Eureka fic rated k I don't own Eureka or any of it's characters
Just a short one-shot of an idea that I came up with where Fargos dad...well I won't spoil it so you'll have to read it!
"We're about to meet the engineer of the new propulsion lab and give him an overview of the important details of the project so far. Once we're done with that I want you to go down to security and have them do a backround check on his people.", ordered Nathan as him and Fargo walked towards the main floor of GD.
"Yes sir.", said Fargo as he made a note of his duties.
As they walked toward the scientist they were to meet, Fargo thought the man looked oddly familiar. Jo and Carter were already talking with him as they approached.
"Nice to meet you Doctor Sanders. I'm Doctor Nathan Stark head of Global Dynamics and this is my assistant Douglas Fargo.", said Nathan as he shook the older mans hand.
When Fargo heard that name he immediately realized who stood before him. His eyes felt hot with fury and his thoughts quickly became clouded with anger.
"Did you say Douglas Fargo? I-", the man started to say before Fargos angry mind took over.
"Son of a-!", said Fargo as his fist went flying towards the mans right cheek. The man was sent heading toward the ground as Carter, Jo and Nathan all pulled back Fargo with shock.
"Fargo! What the-", started Nathan as Carter helped up the scientist.
Fargos face was unrecognizable with fury as his eyes were watery with angry tears. He pushed Jo and Nathan away as he pointed angrily at the man. "YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID YOU BASTARD!", said a seething Fargo who proceeded to be pulled back again by Jo and Nathan.
"Come on Fargo.", said Jo as they walked away. He knew it was protocol for her to detain him and he didn't care.
The group left behind was speechless.
"Sir I am so sorry I have no idea what could have caused him to act like that.", said Nathan still pretty shocked.
"I do. It's quite alright Doctor Stark it's actually understandable.", replied the man as he rubbed his jaw.
"What do you mean?", asked Jack.
"Well uh...Douglas is my son...", said the man.
Fargo paced in the GD security cell as Jo sat in a chair near by typing a report on a tablet. Fargo ran a hand through his hair as his anger started to slowly die down. Jo wanted to ask so badly what was going but she thought she'd wait until Fargo had calmed down a bit.
After taking Doctor Sanders to the infirmary, Nathan and Jack walked into the security room with Allison right behind them.
"Fargo! Do you want to tell us why you just nearly broke the jaw of Doctor Sanders!?", asked Allison.
Fargo took a deep breath as he sat down. "That man...Doctor Derek Sanders...is my father.".
"Why the heck did you punch him?", asked Jo simply.
"He...he um. When I was thirteen my mother got really sick. As she got worse he became distant. One night I saw bags by the door, the next morning he was gone. I never saw him again till today. He left us...he left her and I didn't know how to take care of her. We had no money and no relatives, it was just her and I. I had to sit by her bedside everyday for months and watch her get sicker and sicker. I watched her die and all she had was me and then I had no one! NOW HE THINKS HE CAN JUST SHOW UP HERE WITHOUT REMORSE!? NO HE...", Fargo didn't finish as he breathed through the anger. He stood up and unclenched his fists as he ran his hands shakily through his hair. He tried desperately to hold back the tears of hot anger and memories.
His friends were shocked beyond belief as they had no idea what to say. Hearing what they had they completely understood Fargos reaction. How could he not be angry?
"Im sorry. I just couldn't control myself. I've never felt so angry...I just can't forgive him...", he said in a low tone.
Jo stood up as she proceeded to open the cell.
"Let's just say this never happened.", said Allison in a sweet quiet tone as she tried to give a comforting smile.
"Fargo...as long as he is here, I'm reasigning you to the artificial intelligence lab. They could really use your expertise.", said Nathan who was being uncharacteristically sympathetily.
"I don't think this constitutes for an incident report. I mean I probably would've done the same thing Fargo.", said Jack.
"I probably would've taken my gun and shoved-", started Jo till Jack nudged her.
Fargo stepped out of the cell as he put his hands in his pockets. He smiled at the group's surprising amount of understanding.
"Thank you guys. I swear I'll never punch anyone ever again. Well unless Corwin the janitor ever comes back. I really hate that guy.", he said as everyone chuckled.
"What did he do again?", asked Allison as they all walked out of the room.
"He always stole the gum out of my locker!", said Fargo.
"He did not steek your gum that was me!", said Jo as they all continued to laugh.
That day changed their views of Douglas Fargo forever. Everything made sense now too. The reason he used defense mechanisms, the reason for his social awkwardness, and everything thing else that probably got him bullied in school.
And now his friends had a little more respect for him, a little more sympathy, and a lot more understanding.
Okay I know Fargo said in the episode "Family Reunion", that his father died in a lab accident when he was little but I liked this idea so sue me(:
