Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Minerva McGonagall cautiously ventured into the Chamber of Secrets the day after students went home for the summer holidays. They went to investigate the chamber and make sure there were no more hidden dangers inside.

Minerva McGonagall was in a dark, dreary tunnel in the chamber, with her wand lit so she could fully see the interior of the tunnel. There was nothing in the tunnel, except for rocks. She turned to leave, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw a dash of color in the tunnel.

"Albus," Minerva called. "I think I've found something." She said. Dumbledore came, and she pointed her wand at the figure she had seen. Wands lit, they approached and saw the form of a young girl, who appeared to be unconscious. She had long, brown hair, and was wearing a scarlet dress. "Who is this, Albus?" Minerva asked. Albus studied her, then responded, "I do not know, Minerva."

After transfiguring a rock into a stretcher, the girl was put on it, with Albus himself picking her up gingerly. He enchanted the stretcher to move on its own, with the direction of his own wand. They exited the chamber and went up to the Hospital Wing, where Madam Pomfrey was stocking the solution that unpetrified the students, cat, and ghost. Her face changed to confusion when she saw the group enter. "Who is this?" she asked. "We do not know, but she was found in the chamber, and seems to have been there for quite some time." Albus told her. The mediwitch came over and started a diagnostic spell.

"What does it say?" Dumbledore asked. Madam Pomfrey's brow furrowed in confusion, and she passed the piece of parchment to Albus. He read it, and his expression was unreadable. "It says this young lady has been afflicted by one of the most ancient, darkest curses known to our world." He said. He showed the parchment to Severus and Minerva, and neither recognized the runes. It appeared the curse was so old, it could only be presented as runes.

They studied the girl, and some time had passed. The sun had begun to set, and the girl began to stir. Her body twitched, and her eyes fluttered open. Minerva was the first to notice and went to stand in front of her. "How, how am I here?" The girl asked. "You're alright. We found you in a chamber, and have brought you here. Does anything hurt?" Minerva asked carefully. She didn't want to startle her. "No." The girl said, sitting up. "But how am I here? Where is my family?" she asked again. "My dear, we do not know. Could you tell us who you are?" Dumbledore asked. "Elizabeth Gryffindor." she said. The four adults stared at her in astonishment.
