Kagome
It had been 9 months since coming to the Feudal Era. There seemed like no end in sight for us. We were holding our own against Naraku. However it seemed some of us were losing hope. Miroku couldn't use his wind tunnel around any of Naraku's spawn. Naraku's venomous bees would appear. We couldn't take that risk. We couldn't lose one of the few people who could help beat Naraku. Then the issues with Inuyasha and I. I had feelings for him, but with him still having feelings for Kikyo I put them aside. I had to focus. I didn't know what my future would hold. How much longer we would be fighting Naraku. I knew how I felt though. I couldn't imagine my life without Miroku, Sango, Shippō, Kohaku, Kilala, Ren, Sesshōmaru, Jaken, and A-un. Inuyasha was tricky. We would still be friends. Maybe we will eventually end up together, but I can't wait for something that might not happen. I sighed as I finally climbed up from the well into the feudal era. I sat on the edge of the well after I took my bag off.
No one was here. It was comforting. The break I took was needed but not nearly long enough, but I was the only priestess who could really do this. I was okay with that. If I wasn't doing this I wouldn't have the family here that I do. People I would risk my life for. People I love and cherish. I looked up at the sky and smiled. I would stay here after we defeated Naraku. I may not be on good terms with Inuyasha, but this is where I belonged. I stood up and picked up my bag.
Then I felt a pull coming from The Sacred Tree of Ages. It was the same energy I felt from the well when I traversed through the present and now. I put my bag down and made my way into Inuyasha's forest.
Inuyasha
I knew the instant Kagome was back. I was irritated because instead of coming back right away she stayed near the well. I knew because I couldn't smell her coming closer. I was anxious to tell her that Kikyo would be joining the group. We needed help. I almost left her be until I smelt her scent getting farther away.
"What is that stupid wench doing now?" I growled.
I ran off towards the well.
Kagome
I normally would wait until Inuyasha was with me. I would also be armed, but I felt this pull while I was alone. There had to be a reason for that. As I stepped into the clearing where I first met Inuyasha, I was surprised. There was nothing here. However I still felt the pull. I stepped up to the Goshinboku tree and pressed my hands against it. I felt it pulsing with life.
Finally, you have answered my call.
I jumped back. I heard a chuckle. Then a figure appeared in front of the tree. It was Inuyasha's mother. I frowned.
"Who are you? That woman is dead? Are you a demon?" I asked.
I heard a chuckle again.
No Shikon Priestess. I am Goshinboku or rather The Tree of Ages as you know in your time.
I was surprised.
"Why are you speaking to me? This is a surprise." I said.
I heard chuckling again.
I have called you here because I or rather someone has asked me to see if you were willing to help with something.
"What more should I be helping with? I have enough on my plate as it is. Who is asking me this? What is it this being has asked me to do?" I asked.
Very smart. You are far smarter than the being has given you credit for.
I narrowed my gaze.
"Clearly. Now what is it they are asking of me? Clearly it has something to do with the fact I can traverse through time. What do they want?" I asked again.
Something wasn't sitting right with me.
Again, you are too smart, Shikon Priestess. They want you to traverse universes. Think of it as a test.
That troubled me.
"Why? Why now? I am already hunting Naraku. I don't have the time or the luxury of completing their request. If I leave now, it could spell disaster for the people I care for." I said.
I no longer liked this conversation.
Careful Shikon Priestess. I can sense the disgust in your voice. You see, it is rare for someone to traverse time and survive. To fit in and find a sense of belonging. Let alone keep their body intact. You are special. So let's call them a higher power, who wants you to try to survive in a parallel universe.
"Can't they wait? Why does it have to be now? It makes no sense!" I said.
How do I put this? They are bored and tired of waiting.
"Bored? They are doing this out of boredom! I have a purpose! I have friends I need to protect! A demon I need to kill so that my friends here are safe. So that my family can live safely in the present without the Shikon Jewel causing issues or demons trying to attack my family! I don't care! I don't care who wants me to be a part of their experiment! My answer is no!" I yelled.
I was furious.
You don't have a choice.
I grabbed a rock and threw it at the tree. The rock was thrown harder with my spiritual power. The face of Inuyasha's "mother" turned to one of anger.
That was uncalled for, Shikon Priestess. Sadly, the choice is no longer yours.
The figure in front of the tree pointed her hand towards me. I tried to dodge. However I was flung backwards.
This isn't a punishment. This is a test. It's also a chance at happiness.
A portal appeared behind me. I groaned once I hit the ground.
Be safe, Shikon Priestess. Daggers for your safety.
Two landed between my legs.
"No!" I yelled.
The portal was gone. I was on the other side of a fountain. On the other side was a building. The sky was blue, but there was a purple haze. I stood up. I picked up the daggers. They were beautiful. They were in sheaths. I pulled one out. The blade was pink. It was also glowing. That made no sense. It seemed to be reacting with my spiritual powers. I sheathed the dagger. My head started to feel fuzzy. The purple haze had gotten thicker. Then I heard panicked steps.
"Run!" I heard what sounded like a female voice.
I turned and saw a white clearly female humanoid dwarf rabbit running towards me. The purple smoke was getting thicker. It was hurting my head. I spread out my reiki.
"Why aren't you running?" She yelled.
She ran past me. I saw what was chasing her. A male wolf. I couldn't tell what his exact species was. His eyes looked crazed. I also saw a flicker. It was a moment of consciousness. Like he was trying to fight his animal instincts. He was looking between me and the rabbit. I could handle him better than she could.
"Get out of here white rabbit! I've got this!" I yelled.
I placed one of my daggers in my bra. I took the other out of the sheath.
"What are you doing? We need to run!" The white rabbit yelled.
I activated my spiritual powers. I looked at her.
"Run! He's been drugged!" I yelled at her.
I didn't have time to make sure she followed directions. I cut my arm. I spread my reiki out purifying this toxin. He was fixated on my arm. He lunged at me. He didn't go for my arm though. He pulled me against his chest. I heard the gnashing of his jaw next to my ear.
"What are you?" He growled.
I rested my forehead on his shoulder and sent a blast of reiki through his body purging the toxin in his body. His claws dug into my back. I flinched a bit. He jerked away from me.
"Oh my gosh. Are you okay? I didn't hurt you right? Oh no I did. I'm so sorry. Here let me take you back to my room and bandage you up." He said.
He was super nervous. He also looked really nervous. I was surprised I understood what he said.
"I don't think that's a good idea. You just about had me for dinner." I said.
"Oh man. I really, really am sorry. I normally, uh, this, um, stuff like this never happens. I'm so sorry." He stuttered.
I healed my wounds.
"It's fine. I'm all healed." I said.
"That's impossible. There's no reason for you to lie." He said.
He was strangely calm again. I didn't understand this wolf. I gathered a ball of reiki in my hand. I held it up next to my face. His eyes went wide. I took a deep breath.
"What are you?" He asked.
"What do you mean? Have you never seen a human before?" A feeling of dread settled on my chest.
His reaction concerned me. He let his gaze drift over my body.
"A human? Where is the rest of your fur? Or even your pelt?" It felt like a bucket of cold water was splashed over my head.
"Oh you have got to be kidding me! They sent me to a world with humanoid animals! I'm going to murder whatever sent me here! Are they trying to get me killed!" I hissed under my breath.
"You're beautiful." I felt my cheeks turn red.
"What?" I asked.
"Oh um, oh no, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean, well I did. You're beautiful, I just didn't mean to say it. Nope that sounds bad. I'm sorry." He mumbled.
"It's fine. I'm Kagome. You are?" I asked, still cautious.
"I'm Legoshi." He said.
