It was a huge relief for Terry to sit down in the bat-computer's chair. During the seemingly never-ending walk from the gates of the estate down to the batcave, he had almost given up several times. But as much as a desire to rest in a warm bed spurred him on, he was more concerned with getting some answers. The last few hours had been so strange that he had to pinch himself to check if he was dreaming when he made it to the cave. He wasn't. Terry honestly couldn't work out if that was a good or a bad thing at this point - but either way he was determined to find out what was going on.

Terry leaned forward and grabbed a holo-pad from the computer desk, before passing it to Curaré in the chair next to him.

"So, why the change of heart? And why did you come to find me?"

Curaré's eyes quickly flicked down to the holo-pad, and she began writing.

"I need your help. You are the greatest combatant I have ever faced, and if I am to stand any chance in the battle that will soon be thrust upon me, you are my only hope."

"What battle is this? I'm not jumping to be a part of it if the legendary assassin herself thinks she's gonna lose" Terry replied, genuinely curious, if somewhat wary.

Curaré's unflinching expression betrayed no sign of her feelings. But she seemed to start writing more hastily than before.

"The people I work for are hunting me down. They will stop at nothing to see me dead. I need to strike first and bring them to their knees before they destroy me"

Terry raised one eyebrow quizzically, before talking again

"I'm gonna need more proof than your word, but let's just say I believe you for now. Who are these people you're working for? I thought your employers were those other assassins? You know, the ones you've already killed?"

"It is not as simple as that. I only entered the group of assassins in order to earned money for my employers. When I failed to eliminate the DA, I had no option but to hunt down the rest of the group. I returned my employers, and thought that they would have new instructions for me. I was wrong. They were furious that I had jeopardised their income. I was lucky to escape with my life. Now they want their revenge."

Terry sat in silence for a few seconds, contemplating his response. He knew that Curaré could be lying. He knew that there were a thousand other reasons why she would stage this elaborate hoax to get access to Bruce's weapons technology. He knew that doing anything other than attacking and subduing her now came with huge risks. But Bruce had always told him to listen to his gut. And right now, his gut told him that Curaré was telling the truth. Nevertheless, he was tired, and he needed some time to think before he made any decisions.

Terry's voiced softened as he replied

"Listen I'm beat - I need to get some rest and think. You'll be safe here until I figure out what we're gonna do next. You'll have to stay in one of the secure isolation chambers though, and if you're telling the truth, you won't need that sword in there."

Curaré narrowed her eyes slightly, before writing again

"how can I be sure that you will not trap me in there, and hand me over to the police?"

Terry was about to argue back, before realising that she had a good point. As much as he could not trust her, she could not trust him. Then, an idea came to him.

"I'll sleep in there with you. The cells are alarmed, so if either of us tries to open the door to leave, the other will wake up."

Curaré thought about the proposal for a second, before nodding her head silently. She did not welcome the thought of being cooped up in a glorified cage, but she could hardly expect the batman to trust her loose in his cave.
