The Calm Before the Storm

Percy POV:

Percy looked up at the throne room and smiled a genuine smile. The war with Gaia was finally over, and although they suffered many losses, Percy and his friends made it through it all. If that wasn't something to smile about, he didn't know what was. Demigods, Gods, Nymphs, Driads, Satyrs, and other mythical creatures were settled in the throne room of Olympus, standing in front of the Council of the Gods. All twelve of them sat in their mighty forms, towering over the spectators.

"Demigods!" Zeus' voice boomed through the hall. He sported his classic toga, with his master bolt not far from his reach. His face twisted into a smile.

"You have done well to win this war. For your repeated bravery and selflessness time and time again, we the Olympian Council have decided to reward the demigods who lead this triumph with partial immortality, and a gift from your respective parents!" The crowd cheered, and Percy had a surprised look on his face. Ol' Thunderpants wasn't one to give out praise to demigods very often. Although he shouldn't have thought it was that strange. After what he and his friends went through they deserved a reward.

"Jason Grace step up!" Zeus bellowed. His form began to change into Jupiter's. Jason, with the encouragement of Piper, stood up to face his father. "My son, for leading the legion to victory time and time again, and persevering through the toughest times, I shall reward you with partial immortality, and a stronger control over the skies, and weather if you accept," Jupiter finished.

"I accept," Jason excitedly shouted, grinning ear to ear. He started glowing white light, and Jason looked down in amazement. He could feel the newfound power coursing through him. When the glowing stopped the next goddess spoke.

"Piper Mclean!" shouted Aphrodite. Piper stood up. "For proving that the child of love is no weaker than the rest of the demigods, and for winning the war along with your friends and significant other, I will grant you partial immortality, and increase your ability to sense and influence the feelings of others. May these powers aid you down the line," Aphrodite said.

"I accept," Piper said proudly. She started glowing a radiant hot pink, highlighting her smooth features. Many of the boys looked her way, their mouths hanging open. Annabeth turned to check if Percy became more focused. He didn't. 'Good' thought Annabeth smugly.

"Leo Valdez," Hephaestus spoke. Leo looked up from his metal doohickey he was tinkering with and stood up. "You have made your old man proud, taming the metal dragon in the forest that no one could, and leading the creation of the Argo II, the warship that led you and the seven on the quest to save the world. I offer you partial immortality, and the ability to superheat your body, and create a higher intensity of flames".

"I accept," Leo said, a massive grin on his face. He started glowing with an orange light, and in a moment it was gone. "Can't wait to fix up Festus and save Calypso," Leo said to himself.

"Frank Zhang!" Ares roared, changing into Mars. Frank stood up. "For helping lead the legion, and showing bravery and leadership throughout your quest, I am removing your curse, giving you partial immortality, and extending your shapeshifting capabilities to inanimate objects as well if you accept".

"I accept," Frank said, pleased. He started glowing red light, and then it faded.

"Hazel Levesque," Pluto spoke, stepping out of the shadows. He tried to put on a mask of neutrality, but you could see the happiness swelling in his eyes. "For helping your friends to victory, and not losing hope in the face of failure, I shall grant you better control of the earth and its minerals, I will remove your curse, and give you partial immortality if you accept," Pluto stated.

"I accept," responded Hazel. She started to glow a dark purple light before it disappeared.

"Thaila Grace!" Zeus bellowed once again. "My daughter, for your part in this war, seeing as you already have partial immortality, I shall grant you higher control over lightning, and voltage if you are to accept," Zeus said.

"I accept," said Thaila, which earned a cheer from the Hunters. She started glowing a light blue. It faded away.

"Nico Di Angelo," shouted Hades once again. Nico got up from his spot in the shadows. "For overseeing the exchange between the 2 camps, and assisting me and others in the war, I shall grant you partial immortality, and increasing your manipulation on shadows and the dead".

"I accept," said Nico, and was rewarded with a black glow that soon disappeared.

"Annabeth Chase," Athena declared. "For your heroism in leading a war against Gaia and winning, as well as helping construct the Argo II and so much more, I shall reward you by increasing your control over your head and allowing you to speak to owls, along with partial immortality if you so wish," Athena finished. Everyone in the throne room could see the pride in her eyes.

"I accept," Annabeth said excitedly. A yellowish light illuminated her body. 'She looks beautiful' thought Percy.

"Percy Jackson," said Posiden eagerly. Percy stood up. Everyone paid close attention. What would the two times Olympus Savior be offered this time? "Percy, your heroism knows no bounds. You have saved the gods' hides more times than they would like to admit". That earned a few chuckles. "Your kind, caring, brave, and loyal, even falling into Tartarus for a loved one, a feat no one can claim to have done, and I couldn't be more proud as a father. For your deeds, I and the council have decided to make you a god, but not just any god, a council member". Everyone gasped. An offer like this had never been made before. Many of the gods looked expectantly. A few campers looked at Annabeth, worried about what her reactions would be. They were surprised, so see a perfectly calm Annabeth. Poseidon started speaking again.

"Though, as I said, you have extreme loyalty and are not likely to leave your friends and family for power, so instead, we offer you one wish, partial immortality, and a gift from me," Poseidon said. Percy grinned.

"You know me too well," Percy said, his signature lopsided grin on his face. Poseidon chuckled.

"Well Percy," Poseidon started, "I offer you partial immortality, and have granted you better control over all liquids if you are to accept,"

"I accept," said Percy wholeheartedly.

"Now, what is your wish?" asked Poseidon. Without skipping a beat, Percy answered.

"I wish for Hestia and Hades to be on the Olympian Council."

"..."

After a moment of silence, the council room erupted. Zeus looked angered, many gods and goddesses looked bemused, and many campers looked astounded, that one that deserved so much gave his wish for the benefit of others. Percy's friends though didn't look too surprised. It was in his nature

"Who are you to decide who is on the Olympian Council the nerve. I out to smite you-" Zeus was interrupted from his rant by Poseiden. "He deserves this much and you know it," Zeus' brother said. Zeus grumbled something incoherent and flicked his wrist. Two new thrones sprouted from either side of the throne. Hestia and Hades walked to their thrones, shooting Percy a grateful look. Percy just nodded.

"Now then we thank all the demigods who made this victory possible, the deceased and living, and hope the dead enjoy Elysium, a place they truthfully deserve," said Zeus. Everyone solemnly nodded. Athena started up.

"The damages done to each of the camps is reversible, and I hope that our architect will do well in rebuilding our homes," Athena said, pride gleaming in her eyes. Annabeth nodded her head. She was ready to get to work.

"Now then, everyone is dismissed". And with that most of the gods flashed away. Hestia and Hades made their way to Percy.

"I don't think I could thank you enough Percy," Hestia started.

"Yes we appreciate it, nephew, I don't know how to thank you," said Hades.

"There is no need. Both of you played a big part in this war, and you were deserving," said Percy with a shrug. Hestia hugged Percy, and Hades gave him a nod, and the two gods flashed out. Percy turned back to his friends and girlfriend. "Well, let's get back to camp". The others nodded, before walking through the big doors

The next year was bliss. Everyone hung out at camp, and Annabeth worked on reconstructing the camps. When Annabeth was gone, Percy worked on improving his powers, and could now harden water to make weapons, and use the moisture in the air to form water. He was excited about his progress but decided to keep it as a surprise.

As Percy laughed and cheered with his fellow campers, he often thought to himself, about how all that pain and suffering was worth it, for these moments. The moments of peace Percy had when he laid down with Annabeth. The moments of joy when everyone hung out together. The moments of tranquility when he watched the leaves on the trees rustle in the wind. ' hope this will last forever,' thought Percy.

But of course, all good things come to an end, and the coming storm of loss, sadness, anger, and betrayal was inevitable.

And it was named Jameson.

(Hello Readers, it is I, the author. I thank you for reading the first chapter and hope you will stick around for more. I will update as much as I can, but I don't really have a schedule. I know the pain of having a fanfiction abandoned, or not completed, so I will try my best to continually update. Stay tuned for Chapter 2: A Kid Named Jameson. In the meantime, I recommend some other fanfiction like my personal favorite, The Returning Legend a Percy Jackson and the Olympians fanfictions by ArcticWolf1996. I think it is really good, so go check it out. Ok then, Goodbye!)
