Nothing Comes For Free
Georgie and Logan, GH
Chapter One
"We're moving."
"We're not doing anything," she shot back at him, as she flung her purse down on the sofa.
"I'm good with that. I'll just pick the kids up from your parents and we'll be on our way. Leave you to your house of horrors."
"I'm sure your home is so much nicer, right?"
"This isn't a home. It's a spook house on a nasty lake that's probably filled with hundreds of dead mobsters. This whole place gives me the creeps. You can't raise kids here."
"You clearly have no taste so I'm not surprised you can't appreciate this mansion. To you, Wyndermere-"
"Good God, I forgot this hell hole has a name."
She ignored him and went on "Wyndermere is nothing but some ancient tomb that's boat ride away from all the action. To me, it's an oasis where I've made thousands of memories with my niece and nephew. They love it here. So do I. You're the only one who doesn't like it, which won't be a problem as soon as we get in front of a family court judge who will see how I am clearly the better guardian for LJ and Frankie."
"Oh, clearly." He rolled his eyes. "A cat lady recluse. You've got this one in the bag."
She grabbed a throw pillow and threw it at him. It bounced off his well muscled chest.
She was usually more self composed than this. A true grown up in every sense of the world: a best selling author, philanthropist, loyal daughter, friend, cousin and sister.
But on a day like this, when she had just returned from reading the will of her dead sister and brother-in-law, and learned that she had to share custody, and live under the same roof, as her brother-in-law's best friend, on days like this, maturity went out the window.
Georgie yelled at Logan. "Go crawl back under whatever rock you've been hiding for the last eight years and leave us alone! No one wants you here."
"Sorry, darlin, you're stuck with me."
She stomped out of the room. Stuck with him. Deep down, she had figured as much the moment she heard from the lawyer the other shocking part of the will: there was 10 million dollars in life insurance and the guardian of the kids got it.
Logan probably could care less about raising his god kids. When he left town years before, dragging his tail between his legs after being dumped by Lulu, he was a dead broke loser. She doubted much had changed over the years.
He was in this just for the money.
Georgie was not about to let him get his greedy hands on the kid's inheritance. She would get his guardian rights severed and then send him back to Texas on the next plane leaving Port Charles Airport.
That way, the kids would be much better off without their no-good, skirt chasing deadbeat god father around and so would she.
There was no way her sanity would hold if she was stuck living with this man for much longer.
