Hello y'all!

Am I giving you another OS in less that 24 hours? Looks like I am!

This one is the first I added to my French compilation "Royai: Vignettes" last year, after 8 years without adding anything to it. It's been inspired by a headcanon on Tumblr (justroyaiheadcanon, 2nd page): Roy very randomly suggests they get married one day during work. Riza replies with a very curt but very pleased 'yes.' Team Mustang loses their minds.

That's what this ficlet is about.

Just enjoy!

Colonel Roy Mustang signed another file with a tired sigh. This day was never-ending and nothing seemed to work to make time go faster. He'd decided to take care of the paperwork piling up on his desk, since Lieutenant Hawkeye insisted he did that for a few days now. Glancing at his subordinates he saw the same bored look on their face. This day was too long, and the sparse breaks they had passed too fast to his liking. Even Hawkeye seemed tired. Honestly, Roy was ready to give a lot for a field mission, or even a welcomed diversion from these boring files.

At this moment an idea came to his mind. He took a piece of paper, a pen, and skillfully drew a few forms. Drawing circles wasn't hard for an alchemist who knew how to trace them with both hands, on every support and with every means (he'd carved his flame array on the back of his own hand with a scalpel and his left hand). Then he placed the paper in one of the files and called his adjutant.

"Lieutenant Hawkeye, could you take care of this file? I'm done with it."

The blonde woman rose and took the documents he was handing her. She sat back at her desk and began to read them. And Roy could see her freeze, then turn to him with a questioning look. In her hands was the paper he'd placed in the last file. "Colonel, what does that mean?"

Roy smiled. "Lieutenant, will you marry me?"

A thick silence fell in the office. His four other subordinates turned wide eyes to the Colonel, astounded, and unable to tell anything. They weren't done with surprise since Riza replied with loving eyes and a tender smile.

"I will, Colonel."

A sharp cry escaped Fuery's mouth, Falman dropped his pen on the floor, Breda choked on his coffee, and Havoc squished the cigarette he'd planned to smoke on his next break.

"Sir, you've made a mistake on this page," Riza added. She left her desk to give Roy the page.

"Professionalism is your second nature, isn't it?" He asked with a wink as he took the sheet.

"Someone must ensure you don't do anything stupid," she replied, before heading to her seat.

On the page was stuck his drawing of a ring with a message from Riza. Tonight, 20pm, my place. Roy's eyes fell on her, and he was certain his blissful smile found its reflection in the happiness that bloomed on her face.

He noticed the guys still hadn't moved and clapped his hands. "Guy! It's not the time to daydream, get back to work!"

Roy felt a sudden surge of energy. He had to be ready for tonight, and doing his work dutifully was important for that. So he dived on his last files, knowing Riza was looking at him with loving eyes.
