. Until the time comes our new world will be hidden and warded from him noticing us"

"We will be hidden? How will we set up trade? We need an economy so people can eat"

"I think for a while we should remain hidden from the rest of the known world. While we are a new society I don't want attacks or outside challenges. It'll help us grow our society better, people will feel more secure and we need that. They are all going to be leaving their home here to relocate. Trade will be set up, I'm working on a plan for that now"

Aeyrelis sighed, "Do you think our allies will come?"

"Maybe if they see what's waiting for them...but I'm not so sure. I'm prepared for it to go either way. It'll sadden me if they stay but we can't force people to leave Valyria"

"Right, first lets focus on getting to the islands by beginning our relocation and we need to bring in the allied soon so they have a choice. Once Valyria is destroyed we will revisit our options. Find out more about this Westeros place and I want to meet that boy you spoke about".

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

Aeyrelions sword clashed against his betrothed, Krysaella as they sparred while their teachers shouted instructions. Their silvery hair spinning around the other, she laughed as they danced with their blades.

'She is so easy to love' he thought with a jump in his chest.

She somersaulted over him and he spun to meet her grinning at her show of skill.

"One day you'll make a fine warrior Krys" he teased.

"Ha I'll have a babe on the breast and still be able to beat you"

He raised his eyebrow in amusement and went on the attack. The thought of her with his child made him smile inside.

Their swords clashed and the sound of steel on steel rang through the training yard. They clashed and met in the middle determined eyes meeting each other. No matter how many times they played the game they always seemed evenly matched.

"Can't beat me Aeyrelion? Nothing has changed then?" she whispered breathlessly to him.

His face flushed and he went on a barrage of attacks trying to get past her flashing sword and laughing face so he could kiss her. And hold her close to him.

Suddenly he spun with intricate footwork and disarmed her, sword at her throat.

"Yield, yield...I yield to my future Lord husband" she said mockingly.

The laughter and mock fright was written across her face and he sheathed sword panting and smiled.

"I've been letting you win my Lady, it's rude to beat down your future wife"

He offered his hand and she took it to stand.

"We shall see about that tomorrow. I can learn the same footwork and fancy spins you know"

"Well I'll have to put you with a new teacher, maybe the twins teacher can help you"

"Haha ah so the only way to keep beating me is to stop me from getting better than you?"

She laughed still breathing heavy as she removed her armour and her teacher took it and began to clean. She assisted her teacher and he watched her for a time, even doing menial things he still loved her.

His mind remembered when his heart first felt the flush of love. His mother had encouraged him to spend time with her, he sought her out in her new chambers to request she join him for tea and Valyrian card games. He entered her room with his personal guard and was awe struck by what he saw. Her terrace had completely transformed with hanging vines and flowers that smelled sweet on the breeze. It was so beautiful, he walked through the hanging plants to find her sitting looking out over Valyria. She was surrounded by an enchanted flock of butterflies dancing around her silvery head. He had instantly felt attracted to her and when he spent more time with her he realised she was beautiful inside as well as out. And being from one of the top families apart from being talented with magic she was very very competitive. He loved that about her.

The love between them was based on a deep friendship and respect. She loved his fighting skills and love of battle strategy and he loved her gentle nature and skill with earth magic. Her family were Masters of Earth magic, they controlled the food production chain of Valyria. They had amassed large portions of land and used magic to grow crops and livestock. Their responsibilities were to supply all of Valyria with food and the hunting fields for the dragons as well. Their talents along with their business sense made them one of the richest and most powerful families in Valyria. And the match of Krysaella and Aeyrelion had made sense from a business sense for the Valreon family. Aligning with strength had been smart for their first born.

Aeyrelion had fallen in love easily with her kind hearted nature and she had quickly taken on the role of mother to the other wards and his siblings. Alaerya had watched her and knew she would one day make a gracious and fair leader alongside her son. Aeyrelis was proud his wife's match for his son was unfolding so well.

The two young lovers exited the training room holding hands, they each felt the electric feeling between them.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

Following the meeting with the remaining nobility the Valreons had received countless offers of fealty and support. She had known the families would fall over themselves to align with them. Alaerya sat at her workbench dressed in a light white gown, hair cascading over her shoulders and down her back.

'Too little too late' she thought, 'They weren't our friends before nothing has changed from our side'

She flicked through the letters and messages her staff had brought them and was amused by the false words of these people.

'House Jaeryell, Maerya Targaryen's family pledging resources and support in times of need. Shame her brother is such an ill minded man full of desire and dark magic.'

She put their fealty in the purple flames, it disintegrated into dust.

'House Vrellaera, used to be a great house. Then the old master lost most of their wealth in gambling and sold their assets. They're now the weakest house of all, no dragons and no money' she burned their pledge of fealty and continued through the others. There were dozens, some she kept aside to re read later and consider aligning based on their magical talent and businesses.

She would tell Aeyrelis and he would be amused some of these people had even bothered to put quill to scroll. She felt bad inside that she was ultimately leaving these people to burn in the destruction to come. But they all had weakness through their family lines, they had crumbled over adversity and become a pack of self serving power hungry families. Who all had nothing to offer anyone, so they spent their time squabbling with one another instead of attempting to regain some of the power they used to have. While some of the others had promising talents and businesses that could be useful, she kept the useful scrolls and burned the rest. Majority of the scrolls became dust in her flames.

As quick as she felt bad, when she remembered their histories, her heart hardened and she knew she had made the right choices and felt it was time to discuss the future with their wards and families.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

All the Valreon children and wards gathered around the large banquet table which was now the only room and table they could comfortably be seated at. Over the previous months as much as they were able to Alaerya and Aeyrelis had dinner with them all and spent time getting to know them.

So it wasn't unusual that they were with them this evening. The room was full of laughter and the ornate chandeliers shone magic light all through the room reflecting off the murals of Valyria.

Aeyrelis stood up, "Children we have something Alaerya and I want to talk about with you and it must not leave this room"

The last servant had left the room and Alaerya had cast a shield spell over the room for privacy.

They all quietened down and listened intently.

"We take our role as your guardians and protectors very seriously. Your well-being is the most important thing not just for relations with your families but the legacy and continuation of our House which is very important in Valyria. We have become aware of a danger facing Valyria which could put all our lives in danger. So we have begun making arrangements to leave the Valyrian Freehold for a time until we know how the future unfolds."

The children all stirred uncomfortably unsure of what was coming next.

"Is this to do with the Targaryen prophecy?" Spoke a quiet boy, Vyrion, who is betrothed to Rhaellyra.

Alaerya nodded, "Yes it does. In fact many years ago the first ever prophecy recorded on this event was recorded by me. When I was a student of the Mysteries at the Temple of Dreamwalkers. Since then more have been recorded in alarming detail and we have reason to think the event is approaching."

Everyone looked uneasy and the room was silent.

"What about our families?" Whispered Krysaella who was to Alaerya's side.

"Your families are our families too. We will extend an offer of sanctuary to all who wish to take it. We are just unsure how many will be willing as we are asking them to leave their homes, bring their valuables and possibly never return. And as many of you learning about the Dreamwalker temple in class now, these prophecies can shift and change as people make choices that pull them in different directions. But...I've also seen these events in the fire. And that is another matter all together, for Fire is linked to the physical realm unlike the dream state. I've seen the same images in the flames, this event will occur at some point in the future"

Aeyrelion looked perplexed, "Where will we go and live? We have no homes to go to and leave ourselves vulnerable to losing everything if this prophecy doesn't come to pass"

"You're right son, we are vulnerable if we leave but we have been working for a while now to make sure our family is in the strongest position possible regardless of the outcome."

"How long is a while father?"

"A few years now" answered Aeyrelis.

"Years?" Aeyrelion said incredulously, "you've known for years and have only just told us now?"

"We wanted to make sure the events in these prophecies were properly looked into and our options were clear" explained Aeyrelis.

"We already have somewhere to go" said Alaerya, "everything is in place for a transition and will be more than enough for everyone. Including your families and others."

"Where?" said Krysaella

Alaerya summoned the orb and it opened its contents for the children showing them the detail of the islands and the splendour of the cities built on the islands. The schools, fields, temples, homes, dragon hatchery and the opportunities there.

"Is this place real?" said Allaria after the orb disappeared into Alaerya's robes.

Aeyrelis nodded, "We have found and built up these islands for relocation. We want your families to come and have a plan for transition that we plan to show your families soon. We wanted to tell you first to hear your thoughts and talk about it as a family."

The children looked at each other, and then looked down.

"No matter what we say we are going anyway" said Aeyrelion, "you've already decided we will go"

"Well yes but we would rather you be willing to go than to resist the whole way. We might have already made the decision but we don't want you to have doubts"

Rhaellyra looked at her parents, "I trust you. I'll willingly go"

Vyrion her betrothed also spoke, "I follow Rhae so I will willingly go. You've cared for us better than any of us imagined. I know you wouldn't have made this choice easily."

"It's not an easy decision everyone. We leave behind everything we have known since we were born too. But what we have waiting for us is special and we are confident it will benefit us all in the years to come. It's not just about survival it's about success, for our families and for us"

Slowly the rest of the children came to terms and agreed with the decision, some even looked excited.

Rhaexor, betrothed to Allaria spoke next "Our families will be hard to convince, they will need time to decide and begin preparing. Obviously you want to avoid detection, how are you going to do that?"

Aeyrelis smiled he enjoyed this young boys intelligence, "We have decided to discuss this with the families together rather than telling them what to do. That's what good allies do"

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

The families arrived promptly following the messages being sent out a meeting was being held. The Valreons stood at the front with their children and wards.

Alaerya felt sick in her stomach, she had grown to care for the other families and was worried this was going to go badly. She had not been able to see the outcome in her flames meaning the meeting would be a cross roads with no guarantee of success or failure.

Aeyrelis stood, "Allies, friends, elite of Valyria. We called you here to discuss a serious matter at hand. I'm sure you all remember the Targaryen prophecy that caused a family to leave the Freehold and divided opinions on the truth of such a vision."

The families stared at him, poignantly silent on the matter.

"There have been more of these prophecies recorded...all the same as the one we saw in the Great Hall. When we took on your wards we pledged to put their safety and well-being at the same level as our own children. We feel as a family the events are becoming concerning and want to evacuate the Freehold until we know what is to unfold"

Several members of the alliance cried out in outrage, the thought of their children being taken away. Several of them standing in anger.

Aeyrelis held up his hand, Alaerya felt the rumble beneath her feet of discontent. It felt strong, she felt sick in her stomach again.

"Let me finish everyone. We consider you all not just allies, and friends but family. We are and will be linked through our children. We want to extend the offer of sanctuary to every family in this room until we know how this event unfolds."

There was a violent crash and everyone in the room looked startled, Alaerya sat up bolt upright. No one in the room was working magic, the room jolted again. She stood up and looked around as the building shook violently.

She threw a protective shield over the room and the buildings of the families present in the room.

Just as she finished the wards of security and stability on the buildings the whole building shook violently as the sound of roaring fury filled their ears. Everyone in the room fell to the floor with their hands over their ears as the earth shook violently.

They were thrown around the room but no one was hurt due to Alaerya's magic. It felt like it would never end and Alaerya felt the fear rising in the room. The roaring and crashing made their heads ring and hurt, the physical sensation was terrifying of the earth crashing under them.

It felt like hours until the violence ended, everything was dark, the air dusty. The magic that lit up the rooms had been damaged by the disruption to the energy field it runs on. Alaerya conjured multiple balls of light to illuminate the room, people were laying still from shock, some groaning in pain.

The families were all in shock and covered in dust, some were convinced the Valreons has done this on purpose. Others convinced them it was not the case at all. For the longest time the room was chaos, people shouting accusations and cradling injuries, children crying from fear. Aeyrelis spoke calmly to the allies most outraged and managed to convince them this was no trick while Alaerya was healing the injured. Thankfully she had acted quickly and the injuries were minor, even she was shaken up at the violence of this event.

"Everyone stay here, I'm going to check on the damage outside this room and to make sure we can get out safely." Said Aeyrelis as he addressed the room once order was restored.

One family was whispering furiously amongst themselves, "what is wrong?" said Alaerya sternly

The Master of the House, Aery flushed with embarrassment, "This was the second earthquake the red woman spoke about, wasn't it?" he said quietly to Alaerya.

Alaerya was shocked someone had remembered that woman she intensely disliked.

"It seems to be, but let us confirm the safety of our building and move from there. I conjured shields of magic around your houses but I can't guarantee damage didn't occur before that. Please be careful when you return home"

Aeyrelis looked at Aeyrelion and Krysaella, "Both of you keep everyone her calm and give help to those who need it. This is a good time to learn how to care for those allied to you in times of need. One day you'll be the leaders of this House"

He exited the room with Alaerya behind and the young couple watched them leave. They sprung into action once they left, going to families together one by one and tending wounds. Alaerya had found a medicinal herb kit in the room, the young couple gave strengthening and calming potions for shock and pain. They worked together to bandage up the injured and comforted the people in the worst shock. A natural event like this had never occurred on this magnitude before and had shaken up many people.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

Alaerya and Aeyrelis picked their way through their grand home, her magic had stopped the worst of it but there was still damage.

"Where do we go first?" said Alaerya

"Let's see what the damage is around us first"

They looked out from the dragon dome in shock, much of Valyria lay in ruins, numerous domes of lesser families had disappeared. Many other buildings of business, some temples and government laid in ruins. The buildings of Valyria were built using magic, and not weak magic either. The fact much of the city was ruined showed how strong and violent this eruption had been.

Alaerya wondered if any had been able to escape from the destroyed houses of nobility, the sky was littered with dragons who had escaped the destruction by taking flight. She saw some had riders on them and some didn't.

The sky was darkened by their wings making the city look plunged into premature darkness. Surveying the city the domes of the families present still stood, some sustained damage but nothing major.

They turned to one another, "you saved their homes you know" Aeyrelis said quietly, "if they had crumbled they would've lost everything included access to their vaults"

Alaerya felt sad inside as she knew many had lost their lives today and if she hadn't been fast some of her friends might have perished also.

"Right now we know the extent of the damage elsewhere let's check things here"

They turned away from the sight of Valyria in ruins and chaos and secured their home. There was damage and death. Some of the lower levels closer to the worst of the earthquake were severely damaged and they had lost many servants. Some of their trusted ones had survived due to being up higher but others had perished. She wept internally for them because even though they were really just slaves they were in her home and had become important to her. The magic in the core of her house and the protective shields kept their House from sustaining serious damage. Alaerya knew if she hadn't been quicker things could've been worse, and knew if this was a bad earthquake the people left behind when the destruction happens have no chance to survive.

All the children's chambers were unharmed, and the vaults needed clearing to be accessed again. Majority of their contents had already been relocated, and the library sustained damage also but was easily fixed. Thankfully Alaerya had moved the most important texts and nothing valuable was damaged beyond repair. The classes being held in their House had also been safe, no children were harmed but they were all in great amounts of shock. They took time to administer healing and potions to the children. Most of them fell into deep sleep to recover from the shock. It took several hours to conduct repairs and heal the injured, and Alaerya sent food and drinks to their allies recovering upstairs.

Once the structure of their building had been deemed stable once again, they returned exhausted to their children and allies.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

The younger children had been shaken by the events and had sought comfort from their families. Many slept after the exhaustion of the shock knowing they were safe. The adults were relieved when food and drink arrived as well as news their homes still stood. The stress melted from their shoulders and as the women comforted the children the men gathered to talk in lowered voices. Aeyrelion walked through the room checking people were recovered from the shock. The healing potions had made many people sleep to recover. He was interested in how the potions affected different people. He made a note to ask his potions and healing teacher about this effect. He noticed the head of the houses talking together and looking around at him. They beckoned him over, he strode over to them looking more confident than he felt.

"What do you know of your fathers plans?" they questioned him directly.

"I am not aware of specifics but my parents have an offer they want to extend to you. An offer of sanctuary I believe"

The men all looked at each other with charged looks and he felt uneasy. They didn't look pleased.

"If we leave we could be attacked by the surviving houses wanting to elevate their position" whispered Kaeryon fiercely to the group.

Aeyrelion shook his head, "I don't know how many lesser houses have survived...the message from father was several domes has crumbled."

"Valyria is weakened at the moment this could be the right time..." said Rhaegon thoughtfully.

"And what happens if this destruction doesn't happen? We all just sail back to Valyria and pretend we never left? In the meantime the Governors can seize our houses and put others in power" contributed Aery.

They all looked to Aeyrelion, he was the House Valreon representative.

"Today is not the day for this discussion, you all need to secure your homes and fix any damage. We will continue this discussion another time and my parents can show you their plans. They have much to show and discuss with you"

They looked at him wanting more of an explanation, he sighed "I will tell you they have somewhere for us to go. Somewhere you will retain your status and can store your wealth. You really have nothing to lose even if you come back here you can seize your power back regardless. We should listen to them and keep an open mind"

The men all relaxed and looked slightly at ease, at that moment the door opened and his parents entered. They looked exhausted, the whole room looked expectantly at them.

"Reports are something detonated a volcanic eruption in the North of Valyria, this in turn caused violent earthquakes here in the South. The city has sustained much damage, your houses all stand thanks to Alaerya's quick thinking," many murmured thanks, "however several lesser houses have lost their homes and possibly their lives. We are unsure of that. We have managed to secure this building, you're all safe to leave now, your dragons are waiting in the dome. As for today's discussion we will adjourn the meeting and return when your Houses are in order."

The families gathered themselves and with the help of the Valreons and their wards began to filter out and return to their homes.

Many had minor damage some more major, lives lost in their homes was minimal and by the end of the week had been repaired. The Valreons and their allies were the only houses in full repair at the end of the week, the families whose Houses sustained more serious damage needed help from those stronger in magic. This took time due to the extent of the damage to the city, the higher families all lent their talents to help the others repair. Several families were completely wiped out as their structures were not built from the purest magic and none survived except any that happened to be in class at House Valreon. These were families without strong magic, and only a handful were dragon riders. The lower nobility were shaken and devastated some had lost friends while others were hoping their own families would be elevated. Alaerya watched all of this unfold in the afternath.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

"You cannot think we will stand by and let you do this?!" the furious priestess raged, "How many Valyrians lost their lives today due to your experiments?"

Her anger was directed at a small group of the Council of Flames, they did not look bothered by her wrath.

"Those who died Lady Vhaerya were not strong in magic anyway. They will not be missed and others with magic will simply take their place" drawled a rather arrogant young priest, "We will wield this magic in a short amount of time and we will all benefit from it. And so will your families, so we lose people along the way? Will we remember them when Valyria is the greatest force in the world? We can take it all..." his last words not even attempting to hide the greed and ambition he felt. He was the leader of a small faction of Flame council who agreed this ancient flame energy needed to be awakened. It was a wild and problematic power to wield, it did not obey and it refused to be controlled. It was almost as if it was its own entity who wanted to control them, Vhaerya and her sister did not feel this was the direction they should be going. Several others felt the same, it caused a major rift in the Council of Flames.

"You could destroy us all..." spoke up an elderly male Priest, "You have all come into this council with self serving desires and made yourselves prime targets for this energy to recruit. How you can't see it is worrisome. We older members know of this flame energy, yet none of us have dabbled in it. We are strong enough to see we as a race aren't ready to wield it. We can and already are doing great things without it, why risk our entire existence on something that can quickly turn into the master of us? This entity will never rest, never be satisfied until everything is owned by the flames. It's our job to tame and work with the flames not be tamed and work for the flames" he emphasised the last words. Hoping to sway them into ceasing this endless quest for power.

The younger man laughed harshly, "You are just too weak to..."

He didn't get to finish as the elder razed a blinding and painful flame energy on the younger council members in support of using this magic.

"Do not call those wiser than you weak, boy. You think you have mastered a mystery and are entitled to take over the world? You haven't even begun to live. You haven't seen the horrors of the world and you will seek to open the gates to one of the worst horrors. It's not only our job to master the flame it's our responsibility to control the shadow side of the flame also. And you want to release the shadow and wield it to grow your own power. You will all die if you continue this quest"

The younger members were quiet but he could tell it was too late, they all had already bought into the lie of glory and power. It had infected them and twisted them from a path that was salvageable. He felt sad as these were young people he had himself trained and guided, he felt responsible for the path they had chosen.

Alaerya's mother put her hand on his shoulder and he stepped back.

"Children of the Flames"...she started.

The leader of the opposition lifted his head, his face angry and contorted with rage, his eyes burning unearthly red. The desire has twisted and poisoned him the worst, it owned him now.

"We are not children any more old woman. When the flames rise in our hands we will end any who oppose us!"

The temple was evenly divided into followers and their opposition, the elders looked sadly at the young people twisted and tainted with hunger for power. The Temple was still rocking periodically from the aftershocks of the earthquake and now the rising power of the ancient flame magic had made the foundations unstable.

"Suit yourselves, raise the power you seek. It will be the last thing you do"

And the elders swept from the Temple as the younger members laughed at their retreat.

Vhaerya was exhausted from trying to reach their former students, her sisters face looked tight with grief she was trying to hold in. As they exited the temple they looked back at it and then at each other. They walked back to their family dome together.

"What next sister?"

"You will follow your daughter, I will stay and do everything in my power to stop those ungrateful monsters"

"You've seen the end haven't you?"

"Yes I've seen my demise and I will take them all with me. In their stupidity they never thought to seek counsel on who has wielded that power before. Long ago I sought to awaken it myself, I learned how to work with it and I managed to tame it or so I was fooled into thinking. Very soon I realised its desires, for pain, for conquest and for death, would be never ending. I wielded it thinking righteously we could rule and subjugate everything. But what happens when there's nothing left to conquer? The flames will destroy you because it's done with you...I tricked it into being hidden away and thought it would stay buried under the wards I had placed. But it found a way to seep into the mind of another who's desire for power was greater than my own. And now I will take the power from that little shit and burn them all"

The sisters walked in silence, they knew this needed to be done.

"And besides" Vhaerya continued, "you can't rebuild with Alaerya while I'm around. Our relationship and closeness always bothered you. Don't even try to say otherwise I see into your heart sister, don't deny it. You will rebuild with her and you'll take our practices with you. Some of the other elders will join you..."

"To tell the truth sister I'm scared to leave. What if this new civilisation fails? What then? We have nowhere to go"

Vhaerya laughed loudly, "Failure isn't an option, especially not with your daughter at the helm. Trust her, she's on the right path".
