An Evil Ruler and a Long Lost Brother
Karma POV
Previously:
"What are you doing Bree?" asked Karma. Aubree had a frantic look on her face.
"You need to hide," she said.
"Why?" asked Karma.
"Because they are coming," answered Aubree. Karma started to ask who it was when he heard a knock on the door. Aubree visibly paled.
"They are here".
Present:
Karma had never seen Aubree scared. Sure he had seen her sad, angry, furious, even murderous (never ever flood Aubree's crops) but he had never seen her so terrified. Whatever was on the other side of the door had to have come out of a nightmare.
Karma decided to listen to Aubree's pleas, and vapor traveled to the backside of the house, in order to listen to what would happen, and help Aubree if needed. He saw her open the door, and let in three bulky elves, and a not so bulky elf. The elves had very pale skin, and had pure black eyes, with white pupils. The skinnier one seemed to be giving orders to the bulkier ones. Weird.
He could barely make out what they were saying, but he could make out snippets of the conversation. He heard "owe us" and "your brother", and other nonsensical information. As soon as the visitors left the building, Aubree collapsed and started sobbing. Karma vapor traveled back into the room and pulled Aubree in for a hug.
"Are you ok?" asked Karma, rubbing Aubree back. "And don't try to say yes because the state that you are in would prove you otherwise". Aubree attempted to recollect herself, but couldn't and continued to cry. "Let's get you into bed, ok?" Karma suggested. Aubree nodded and followed her friend to her bed, where she laid down and wrapped herself in her blanket. Karma sat on a chair watching her, waiting to see if she fell asleep. After a while of waiting, Karma fell asleep in his chair, drool dripping from his mouth.
(My first different POV) Aubree POV:
Aubree had just woken up and stretched her arms. Where was she again? 'Oh right, I'm in my bed,' thought Aubree. She looked over to see Karma, nodding of the chair fast asleep, drool dangling from his mouth. Aubree giggled to herself. He looked funny while he was sleeping.
Aubree got up and moved to the bathroom to change her clothes. Once she was done she walked outside. The memories of the previous night were burnt into her brain. How was she going to fix this? She was way over her head and felt like collapsing and just dying right there. But she couldn't. She had to be strong for her. And him.
Aubree shook her head. She couldn't be distracted by negative thoughts. And she definitely didn't want to bring Karma into her issues.
When she first found Karma, lying unconscious on the ground, she thought he was dead. When she learned he wasn't she was very surprised and happy that she didn't have to deal with a corpse.
When she learned that he came from a planet that didn't know about the existence of other life-supporting planets she was confused. There was a lot of mystery behind Karma. He even sounded hesitant about his name, though Aubree decided not to question it.
Then he could use advanced hydrokinesis, and it wasn't even magic. A lot of his life was surrounded by mystery, though to be fair she didn't share a lot about herself either. Aubree did trust him though. She had a feeling that he was a very supportive friend, that would always try to help a friend in need, even if they didn't want to get him involved. That is exactly why she kept her issue a secret. She didn't want to get Karma involved in her personal matter and get him into trouble.
"I can handle this on my own," said Aubree out loud, fists clenched.
"Handle what?" asked Karma stepping outside. Aubree thought quickly.
"Breakfast of course," answered Aubree. Karma's eyes lit up in excitement when he heard the word breakfast.
"You want to handle it today?" asked Karma tilting his head. Aubree nodded. Karma shrugged and started to head to his training spot. Aubree was told about how he was trying to create and perfect a move, and she couldn't wait to see the outcome. As he walked away, Aubree was left in thought. Solomon and his crew had made it clear yesterday that the deadline was in two days. 'Could I really get it to them by then?' Aubree asked herself. She could only try and hope for the best.
Timeskip 2 Days:
Karma POV:
Karma was walking back from his training spot. He was so close to completing his move and was excited to tell Aubree about his achievement. As he headed to the cabin, he realized that none of the lights were on.
'That's strange' thought Karma, 'she should be cooking dinner by now'. He knocked on the door. No answer. Karma vapor traveled into the cabin and looked around. No sign of Aubree. 'Where could she be? If she was going to eat she would have told me' thought Karma.
Karma went to the village and started to ask around, no one had seen Aubree. He went to go ask the village elder, and her answer scared him.
"The dark elves," she replied. "They must have taken her".
"What would they want with her?" asked Karma frantically.
"She must have not made her payment," said the elder sadly.
"Payment for what?" Karma pressed on.
"That's not for me to tell," answered the elder. Karma left the village in a huff, resolving that the villagers weren't going to be much help
Karma sat down on a log and thought. How could he find Aubree? What could he do? Karma jumped up. He knew what he could do. Back on earth in order to find specific people and things, he developed a skill. He called it vapor detection. He could use the water vapor in the air to feel everybody and everything. He couldn't do it on a large scale, but maybe if he was in a large body of water it would work.
Karma's new idea strengthening his resolve, and he made his way to the river near the farm.
At the River:
Karma was sitting in the river, closing his eyes and focusing. His vapor detection was an area around him, and in order to find her, he would need to broaden his search. He expanded his search area.
'Keep searching' thought Karma. He expanded his detection more. He could feel the village, and the villagers, but no Aubree. He broadened his search even more. It was starting to take a toll on him, but he could not give up. This was for Aubree. He expanded his search even more. 'There!' thought Karma. He could feel Aubree's presence. 'Why is she there?' wondered Karma. He noticed more presence in the room. There were three big figures and one small one. 'Probably the dark elves' thought Karma. He felt multiple presences in HOLD UP IS AUBREE IN A CASTLE. He felt the building that Aubree was in. The features all pointed to a big castle, maybe for royalty, but why would Aubree be in there. Karma shook his head, if the people that scared Aubree were there, it probably wasn't for a good reason.
"Don't worry Aubree," Karma said out loud. "I'm coming to help".
Aubree POV
If Aubree said her plan worked, and she completed her mission and went back to the cabin and enjoyed a happy life for the rest of her life, she would be lying. In all honesty, she didn't think it could have gone worse. Those f****** pieces of s*** that call themselves dark elves had come early for their payment and Aubree hadn't had time to prepare. Then when she didn't have the payment, not only did they say that their agreement was up, but they were going to take her as well.
Aubree should have known that they wouldn't have played fair. Why would they when they have the advantages in terms of strength, numbers, and magical power? So now Aubree is stuck, chained to a dungeon wall, waiting for her captors to come and probably end her.
If only she could have said goodbye to Karma. At least he wasn't pulled into this mess. 'I wonder how he reacted when he found out I wasn't at the cabin' wondered Aubree. She shook her head. It didn't matter.
If only she were stronger. Then none of this would have happened. She could be living happily with her parents and her brother. But no. The world loved to take, and it took all of that away from her. She could only hope that Karma would live the rest of his life happy and without regret. A tear fell down Aubree's eye. She settled in her chains, waiting for the inevitable when she heard footsteps. 'Here they come' thought Aubree.
She closed her eyes. She didn't want the last thing she saw was the dark elves' disgusting faces. She waited, ready to hear their terrible cackling. But she didn't, instead, she heard a voice she thought she would never hear again.
"Aubree," asked Karma. Aubree opened her eyes, surprised to see Karma.
"What are you doing here!" she whispered-screamed. Karma looked at her seriously.
"Getting you out of here obviously," he replied. Aubree shook her head, trying to shake away the tears.
"No you can't be here, I don't want you getting hurt, not after what happened to Derion," she exclaimed.
"I am going to get you out of here, whether you like it or not," Karma told Aubree. "I don't know who Derion is, or why you are involved with these people, or anything else but I will help you". Karma walked over, ready to break her chains when they heard footsteps.
"Hide," Aubree told Karma. He nodded and vapor traveled to a safe spot. Aubree faced Solomon, the skinniest of the dark elves that now inhabited her cell. He snickered when he walked in.
"Well well well," Solomon started. "If it isn't Aubree, I see you're finally going to join your family?" The other three dark elves laughed. "What, no reply?" Solomon asked, walking up to Aubree and raising her chin up to make her face him. "It's a shame, a pretty face like yours could have been of great use to me, unfortunately, the king doesn't like citizens who don't pay their fee, so I guess it's bye-bye for you."
Solomon took his hand off of Aubree and snapped his fingers. Dark wisps flew out of his hand and attached to Aubree's neck. They began to tighten, and Aubree was losing air quickly.
'This is it' thought Aubree. 'I guess I'll get to see my family'. She started to cry. 'Derion' she thought. At least she would be able to see her little brother once again.
Bam! An explosion was heard. Aubree looked to see Karma standing next to the unconscious bodies of the three dark elves that were with Solomon.
"What are you doing to my friend?" asked Karma, his eyes resembling stormy waves crashing along the shore. Solomon stopped the choking.
"You want to die to huh?" taunted Solomon. "I guess one more corpse won't hurt".
Karma smirked.
"Just for you, I'll show you the technique I have been working on," Karma told Solomon. He raised his hand up, and made a finger gun gesture, pointing at Solomon. Solomon looked blankly for a second, before laughing.
"What are you going to do?" asked Solomon in between wheezing. "Shoot me with your finger guns?" Karma's smile didn't leave his face.
"What I wanted was something explosive. Something that would blow my opponent away. I finally got the perfect move, and I hope you will help me test out its effectiveness," Karma said. Water started to form on the tip of his finger until it was a small sphere. Karna's finger started to turn red, and the insides of the sphere turned white. "Thank you for testing out Karma's special move, the steam bullet".
Solomon looked at Karma curiously, and before he could say anything, the steam bullet blasted off Karma's finger, and into Solomon's gut.
"Wha-," Solomon started, but before he could finish his sentence, the bullet turned white.
BOOM! The explosion rang out. Steam filled the entire room, protruding from the windows and door, and an unconscious Solomon lay limp, sitting near the cracks in the wall his body made. Aubree swatted away the steam and looked at Karma in amazement.
"Steam bullet, very effective," Karma confirmed. He walked over to Aubree and broke her chains.
"How-," she started, but Karma interrupted her.
"I told you my new move would be awesome, now let's get moving," Karma said.
"Wait!" Aubree said. Karma looked at her confused. "There are more prisoners". Karma thought for a moment.
"The dark elves were taking orders from somebody. Who was it?" he asked. Aubree hesitated. She didn't want Karma risking his life to help her, but it seemed that he was too far down the rabbit hole to come out of this unscathed.
"The king," she told him. "The king has been abusing his power and forcing hefty taxes upon us. He threatened us with the lives of our… the lives of our family. Karma nodded understandingly.
"I'll go take care of it," Karma told her. 'Be careful' thought Aubree, as she went the other direction to find the imprisoned villagers.
Karma POV:
Karma rushed down the hall, taking out the easier guards by shopping them in the neck, making his blows faster using the vapor around him. He finally got to some very big doors. 'I feel a powerful presence in here' thought Karma. He pointed his finger gun at the door. 'Guess it's now or never, thought Karma. A steam bullet formed on his fingertip. 'Boom' thought Karma. He let the bullet go and watched as it demolished the big doors, and covered the room in steam. 'Really gotta hand it to me, this technique is awesome' thought Karma. He walked into the room.
He heard the room in chaos, trying to find out who dared barge into the king's hall. The steam cleared, and in the middle of the room stood Karma, his lop-sided grin evident on his face.
"Who here is the king!?" screamed Karma, awaiting his answer. A big buff man that sat on a big throne in the middle of the room stood up.
"Guards!" he screamed, and many elven guards blocked his pathway to the king, armed with spears. Karma yawned.
"I guess a warmup would be good," he charged at the guards. He dodged the first spear thrust, and punched the guy square in the nose, knocking him out. He flipped over the second guy and threw a moisture spear at him, impaling his leg.
The rest of the guards charged at him. He flipped over all of them, using the vapor in the air to propel him further, and pointed his finger gun at the crowd of guards. "Boom," he said, letting loose another steam bullet, incapacitating his enemies. He looked at the buff guy that ordered the guards.
"I'm guessing you're the king then?" Karma asked. The king looked angered. "Well then, let's play". And with that, Karma charged at his enemies, ready to fight.
