Chapter 22: Fall of Valyria
The flame dragon flew with an unreal pace being made from magic, it knew exactly where it was going and in a few hours the sun began to creep over the horizon. As it did he saw land up ahead and the dragon screeched in joy. Vaeris knew this dragon was part Vhaerya too and deep down she was sad she wouldn't be joining her family. That was what was really behind her anger and intolerance lately. As they flew closer he heard screeching of other dragons and saw a huge flock with one of the biggest dragons he's ever seen leave the island and approach him. He became nervous as he couldn't see riders on their backs. The group flew in formation towards him and the leader conjured fire ready to attack. Vaeris recognised the incredible beast as being Vaella, he remembered his lessons in dragon communication. He sent greetings to the dragon and his ride screeched to them announcing their arrival. Vaella pulled away from the attack and flew up and over Vaeris looking down at them. She circled around behind him and flew alongside them looking over them. She clicked and growled a few times and the dragon Vaeris rode returned them. Vaella surged forward and returned to the island with the others, she landed on a large beautiful white building. Vaeris' ride flew over the islands and he took in the breathtaking sight. He almost fell off he was so consumed with leaning forward and seeing the expansive cities beneath him. This was so much more than he imagined it would be. They had docks, agriculture, industry and temples set up. It was incredible the breadth of what had been created here in a short time. He looked back and saw the sigil of House Valreon on the biggest house and Vaella perched on a terrace at the top. His ride flew in this direction landing close to the house Valreon dropping its head for him to dismount.
Alaerya was barely awake when she heard Vaellas excited screeches and clicks from the terrace. She climbed from bed and slowly made her way to see what was happening cradling her swollen stomach. Aeyrelis was there already talking with Vaella, his own dragon flying next to her. He looked at her in sleepy disbelief, "You're not going to believe this. Vaeris has just arrived on the back of a dragon, and not his own."
Alaerya looked out and saw the dragon landed near their home, she turned and grabbed a cloak hurrying from the room. She walked as fast as she could comfortably through the house which was just beginning to rise. Others had come at the sound of the dragons and looked at her with worry that they were being attacked.
She ran out of the House towards the waiting dragon, Vaeris had dismounted and was waiting by the dragon taking the bags down. She ran to him and flung her arms around him.
"I'm so glad you came" she breathed as the hurried trip outside had made her breathless.
"Without your Aunt I wouldn't have made it away from there"
She looked at him happy with tears in her eyes, "Why didn't you come earlier you stubborn man?"
He looked serious, "There are people trying to find this place to destroy it and hurt you all. I had to make sure they didn't have time to do that"
She hugged him again as Aeyrelis came up to them and slapped his back laughing.
She pulled back, "Who's dragon is this then?"
Alaerya reaches out and touched the dragon, a jolt of magic energy shot up her arm. She recoiled in shock and looked to Vaeris to explain.
"This is your Aunts magic my dear, she was my last chance. If I didn't make it here in time I wouldve lost my ride and died trying to reach you"
He indicated the sacks he'd taken from the dragons back, "I brought many things from the Governors building you will find useful. As well as the last of my family's possessions and wealth"
"Your family live close to here they will be so glad you came, and you should know there are surprises waiting"
Alaerya said smiling at him, he looked down and reached out touching her stomach.
"I know"
"Of course, my Aunt has been watching"
"She has been, and has been making sure you're all safe before she leaves"
Alaerya felt sadness rising but pushed it down, she hugged him once more and called for some servants to notify his family.
Once the dragon was free of cargo it looked at Alaerya, she touched its nose again and put her head against it.
"Thank you" she whispered.
In a swift movement lowered its head in acknowledgement and lifted into the air, flying through the air and back in the direction of Valyria.

Orys has risen early on his first day as High Governor, he had commanded his servants to dress him and find his children to show them how important he was now. The servants returned looking worried, "We can't find the children sir. Their doors are locked and warded"
"Leave them for now, they're not as important as it is to look good on my first day. I have important meetings today just, dress me" he commanded, they scurried to fulfil his requests.
He was annoyed inside his children had never really grown to become like him and his brothers. They were not impressed by his competitiveness or cruelty, one of them was even gentle and kind. He used to joke they weren't his children and on occasion he had considered this to be fact. Once he went so far as to beat the truth from his wife, but stopped himself at the realisation his wife's family would not take this in kind. However there was no disputing their features were clearly from his family line. He admired himself in the mirror, and ordered some food be brought to his home offices. He looked out over Valyria feeling triumphant, it was all his, finally. He could do whatever he wanted and not be stopped, he had always thought Valyria needed to be stronger and more aggressive than it was. He wanted to conquer more lands and expand Valyrian territories by force, he sipped his drink as he contemplated his plans. His dome had a view of the volcanos and sprawling residential areas, the city was bustling with activity. Dragons were flying around as usual, new buildings in the business districts had been recently completed and the docks were busy with loading and unloading cargo. Another perfect day in my town, he thought with a smirk, Vaeris just gave up the fool. He remembered scornfully all the things Vaeris did that he detested. He found his wife and kissed her goodbye telling her to punish the children for not being present to see him on his first day and he left their home.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Orys arrived into his new office and noted with annoyance the building and his office had been stripped of all important documentation and valuable artifacts. Angered, he sent forces over to Vaeris home to force him to hand everything over. They returned a short time later to notify him Vaeris was gone and his was house empty. Perplexed but not one to let this get the better of him, he conducted his morning meetings and felt a strong sense of satisfaction of being in power. He signed some new treaties with the Temple of Shaerya to gather and train a strong and aggressive group of Valyrian guards to arm the city. He also discussed conquering with the warrior maid, she was young with a strong attractive build and good at strategy.
"I would like to arrange another meeting regarding extending the powers of my personal guard. Is there another word for torture that can be used to give my guards higher powers of protection?"
Without flinching the woman responded, "We will find one High Governor and give you all the power you desire for your guards"
He liked this woman and her willingness to please him, "Thank you, in exchange I will find some allocation from the treasury to spend as you see fit"
"Most gracious, and appreciated. Look forward to working with you" she smiled as she stood.
"I have some time later today, can you return with your plans for expansion?"
She bowed, "Unfortunately I have an important Temple ritual this afternoon, we will have to arrange another time in the future"
He regarded her for a moment, "We can definitely arrange a time in the future. I have many plans and today is only my first day. We will revisit this" he dismissed her with a wave of his hand
She nodded and bowed hiding her dislike of his demeanour, "Happy to serve sir"
"Thank you, see you again"
She turned and left the room and returned to the area where her dragon was waiting. She confidently jumped onto her back and with a click was away flying over Valyria. She dismounted at a Temple a short distance away, but not her own, she joined three others outside the Temple of Flames. Looking at her dragon for the last time and sent her thanks she said a heartfelt goodbye. Her dragon flew away and she felt pained that she would never fly on her again, she hoped there was time for her to escape.

The slave children were forced in, kicking, crying and screaming by the slaves of the Flame Temple who grimaced in their struggle. The small group of priests and priestesses looked at them with contempt, considering them only useful for bringing forth the greatest power the world has ever seen.
The Priest leading them, Varyn stepped forward and summoned ropes to restrain the children. Immediately they were tightly bound and rendered unable to move, crying and shaking with fear on the floor. They were in the bowels of the great Valyrian volcano, the source of power and greatness of Valyria.
The followers surrounded the children in a circle and a great fire sprung forth around them, the children watched in fear as the flames made their eyes glow bright red. The flames circled around them swirling fast until it became a vortex of flame energy surrounding and engulfing them.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
In another part of the city, a group of slaves had gathered in one of the unused mines of the departed families of Valyria. These mines were being reallocated to the remaining nobility today. They knew the departure of powerful families was the perfect time to rise up and take back their freedom while there was a dip in power. Word had spread the High Governor had disappeared to be replaced with a new, arrogant and cruel man. So they knew their time was now or never, the slaves scurried through dark tunnels to where their comrades were waiting by the thousands. To rise up and become free of Valyria was the goal, along with weakening them and at best taking the city as their own. They had the numbers, and the element of surprise. The strongest wielders of their magic had left and the Moonsingers wanted to take Valyria as their own now. Retribution for the atrocities committed against their people in the past. First they killed anyone working in the mines that wasn't a slave, they took control of Valyrias seat of wealth without raising any alarms. No one made it out alive to raise warnings, the first stage was bloody and successful all who weren't with them were cut down. This bolstered their confidence as their first kills lay dead and bloody on the floor of their mines. The slaves knew some of the noble families were still residing in Valyria. They attacked their homes first, flooding into the great noble houses of Valyria killing their servants and any Valyrians they found, including women. The slaves found it strange they were unable to find the children in some houses, despite hunting for them, it didn't matter in the moment they slaughtered all they found. Some servants managed to escape and raise the alarm, Valyria was under attack from within. Dragons began to roar and rise into the air in retreat, but it was too late. Majority of the remaining Valyrian nobility were laying in pools of their own blood in their once great Houses.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Vhaerya left her home for the last time with thoughts of how to transfer her magic on her mind. It had been done before but she had never done it herself, as she had never needed to. So it was risky, especially doing it at the point of her death, so she decided to take a risk and do it anyway. She approached the Flame Temple and saw the brave Valyrians who had chosen to give their lives to ensure Valyrias downfall. These people were crucial to finally silencing the destructive force which was being unleashed as she walked through Valyria for the last time. Mentally her mind drifted to Vaeris, she saw his arrival at Valreos on her flame dragon. She was relieved, she located the dragon made of her blood and fire. It was heading to another location for another purpose, she saw snippets in her mind of what was to come for it. She allowed it to continue unhindered, she needed to focus on the Temple and destroying the Flames of Darkness. Walking into Temple taking one last look around at her home, she stops for a moment to notice the dragons littering the sky. Not being deferred by other events she looked at her comrades and indicated to follow her. She lead them into the Temple, tonight it would live up to its fearsome reputation as the true Temple of Death. The flames violently parted for them to enter and then resumed their powerful flames as they disappeared inside.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Orys had the entire remaining Valyrian nobility in his office, squabbling over assets and properties to be divided. He tried to speak several times and was drowned out by the arguing and fighting about who deserved more than the other. He pulled out one of the only few lists left behind from Vaeris to see what he had deemed fair to allocate to the families. He was stunned when he read his words, so much so that he read them three or four times before it sunk in.
All it said was "give them nothing"
'That bastard' he thought, 'deliberately put me in a situation I can't win'. Angry, he crumpled the paper and threw it to the side knowing he was out of depth but determined not to show it.
He stood and went to the window, no one noticed his movement they continued pointing to the lists of wealth and arguing.
One of his assistants entered the room quietly and urgently went to Orys whispering, "Sir I need a word, now"
Orys looked at him with irritation, "I'm in the middle of this-" he indicated the arguing families.
His assistant lowered his voice more, "Sir, the slaves are revolting, they've killed everyone working in the mines and begun slaughtering the nobility in their houses..."
Orys looked up sharply.
"Your house has been attacked and from what we can see no one survived. You need to come, now, and see if your wife and children had time to hide..."
Orys began to walk from the room when the floor shook violently, many lost their footing as the building began to shake angrily. The shaking ceased and Orys shakily stood, as did the others as they looked around at each other in confusion shock written across their faces. This moment was short lived, the building shook again and this time everyone was thrown around powerless to protect themselves. Many injured were or killed from the impact of hitting walls and furniture, Orys was dazed, his assistant was dead by his side. The shaking ceased again and Orys looked around shocked, he braced for more on the floor covered in dust and debris. The building continued to shake infrequently, Orys regained some consciousness and crawled to sit up, the debris falling from his back to the floor. He looked around the room, half the families were injured but alive, some clearly deceased. and others motionless moaning in pain. He cursed Vaeris in that moment, and knew he'd been set up on his first day as High Governor.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
The powerful earthquake shook the walls and floors in the Flame Temple, temporarily Vhaerya and her assailants had trouble holding their footing but they regained composure in time. As they entered the bowels of the great flame of Valyria a group of slave children were restrained screaming in their language.
Vhaerya watched them briefly, sadly noting their cries would be futile, and entered the cave.
When her eyes adjusted to the fire and smoke she saw them, the group who would destroy Valyria and take her life. The fire energy was building but it had already turned most of the fanatics to ash. Half of them had been killed where they stood, piles of ashes dotted the circle of fanatics. They couldn't wield it, they weren't strong enough. She smiled as she knew they were destined to fail regardless. As she entered she saw the leading priest who sadly looked so much like his father, Varyn was using every fibre of his being to become one with and wield the flame. It exploded in fury again and reduced more of his followers to ashes. Very quickly it was overwhelming them, Vhaerya turned to her accomplices, "When I begin to work send your energy and life force into me. You will die a quick death, but your energy will amplify our purposes here. And Valyria will fall, our blood magic will have the desired effect"
They nodded solemnly and all stepped forward, the priest saw Vhaerya and his face contorted with fury.
"Oh dear boy, how naive of you to think no one else had ever mastered and wielded this magic before. You were too arrogant to ask"
As she held out her hand the wild and furious energy jumped to her and swirled around her.
"Finally someone is here who can wield this energy" she said smugly.
He looked shocked for a second but stepped forward, "Unleash this magic so we can rule the world then old woman"
He looked uneasily behind her as the group poured their energy to Vhaerya and some had begun to fall to their death. As they died, their blood magic made Vhaerya glow and the flames from within her swirl with intensity and potency none had ever seen before.
Varyn stepped back shielding his eyes, as the Flames of Darkness and her own flame magic resisted and struggled one another. Suddenly the Flames of Darkness lashed out and reduced everyone except Vhaerya in the cave to ash. The last face she saw was Varyn's, contorted in anger and disgust before he was reduced to ashes and swept away by the gust of wind the flames created in the cave. She laughed strong and loud as her flame energy grew from their deaths and began to devour the Flames of Darkness in the shape of a huge, powerful fire magic dragon. At the height of its power the dragon dragged the Flames of Darkness into the bowel of the volcano with its fiery jaws. The violence of their impact caused the Valyrian volcano to implode, detonating with such fury the earth opened up in huge chasms all over Valyria sweeping people and structures away.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Orys and the survivors of the earthquake hurried towards the hall of the Governors building, he hadn't told them of the slave uprising in their homes. The ones still standing were the last of their families if the reports were true. They tore into the main meeting hall on the top floor just in time to see it, the main Volcano of Valyria had risen. In the moment they saw it, they knew it was all over and the prophecies were true. It exploded with such force and fury the last thing they saw was the explosion. The force of the explosion ripped through the Governors building, all inside were torn apart and burned behind recognition. No one survived the first explosion in the buildings closest to the volcano, Orys was High Governor for just over half a day. The remaining Valyrian families were now turned to ash, the bodies and blood of their families and servants fresh in their houses which would begin crumbling also.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
The slave uprising quickly changed from triumphant to terrifying, as they conquered the noble houses the floor began to shake. From the tops of the domes they saw it, the massive detonation and deafening sounds as the volcano exploded and everything around it disintegrated. The slave uprising ended as quickly as it started, slaves and nobles died in the Houses and the Houses fell away into nothing. The ground rumbled and shook, opening up and swallowing whole neighbourhoods never to be seen again. Temples and great places of magic burned and turned to ash or were swallowed into the earth. Valyria was burned and broken, just as they had been warned it would be. The lava spewing out in an enormous fountain, hit and angry continued destroying the city. Rocks and debris from the volcano hammered down on the city killing any who attempted to venture out. The heat and gases suffocated the dragons in the sky, no matter how high they flew the volcano was too powerful they couldn't escape the choking and death. Their lifeless bodies fell to the earth, shattering broken structures and splitting apart from the force of their fall. Valyria was now lava, broken buildings, rocks and covered in the bloodied bodies of dragons.
In the main volcano, Vhaeryas life energy still burned, it had overcome and defeated the Flames of Darkness with a simple power no one had thought of before. The power of willing sacrifices of immense magical talent, their willingness to give their lives, and their power to Vhaerya meant she wielded a force immensely more powerful than it. And it crumbled beneath her might and burned away in the volcano, which was now burning all of Valyria.
At the moment of her death Vhaerya felt a huge physical release, she saw everything of her body and the others disappear into ash and nothingness. Everything she had known was gone, never to rise again or be as it was. She was floating like specks of dust in the wind, and she had her consciousness and could think. Yet she couldn't feel any physical sensations because she no longer had her body. She knew only her magic was powering her now, but even that had a limit on its time before her consciousness began to slip away.
Her particles and magic transported to Valreos, she knew exactly what to do with her magic and power. She couldn't take it with her and she had achieved things never written down and never seen elsewhere in Valyria. Her energy floated above Alaerya as she rested for the afternoon, she felt no emotions anymore for Alaerya but she knew she loved her. And as she felt her consciousness weakening and she began to slip away, with the last of her might she sent all of her power and skills into Alaerya. The magic hit Alaerya forcefully and caused her to jolt strongly screaming out loud waking Aeyrelis. The magic swirled through Alaerya's body making its way to its intended target where it settled and swirled. Eventually it all formed and settled in one place, in one person, the little baby growing in Alaerya's stomach.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
No one survived the wrath of the volcano, Valyria was torn apart as the volcanos immense power unleashed constantly until the volcano had simply had disappeared. Showers of lava jets shot out of where it used to tower over the city, the remnants of Valyria beneath the rubble of its most revered natural feature. The other volcanos had been set off in a deadly chain reaction all around the city. The eruptions lasted for hours, the devastating force of the tremors reduced Valyria from magnificence to nothingness. The great city was broken in pieces and buried under the rubble of the volcano. The force of the explosion had caused the bay of Valyria to be completely changed, the ports were destroyed and the areas close by drowned in water. Shortly after, a wall of water as high as the now destroyed volcano had risen. The tidal waves rushed over the city drowning, battering and covering what was once there in a forever watery grave.
Valyria had fallen.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
After Vaeris was left on Valreos, the fire dragon had smelled scents of life on the wind. It was faint, Valyrian blood with magic, and young but it was there. Leaving behind Valreos the energy of Vhaerya in the dragon recognised a need to help. And so the search begun, hours later it came into view. The ship, a lone ship sailing as fast away from Valyria as it could. Their efforts would be in vain because the doom had begun and the conditions on the water would be unsurvivable. As the dragon approached the ship the conditions had already begun to become dangerous. Waves were crashing all over the ship, towering above them, there was a young group of Valyrian children on the deck trying to help stabilise the ship with magic. But they would soon all die, the power behind this couldn't be worked with or stopped. Moments before Vhaerya's life faded away, the dragon swooped down and grasped the ship within its huge claws and flew towards Valreos. The surging and turbulent, angry waves and tsunamis following them the whole way.
The children screamed and ran for cover in shock and trying to save each other from falling into the angry sea below.
At the point of Vhaeryas death the dragon flew closer down to the water, hundreds of leagues away from their original position. Still in danger, but drastically closer than before, the ship mast was broken by the dragon and the sails torn. But they had been saved, the dragon returned the boat to the water hastily as Vhaerya's life energy dissipated, so did the dragons. With its last bout of magical energy, the dragon dissipated into particles of energy that propelled the boat forward with a powerful blast of magical air element. One of the older children on the boat, strong in the element of air pulled in the air magic and used it to continue to power their journey to Valreos. The last boat to leave Valyria had increased their chances of survival.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
Alaerya knew the fall of Valyria had begun, she had woken clutching her stomach the moment her Aunt and Mentors life had slipped away. She knew what Vhaerya had done and looked down in amazement at the gift her unborn child had been given. She hoped her aunt would be waiting for her on the dream road one day so she could hear the details of how she managed to defeat the dark Flame energy she had told her about. Aeyrelis was worried for Alaerya, he knew how close she was with her Aunt. He was too and he was saddened that Valyria had indeed fallen. Alaerya had taken to resting in the afternoons, the energy needed to grow a baby in the early stages was immense. And her body had already lost its reserves in recent times. Aelyssa was kept busy with formulating safe healing potions for energy during pregnancy. Alaerya noticed one waiting next to her bed and with the help of Aeyrelis drank it in sips. Afterward he helped her up and took her to the terrace, as she enjoyed spending time out there. She eased onto a chair rubbing her eyes, Aeyrelis sat next to her and laid a hand on her thigh. Both were lost for words, and sat in silence for a while. Finally Aeyrelis went to find a servant and called the men from the allied houses. They were allowed to meet on the terrace as Alaerya was too unwell to go far and was required at the meeting. The men all came and sat waiting for her to speak.
"Valyria has fallen my friends" she said softly but enough so all heard her. There was shocked silence, some even she'd a tear knowing a show of emotions was safe in this group.
Vyselis Jaedra spoke first, "Are there any survivors Lady Alaerya?"
She shook her head, "no one who was in Valyria today could've made it out alive. The eruptions alone would wiped away life a considerable distance away"
"Will we go back and see what's left? If there's anything that is" spoke Aery.
"Yes we will, of course. For now it's too dangerous for a search party. The gases will kill us like they killed the dragons. It'll be sometime before we can go back there"
"What did it in the end?" said Rhaegon Aelleron.
"A group of the flame council wanted to raise a dark destructive aspect of flame magic. Just raising this magic for the inexperienced would've destroyed Valyria. But the risk of success would've endangered us here. So my Aunt remained in Valyria and managed to ensure none of this small group was able to wield it or survive. She gave her life for ours."
The men gave the Valyrian mark of respect, two fingers touching their heart and then between their eyes. Alaerya appreciated the gesture.
"What's next for us then? We need to notify the people and set up our protections." spoke Kaeryon.
Alaerya nodded, "Yes we do. Vaeris has brought with him some invaluable artefacts and documents from the Governors Towers. We will convene in two days time to discuss formal set up of the ruling council and our trade agreements"
The men bravely stood, still processing the news Valyria was dead and gone, they filed out of the personal chambers feeling numb.
VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV
The boat was battered and broken, propelling forward on the remnants of Vhaerya's magic and of a young Valyrian woman by the name of Vrysella. She pulled in elemental magic and focused on the air, keeping their journey swift and smooth. The seas raged around them but they managed to make it through against the odds. All the children were thin and sickly from the stressful journey, some seemed close to death they were so distressed. Oryon worried they would start dying on him, he was gifted with healing and potions so everyday he made them drink strengthening herbs and did short healing sessions for them. Which was an easier task now due to the fact they had less turbulent conditions. The children all perked up and the babies had begun to settle also, content with the alternatives they had created for mothers milk. Hope was starting to ebb away though, they thought they were going to die on this vessel.
One day the captain came to Oryons side and said quietly, "We need to find land and fast, we can't all last much longer"
Oryon looked at the captain, "I know sir"
The Captain and crew were shaken up by the fact had they not been kidnapped by the Valyrian children they would have died back in Valyria.
Oryon went to give Vrysella some help and heart strengthening potions to help with the physical strain on her body. She was thin and sick from working magic but if she stopped the ship might never make it.
"Please don't kill yourself to do this" he said to her as she drank the strong potion.
"I'll do what it takes to make sure my family survives, I can't let the babies die" she weakly responded as she downed the potions one after the other.
He looked out at the endless sea and felt like they would never get out of this alive. He reluctantly left Vrysella to work her magic knowing with an ache in his heart she wouldn't survive.
The next day, hope was even lower, they all had poor sleep because of the dangerous conditions through the night and huge waves. They were all on edge thinking any moment they might all die together. It was truly horrific, the babies were crying uncontrollably again and they felt miserable, some were even sobbing quietly and praying for quick deaths. Oryon was tending to everyone trying to lift their spirits and didn't hear the crew shout for land for a few minutes. The others heard first and the room started buzzing with excitement. Oryon raced up on the deck, and saw it in the distance. Land had never looked so good before in his life, Vrysella was sitting now and using what little life force she had left to get them there. He knew she was going to die, she had been working magic longer than anyone he had ever known. And for their age and experience level it was unheard of for someone to work magic like this. As they got closer they saw the unmistakeable forms of dragons flying over the islands, relief permeated through everyone on board. Morale was boosted and all the children felt like their luck was about to change. A group of dragons had left the islands and flew towards them, they looked ready to attack. Oryon got his younger brother Orlleon to come forward. He was gifted with dragons, Orlleon sent out a greeting and images of the children on board. Vaella pulled up and flew around the ship looking at them suspiciously. They waited tensely and shortly after Vaella flew back to the islands which were growing in size as they drew nearer.
Orlleon looked at his brother in relief, "We have permission to dock"
The bruised and battered ship docked and had a party of people waiting for it. The children saw Aeyrelion and Krysaella waiting for them and were surprised at how different they looked. The people on the dock looked shocked at the sight of their ship.
Aeyrelion boarded when they had been secured and looked at them in disbelief, "How did you make it here? You don't even have a mast?"
Oryon hugged him fiercely, "we didn't think we would make it. But we made it with a dragon made of magic and a talented woman with air"
He indicated Vrysella sitting on the deck near the bow, Oryon and Aeyrelion went to speak with her. Oryon realised as they got closer to her, as did Aeyrelion, Vrysella had died just as the boat had docked. Oryon touched her and she was still warm, tears fell from his eyes as he held her tightly in his arms.
"She died getting us here, without her and that dragon we would all be dead" he said between sobs as the weight of their journey hit him.
