New chapter. Sending it early since I might not be able to do so within the next few days. It's my brother's birthday and I'll be busy for that. I am trying a new POV in this chapter. I hope I did alright on this one. Also I am back to using Willow's POV because she's one of my favorite.
Once again special thanks to Zan for being so good with editing this story. I really appreciate her help.
Some of the lines in this chapter comes from the original script of the episode "Lie to Me".
So I will not keep you long and hope you enjoy the chapter.

I was finally able to get Rupert to agree to go out with me. It was not an easy task, especially since the man was as British as it gets. The man just did not know how to have fun.
I passed Buffy on the way out of the library and was about to get back to my office when I overheard Rupert and his Slayer talk about one of the soulled vampires in town.
"Um, I've been doing research on Slayers and claims as it was advised by Darla."
"So, she told you about what happened to Spike and I?" she sounded defensive.
Typical Buffy reaction. I thought.
"Not in too much detail. Just that you have been hearing a voice in your head asking you to claim Spike, correct?"
"Not so much with the asking and more like with the demanding," the Slayer answered.
"Ahem. Yes, I was also informed that it took control over you, and that it attacked him when you were hit by that spell last Halloween."
There was a short pause and I assumed that Buffy was giving Rupert a look because he seemed to continue with his explanation.
"Anyway, I consulted my books on the matter, as well as entries from other Watcher Diaries, and found that this seems to be a natural occurrence for Slayers," Rupert said,. "In my research, I found that several Slayers have had issues in the past with the source of their powers, and then suddenly taking an interest in a demon they had befriended."
"Oh! So, that means nothing is wrong with me. I mean if other Slayers have experienced it then maybe this is just a phase," Buffy commented happily. "How did they get over it?"
"They don't. Eventually these Slayers were forcefully retired by the Council before the affected Slayer can enact the deed with their demon partners," I can hear the grim tone in Rupert's voice.
"Forcefully retired? I didn't know Slayers retired unless they get kil-wait you mean the Council killed them?!"
"That was how it was back in the day. The Council is not as obtuse now as it was back then though. So you have nothing to fear, my dear," Rupert tried to comfort the teen.
But I can tell it was no use. If the lack of response coming from the Slayer was of any indication.
"Buffy, I assure you, I will not be doing anything to betray your trust. I promise you that. I also have not informed the Council. Please believe me, I will make sure that no harm will come upon you because of this."
"And Spike." I heard her say.
"I beg your pardon?"
"You have to make sure that no harm shall come on Spike as well."
"Buffy-"
"No, Giles. This isn't a debate. My Slayer part is acting up and if the Council hears about it, it you will make sure nothing happens to both Spike and myself!"
"I know, my dear. I was not going to disagree with you. I promise that I will not let anything happen to him as well. Darla made it perfectly clear, that should something happen to him, something dire would occur."
I can hear the amused voice coming from the Slayer as she continued to talk to Rupert.
"You mean she threatened you to make sure nothing happened to Spike?"
"Ahem, yes. In a not so subtle way. She informed me that I need to find a way to stop my Slayer from hurting her Childe or she will do it for me and more."
I flinched at that. It didn't sound like something a soulled vampire would say. I did not like where their conversation was going, so I decided to leave, and head towards my office. I thought back on what I heard and I knew that I should report this development to my uncle. He was the one who had insisted that the soul would keep the demon inside these vampires under control. However, if one of the demons can act in such a way, perhaps a better curse should be made.

Willow
I'm nervous.
We are currently in our World History class and I had just passed a small note to Buffy asking her about her talk with Spike. It had been 3 days since the night that I sent her to Spike's house, and I have yet to get any answers about what happened during their talk. I was seriously lacking in the girl talk department.
I felt a piece of paper touch my arm and I immediately knew that Buffy had answered.
"You were right. We both felt guilty about what happened. We said sorry and now we're friends again."
The note said.
I smiled. Little Willow in my head did her own version of a Snoopy dance. I hurriedly scribbled on another piece of paper. I wrote a follow up question for my best friend to answer, as I zoned out on Cordelia's interpretations of Marie Antoinette's life.
"Are you dumping Angel again and will you be getting together with him as you planned last time?"
I continued to listen to Xander correcting Cordy, when I felt a piece of paper against me. I was a bit surprised. I didn't expect to get an answer that fast so quickly.
"No, we're not getting together," the note said.
That was strange. I was so sure that once Buffy apologize to Spike and vice versa, they would get together, like it was in the movies.
"Why?"
I wrote on another note and passed it to my friend. I looked over her I was worried at the sad expression that downed on her face, as she read my note.
The bell rang before I could get an answer though and Buffy was out of the classroom before I could stop her.
Okay. It looks like she needs more best friend quality time to sort out whatever it was that was bothering her. I thought as I gathered my things together and tried my best to catch up with her.
Luckily for me, Buffy didn't really go too far. She was just outside the just vacated classroom standing by the lockers.
"Buffy," I called. I stopped beside her putting my hand on her shoulders. "Are you okay?"
"He said no," I heard her say.
"Wha-"
"Willow, he said no to being in a relationship with me," she continued.
It was then I realized that she was talking about Spike.
"Oh. But why? I so sure he felt the same about you," I stated, feeling extremely guilty for misreading Spike.
"Oh, he said he did feel the same about me," she stated.
Now this was confusing. If he felt the same, why wasn't he getting together with her?
I didn't need to wait long for the answer because Buffy answered for me.
"However, he also said that he didn't want to get in a relationship with me until we find out what is going on with my Slayer and find a way to stop her from talking inside my head. So we can prevent another incident like the one on Halloween."
"Oh."
"Yes. Big major OH! He then started giving me other reasons; like he was too old for me and some stuff about me still being with Angel."
"Well, you are still going out with Angel," I added but immediately knew my mistake.
"That's not the point, Willow. He practically friendzoned me! Like what Joey Tribbiani called Ross Geller's relationship with Rachel Green in Friends!"
"Who friendzoned you?" I turned a bit and saw that Xander had finally caught up with us.
I knew I shouldn't say anything, but I could not stop my mouth from answering my oldest best friend.
"Spike friendzoned Buffy."
"Willow, do we have to be in total share mode?" Buffy said sending a glare at my direction.
"Hey, it's me," Xander pointed out. "If there's a development in the relationship department between one of my best girl friends and my best guy friend, I'd wanna know so I can show my support and threaten the other not to hurt the other."
Buffy and I smiled at this. My excuse, I thought it was sweet that Xander thought of Spike as his best guy friend. He hadn't had one since Jessie. I just wasn't sure which friend he was going to support and which friend he was going to threaten.
We continued to walk and head into the lounge.
"There's no relationship development. Like I said, Spike friendzoned me. Said he would rather be my friend for now than my boyfriend," Buffy said, looking really dejected.
"Wow. Spike, has more willpower than I do," I heard Xander whisper to himself. Before looking energetic and walking in front of us. "Hey! Come on. He said he didn't want to have a relationship at the moment. Not that he wasn't going to have one with you ever. So that means he is willing to have one in the future."
I caught on to what Xander was saying and immediately, I got into the cheer Buffy scene.
"He's right. Spike never said he didn't want to be your boyfriend. He just said that he can't. I mean you just need to get more answers from Giles about the first issue. And as for being too young, hey, you're turning 18 in a year so you'll be considered a legal adult by then!" I added.
"We don't even know if Spike and his family will be staying that long here in Sunnydale. I mean, what if they find a cure for Dru? They could just decide to leave and be heroes somewhere else."
"Aw. Buff, you're thinking too much into this. I mean, Spike's my friend and I can say he was an idiot for declining you. Also, I say, you stop moping and start looking things in a positive light. I mean, you're young and totally capable of looking for a loyal, funny and not a vampire young man who will definitely not say no to you going out with them."
I sent Xander an unimpressed look. Did he really just try to insert himself into Buffy's already complicated love life? I took a seat on one of the couches in the lounge we were in and watched the scene with Buffy and Xander play out.
It did seem like Buffy liked the idea of looking for someone else to be her boyfriend, though it was obvious she completely ignored my oldest best friend's suggestions about him being "the guy" she should be with.
"That's the spirit. I think you just need further cheering up. I know just the thing!" he said and he does a wild move.
"Crazed dance party at the Bronze!" he suggested.
"I dunno," Buffy said crossing her arms, still looking a bit depressed. "I mean, I said I would look for someone, but I think it's too soon, plus I haven't broken up with Angel. Yet."
But Xander was not to be deterred.
"Okay. How about a very calm dance party at the Bronze?"
Buffy's glum look seems to take him aback.
"Moping at the Bronze, then it is. Plus, we'll help you plan how to dump Angel. How 'bout that?"
He then sits on the couch next to me as he waits for Buffy to answer. My blonde friend was not able to do that though since someone suddenly joined in our conversation.
"I'd suggest a box of Oreos dunked in apple juice, but maybe she's over that phase," the boy, whom I have never met before said from behind Buffy.
Buffy on the other hand, uncrosses her arms and turns around to face the stranger.
"Ford?" Buffy said, looking disbelievingly at the guy.
"Hey, Summers!"
They embraced and suddenly I was a bit wigged at the new guy. Who the heck is he?
"How ya been?"
"Oh, my God! What are you doing here?"
They released each other from the embrace and held hands.
"Uh, matriculating," he says.
"Huh?" I was with Buffy on this. Luckily, we didn't have to wait too long for an answer.
"I'm finishing out my senior year at Sunnydale High. Dad got transferred, he explained.
Buffy looked so happy at this. "This is great!"
"I'm glad you think so."
I was not pleased. It seemed that my best friend got over her heartache that easily.
I turned to face my first best friend and it seemed Xander felt the same thing.
"I didn't think you'd remember me," he said. They were still ignoring us.
"Remember you? Duh! We only went to school together for seven years. You were my giant fifth grade crush."
Oh! They were childhood classmates and Buffy also had a crush on him a while ago. Maybe this wasn't so bad after all. I thought, trying to be supportive for my friend.
Unfortunately, Xander had other ideas.
"So! You two know each other," he butt in.
"Oh!" Buffy exclaimed before turning to face us again. "I'm sorry. Um, this is Ford! Uh, Billy Fordham, this is Xander and Willow!" She introduced us to each other.
Buffy and Ford then went to sit on the other couch in front of Xander and I.
"Hi," Xander said sounding upset.
"Hey," Ford responded with a smile.
"Nice to meet you!" I said enthusiastically. Supportive friend, that's me!
"Uh, Ford and I went to Hemery together in L.A." Buffy explained then to Ford she ask, "And now you're here. For real?"
"Dad got the transfer, and boom, he just dragged me outta Hemery and put me down here," he told us.
"This is great! Well, I mean, it's hard, sudden move, all your friends, delicate time, very emotional, but let's talk about me! This is great!" Buffy stated again with a big loopy smile.
I smiled at this. At least she isn't moping anymore. I thought.
To the two, I asked them to verify their relationship.
"So, you two were sweeties in fifth grade?"
Buffy laughed at this then said. "Not even. Ford wouldn't give me the time of day."
Ford looked sheepish at that.
"Well, I was a manly sixth-grader. I couldn't bother with someone that young," he explained.
"It was terrible. I moped over you for months. Sitting in my room listening to that Divinyls song 'I Touch Myself'."
I stared at her thinking about the song. I knew it but it was never a favorite of mine.
Buffy must've realized something about what she just said and cast a nervous look at Xander and I.
"Of course, I had no idea what it was about," she hurriedly corrected.
Ford nervously scratched his temple with his finger and Xander just smiles and nods. It seems I was the only one missing what she meant about that reference.
"Hey, are you busy tonight? We're going to the Bronze, it's the local club, and you have to come," Buffy said.
"I'd love to! But if you guys already had plans... Would I be imposing?" he asked looking pointedly at Xander.
"No, only in the literal sense," my friend answered and I have never wanted to hit him so badly in my life. Stupid guy jealousy.
"Okay, then! I, I gotta find the admissions office," he said as he got up from the couch. "Uh, get my papers in order."
"Well, you know what," Buffy started and got upas well, "I'll take you there, and I'll see you guys in French!"
We watched as she takes Ford's arm.
"It was good to meet you," Ford said as they left.
I took a quick look at Xander and see that he smiles at them until they have completely left the lounge.
I sat beside him with a thoughtful look on my face. Not really listening as my best friend sarcastically insulted the whole interaction between Buffy and Ford.
"This is Ford, my bestest friend of all my friends! Jeez, what happened to it being too soon to look for someone else to replace Spike. I mean, the girl could not get on that Ford train fast enough."
It was in that moment that I realized the answer to what I had been contemplating moments ago.
"Oh, that's what that song is about?!" I said out loud, blushing a bit when I realized I just notified Xander that I wasn't listening to his rambling.

Well that was that. I hope I did alright. Man, I take a break from writing fiction and I have to revisit all my chapters to make sure I am still doing them right. Anyway, I introduced Ford in this chapter and as I wrote him it made me realized that he does seem shady even in the first part of the episode. I didn't put my observations in the chapter though, since I was writing in Willow's perspective. Don't know why I didn't notice that before in the past when I first watched it.
I hope you enjoyed the update. Reviews are appreciated.
