(Sofia POV)
I quickly packed up my bags and ran out to the coach. Amber was going to stay behind and work with some friends so I could go straight to the Corinthian Sports Academy. I double checked my bag to make sure I had my Enchanted Ice Skates. I was meeting up with my best friend like we did every day and I couldn't wait to see him.
We had grown a lot together over the past few years after we graduated from Royal Prep. When we realized that we were going to different schools we made a promise that we would always find time for each other and years later we still kept it. I just wish he'd see me as more than a friend. I keep trying to see if something is there and am infinitely trapped in the friend zone.
We landed by the front entrance and I saw him waiting for me, "Hi Hugo." I said as I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder. He goofily bowed, "Princess Sofia." He knew how to make me laugh. He held out his hand and helped me out of the coach. "You look lovely today," he said jokingly. It still made my heart skip a beat. I just wish he would give me more, "As do you..." I let go of his hand and went into a curtsey, "Prince Hugo." We both laughed and Hugo took my bag. "Shall we?" He asked. I nodded and walked over to the ice rink.
I got changed into my ice dancing clothes and we both laced up our skates before going out onto the ice. We went out into the middle of the ice. "Sofia you have to see this new move we learned today," Hugo said excitedly. He left me in the middle of the rink and skated to one of the sides. He skated smoothly on the ice and began to spin until he had one leg out and both hands holding onto it. He then began spinning into the air and flipped out of it landing next to me. "That was amazing Hugo," I said. He played it off like it was nothing.
We continued skating around talking about everything and nothing. That was something I loved about the time we spent together, it always felt so easy and natural. Don't get me wrong we didn't always agree with one another but it never felt forced. We skated until both our feet were sore and it was time to head home. "I had a great time today," I said as I climbed into my coach. Hugo smiled at me, "Same time tomorrow?" He asked it like it was a question but he knew the answer. I nodded, "Tomorrow."
(Hugo POV)
I anxiously waited for Sofia to arrive. I knew that she came everyday but I was always nervous that she would change her mind. I saw her coach fly in and I smirked to myself. How does she always look so perfect? I mused to myself. "Hi Hugo," she said. I went down into a bow hoping for a laugh, "Princess Sofia." As she laughed something warmed from deep inside of me. I looked up at her and knew I had to say something, "You look lovely today." That wasn't the adjective I wanted to use: breathtaking, stunning, beautiful... None of them felt like enough but she seemed happy and that was all I wanted. I held my hand out and helped her out of her carriage, "As do you" she went into a curtsey, "Prince Hugo." I laughed as she continued the joke. I saw her bag and decided to take it, "Shall we?" I asked. She nodded and together we walked toward the ice rink again.
She went off to change and as she came out we both laced up our skates. I guided her to the middle of the ice. I needed to do something to impress her, I thought. The new move, I thought. "Sofia you have to see this new move we learned today," I quickly said. She smiled at me as I skated to the side and nodded encouragingly.
I took a deep breath and began to build speed before it started to spin. I went down to my leg and was spinning faster and faster until I had started flying off the ice. I stayed spinning for a moment keeping an eye on Sofia so I wouldn't get dizzy and went into a slip landing next to her. "That was amazing Hugo," she exclaimed. I decided to play it cool, "It isn't too hard to learn, I'm sure you will master it soon too." I said. We continued skating around and continued talking. There was never an awkward silence or a moment to be bored when I was with Sofia.
I watched as the sun started to set and knew that Sofia had to head home before it got too dark. We took off our skates and walked back to the front of the school where her coach was waiting. "I had a great time today," Sofia said, turning to me from inside her coach. I smiled up at her, "Same time tomorrow?" I asked. She nodded her head, "Tomorrow." She spoke it like a promise.
I went home soon after her and Axel was there waiting for me, "So you spend all your time with your girlfriend again?" He asked in his mocking sibling tone. I rolled my eyes and continued walking, making sure to say, "We are just friends." I could hear him laughing as I closed the door. I hung up my skates and thought about how Sofia first encouraged me to get involved in Enchanted Ice Dancing. She was a really great friend. I just wished she would let me be more. I laid down in bed trying to think of what we could do tomorrow because she always promised me that we had tomorrow.
