"Will he be ok Nurse Joy?" Asked Professor Burnet for what seemed like the millionth time, just like a stressed out mom, worrying about their beloved child.
It had been over an hour since the group had managed to defeat the Guzzlord that was destroying the mall, but their excitement quickly died down as they realized that Ash and Pikachu had fainted to the ground, both unconscious. After a combined effort from Goh and Kukui, they had managed to carry Ash to the nearest pokemon center. Chloe had held Pikachu in her arms the entire trip there, and he had woken up fairly quickly from fainting but was still pretty weak. Thankfully for them, the streets of Hau'oli city were pretty empty, probably due to the fact most of its population was evacuated after hearing the news of a rampaging Ultra Beast at the mall. They were all currently in a room probably too small for 6 people and a baby but Nurse Joy knew that it would be pointless to argue for them to leave, as they all clearly cared for the currently unconscious trainer.
"Well…" Started admitting the local Nurse Joy working at the Hau'oli City pokemon center. "From what our analysis gathered, it seems as though both Pikachu and Ash used an incredible amount of energy in a very short period of time which caused them to faint instantly. Pikachu had a way easier time recovering, since he is more used to releasing great amounts of energy really quickly, but in Ash's case, it's basically as if he was sprinting his absolute fastest for 30 minutes and all the fatigue he had been building up caught up to him at the end in a fraction of a second, so the shock made him faint instantly" Professor Burnet simply kept looking at the raven haired trainer with an extremely worried look on her face, whilst her husband tried to console her with a soft hug. After a few more minutes, Nurse Joy suddenly stood up from tending to the boy and wiped away the sweat on her forehead.
"That should do it…" Started off Nurse Joy. "Me and Comfy have all that we could at the moment, it should only be a matter of time until he wakes up. Though we don't know how long that may be."
The rest of the people in the room of the pokemon center didn't seem completely happy with her answer, but they still breathed a sigh of relief, knowing he will be ok in the end.
"Thanks for all the help Nurse Joy." Said a relieved Professor Kukui.
"No, thank you for taking care of that Guzzlord, who knows what would have happened if that thing managed to get beyond the mall…"
"Well, you can mostly thank Ash for that, if he hadn't managed to perform a Z-Move we would have all been toast." Joked lightly Goh, trying to lighten up the mood.
"I still find it quite hard to believe he did it without even having a Z-Crystal. Well, I guess that's our Champion and his ace pokemon for ya!" Said Nurse Joy with a smile on her face whilst petting softly the Pikachu whom she had treated earlier and was now just as fit as ever.
Goh and Chloe flinched at the mention of Ash being the Champion of Alola, they had figured it out when Burnet called him that earlier but it didn't make it any easier to wrap their heads around, although thinking about it, it did make quite a bit of sense. Professor Burnet, who was still holding a now sleepy Lei in her arms, noticed their reaction.
"Has Ash ever told you guys he was the Champion of Alola?" Burnet asked the two Vermillion city trainers.
"No… makes me wonder what else he hasn't told us." Said Goh whilst deep in thought.
"Yeah, as much as it doesn't seem like it, he is quite a bit more secretive than he looks, I mean, even for us it took us a while before he started telling us cool stories about his past. Like for example, who in the world would have thought he had a Greninja that could tran-" Kukui was then cut off by a slap to the back of his head by his wife.
"I think it would be best to let Ash explain those things, don't want to spoil too much." The two professors plus Pikachu then laughed which made Goh and Chloe, who had been silent this entire time whilst staring at Ash, look at them with wide eyes, wondering what they were talking about.
Then all of sudden, Kukui, Burnet and Pikachu's laughing was interrupted, by a sudden grunt from the raven haired trainer. He had finally woken up and looked around the room confused whilst holding his head. Chloe immediately stood up from her chair and went to hug the Pallet Town native.
"Ash! You're awake. Thank goodness! You had us all worried." She exclaimed profusely while holding tightly the said trainer.
"Sorry about that… but it's not nothing I can't handle!" He said cheekily with a grin on his face.
"Ash! You have to think more before you do stuff like that, do you know how much stress you've caused us?!" Professor Burnet scolded her kid who simply put his hands up in defense as an apology.
"Honey, I think you should let him off the hook this time, he did save Melemele Island afterall…" Kukui explained trying to reason with her, to which Ash gave him an appreciative look.
"Hmph!" Burnet pouted in response.
"Great to see you doing better Ash, but enough of that! A Z-Move without a Z-Crystal, how is that even possible!?" Goh questioned Ash who scratched the back of his head, chuckling.
"Well… I couldn't have done without Pikachu…" Ash's mood suddenly dropped as he remembered about his best friend. "Wait, where's Pikachu? Is he ok?"
"Pikapi!" The electric mouse exclaimed whilst jumping onto the bed.
"Buddy! I'm glad you're ok!" He said happily and then proceeded to scratch the underside of his pokemon's chin, earning an excited coo from him.
"He woke up a while ago, and I have since treated him, so he is now completely healed from the effects of the Z-Move and feeling better than ever." Said Nurse Joy.
"That's awesome!… Um Chloe? You know you can let go of me now, right?" Said a slightly nervous Ash to the person still embracing him in a tight hug.
"Huh?… Oh sorry!" Chloe, who had not even realized she had been holding on to him this entire time, immediately separated from him while blushing profusely and looking at the ground, embarrassed.
The rest of the group simply laughed at Chloe's actions and Nurse Joy quickly brought their attention back to Ash's current state, much to the relief of the purple haired girl. "Well Ash… Seeing as you have woken up pretty fast and are seemingly good as new, you are free to leave whenever you'd like, your pokemon have also been fully healed earlier and are waiting for you outside.
"Great! Thanks for everything Nurse Joy!"
"Just doing my job." Explained the female working at the pokemon center
"Well guys, let's head out then!" Exclaimed a rather excited raven haired trainer.
"Right!" The rest group replied
They all said their final goodbye's to Nurse Joy and exited the room. Unfortunately for Ash, as soon as he opened the door to the room, he was tackled to the ground by three pokemon, who then proceeded to nuzzle him affectionately. Goh, Chloe, Burnet and Kukui simply watched the scene play out amusingly.
"Lycanroc! Incineroar! Melmeltal! It's nice to see you all again!" He said whilst still being crushed by his old pokemon, who only separated from him when Rowlet brought him a tray with three more pokemon. "Hey Rowlet! Thanks a lot!" The bird flapped around happily and then Ash grabbed the three pokeballs and threw them in the air. "Alright everyone, come on out!"
For the second time in a row, Ash was tackled to the ground, this time by his Lucario, Gengar and Dragonite. Soon after, Ash's alola pokemon rejoined the group hug, forming some sort of mosh pit around their trainer, who simply couldn't stop laughing.
"Ash sure has some special pokemon…" Goh said, wondering if every time he sees his old pokemon this situation happens.
"Takes a special trainer to have some!" Kukui's comment made everyone else who wasn't already laughing join in on the fun.
While everybody was happily laughing, Chloe looked out of the window of the pokemon center and thought about the day she had, and still couldn't believe it had all happened within a span of 24 hours. It started off with her casually coming home from school, then suddenly she was pressured into coming on a trip to Alola with her childhood friend and a raven haired trainer she rarely talked to. She had come to an unfamiliar region, learning a bit more about the raven haired trainer she knew little about, went to the beach, then to the mall, then got attacked by an unknown monstrosity, she almost died, got saved by the same trainer she thought he wasn't what he seemed, then he got hospitalized after a huge battle, learning in the process that he was the Champion of the region, and after he recovered, they were finally here; Ash still getting crushed by his pokemon, Kukui and Burnet sharing a family hug with their baby and Goh nuzzling his Grookey with the biggest smile on his face she had ever seen. If travelling with Ash and Goh was always this much fun and exciting, maybe she should come with them more often.
As she finished her thought, her eyes then drifted to the Alolan Champion, who had noticed her out of focus state. They stared at each other for a while, both with expressionless faces, until Ash suddenly burst out laughing once again, causing the purple haired girl to join him with a slight blush on her face. She remembered back to when she had first met the Pallet Town native, thinking he was just your regular old battle addict pokemon trainer. She couldn't have been more wrong… and the thought made her laugh even harder.
The End
