For two days Kagome watched Sesshoumaru try, subtle though he was, to engage the young child, but Rin was having none of it.
She walked ahead. Alone. With Jaken or the dragons. She even chatted with her own friends. But she would barely glance at her protector, and when she did, tears soon followed.
Sesshoumaru was in no better mood.
Feeling for the daiyoukai, Kagome slowed her pace until she fell into step beside him. "A word of advice?"
When he didn't answer, Kagome sighed. "She's a little girl."
A slender brow arched—impatient, waiting.
