Chapter 18: The Dream Walker

Allaria Valreon the youngest daughter in the family of Alaerya and Aeyrelis. She had craved their mothers presence her whole life and felt saddened she didn't have more interactions with her. She loved her mother immensely and wanted to be just like her, everything she achieved seemed amazing to her. And some of her teachers had commented that she reminds them of her mother at her age. This made Allaria swell with pride, she knew her mother was the most powerful woman in Valyria and aspired to grow into a version of her. When she was betrothed she felt a range of emotions she didn't understand, as Allaria day across from her betrothed she remembered the conversation she had with her mother.

"What is betrothed mother?" She inquired

"It's an arrangement of marriage between two people, usually organised by their parents or guardians when they're a child"

"Why can't we choose who we marry? Does anyone do that?"

She remembered her mother's sad smile, "Not in our society my Love. The families in the lower rankings can choose who they marry but unfortunately it seems people don't always choose what's best for their future or their family"

Allaria had thought about this hard, 'what makes someone else's choices better than my own?'

But she had been too worried to speak this to her mother. She didn't realise the full extent of her mother's magic and that she can read minds anyway. Otherwise she probably would've just said it.

"Your betrothed is a very nice and talented young man, I believe you know him already..."

"Yes I know him already"

"And is there a problem with this boy? As I haven't been able to find one. I've noticed he seems to enjoy your company"

Allaria blushed, she enjoyed his company too and felt embarrassed her mother seemed to know.

"I just want to understand why you chose him for me, and then I'll accept it"

She had seen a moment of shock mixed with pride at this request from a child on her mother's face.

"I respect you wanting to know my reasons so I'll tell you," started her mother as she sat on the bed next to her daughter, "Rhaexor is gifted with some powerful talents he hasn't been taught to awaken yet. He is gifted with dragons, a strong and capable fighter with some good battle strategies, his family previously had skills with water and he can wield and produce magical artifacts. It is also a bonus to me that he is gentle, kind hearted and has a degree of love in his heart for you already"

Allaria had blushed even deeper hearing this from her mother and felt exhilarated Rhaexors feelings for her had been confirmed.

Allaria returned to the present moment and sighed at the thought of the memories, she missed her mother when she left their house to visit the islands.

Rhaexor looked up from his book and smiled, "Something on your mind?" he questioned gently.

She blushed a little at his look, "I'm thinking about a lot of things. I'm also tired of studying for now."

She put down her books and went to her windows, they had been studying for exams seperately, but her mind had wandered.

He continued reading and writing as she looked out over Valyria. The idea of leaving was surreal to her, she had only known this place and it's sights. Allaria felt sad to leave and go into the unknown.

"I can feel you and you're not happy" he said simply from his books without looking up.

She knew his magic could reach into her and see everything, she had wanted to stay guarded to him but they had become very close. This made guarding her thoughts much more difficult, it perplexed her knowing she couldn't hide herself.

"I'm not sure I want to leave when you go with your family" muttered Allaria, still looking out over the city.

He looked up from his work, "I have been waiting for you to say this. I've felt you wrangling with leaving for days". Rhaexor closes his books and goes to stand behind Allaria.

He grabbed her hand, "What's wrong Allaria? Have I done something to upset you?"

"No it's nothing any one has done. I just want to stay here until my parents leave. I want as long as possible here before I have so say goodbye"

"You don't want to say goodbye at all..."

"No I don't, I don't want to leave. But I know better than to think I'd be allowed to stay considering the prophecy and obviously my parents wouldn't leave me behind so..."

He watched her intently, "You're unsure of more than just Valyria I know it"

She flushed and looked at him angrily, "If you know what I'm feeling then just go ahead and say it"

"You don't want to be betrothed, in fact you don't want to be married at all. To anyone"

It hit her hard in the chest his last words as she had never uttered her feelings to anyone. Allaria had at first been on board with the marriage alliance but as time went on she doubted the choice, and the rebellious feeling of wanting to be free had taken over.

"What is it that you don't like about this?" questioned Rhaexor.

She groaned in annoyance, flustered at the questions she didn't want to answer and remained silent pacing the room angrily.

"Tell me Allaria I want to hear you say it" he continued calmly.

Allaria turned on him, "I don't want to be a wife and I don't want children! So what use am I for a marriage pact?"

"Where is this coming from? You've never had a problem before?"

"I just..."she felt her anger building, but it was mostly confusion about her feelings, "you don't understand!"

Furious and embarrassed she stormed from the room, slamming the door and walked the halls of her great House seething.

Angry at her parents, angry at her betrothed for being nice to her and angry that her mother had these visions of Valyrias downfall. She wandered for a short time and found herself heading towards the dragon dome to ride her dragon Ashaera. When she entered the dome she found her father sitting and calmly sipping a drink. Aeyrelis looked up and smiled at her, "Ah good you're here. I've been waiting for you. Come sit child"

She was shocked, he was waiting for her? How could he have known what happened with Rhaexor and her confusing feelings swirling around within?

How could he know what was in her heart, he didn't have the same magic as her mother.

Allaria stomped angrily over to him and looked at him in anger, "I'm not leaving with Rhaexor and his family. I won't go..."

"No you'll stay here until your mother and I leave. The others can go ahead" says Aeyrelis casually watching the smaller dragons who remained behind for the meantime playing.

Allaria looks deflated but her cheeks are still flushed with anger, she sits across from her father feeling more confused than ever.

"I remember how I felt when I was betrothed to your mother. We were friends but I wanted other things in my youth. I wanted adventure, fun and to fight. I did not want a family and responsibilities," he looked at his daughter, "I never wanted to father children. I never wanted any of this-"

They look around the dome, "Being betrothed to your mother changed my life in ways I couldn't have possibly seen. Not even with the magic we wield together. For a long time I hated my parents for it, and that was before I knew it had been organised while we were only a few hours old. I also tried to hate your mother for it, I pushed her away a few times and tried to be someone I'm not. An angry, impulsive and rash person took over and I tried to do things that would revoke the betrothal" he laughed at his memories.

"Allaria listen, in another time you wouldn't be betrothed and living together this early. I would've allowed you all to wait and things would be different, it would've developed naturally. But this is the way it is because very soon you'll need to be a leader of this house. You need a strong match to help you become a leader and you'll be more than just a wife and mother. That's what we wanted for all of you"

"What do you mean I'll be more than these things? That's all I'll be, the wife of some Valyrian lord once I become Allaria Xaeryris"

He took a long sip of his drink, "No that's not what you'll be. You'll be a Lady of House Xaeryris yes. But you and Rhaexor will be equal rulers of your own lands, in fact you'll have more power than he does because you're a Valreon born and Valreos is where we will be living."

Allaria didn't understand and he could see the confusion across her face, "So I will be more than just a wife?"

"Did you really think we would just give away any of our children to just become someone's pretty face?" asked Aeyrelis with irritation, "You should know we would never want to do that. We have gained so much together your mother and I, we would never just marry off our children to become someone else's trophy. You will rule alongside him and be a figurehead of your House. Do not disappoint us"

Aeyrelis finished his drink and left her to her thoughts, hoping he hadn't come across too harsh to her.

After her father left Allaria sat with her thoughts and watched their remaining dragons circling the dome. She knew she needed to make an apology and she knew deep in her heart her outburst was the result of fear of the unknown.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

Rhaexor truly loved Allaria, he had since they were children. Everytime he saw her as a child he tried to charm her and make her smile. His parents were happy with their match as it elevated their social standing and was what Rhaexor wanted. After Allaria had stormed out he sat for a short time wondering if his feelings were reciprocated. Worried slightly about their future, he thought about how things had been when he came to stay as a ward. He'd been made to feel welcome by her parents, they genuinely cared for him and all the children and wards became friends. Allaria was always shy but she seemed to gravitate towards him and had even made the first move once and kissed him. Rhaexor had been giving her space to come to him and she had on her own. He realised she did have feelings for him, he could see into her and recognised confusion and fear about leaving Valyria. He let her blow off steam and resumed his studying, his father had told him one day he would rule his own lands alongside Allaria. So he attempted to learn as much as he could to be the best for his family name. He knew their standing had been risen due to the betrothal, and he didn't want to disappoint.

A while later he heard the door softly open and knew it was her returning, glancing up at her she looked apologetic. He was amused inside but continued studying, waiting for her to speak.

"Rhaexor, i..." she started, "I'm really sorry for before. There is so much going on around here at the moment, my whole life is being changed. The House is full of enchanted furniture, none of the books are real either, I feel like my world is crumbling and I can't cope"

She walked closer when he didn't reply or look up, inside he knew she was being honest but didn't want to interrupt if she had any more to say.

"I didn't mean to be hurtful. Especially not to you, I really care..." she hesitated and continued quietly, "I do love you. I'm just so..."

Rhaexor looked up at her sad face and gently grabbed her hand. At his touch her heart lurched and she felt relief flood through her. This was the last person she wanted to push away but he was also the one person she felt comfortable venting her true feelings to. It had just exploded out of her unintentionally.

"Are you angry with me?" she said timidly.

Kissing her hand Rhaexor gently pulled her to sit on him hugging her close, "Dont ever feel like you're not able to talk to me about how you feel. We are going to be equal rulers according to our parents, you'll always be treated well by me. When have I ever treated you otherwise?"

Allaria looked down, ashamed, "Youve always only ever been nice to me. I feel like such an idiot..."

He traced his hand along her face and turned her to him, he kissed her gently at first and she returned it with more passion than he was expecting. They shared their first real intimate kiss as a young couple, holding her close to him they both felt a surge of power between them. They broke away and he held her close, Allaria rested her head on his shoulder.

"You've never told me you loved me before" Rhaexor said quietly as he held her to him.

She pulled back and looked into his eyes, "I was telling the truth, I do love you and I have loved you for a long time"

He looked deep into her eyes and knew she was telling the truth, "I've loved you since the first time I saw you, I believe I've loved you longer"

She smiled playfully, "Oh really?"

"Yes, you didn't even know who I was and I loved you. So promise me one thing," she looked at him seriously, "don't push me away Allaria. I would do anything for you"

She kissed him again, wrapping her arms around his neck and feeling his strong arms embrace her.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

The heat on Allaria's skin was unbearable and all around her the ground heaved and rolled like it was made from liquid not earth. She saw whole families swallowed up into the chasms that opened at the feet. The sky was raining ashes and those that escaped the shifting earth were crushed by dragons falling dead from the sky. She turned and saw the main volcano, the source of Valyrian magic and trade, spewing endless streams of fire, debris and smoke into the air. She watched as Valyria crumbled, the houses of nobility falling, screams of the dying barely audible over the deafening sounds of a city dying. Then she saw it, towering and inescapable, the tidal wave gathered in height and unleashed deathly waves over her home. She was swept away by the waves feeling something crashing into her head with searing pain as she woke panting and traumatised from her dream walking.

Allaria caught her breath and looked around her room, her head stinging from the powerful activation of her abilities. instantly she realised she couldn't hide this when her servants were there watching her wake with her father.

Aeyrelis sat by her on the bed as she became overwhelmed with emotions of what she saw, her body heaving in powerful sobs. A few moments later her closest servants began rubbing her shaking body with oils and she was given a soothing tea to drink.

Allaria started to speak but Aeyrelis stopped her, "we were prepared for this, rest now we will talk tomorrow and help you understand this"

Sitting back, grateful she didn't need to speak Allaria gingerly finished her tea. After everyone had left, she slipped into a deep sleep with no dreams.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

Rhaexor wanted to go see Allaria as soon as Aeyrelis told them all what happened the next day at breakfast. He felt a sense of urgency and panic for her.

"Alaerya will return today and we will begin preparations to leave. We have time to get everyone and their families there on the rough timeline we are following. Thankfully relocation has already begun."

Rhaexor asked to be excused to leave, Aeyrelis nodded and watched him leaving the room.

"You train with me today Rhaexor" called out Aeyrelis to Rhaexor. He turned around looking flushed, and annoyed.

"I was hoping to see..."

"I know but she's still recovering. You'll see her tonight"

He didn't like not seeing her but he knew he couldn't argue with her Father.

"I'll go get ready to train then, sir" replied Rhaexor curtly.

Aeyrelis finished eating as Rhaexor left the room, he smiled at the remaining children and continued discussing their departure.

Rhaexor stormed to his room, and gathered his thoughts. 'Stop being a fool' he thought to himself, 'Be a leader and be strong. She is strong and will be fine'

He calmed his anger while the words of his father echoed through his mind, 'Son this is our chance to be great, be patient and do the right thing'. Now was not the time to be impatient and impulsive, he thought of Allaria and he felt her recognise his energy.

He sent love to her and received it back, he felt calmed that if she can reciprocate he trusted she was recovering well.

Rhaexor still flustered, put on his training armour and met Aeyrelis in the dragon dome, when he entered Aeyrelis was practicing drills.

Aeyrelis was impressive at his jumping and fighting skills off the ground, it was almost like he could move in slow motion and almost floated more than once. Sporadically Rhaexor saw flashes of energy coming off Aeyrelis like balls of air, this intrigued him seeing him fighting with magic. He had remembered the particularly brutal way the Valreons had dealt with their enemies recently. They hadn't used magic then and he was curious why when they obviously could overpower any opponent.

Aeyrelis finished and saw Rhaexor waiting, "I'm glad to see you are not so angry with me anymore" said Aeyrelis while taking a rest from his gruelling training.

"Im sorry..." Rhaexor began.

"Let me give you two pieces of advice for being part of my family," Aeyrelis interrupted, "speak your mind and don't hold grudges. Honesty leads to discusssion, resentment leads to war. We will not tolerate resentment and war in our homes, Valyria has been weakened enough by stupidity. Let's not make it worse."

Rhaexor looked at his future father in law tentatively, he had stripped down from being lathered in sweat. His body sculpted and muscly had surprised Rhaexor as he had never seen Aeyrelis train before today.

"And to answer your thoughts, yes Allaria is recovering well, you can see her after we train and to answer your other question yes I train. Every day. Which is not easy with my bloody schedule but I feel better for it. And my wife will be pleased with the results"

"Sir can I ask you a question?"

"It's Aeyrelis and yes ask away"

"I wanted to ask why you don't always fight with magic. Alaerya also. I was watching you fight, you and Alaerya could overcome anyone with the way you wield your powers"

Aeyrelis looked at him pointedly, "It's important to know when to use your talents and when to conceal them. It's also important to know when it's important that the fight is fair. Recent events have required us to fight evenly with our challengers. If we always use our magic the playing field is not fair or even, people will say we had an advantage and that our house is nothing without our magic. We need to be seen as strong and balanced with magic and physical talent. Both are important. When you rule your own house remember these words."

"Those Houses never stood a chance they always would've risen up against you" offered Rhaexor as he followed Aeyrelis.

"We suspected the same but couldn't act until they made a move. Which they did and look where they are now"

Rhaexor looked around the dragon dome in memory of the lives that had been extinguished and two family lines vanished from Valyria.

"Does it bother you what happened?" Questioned Aeyrelis looking seriously at Rhaexor.

"Not in the slightest, those families were never known for anything good. I did question at the time saving the children. I know it sounds ruthless but wouldn't the entire family face punishment usually?"

"In the past families would've have chosen to kill children for different purposes. To keep the adults in line and prevent further challenges, or they killed whole families and left others to keep them in line also. The point is Alaerya didn't want to kill those children, and I can only say when you become a parent you'll understand why."

"How do you know these children won't rise up against you one day?"

"We don't know what the future holds with everything we face. However Alaerya did seek counsel on this matter and was advised to spare the children. She has people she trusts to give her advice and she followed it after checking into it herself"

"She seeks advice?" asked Rhaexor stunned such a powerful Valyrian seeks guidance, it was unheard of in Valyria.

"All wise people seek counsel on difficult decisions my son. Another important lesson, you are never all seeing, or all powerful, sometimes you need to seek advice and may need to heed that advice. We have a powerful woman in our family so we can explore multiple pathways to see where it'll lead us. From there we do the best we can to make the right decisions, and we both agreed killing those children was a waste of life"

Rhaexor adjusted his training armour as he thought over those words, "What is our next move then Aeyrelis? Now that Allaria is dream walking?"

"Well first we need to make sure she is strong enough and has the right guidance in place, and then we leave. I've sent word to the remaining families to meet here this evening for a meeting. We will discuss it together and move from there"

"You know your family is still really in charge, even though you like to do everything with your allies. They still look to you"

"You're very observant for a young man."

"I was always taught to look at more than just what happens in front of me. That way you can't be shocked by another's actions" said Rhaexor as he drew his sword and began his drills.

"That's a good lesson. But remember people look to us because we started this path and we have an idea of the timeline we are working on. It doesn't mean we don't listen to and value what others have to say though. And there is always someone who leads the group, over time that might change. Now enough talk, you came here to train. Let's get you training"

Aeyrelis took Rhaexor through some training drills and coached him where he can use basic magic to enhance the power behind his kicks and strikes. When satisfied Aeyrelis stopped.

"That's enough for today, you have good footwork and an eye for strategy. I'd like to train more with you if that's what you want"

Rhaexor catching his breath simply nodded in agreement, Aeyrelis slapped his shoulder and signalled for some servants to come and clean their armour.

"Leave the armour son, lets go see Allaria"

Rhaexor's heart dropped at the sound of her name and Aeyrelis laughed.

"To be young again" Aeyrelis smiled at the young man.

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

Alaerya had been busy since setting foot on Valreos, she had been helping families settle into their new homes, meeting with Jaehserys to discuss final building plans for some gardens and temples and settling the young dragons and the eggs in the hatchery. She would sink into bed every night exhausted after feeling pulled in many directions through the days. She relaxed into sleep and felt overjoyed to see her husband waiting for her in her dreams. She ran to him and they hugged, light shining from their embrace.

It really was him she could feel it and she took a moment to take in just being with him.

"You need to return home my Love, the dream walking has begun" said Aeyrelis softly.

Her heart sunk, even though she knew it was coming, she would always feel a degree of apprehension due to the dangers of Dreamwalking in the beginning.

"Allaria?"

"Yes, she walked the dream road and woke quite sick. She's had a headache for a day or two, I followed the instructions you gave and she seems to be improving"

She ran her hands down his arms feeling the muscle underneath and sighed.

"I need to settle the hatchery and I'll return tomorrow. For tonight I need to rest, rub the oils on her again and give her the tea for dreamless sleep to give her a break. I'll take her to the Temple when I return"

Aeyrelis kissed the top of her head and dissolved into the dark of her dreams, she fell into a deep sleep.

She woke the next morning and spent a few moments looking from her bed towards the terrace. Krysaella had been there and the most spectacular plants had grown over the top of the terrace creating a canopy and leafy outlook. She smiled inside at the young girls kindness and talent with Earth. She spent every day down at the fields and with the livestock increasing their yields and helping with raising their food. Since she set foot on these lands Krysaella had been integral to setting up logistics of food supply. Alaerya had been pleased with Aeyrelion and Krysaellas actions in their absence. She dressed and attended breakfast with her son and future daughter in law. Instead of the dining hall they chose to dine in Krysaellas terrace garden. Alaerya made her way through the hanging vines and flowers to see her son smiling and laughing sunlight shining on his head. They stopped talking on her approach and Krysaella rose and bowed for Alaerya's arrival. She bowed her head in response, "Morning children, sorry I'm a little later than we planned"

"No matter mother we were just arriving ourselves" said Aeyrelion with a smile.

"We have been down to the fields early this morning to check on progress" said Krysaella as she delicately ate breakfast.

"And how is it all going dear?"

"Better than we expected," she gushed, "because we moved elders of our families here first I've been able to spend time with them and learning their wisdom. It's been busy, but enjoyable, we have plenty of food supply and when the residences begin to fill there is more than enough for everyone."

"Seems you have natural abilities to lead, both of you"

Alaerya looked at Aeyrelion whose smile turned serious, "It is good practice for when we are older, yes"

"It was wise of your father to recommend you come here first and oversee the set up of our lands. The lessons you're learning now will help you later"

"Thank you for trusting us Lady Alaerya" spoke Krysaella sweetly.

"Just call me Alaerya, and you've shown yourselves to be quite capable. You'll have more opportunities to learn because I'm leaving today."

Aeyrelion looked dismayed, "Why so soon?"

"Your sister needs me and it's time for the final stages of relocation to occur"

"Are you going to discuss this with any of the other noble families?" questioned Krysaella.

Alaerya took a bite of food and ate thoughtfully, "When we decided to come here I was certain I only wanted people here who would uplift and contribute to building us up. Several families aren't capable of that yet they have children who are kind and capable. It's been an issue I've been struggling with to be honest. How do I invite the children and not the adults? And is it even my right to decide they shouldn't be here?"

"There's definitely a few families who would seek to destroy what we have done mother. There is much discontent at the new alliance, they're just too scared to do anything. If they knew about this location they would attack us, I'm sure of it." spoke Aeyrelion, bitterness in his voice.

"Have you ever seen the children of these families exhibit cruelty or the same dispositions as the adults of their families? You have spent much more time in their presence than I have" Alaerya asked with genuine curiosity.

Krysaella shook her head, "No Alaerya, the children are mostly kind. There are some though who are showing signs of their families personalities. Though they are few, they do put on a face around the adults and are different when it's just the children."

"Are all the siblings in these families the same? Are they all showing signs of cruelty and darkness?"

"Not all of them, some of them are gifted magically. It is the gifted ones who are the kindest now I think on it." continued Krysaella.

"Interesting, that's all I need to know. I know of whom you speak of. I'll need to think on this matter because it's delicate. I can not remove these children from their parents, it will cause war, and war we don't need right now. I need to find a way to have them released to me"

Aeyrelion looked troubled, "I still hate the idea of leaving any children behind to face the destruction that's coming"

"I also feel that way son, but I was told by someone very wise that if I tried to save them all I would fail. The families would never let it happen, there are many who don't believe in prophecies. Enough of this talk for now tell me more about what you're both doing"

Alaerya enjoyed dining with her son and future daughter by law in the beautiful terrace garden. Delightful birds sang around them and the air smelled of honeyed roses, it was a truly breath taking place. A showcase of Krysaellas talent and kind temperament, she was proud of what they were achieving together. After eating, Alaerya realised she had a busy schedule, hugged them and excused herself.

"I trust you both to continue what you're doing here. I am going to settle the hatchery and will return home from the far island. Expect many more arrivals to appear, settle them in their allocated houses and continue what you're doing here. I'm proud of both of you"

Krysaella beamed and Aeyrelion squeezed her hand. They all hugged goodbye and she left them to spend some time alone, it warmed her heart to see them in love. She turned back, "One last thing, when we are all settled here I think it's time to arrange wedding you two"

Krysaella blushed and beamed a smile, Aeyrelion looked to his future wife lovingly and as Alaerya departed, they shared a kiss.

Alaerya made her way to the hatchery in the bowels of the volcano, she was pleased to see many of the hatchlings doing well and the eggs all seemed to be enjoying the conditions here also. Overnight some of the eggs had gotten larger, something which surprised Alaerya. There were already some Valyrians who specialised in dragon magic as the Temple of the Dragon had relocated their texts and leaders to Valreos. Aside from her and Aeyrelis, only two of the most qualified from the temple had been able to enter with Alaerya's permission. She gave them instructions and asked for suggestions, they collaborated on a schedule for the hatchery operations and she left the rest in their hands.

"Thank you both, I'm grateful you are here on Valreos"

The priest spoke, "Lady Alaerya we are most privileged to be here and to be guiding you. It is an honour we were invited"

"We will see you very soon my Lady" smiled the priestess knowingly.

"Yes I will return soon, with the remaining allies and hopefully some more"

"The right people will come, you will make sure of it" continued the priestess

"We look forward to your return and can assume there will be considerably more dragons joining you?" asked the priest curiously.

"Yes I believe each family has a cache of eggs, we will need to discuss how to handle each family's eggs. We might need to consider allocating storage to each family until we can arrange another agreement seeing as we will all be working together when we get here"

The priest and priestess of the Dragons bowed, they didn't dress in robes like followers of other temples. They were always dressed in dragon hide riding armour made from the skins of dragons who passed in battles. Alaerya looked proudly at the hatchery once more and they exited the caves. Vaella was waiting for her, she mounted her, glanced around satisfied at how things were developing and they began their return to Valyria.

Rhaexor was relieved to see Allaria sitting up in bed reading, she smiled as he entered the room.

He laid down next to her and Allaria rested her head on his shoulder, "I'm so happy you're alright" he said softly as he took her hand in his.

"I felt terrible all day, seeing you made me feel better though" smiled Allaria.

He glanced at her from the side and smiled, "The potions and oils had no effect? Just me?"

She laughed lightly which lead to coughing, Rhaexor pulled her close to him and held her.

"I was angry I wasn't allowed to see you" he said after a period of quiet.

"I know, and Father told me also"

Rhaexor was silent, he knew he shouldn't have been so forward when talking to Aeyrelis.

"What's wrong?" Said Allaria turning to face him.

He sighed, "Seems we are both going through some uncertainty"

"Uncertainty? About what?" Her brow furrowed with concern.

"Nothing is wrong. I've just been feeling angrier than usual and your Father angered me by forbidding me to see you today. I was acting like a fool, I know he was right in his decision. I need to apologise for my moodiness."

"He knows it all, I wouldn't worry. He is not angry at you."

Rhaexor was relieved, "That's good I feel stupid for how I was acting though."

"Well I'm sure he will appreciate you talking to him. Why were you so angry though? I was fine, just sleeping and recovering"

"No young Valyrian man likes being told what to do by someone who's not your father by blood. I forgot my place"

"Stay with me tonight I could use the company"

"Will that be allowed? I'm not usually allowed to stay in your chambers"

"I will send a message to father he can station a servant inside to watch over us. I just don't want to be alone"

"I won't say no to spending time with you. Should we study?" joked Rhaexor.

Allaria groaned in mock pain, "No! No books allowed"

Later, a servant entered and stayed as per the agreement with Aeyrelis, the servant again rubbed Allaria with special oils and gave her tea to drink. Allaria only managed to drink half before she fell asleep in Rhaexors arms.

Rhaexor nodded off to sleep easily next to Allaria, they rested peacefully and the servant watched over them through the night. The room was dark with a small amount of moonlight coming through the large windows, at the same time both their eyes opened in the darkness, and flicked to milky white.

Allaria was standing with Rhaexor looking up at a huge white shimmering marble building. The sigil of House Valreon was on the door, they approached and entered the large house. The splendour of the House surpassed the Valyrian home and was filled with stunning architecture, columns and beautiful shimmering marble. It almost had a rainbow glow to it, the gardens were perfectly balanced between manicured and growing wild. Both Allaria and Rhaexor looked at each other amazed, then the scenery shifted to an enormous gold and shimmering cave. Dragons and eggs were in here, thriving and flying, basking in the vibrant energy feeding the air. Both of them felt their blood singing in this cave and felt their energies strengthen. As the energy began to feel unbearable they were back in Valyria. Watching a group of Flame council, at first they thought they were doing the rituals to honour the Fourteen Flames.

'Why are there slave children there?' Whispered Rhaexor.

They watched as the slave children were executed, their blood pouring into the flames and the flames taking a shape of their own. They felt the floor begin to tremble underneath them and watched as the flames they had conjured burnt everyone to ash who had been standing there before. Allaria looked around and saw another group of people, the leader she knew, her great Aunt Vhaerya.

The visions suddenly stopped. Allaria and Rhaexor woke, breathing heavily. Rhaexors head was splitting in pain, the servant ran to get help and shortly later he felt cool hands rubbing oils on him as well this time. He felt a warm cup pushed to his mouth and he drank, sinking into an exhausted sleep afterward.

The next morning they woke and were both confined to their beds on Aeyrelis orders. Allaria had recovered better than Rhaexor despite being weak still. Rhaexor remained feeling weak and pained, a sensation he did not welcome.

Aeyrelis came to visit Rhaexor after breakfast, he entered the darkened room and sat by his bed.

"Seems we have uncovered a new skill young man" spoke Aeyrelis as he watched the young man grimace from his headaches.

Aeyrelis face was stern but his voice was soft, "I was worried about you, walking the dream road the first time can be dangerous. If I hadve known this would happen I wouldn't have allowed you to stay with her. Seems your magic amplified each other."

Rhaexor simply swallowed he was too weak for much else, any attempt at moving or speaking resulted in pain.

"You will leave tomorrow with your family for Valreos, we will explore these talents more on the islands. When Alaerya gets here..."

As Aeyrelis spoke the door opened and Alaerya entered smiling, "All the action seems to happen when one or both of us is away."

She crossed the room and kissed her husband on the cheek, then she sat on the bed and took Rhaexors hand, feeling his pulse and looking at his skin.

"You are lucky to have been close to Allaria, seems the oils must've touched your skin and gave you some protection."

"No one else in my family can do this, why me?" Said Rhaexor weakly which resulted in shooting pains in his heads.

"You do actually have history of this in your family line my dear. A few generations back you have an ancestor who was actually First Dreamwalker in the Temple. So even though it's been dormant it's still there."

Rhaexor groaned in disbelief and Alaerya smiled, "We will discuss this with your Father, he is on his way from the docks. The rest of your family is preparing to leave today, we will make arrangements for either your departure or to remain here until we get this under control"

"I want to go with my family" spoke Rhaexor as softly as he could manage to prevent the pains.

"Sh sh don't talk Rhaexor, I will tell your Father and we will come to you soon"

Alaerya motioned to Aeyrelis, they left the room as a servant entered with strengthening tea. Closing the door and walking along the corridor Alaerya pointed in the direction of the dome.

"Let's go to the dome"

Rhaexors father was pacing in the dome worry etched on his face, he rushed to them when they entered.

"Please don't tell me he's-"

"He's fine, perfectly fine. You can see him shortly. Turns out you have potent dream walking talent latent in your blood line." smiled Alaerya reassuringly.

Kaeryon looked taken aback, "We have dream walking in our line?"

Alaerya chuckled, "You don't remember History lessons as a child? Your ancestor was one of the First Dreamwalkers"

Kaeryon sat in the nearest chair to process this information, "What do we do now? We are planning to leave today?"

Alaerya and Aeyrelis sat across from him, "There are two options, and we need to agree on this, the islands have untamed power. They intensify all people of magic, I'm concerned if he leaves so soon after his first dreamwalk it could be dangerous for him there. We don't have any Dreamwalkers there yet."

"I don't want him to stay behind," said Kaeryon definitively then his shoulders slumped, "but he's your ward and betrothed to your daughter so what you see fit I'll agree to."

"Hold on Kaeryon, the boys well-being is our main concern" said Aeyrelis, "he has a bit of a hot head on him but underneath that he's a good man"

Kaeryon flushed slightly, "i Had hoped his heated nature would reduce by now"

"We all have fire in us and he hasn't acted out of line so far" countered Aeyrelis.

"What do you suggest then?" He looked from Alaerya to Aeyrelis, "I am concerned either way"

Alaerya pursed her lips together and leaned forward, "He can stay here and go to the Temple with Allaria for some help there, or" she continued uncertainly, "we can ask permission for a priest from the temple to accompany you to Valreos. Their temple is close to completion and they need to use their magic to finalise it anyway. It is time for some of them to go to Valreos."

Kaeryon looked relieved, "Alaerya I don't ask for much but I want my son safe with me. I would never forgive myself if Valyria detonated and my son was still here"

"We have a little time before that but I understand your stance. I will organise it and you will take Rhaexor with you today. You will need to depart a little later than scheduled so I can make the arrangements."

Kaeryon stood up and extended his hand, "Always appreciate when we make a decision together. I also wanted to thank you for including our House, you've strengthened us considerably and we are eternally grateful"

Aeyrelis and Kaeryon shook hands by clasping elbows and looking into their eyes, "We are working together, you were the right choice"

Kaeryon bowed his head to Alaerya and departed on his dragon. They watched him leave towards the docks, Alaerya turned to Aeyrelis.

"Get Rhaexor prepared to leave, I'll take Allaria to the Temple."

Aeyrelis squeezed his wife's hand and kissed her cheek, "We are close to needing to leave now. Are you alright with all these changes?"

"I won't lie and say I'm happy to leave Valyria but I'm excited to settle on Valreos and start something new"

He bowed to her, kissed her hand and spun around to leave and make arrangements for Rhaexor.

Alaerya entered her daughters darkened room and approached her bed. She had been deeply sleeping before when she checked in on her and now she could see her daughter looking out her window from her bed. At the sound Allaria turned and saw her mother, she smiled weakly. Alaerya sat next to her daughter and hugged her tightly saying nothing for a long time.

"He's leaving today isn't he?" Allaria said quietly

"It's for the best, his family want to ensure he's safe and we agree with them"

"Are we safe here?"

"For a short time we are but your father is sending many more ships of items and people to the islands now. Once we settle and stabilise you, we will also leave"

"What do you mean stabilise me?"

"We can't take you to the islands yet, the power there is strong and wild. All who go there become stronger and that could be dangerous for you"

"What about Rhaexor he's only just-"

"Shh don't stress yourself we are making arrangements to make sure he's safe"

Allaria knew her family wouldn't send him unless something was in place, "Why can't I go with him?"

"Because someone wants to see you first, I'll help you out of bed you need to come with me to the Temple"

"Which Temple mother?" said Allaria fearfully as the memories of the slave children returned.

"The Temple of Dreamwalkers"

She breathed in relief and Alaerya smiled, "What you saw will need to happen. You cannot change those threads of time dear"

"What about Aunt-" started Allaria.

"Another thread of time we have been told not to interfere with"

Allaria felt pangs of sadness for her mother, she knew how close they were. Allaria gingerly got out of bed with assistance, and was given a strong healing tea which Alaerya strengthened with magic.

Allaria felt it course through her body, warm and comforting, and felt herself strengthening as time went on. Her cheeks flushed with colour and she smiled at her mother, "we both could've used that magic hours ago"

"I know, I came as soon as I settled the hatchery and flew home" replied Alaerya as she looked lovingly at Allaria and smoothed back her hair.

"Are you ready to work with this? I know it is hard to face at first" said Alaerya to her daughter gently.

"It is what's meant to be mother. I accept my role in this, I just want to feel better again. The only way is to control it"

Alaerya nodded once, satisfied as she guided Allaria from the room and towards Vaella waiting in the dome.

"Climb on Vaella, take your time. You're not strong enough to take Ashaera yet".

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

Allaria was in awe of the Temple on their arrival, it's beauty was eerie yet fascinating. The women walked through the clouds parting for them as they went, she marvelled at how her mother knew where to go. They approached a large staircase and climbed reaching a large landing at the top and entering through a large golden shimmering door. They walked through the door and it formed behind them, Alaerya cast a shield of protection. The First Dreamwalker Rhaellis turned to see them and he smiled.

"Allaria we meet at last, you are just a picture of your mother when she was younger"

Allaria smiled at her Mother.

"Do you know why you're here?" He said seriously in a low voice as he approached.

She nodded, "I've started walking the dream road..."

"What do you know of this dream road?"

"I can see the future?" She guessed uncertainly.

He chuckled and summoned an orb, "Almost but not quite. Dream walking is much more than just prophecies. It is one of the great mysteries of the Spirit element and it's used for a great amount of things. Dream walking can be used to see ahead of time although it can be dangerous to place value in just dreams and prophecies alone"

"Sorry to interrupt" Allaria said, "but isn't that why we are leaving Valyria? Because of prophecies from dream walking?"

"No" he said simply and shook his head.

Allaria looked at her mother confused.

"Dream Walking and prophecies from just dreams are problematic for two reasons, the future is not set and dreams are from the realm of spirit. The prophecies you speak of have been seen in both the dream roads and in the flames. That is the difference here. Flame magic has roots in the physical world in the element of fire, seeing a prophecy in both is rare and that is the case here. The prophecies have been verified in the flames and we know of groups conspiring to bring about a great destructive force which will bring about the destruction of Valyria."

He released an orb and it opened showing an event in time long ago of destruction and death in an unfamiliar land.

When it finished he looked at her, he pointed to where the vision was "This is an example of why there is mistrust in the Dream Walking. This prophecy predicted the downfall of a civilisation which was our equal when Valyria was climbing to power. In this case it was water which we saw destroying this city. At the time there was certainty we could sweep through this city in the aftermath and claim it as our own and secure another territory. We were wrong and lost many lives because of it, this was the start of prophecies being looked at with disdain. We had much to learn and we still do, nothing is ever perfect or faultless in learning. But there have been irrefutable signs of the coming destruction and I need to prepare you to leave here and be with your family"

He looked to Alaerya, "Leave her with me, her training will finish when the moon rises"

Alaerya thanked him and bowed slightly, on her way out he said after her, "You will be given what you need for the boy".

As Alaerya exited, two priests and a priestess waited for her accompanied by two young children who looked at her curiously.

"We have come to accompany young Rhaexor and finish the Valreon temple" spoke Rhaenar to Alaerya.

Alaerya nodded and began to lead the way, "Follow me, you will leave today. Have you all you need?"

They indicated their bags, she presumed they were magic also, "We have everything we need right here Lady Alaerya" spoke the priestess.
