"Rin, come."
Kagome remained still, recognizing the authority in Sesshoumaru's voice, but hope bloomed inside her chest.
The girl listened.
"That's a change," Sango whispered beside her.
Kagome nodded, watching while small feet trudged over to their guardian. The daiyoukai sat waiting, face neutral. But when the child—suddenly upset—reached him, things changed.
His eyes softened.
Both women froze as indecipherable tones murmured between the pair. But Kagome recognized Rin's sniffle.
Poor girl.
Or perhaps not. Slowly, his discomfiture clear, Sesshoumaru raised his arms, and Rin blinked before flying into them.
Kagome gasped, her eyes pricking.
He did it.
