When Rose has transported all of Shredder's belongings, and Shredder himself, to her penthouse, she asks him, "Are you sure you don't want to say goodbye?"

"The note I left is enough. Best to make a clean break."

Rose smiles at him.

"I'm proud of you."

Shredder smiles back, and Rose takes his arm.

"Come on, I want you to meet everyone."

Shredder is nervous, but goes with her. They make their way to the Great Hall, where Rose bangs a large gong. And people begin hurrying in. When they see Shredder, they keep as far away from him as possible.

When everyone is assembled, Rose addresses the room, "You all know who this is. He lives here now, and he's vowed to change his ways."

There's scattered laughter; not very loud, but noticeable.

"Why would he do that?!"

"Because if he doesn't, I will become one of the Fallen."

There are mutterings, some of which reach the couple's ears, "...looks ridiculous..."

"...leopard...spots."

"...dishonour..."

It gets too much for Shredder, and he takes off, but Rose is preoccupied with the crowd and doesn't see him leave.

When Rose finally notices Shredder's absence, she goes straight to the penthouse. In the bedroom stands a man in a suit and hat, with his back to her. He turns, and she sees the metal mask.

"You look amazing, but what are you doing?"

"I have to try to be Oroku Saki, not Shredder."

"I see, but why the mask?"

"I'm not quite ready to give it up yet."

Rose puts her arms around him.

"We'll try again in a while. Don't worry, they'll come round."

"I hope so."

Rose smiles at him.

"Let's go to the garden."

She seeks to calm his nerves. She takes his hand and leads him round, telling him what everything is, and pointing out particular areas of interest.

When Saki is much more relaxed, Rose asks, "Shall we try again?"

Saki removes his mask, kisses her deeply, and says, "Yes, let's."

Back in the Great Hall, things are no better than they were before. Rose tells Saki, "You're going to have to show them you're serious, through your actions."

So Saki begins by helping Rose with her students. They're unsure at first, but soon realise his experience, and begin to listen to him.

After the session, some of the students thank Saki.

"How does it feel?"

Saki beams.

"Pretty good!"

Rose smiles happily.

"It's lunchtime; I like to sit in the hall with everyone..."

Saki is visibly nervous, but nods briefly.

In the hall, Rose seats herself and Saki at a crowded table in the middle. Everyone is nervous, except Rose and a few other women, who gaze at Saki admiringly, even more so when he removes his mask to eat. Rose notices this, spreads her wings, and wraps one around Saki, giving those women a look that says, "Back off!" Saki looks at her enquiringly.

"Just protecting my greatest treasure."

Saki raises an eyebrow, but then catches on, and smiles and kisses her.

Some of the others at the table make an effort to talk to Saki.

After lunch, Rose and Saki teach more students. It goes so well that they teach classes all afternoon. Then comes dinner.

Most of the people at Rose and Saki's table are pleasant towards Saki. Then one of the students takes a seat there. He's large and aggressive, and begins poking fun at Saki and making disparaging remarks. Saki ignores him, but he keeps pushing.

Rose steps in, "Leave him alone!"

"You need a woman to fight your battles for you now, do you?" the big guy asks. Then he continues to push Saki.

"I told you to leave him alone!"

"Or what?"

"This," Saki says, leaping across the table at him, and driving him to the floor. Then they go at it.

Rose tries to break up the fight, but they just fight around her.

Then Ezekiel appears. And the fighting stops abruptly.

Saki, realising what he's done, begs Ezekiel for mercy. But there is none.

"I'm sorry to have to do this Rose," Ezekiel says.

"Please don't," Saki pleads.

But it's too late. Ezekiel reaches out his hand towards Rose, and her wings open. Saki watches in horror as her left wing darkens, becoming first grey, then black.

When the transformation is complete, Rose folds her wings...then grimaces in pain and clutches her left one. Saki hurries to her side.

His work done, Ezekiel leaves.

"I'm so sorry," Saki tells Rose. "I tried."

Rose hugs Saki, and tells him, "I know. It's OK."
