Searching for the Sword

Vivian POV:

Previously:

Vivian pulled out her sheet on the mysterious Karma and slammed the table. There was nothing on him. No records of transport to Willow's Valley, and no signs of anyone named Karma, especially not ones that could do what the villagers said he could. 'Lookout Karma, cause I will find you' Vivian said with determination.

Present:

Vivian trudged down the castle's corridors, looking at the many different pictures, and paintings, of her, her dad, and the commanders. She smiled. It was a nice way to live that's for sure. She walked out of the corridors into the meeting room, where every chair but three were filled.

Vivian sat down in the main seat, her father, Chaos, nowhere to be seen.

"Has anyone seen my father?" Vivian asked, seeing as it was a routine at this point. She heard a collective of no's and sat down groaning.

"Why does he never show up?" she groaned. Dakota chuckled. "I always wonder where you got your dependability from, seeing as your father doesn't have any," he said. Vivian just shook her head and pointed her hand at the chair next to her. A black aura started to surround her hand, and many different colors of light swam in the darkness. The aura spread to the empty chair and opened a portal right above it. As soon as it formed, the primordial of the universe himself fell through it and landed on his chair.

"Huh," he yelped in surprise, before noticing his surroundings. "Whoopsie," he said, trying to play innocent. Vivian gave him a glare. "I swear you have your mother's glare," Chaos said shuddering. Vivian, looking satisfied, turned around to face her commanders.

"Hello commanders of the chaos army," she said.

"Hello princess," they said back. Vivian sighed.

"Why are we even using formalities?" she questioned.

"Probably so we seem professional," a man in the back shouted, causing the rest of the commanders to bust out laughing.

"I guess we do have to seem professional, seeing as we are far from it," Vivian said sighing. "Alright back to business". The room quieted, awaiting Vivian's next words.

"Does anybody have anything to report?" she asked. The man in the back that had made the last joke raised his hand. "Yes Ashen?" Vivian questioned. Ashen stood up and grabbed some papers he had been holding.

"The beastman conflict on Voorist has been resolved, and they won't be going to war. They have settled a peace treaty, so I will be taking our troops off of the planet, and back to Origin," he concluded. Vivian nodded thoughtfully.

"Thank you for the report Ashen," she said. Ashen nodded.

A hooded figure in the back of the room stood up.

"Yes Sentience?" Vivian asked.

"The war between earthborn and windborn is almost over. The remaining troops are dying out, and our troops should be able to head back home soon. I shall participate in the battle, and take care of the wind god," Sentience said in her monotone voice. Vivian smiled.

"Thank you again for your hard work," Vivian said. She looked around and noticed how no one else was raising their hand.

"It seems that is all we have for reports today, I guess I should start with the meeting then," Vivian said. She waved her hand, to create another portal above the table in front of her. Out dropped a stack of papers. She grabbed them and tossed them over to Dakota.

"The planet of Crysogenis is experiencing a major pandemic, and it has an unknown source. I'd like it if you could go there and resolve the issue for us," Vivian said to Dakota. Dakota sighed.

"I really wanted to finish my new Gatling modification too. Oh well. Your wish is my command princess," Dakota said, standing up and giving Vivian a salute.

Another stack of papers fell out of the portal. This time she handed it to a big figure in the front.

"Nyle, I'm giving you a monster-hunting assignment. There is a huge land beast terrorizing Ifris. Can you take care of it?" Vivian asked. Nyle smiled.

"I can do that," Nyle said.

One more stack of paper fell onto the table. Vivian split the stack into two and tossed them towards two people.

"Mariya and Silk, you guys are going to go assist the kingdom of Marlon in their upcoming war. I expect great things from you two," Vivian said. The two girls smiled.

"Whatever we can do for you princess," Mariya said.

"And with that, this meeting is adjourned".

The commanders all got up from their seats and left the room. Vivian began to leave, before noticing Mariya was waiting for her.

"Where is Silk, you guys are working together?" asked Vivian.

"I told her I would meet her there, I wanted to talk to you first," Mariya confessed. Vivian nodded, before motioning Mariya to join her while she walked.

"Any luck on finding that guy?" Mariya asked. Vivian shook her head.

"No luck," she replied glumly. She really thought she would be able to find him on her own, but there was no information she could find on him.

"Are you going to go to the information department? Sage would be a big help," Mariya recommended. Vivian let out a sigh.

"I guess I will".

Karma POV:

Previously:

"Thank you again, for helping us out," Indigo said. Karma smiled.

"No problem he said," he said, as he walked out of the barrier, and into the ocean. He looked at the paper Blake had given him and remembered one of the places from when he looked at the train station. 'Guess I'll head there first' Karma thought to himself and closed his eyes to use Planetary Vapor Travel. 'New adventure here I come' he thought to himself, as he converted himself to water vapor, and traveled to his new location.

Present:

Karma had traveled to the first location that Blake had marked down. It was on a planet called Sorian, and Karma was told to try to talk to an information broker in the bar. 'Why is it always in a bar' wondered Karma, as he opened the doors, hoping to not have to knock out some conceited jerk like the last time he entered one of these.

He walked inside and awed at the bar. It was dark, with multi-color lights swimming around the area, illuminating things just enough so you could see. People were dancing and partying, and drinks were being served out every second. 'This place isn't half bad' Karma thought to himself. He looked at himself. When he became immortal, he stopped aging, but because his 'dad' broke his limits, he could freely manipulate his age, from the time he became immortal, sixteen, to the age he was now twenty-three. He quickly located a bathroom and went inside. Once inside, he closed his eyes and concentrated. When he opened them, he looked twenty-three.

He gasped at his new figure, and chest hair, and oh. His brain stopped when he pulled the waistband of his shorts to have a look inside. Karma snapped out of it and shook his head. This was no time to look at his now more developed, *cough *cough, trunk. He had an information broker to question.

He left the bathroom and pulled out his sheet of paper.

"En-e-Endis C-c-c-or-Core, Endis Core," Karma read aloud, proud that he could read the words despite his dyslexia. He looked up at the crows. 'I guess I should start asking around'.

Karma walked up to a young woman that looked to be in her mid-twenties. She was drinking a colorful-looking drink and seemed to be relaxing by herself.

"Excuse me," Karma said, walking up to her. She looked up.

"Yes," she asked.

"Do you know where I can find an Endis Core?" Karma asked. The woman looked questioningly, before pointing the hand with the drink toward a booth that was hidden by curtains.

"He should be over there, who's asking?" the woman asked. Karma smiled.

"Just someone looking for some info," he said, before walking away.

He reached the booth, and opened the curtains, to reveal two muscular men in suits standing beside a more skinny-looking man with a more fancy-looking suit. He was in the middle of a conversation with another person when Karma entered. The muscular men, who Karma assumed to be bodyguards, and the two other people looked to see Karma before the two other men continued to talk to each other.

"Would that be all Claron?" the man in the middle of the bodyguards asked. Claron nodded.

"That would be all Endis," he replied, before walking out of the booth, and back into the party.

Endis, now done with his business with Claron, looked toward Karma.

"I assume you're here for some info?" Endis asked grinning. Karma walked further inside and sat down on the chair in front of Endis.

"You are correct," Karma replied. He grabbed his piece of paper that Blake had written on and handed it to Endis.

" My name's Karma. A friend of mine told me that you would have the location of something I'm looking for".

Endis examined the paper.

"Blake huh, I haven't spoken to him in a while. I guess if you're a friend of his, I can listen to your request," Endis decided. Karma smiled.

"So, what are you looking for Karma?" Endis asked, handing the piece of paper to one of his bodyguards, who promptly got rid of it.

"I need to know the location of the sword of Impurity," Karma told him. The three men looked at Karma shocked for a little, before busting out in laughter.

"Blake is always friends with the weird ones, listen kid I don't know who you are but the sword of Impurity is no joke, just as the sword of Purity. I don't know what Blake told you, but I'm not sending someone as young as you to their death," Endis said shaking his head.

Karma shook his head in shame, before standing up. Endis looked at Karma confused. Karma reached his hand on the back of his waist where his sword laid and grabbed the hilt. The bodyguards noticed this and walked in front of Endis. Karma unsheathed his blade, and set it on the table, before sitting back down. The bodyguards went back to standing behind Endis. The man himself looked at the sword in front of him, before choking on his spit.

"I-i-i-i-is that the sword of Purity!?" Endis stuttered, surprised. "How does a kid like you have it?" he questioned. Karma shrugged.

"Aren't you the one who is supposed to be answering my questions?" Karma asked, sheathing the blade. Endis collected himself while looking around. He looked at his two bodyguards.

"Otis, Reca, step outside for a second," Endis told his bodyguards. The two looked confused, before complying with his wishes.

As the two of them left the booth, Endis looked toward Karma.

"Seems like I can't judge you by what meets the eye," he said sighing. Karma chuckled.
"The universe is a strange place," he said shrugging. Endis looked at, before grabbing a piece of paper and scribbling down something.

"Meet me at this location at midnight, we can't discuss this here," he said while sliding the paper towards Karma. Karma grabbed the paper and pocketed it.

"You can come back in," Endis called, as his two bodyguards walked back in.

"I will see you there," Endis said. Karma nodded, before walking out of the booth.

Karma walked out of the bar. He couldn't do anything about the Impurity sword until midnight, and it was the evening, so Karma had plenty of time. He looked at his sheathed sword. He had recently gotten the purity sword, but he hadn't figured it out that well, so he figured that now would be as best a time as ever to experiment with it.

He walked around the streets of Sorian, before walking into an alley, and vapor traveling away. He reappeared in an open field, with no one in sight. He pulled out his sword and studied his sword. So far, the only thing he had done with it was cut that huge monster of purity in half. He closed his eyes and collected water around his sword.

The sword started to glow a light green, and the water turned a light green, before coating the sword, extending the blade. Karma looked at the blade, before slicing it around, and getting a feel for it. As he tested it out, the sword shifted, balancing for him. He swiped it again. 'It perfectly fit my balance, neat' he thought to himself.

While testing out his sword, he realized that he could use the attribute of purity without welding the sword. 'I could incorporate my sword's attribute into my steam bullet' Karma thought to himself excitedly. The sword he had opened up so many more possibilities for moves that he could use. 'Time to get to work' he thought to himself.

It was almost midnight, and Karma walked the streets of Sorian, going to the location that Endis had set for them. As he got to the location, he saw Endis standing there patiently. Karma walked up to him Endis and waved.

"Good to see you kid," Endis said.

"Good to see you too, but may I ask about all the people I can sense?" Karma asked, looking around. Endis laughed.

"Of course the wielder of the sword of purity could not be fooled by such a trick," Endis said, shaking his head sadly.

"These are just my bodyguards, in case something were to happen," he reassured. Karma moved his hand away from his hilt.

"Ok then," Karma said.

"Now let's get to business," Endis said, pulling out a picture. He handed it to Karma, who took it.

"That is Orka, he has been killing some of my info gatherers, and his gang has been terrorizing the people of this planet. If you can take care of him, I'll tell you the location of the sword of Impurity," Endis told him. Karma looked up.

"You want me to be a hitman?" he asked. Endis shook his head.

"This man has also been killing innocence as my info is gathered, but the people in charge turn a blind eye. We are just taking justice into our own hands," Endis reassured. Karma nodded.

"I'll get this done," he said, before mist traveling away. Endis smiled.

"Definitely a weird one," he decided, before leaving the meeting spot.

(Don't worry, you don't know her) Savannah POV:

Savannah clenched her eyes shut, hoping that she would open them and see that she was back in her house, in her bed, and that this was all just a nightmare. Sadly, when she opened her eyes, she was still in the back of the car, along with her little brother, and the other unfortunate people that owed Orka money.

She heard her little brother, Chris, sniffle. She turned to him.

"Don't worry Chris, we'll get out of this, I know we will," she told him with fake confidence. She wasn't so sure if they were going to make it out. She had a friend who was killed by Orka's gang, and she was sure that the same might happen to them.

She held back her tears because someone needed to be strong for Chris, and she was going to do it. The car bumped down the desolated path, and Savannah could hear the drivers talking in a different language. 'Great' she thought glumly.

The car soon came to a stop, and the drivers got out. Savannah struggled in her constraints, and she could feel a loose part. She started to move more before she heard the trunk doors open, and the men that had taken them came into view. Savannah hid her wrists, deciding that she would run at a different point.

"All right, get out!" one of the men yelled, ushering out the prisoners. Savannah got out, right in front of Chris.

"Chris, just don't act out, I will get us out of here," Savannah whispered to her brother. He nodded meekly, before getting out of the car. The prisoners walked with their captors to an abandoned warehouse. 'This isn't looking good' Savannah thought to herself.

When they got inside, the men forced the prisoners to sit down. Savannah sat down next to Chris. As all of the prisoners sat down, Savannah looked around. She couldn't see a lot, so she didn't know where any escape exits were. Her head quickly turned as she heard a loud thump. The color drained from her face when she saw who made the noise.

Right in front of her was Orka himself, standing eight feet tall, and had rippling muscles, Orka was a terrifying sight. He was a beastman and looked a lot like, you guessed it, an orca. He had a fin of his back and razor-sharp teeth. He was wearing a white suit, with a black-tie and undershirt. He had sharp claws on his huge hands. Orka shook his head sadly.

"This is definitely upsetting, I really didn't want to do this," he said, continuing to shake his head.

"All you had to do is pay us for your protection, how hard could that be?" he asked.

"And now, I have to kill you to set an example". The room froze. You could have heard a pin drop. Savannah continued to try to get out of her restraints and succeeded. She then started to work on Chris'.

"I really didn't want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice," Orka said. The muscles on his arm started to move, before busting out of the sleeve of his suit. He clenched and unclenched his fist.

"If only you paid us, then this wouldn't have had to happen," Orka said. He raised his hand to the women in front of him. He brought down his hand, but before he could land his fist Savannah got up, grabbing Chris, and made a dash for the door. Orka looked up to them and disappointedly shook his head, before dashing toward them.

Savannah was inches from the escape, before being roughly grabbed, and tossed across the room. Savannah cried out in pain as she hit the wall, leaving a dent in it. She rubbed her side. She had fractured a bone. Savannah coughed up blood, and tears started to run down her cheek as Orka walked up to her.

"Oh well," he said to himself as he raised his hand up, ready to bring it down on her. Savannah closed her eyes. 'I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to-' but Savannah didn't finish her sentence before she heard an explosion. She opened her eyes to see a figure in front of her.

Savannah looked up to see a hole in the ceiling. 'Huh,' she thought to herself, before setting her eyes back onto the mysterious figure.

"Who are you?" Orka questioned.

"It doesn't matter," the man replied, looking up at Orka with an intense glare.

"Might I ask what you are doing here? This is a private business," Orka asked.

"I'm just here to kill you," the man told Orka. Savannah was amazed. The man didn't even look scared as he told the beastman, several feet taller than him, that he was here to kill him.

Orka chuckled to himself.

"Guess I will have to kill more people than planned," he said looking to the side. Before Savannah could blink Orka swung his hand at the man, his bloodlust evident. Savannah closed her eyes, awaiting the splatter of the man's guts as he took the impact. But it never came. Savannah looked, and almost called out in surprise as she saw the man still standing there, a glowing green sword in hand.

Next to her was the severed hand of Orka, dripping blood from the wound. Orka looked up at his hand, and his eyes widened as he realized that his hand was missing. The man ran his hand along the blade, the blood on it jumped off it.

"Guess this will be easier than I thought it would be," the man said as if he was disappointed. Orka staggered back.

"Men!" he yelled, and his subordinates surrounded the man, while Orka clutched the stub on his arm, to try to prevent the bleeding. The man grinned.

"Try me," he told them. The men charged, brandishing a variety of different weapons. The man took care of them with ease, quickly slicing them up with his sword.

As soon as he decapitated the last guy, Orka quickly dashed towards the man, holding his hand up, before smashing the spot where the man stood. The ground dented, as Orka's fist dented it. Orka looked up in surprise at the lack of bone-crunching and realized the man had disappeared. Before he could do anything, a sword was shoved through his chest.

Orka coughed up blood and turned his head to see the man, sword in his hand, his eyes glowing green. The sword glowed, before a green liquid erupted from it, slicing up Orka further, and causing him to bleed more. The liquid surrounded the weapon, expanding the blade.

"Who are you?" Orka asked as he spewed out blood.

"Your judgment has been served," the man said, ignoring Orka's question. The gang boss fell to the ground dead, blood pouring all over the floor.

The man removed his sword from the corpse, and cut off the head of Orka, before shaking the blood of his sword, and sheathed the blade. He turned to look at Savannah and began to walk toward her. Savannah was scared. Was he going to kill her too? The man knelt in front of Savannah and rested his hand on her wound. The sword on the back of his waist began to glow green from the sheath, and the green liquid began to form around the man's hand. The liquid went into Savannah's wound, and she winced as it moved around her body.

The man withdrew the water, which was now a darker color. Savannah was surprised to see she felt better.

"I've done as much as I can to heal you, but you still need to see a professional," the man said, standing up once again. He turned to Chris.

"Start helping me untie the captives," he told him, before turning to the prisoners. He took off the rope restraining everyone, as Chris helped.

After everyone was freed the man looked up.

"Well, I better go then," the man decided.

"Wait!" Savannah yelled, slowly getting up.

"Who are you?" The man looked toward her and grinned.

"Karma," he told her before suddenly disappearing. Savannah walked to Chris and propped herself against him.

"Thank you Karma," she said, tears streaming down her face.

"Thank you!"

Karma POV:

Karma vapor traveled to Endis, who jumped at Karma's sudden appearance.

"Is the job done?" Endis asked. Karma replied by setting the severed head of Orka next to him. Endis smiled.

"Good, the oaf had it coming," Endis said, before grabbing a piece of paper and writing down something.

"This is the last known location of the sword," Endis said, handing Karma the paper. Karma looked at the paper and nodded.

"Nice doing business with you," Karma said, holding out his hand. Endis took it, and the two shook his head. Karma stood back, and vapor traveled out of the room. 'Time to get the other sword' Karma thought to himself.

(Hey guys, thanks for reading chapter 14 of A New Light. We are about to start the Sword of Impurity Arc, so I'm ready to give it my all. My storyideacreatorhelperdude friend and I have been talking, and I have solidified what will happen here. By the way, I think it is kinda insane that we reached 7k as I posted this chapter, which is pretty cool if you consider that we reached 2k on chapter 8. As per usual, I thank you for reading this chapter, and I hope you stay tuned for chapter 15, Plagued with Grief.)
