I'm drifting in darkness. I could feel something bump into me now and then. I could hear muffled voices.

I'm so tired. Maybe I can get some shuteye...

: :

It feels like time has passed by. Where ever I am it was still dark, but only more cramped. There was something beside me.

'You don't seem harmful. I kinda feel safe and attached to you for some reason.' I held a hand in mine. 'Ah, so you're a person. I don't know who you are, but let's stay close. We'll protect each other from the bad things in the world.'

I felt drowsy again.

: :

Sometimes I thought I heard a heartbeat. I kept trying to guess where I was.

It was only when the thing next to me disappeared and I heard a voice shout "push" did I realize what had happened; I was being reborn. This time around I was going to relive my life as a baby... with a twin no less.

'I never had a twin nor did I have any siblings to grow up with.'

I heard a woman shout "push" and I could feel my body shift.

Someone's hands lifted me. My eyelids were moved upward, which is the standard when checking the baby's eyes, but everything was still dark.

Even though my eyes opened everything was still blank. 'Am I blind?'

"I'm sorry," a woman above shifted my small body. "We have to take her into the next room over Kuroko-San."

"Honey, what...what did she...s-say?" A woman groggily asked. That was the last thing I heard for a while. I was feeling tired, yet again.

'Who the hell is touching my face?'

Sakura thought while frowning. Hands were softly pinching her little arms and cheeks. It was irritating. She wanted to yell at them, but the only noises coming out of her mouth were the cries of a baby.

"Alright, everyone I think that's enough." Mrs. Kuroko stood next to her husband and two babies. "She doesn't seem to like the squishing and touching."

'Thank you, beautiful person!' Sakura mentally praised her rescuer.

"What are their names?" A man in a navy blue suit asked.

Mr. Kuroko gestured to the blue-haired baby. "Meet our son, Tetsuya Kuroko."

Mrs. Kuroko stared lovingly at her pink-haired daughter. "This is our little princess, Saki Kuroko. May she always be reminded that hope will blossom for her in the future."

"Did the doctor give you bad news?" The man asked.

"Dr. Hiroko said they're both healthy, but there was a problem with Saki's eyes." Mr. Kuroko sighed, "she's blind."

A few of their friends were shocked by the news.

"It's alright," Mrs. Kuroko gently caressed her baby's cheek. "This will not stop us from loving her with everything we have. She is a fortunate soul to be born into our family. She will have all of us to cherish and protect her."

'Thank you!' Saki cried.

Five Years Later

August 27th

Parents and teachers alike cooed at the sight of Saki and Tetsuya refusing to let each other go. It was common to see both siblings tightly hugging one another, but it was still too precious. Everyone can see the unbreakable bond between the two.

"Go to your class, Tetsu-chan!" Saki urged him.

"No, Saki-chan needs me!" The little boy grumpily exclaimed.

"It's alright, Tetsuya." Their mother stifled a chuckle. "You will see your sister later in the day."

"But mommy, who's gonna protect Saki-chan?" His lip quivered.

"Saki will be fine my child. We will keep her safe." Mrs. Kuroko reassured her son.

He held some reluctance in his blue eyes, but he chose to let go of the pink-haired five-year-old. He trusts his mother and father have the capability to protect his little sister.

The blue-haired little boy kissed Saki's forehead. He stepped back and waved before turning around.

Saki stared ahead. 'I may not be able to see my twin brother, but I can sense him, and that's enough for me.'

Mrs. Kuroko lifted her daughter off the ground. "Let's go, my little princess."

"Mommy, will Tetsu-chan be okay?" Saki asked.

"I think he will be just fine..." Mrs. Kuroko sweatdropped as she imagined her son pouting all day. "You have Braille lessons today."

Four Years Later

October 15th

Nine-year-old Saki sat on a swing in the park close to her home. She was waiting for her brother to bring some ice cream.

Someone stood next to her.

Saki stared ahead. "Hello, who are you?"

They didn't answer.

"Tetsu-chan, is that you?" She feigned curiosity; she already knew the answer.

The person walked away without a word.

A few minutes later Tetsuya walked towards her with two strawberry and vanilla ice cream cones. "Here," he gave one to her.

Saki frowned. "That wasn't funny Tetsuya."

"What are you talking about?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Don't play dumb! You were standing next to me earlier!" Saki huffed, "I didn't like your little joke. It was creepy when you didn't answer me!"

'That wasn't me...' Tetsuya quickly pulled her off the swing. "Let's go home, Saki-chan." He held her hand as they walked back home.

October 28th

Since October fifteenth Saki hasn't been allowed to go out as much as she liked. After Tetsuya told their parents what had happened near the swings they were strict on her going out of the house.

Today Saki, Tetsuya, and their parents decided to have a family outing. They plan to see a movie, walk around the park, see another movie, and then play games in the arcade.

They were having a great time.

Around nine at night they peacefully walk home.

"Did you both enjoy today?" Their mother asked, smiling happily. Her left hand tightly held her daughter's right.

"Yeah," Tetsuya pumped his fist into the air, "it was awesome! I beat dad in almost everything!"

Mr. Kuroko huffed. "That's because I let you win!"

His wife laughed. "Just admit defeat already, hun."

"Don't worry dad," Saki smiled, "I think you did great."

Mr. Kuroko hugged his daughter. "Thank you, sweetie! At least someone believes in me!"

The family of four laughed. Saki abruptly stopped.

"What's wrong, sweetie?" Their mother asked.

"Is someone staring at me?" She questioned. "It's like I can feel it." It's fortunate that some of her Shinobi attributes followed her into a life where chakra, powerful beasts, and any part of her Shinobi world are nonexistent.

Her parents and brother looked around the half-empty street. Sure enough, a few blocks ahead, a man sat quietly in one of the chairs outside of a cafe. His dark eyes bore onto Saki. Tetsuya held his sister's hand tightly.

"Let's go the other way." Their father advised, cautiously ushering his family in the opposite direction.

"Was I correct?" The pinkette asked.

"Yeah," her brother's curt answer.

: :

"What?!" Tetsuya shouted. "No! You can't separate us."

"We think this is the best for your sister." Mrs. Kuroko tried to reassure her eldest child.

"But-" he was interrupted.

"It's okay, Brother." Saki tightly held his hand in hers. "We'll see each other again. On holidays, over the summer, and who knows, maybe I'll come back after some time."

"Saki," he couldn't believe what he was hearing. His sister would never agree to this. It was as if she were a completely different person.

"The point is, nothing can split us apart forever," she assured him. "I promise."

"Okay," he reluctantly agreed with a frown.
