I've always kind of wanted to do an MHA fanfic, and here we are. I have been not writing since 2017, only returning now. Hopefully, my passion is reignited, we'll see I suppose. Anyhow, this is the first chapter of my brainchild. You may think you know what this is all going to be, trust me... you do not.
Anyhow, let me know if you guys enjoy it or not down in the reviews.
Disclaimer: Alas, I do not unfortunately own this franchise.
Amalgamation
In a dimly lit room, several figures sat in front of multiple monitors. They were the teachers of U.A. high, the most prestigious heroics academy in Japan... and one of the best in the entire world. They were discussing their future students, the ones who had been accepted in the heroics course after their exam. The prospects were bright.
"We have several bright candidates," The small figure of the Principle spoke, "Candidates shining in their unique ways. Highlighting resourcefulness, vigor, stealth, intelligence, compassion..." The Principle listed as clips of multiple students were shown on screen. Some of them were using objects discarded by broken robots to take other pointers, some were simply physically fit enough to fight directly like a boy with engines on his legs... one, in particular, was attacking weak points on the machines using her invisibility. Her clip was shown in infrared, others were shown to be helping their fellow students like two girls, in particular, one with big hands and one who had vine for hair.
"We seem to have a real promising crop this year," A teacher named Ectoplasm pointed out in a lazy voice.
"That one," The bulking figure of Vlad King spoke gruntingly, "Bakugo Katsuki, 77 total points. He took second place without a single rescue point. Highest villain score in this exam."
"Indeed, yet his expression worries me... he seems... to be enjoying himself a bit too much." A teacher named Midnight countered.
"We cannot hold that against him," The Principle interjected, "After all, it is not always the young ones get to stretch their Quirks like this. As teachers, it is our job to put the children on the right path." Without waiting for further discussion, the Principle moved forward, "And here we have our number one from the exam... Midoriya Izuku. 90 points in total, 50 villain points, and 40 rescue points."
"It has been a while since we had someone take on the zero-pointer." A small old voice spoke for the first time.
"Especially one that could take the thing down." Another teacher interjected excitedly.
"I take it that does not happen often." A gaunt man by the name of Yagi Toshirnori spoke, he had stayed quiet for the most part since he was a new teacher and didn't wish to attract much attention. However, his eyes seemed to linger on the two girls helping other students more than they lingered anywhere else.
"I could count the times a student took out that thing on one hand." Midnight snorted playing stretching her arms.
"I believe we've never had someone take on that thing successfully with a fire-quirk," Recovery girl pointed out with a thoughtful expression non her face. "Speaking off, I don't think U.A. has had a student with such a powerful fire Quirk since Endeavor."
"Funny you should speak of it," The Principle laughed in a shrill voice, "Endeavor's son has passed the recommendation exams and was placed in the same class as young Midoriya. I wonder how they would interact."
"Yes, they do have the same Quirks probably." A teacher named Present Mic mentioned.
"Wrong," The Principle smiled, "I can imagine why you'd think so but you'd be wrong."
Seeing that the Principle had no intention of explaining further, Vlad King coughed gruffly, "I had something I have been wanting to ask sir, regarding the class placements. Traditionally speaking; the First and second-ranked students from the entrance exams are separated between class 1-A and 1-B... but this year, you have decided to place them both in 1-A?"
"Ah, a valid concern," the Principle hummed, "I decided to make an exception this year because Midoriya and Bakugo are from the same school, the same class, and the same neighborhood. Based on my understanding, they are both childhood friends, and it seemed a bit counterproductive to split up what may very well be a future Hero duo. I hope that answers your concerns?" A stiff nod was his only answer, it was clear to everyone involved that the homeroom teacher of class 1-B wasn't particularly pleased with the arrangement.
"Very well, if that is all, let us call this meeting to an end."
'What if they have found out who I am? What if they throw me out? What if they have found out that other thing I do at night? What if they arrest me? What will happen to mom if they throw me in prison? Maybe they'll force me to work for them?'
He slapped himself on both cheeks and took a deep breath. It'd all work out, it always does. It was just stress talking, who would even know? He had his story, he had his Quirk that did resemble his parents, there was Kacchan to back his story as well, and they had the footage from the entrance exams too.
'Really, there is no reason for them to doubt me... why would they? Izuku assured himself, 'even if they did somehow for some reason doubt me... I doubt they'd just instantly assume that I can steal quirks.'
Right, no need to be nervous he assured himself. He was just a regular kid, slightly short for his age maybe, a bit more physically fit than some may expect but this was the Hero Course, no one would doubt him for being prepared.
He grabbed the door and yanked it open... a bit harder than he wanted, given how loud the noise was and how everyone turned in his direction. He fidgeted a bit, note to self, Izuku told himself, learn to control your passive strength quirks. "Ummm, hello?"
"Deku! where the fuck have you been?" Bakugo's voice rose above the rest. Bakugo was very distinctive, both in mannerisms and personality. Even his appearance was wild like his quirk, spiky ash-blond hair, and red eyes. In retrospect, Bakugo's quirk made sense given his personality and general appearance.
"I was out for a jog, Kacchan," Izuku replied before strolling into the room, he took a seat beside Bakugo. Their relationship was interesting, to say the least. They were friends, that much he was sure of... they had known each other since nursery after all... but they were also rivals in Bakugo's mind. The blond had gotten his Quirk quite early, and it was honestly a powerful Quirk... then everyone told him how special he was. Izuku suspected that is where Bakugo's ego problem had developed... then Izuku had developed his Quirk and things changed.
"Liar," Bakugo barked, "I went by your house this morning and your mom told me you have been out all night."
"Oh, yea, I couldn't sleep, I was too excited for our first day." Izuku smiled, "I went to the gym and the beach to cool off." Only a half-lie, Izuku could tell Kacchan didn't believe him. It made him nearly sigh, Kacchan's intuition would one day get him in trouble. 'oh boy ' Izuku prepared himself as he saw a familiar face approaching.
"Remove your feet from the desk this instant!" The same guy who ranted at him during the exams ordered Katsuki. "That's disrespectful towards our upperclassmen and the school!"
"Eh?" Katsuki turned towards the stiff taller student, "You fucking with me?"
"What horrid language!" The taller teen noted with a scandalous tone, "Let's start again, My name is Iida Tenya. I come from Soumei Private School."
"Soumei?" Katsuki frowned, "You're a damn elite then, I gotta blow your ass up definitely." In translation, I'll do better than you in this school. "Deku, let's blow this fucker up!"
"Ahh, no thanks." Seriously, he didn't want to make enemies on the first day.
"Blow me up?" Iida recoiled, "Such cruel language, Do you really intend to be a hero?!" Katsuki merely scoffed in annoyance causing the glassed teen to turn his attention towards him. Izuku nearly groaned, this was too early in the morning. He was not ready for this shit.
"You're..." Iida gasped, "My name is Iida Tenya. I come from Soumei Private School."
Izuku prepared himself for another rant, "Yes, I heard, I am Midoriya Izuku. Nice to meet you."
"Midoriya," Tenya said, almost sounding a little somber. "You realized that there was more to that practical exam. I... I had no idea! I hate to admit it, but you are better than me!"
"I am sorry but what?"
"Ah- it's you! The curly-haired guy!"
Izuku turned around at the sound of a girl's voice, ah, it was the brown-haired girl he had saved during the entrance exams. She was the reason behind his placement at the top. Izuku had planned to stay in the middle of the pack, not show off too much, those who do get people's eye on them. Then this girl had to go and get herself in mortal danger, forcing Izuku to push his Quirk a lot, far more than he had wanted to do... resulting in a fire tornado, a melted zero pointer, a bunch of rescue points, a position at the top he never wanted in the exam. Oh well, he did not regret that. Looking at her smile, Izuku thought it was worth it, after all, this is what meant to be a Hero. Besides, he had always planned to be the very best hero, the next number one so this was just an early start... earlier than he planned.
"You made it in after all!" She exclaimed happily, "Just like Present Mic said! Awesome! I wanted to thank you after the exam but you were gone by the time I woke up."
"Don't worry about it," Izuku waved his hand dismissively, "It's what anyone would do." Please stop making everyone take notice of me, Izuku thought, feeling too uncomfortable by the stares of 19 teenagers over him.
"You were so awesome!" The girl ignored him completely, "Like, the fire went whoosh and the robot just melted!" Damn, she really speaks a lot, huh? "I wonder if today's the ceremony or if we're gonna meet with counselors or something? Do you know what our teacher is like? I'm really excited about it!"
"You don't have any time to spend at ceremonies. This is not a social club, this is the hero course." Everyone slowly turned to face the interruption, looks of confusion, fear, a bit of interest plaguing their expressions. Izuku watched with a bit of hesitation recognizing that voice, 'Surely it can't be Eraserhead?'
It was totally Eraserhead.
"Okay, it took you eight seconds before you were quiet," He said tired and monotonously, "Time is limited, you kids are not rational enough. I am your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shōta."
The man had the same tired expression on his face as he always did, dirty clothes, unkempt hair, an unshaven face, red-eyed and generally looked like a homeless man... but upon closer inspection, Eraserhead's eyes were always scanning everything and everyone without ever moving. His body, while never tense, was always positioned to be ready for action and combat at the slightest hint, his dirty scarf that he wore around his neck was the bane of villains everywhere, he knew that first hand. Contrary to first impressions, Izuku knew Eraserhead was one of the most dangerous Pros out there... he wondered if any other student would pick up on his lazy front.
Izuku turned to study his fellow students. While most of them were ranging from confused to scared, the contemplative frown on Katsuki's face and the slightly narrowed eyes of the boy he knew to be Endeavor's son told him that Eraserhead's unassuming persona might not be as effective as he'd like to believe.
Lost in his head, Izuku found himself standing out on the P.E. grounds.
"I don't get it; A test on the first day? What about orientation? counselor meetings? It's not even the first day of actual classes yet!" Uraraka's voice broke him out of his musings.
"Waste of time," Aizawa scoffed dismissively, "If you want to be heroes, you don't have time to waste." Yup, that was what he expected.
"Good riddance," Katsuki muttered beneath his breath from his side, "Who wants to fucking stand in an assembly for 30 minutes to hear some old fat fuck talk about shit."
Izuku pretended he had not heard that, though it was hard not to laugh at Katsuki's unique crass humor. "Softball throwing, standing long jump, 50-meter dash, endurance running, grip strength, side to side stepping, upper body training, seated toe touch... all basic middle school tests to determine national health averages. The irrationality of it all aside, you all will be using your quirks today to determine your limits and overall usage of your quirk."
"Midoriya," Aizawa called focusing his gaze on him, "You placed at first in the entrance exam, what was your farthest throw in middle school?"
"60 meters," Izuku answered raising a slight brow, he was getting singled out again.
"Do it with your Quirk this time," Aizawa ordered tossing him the ball. Izuku walked past the homeroom teacher with a thoughtful look on his face, which Aizawa didn't miss. He was watching his every move with a sharp eye.
'Now how to do this?' Izuku took a deep breath and decided quickly. He took the position and his hand lit up on fire, not enough to harm the throwing ball, not that it was needed, it was all just a show. He swung and let the ball flew with a small explosion of flame from his hand. It looked pretty enough. Izuku did not wish to stand out but that plan had flown out of the window at the entrance exam and he had decided to stick with it. He wanted to be a hero who saved everyone, he wanted to be the very best.
Izuku turned to Aizawa reading his distance measuring machine, hoping he had not overdone it. The man in question turned it towards them to show his results.
"650 meters." Aizawa spoke with a suspicious glint in his eyes, "We need to establish a baseline for each of you. Know your limits. That's the first rational step to figuring out what kind of Heroes you'll be." Aizawa didn't let anyone finish before he turned towards him, "I thought your Quirk was Pyrokinetic?" The unspoken question did not need to be said.
"If I generate enough flames and release them at a point of contact from a small enough area like my fist, they tend to generate enough concussive force to mimic small explosions." Total and utter bullshit, he had simply used a strength Quirk but he couldn't exactly say that out loud, could he? He hoped the explanation he came up with on the spot and the nonchalant way he spoke was convincing enough... and it looked like it was, given the barely perceptible nod Aizawa gave him.
Izuku ignored the excited whispers as he walked back towards Katsuki.
"Since when can your flames do that?" He asked with a frown.
"What did you think I've been doing every time I spend a night out?" Izuku deflected innocently. Katsuki simply scoffed, he knew his friend well enough to know that this conversation was not over... not by any stretch of the word.
"It looks fun, huh?" Aizawa's voice pulled him back to reality, he looked far more serious now putting him on one edge. "only three years to become heroes and you think it'll be all fun and games? All right. Whoever comes in the last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished with expulsion."
Izuku was stunned as the class exploded into questions, that made no sense, he frowned. How could you determine someone's potential with just a series of fitness tests? What if someone's quirk was not suited to fitness exercises? What if they simply had yet to learn control? No one could expect children to fully master their Quirks and show 'potential' after being strictly told not to use their Quirks out of the privacy of their home their entire life. Judging the 'potential' of high school children who had no formal training after a series of fitness tests was ironically illogical coming from a man who had been preaching rationality for the past half an hour.
"Tough shit," Aizawa bluntly responded to everyone's rightful indignant complaints. "Life is not fair, villains are not fair, get used to it. Natural disasters, big accidents, and selfish villains… calamities whose time and place can't be predicted," Aizawa continued mercilessly, "These are the things Heroes face daily. Do you think any of them are fair? If you wanted a fair high school life then you should have enrolled in some other hero school, this is the U.A. high, get used to it. For the next three years, it is my job to beat you down and build you back up into proper heroes, if you can't deal with it, get out now. I'll even write a recommendation letter for some other school. If you wish to say here, however, get your act together, and climb any challenge we throw at you, Plus Ultra style."
'Well, that was an epic rant,' Izuku thought to himself, a bit shocked, and bloody effective too given how hyped even Katsuki was with a maniacal smile on his face.
The tests were hard to get through for him. Not because of their difficulty, he had no issue getting through them at all. He had plenty of Quirks to get him through just about anything. Izuku still remembered the first time he got his Quirk, he was four, his father had given him an endurance Quirk. Back then, his mind didn't exactly comprehend the real implication of what had happened.
A strength Quirk was next, then a speed one, a healing one, on and on... then came training. It was their secret his father had said, no one else was supposed to know. Not even his mother, only himself, his father, and one of his father's work companions... every time his father brought him a new Quirk, that man would always be there... without fail, every single time... standing with the same smile on his face, standing in the background, wearing the same suit. Izuku frowned, why would he remember all that? He shook his head and bit his cheek hard enough to draw blood, the metallic taste filled his mouth.
Due to his interesting childhood, Izuku had developed something of an obsession and hunger for Quirks. When he saw Quirks, he couldn't help but break them down in his head... and sometimes, his body... his mind... his Quirk would hunger for more. It was like an itch, every fiber of his being, his Quirk demanded that he take them all for himself.
That was exactly what he was feeling at that particular moment. It was like an itch he could not never quite scratch. All of these wonderful Quirks, from the top students in the country, his mouth practically salivated at the thought of what he could do with them... his mind and his Appraisal Quirk working in overdrive breaking down everything he was seeing.
In the 50 meter dash, Iida was the one who stood out. His inherent family Quirk, Engine, was built for speed. Izuku himself did not do too bad, even if he was distracted, even if he couldn't exactly use his Inferno for any of the physical tests, his Enhancer Quirks had made him passively much stronger and durable than an average teen.
For most of the tests, there was a particular student who stood out, for the grip test, it was Shoji with his hulking multiple arms, and he, himself had done quite well in that particular test. For the ball throw, it was Uraraka with her infinite score, for other tests like long jump... some students like Katsuki simply flew using his explosions. Izuku himself did well in all the tests, remaining new at the top due to his sheer physique... he had even managed to use his flames for some tests. In the long jump, he had used his flames as a propeller, similarly, he used his flames to soften the grip machine by almost melting it and crushed it in his grip... causing some other students to cry foul.
Aizawa merely shrugged in response, "I told you all to use your Quirks to their full extent. Midoriya's method was a bit unorthodox but creative, I see no issue with it."
While Aizawa was answering the students, Izuku felt a piercing stare at his back. Izuku turned to find Todoroki staring at him, almost with a contemplating frown, hard cold eyes, and his lips pressed in a thin line. 'Looks like he's been watching me,' Izuku thought, 'Must be my flames, I wonder why you do not use yours?'
Izuku had spent a fair bit of thought on the heterochromatic teen. Todoroki had been one of the harder ones to control himself around, his Quirk had been buzzing around the boy. Izuku wondered what he could really do if he added his Quirk to his Inferno. Officially, Izuku's Quirk was registered as a mutation between his parent's Quirks. His father's fire generation and his mother's telekinesis... resulting in his ability to generate flames and telekinetically control all flames.
The reality was that his Inferno was a mixture of several different Quirks. Four to be precise. One that could generate flames, simple enough. The second was a heat manipulation Quirk. One that could regulate his body temperature and giving him the ability to alter heat in his surroundings... as a result, alter his flame's temperature... making them far more powerful and making him heat resistant. The third was telekinetic control over all flames... and the last one was the ability to transmute other flames and gain control over them, including other people's Quirks. Four relatively simple pyrokinetic Quirks, not too powerful, together they made his Inferno... one of the strongest Pyrokinetic Quirks in Japan. Resisting adding Todoroki to his Inferno was one of the harder challenges.
Izuku trembled a bit, he usually was not like this... not since he was eight. He had learned to control his urges, to gain control over his Quirk's hunger... yet today was proving to be challenging.
It was not the temptation to add Todoroki's Quirk to his Inferno, or taking Erasure or Iida's Engine... it was Yaoyorozu Momo's Quirk that was making it almost impossible for him to contain himself. Just the thought of what he could achieve with it... his Appraisal was working in overdrive to figure her Quirk out. His Appraisal was not as powerful as some other initiative Quirks but it was useful enough. It required him to have certain knowledge over a person's Quirk before it kicked in and filled in the blanks... a bit underwhelming for some but for a Quirk enthusiast like him... it worked like a charm.
Seeing Yaoyorozu create matter... all sort of objects from her skin ranging from scooters to canons made it easy for him to figure out her Quirk. The fact that she seemed to shrink a little and become skinnier with each object made Appraisal unnecessary even.
The ability to create an object from your body fat as long as you understand its molecular structure... oh the possibilities he thought. It made his mouth water, it was perhaps the second most versatile Quirk after his own. He wondered if it was just 'creation' or if she could alter and manipulate the molecular structure of the existing matter too.
The possibilities were endless. The things I could do Izuku thought absentmindedly, 'take it.' He could just bump into her, hold her hand in the guise of a handshake... 'no one would know.' Of course, her family was rich, there would be investigations, 'they cannot catch us.'
Izuku slapped himself loud enough to attract attention. "The fuck was that, Deku?"
"Are you okay, Deku?" Uraraka's concerned voice pulled him out, she was looking at him with her head tilted to the side, a concerned look in her eyes, "You look really pale and you are sweating a lot."
"Ah, it's just adrenaline, you know?" Izuku answered sheepishly. The lies came to him naturally these days, he was so distracted he did not even correct her over his name. "I just haven't been able to let out a lot of fire in these tests, you know? I am just kinda worked up is all."
"I know what you mean," Bakugo grumbled, "I thought this would be harder, I wanna blow some shit up."
"Really?!" Uraraka asked with awe in her voice, "I can barely keep up with others! you are amazing Deku!" Her innocent naivety was endearing, Izuku decided he really liked her already.
"Alright, enough talking," Aizawa drolled out, "Time for your results. Your total scores simply reflect your performance in the events. Explaining the entire process is not beneficial and would only waste time." A holographic screen lit up behind the tired teacher showing their results. Izuku was quite pleased to see his name at the second place... just beneath Yaoyorozu Momo... he stiffened a bit but resisted the urge to stare at her again. Todoroki was in third place and Katsuki was in fourth.
While he was pleased with his placement, he was also a bit guilty. While everyone was giving it their all with their inherent abilities, he felt like he was cheating with his assortment of Quirks. 'But this is my Quirk... Why shouldn't I use my Quirk? All Quirks are cheat codes essentially, I can do good with my power. I know I can.'
Izuku turned towards the last on the rankings, Mineta had a panicked look on his face but before he could go console the boy Aizawa spoke up. "Mineta, go see the Registration office and hand them this note," The teacher spoke producing a note from his pocket, "They will transfer you to the General studies. Normally I would expel you on sight but your side-stepping performance shows you have some potential... this is your second chance. Perform well enough and you can transfer back in." The small boy took the note gingerly and nodded gratefully to the teacher despite tears in his eyes before he ran off. It was a bit of a somber moment for everyone involved.
"Let this be an early lesson, your placement in the Hero course is not permanent. Any moment any of you start to slack off, you will be transferred to the General course... and of course, General students can replace you." Aizawa finished bluntly before he softened slightly, "With that, we're done here. There are handouts with the curriculum and such in the classroom, so when you get back, look over them." With that said, Izuku's first homeroom at U.A. came to an end.
Izuku frowned a little, so this testing system wasn't as bad as he thought but still, judging someone's potential based on a few fitness tests seemed a bit hasty. Then again, he could understand where Aizawa was coming from, in his own harsh way, he was only trying to show them the reality of their profession.
Aizawa considered himself a rational man... of course, he was not perfect, he was flawed but he tried his very best. Some would say that expelling a hopeful young student on day one was harsh, Aizawa would call it rational. U.A. had no time to coddle these students... one day they would grow up to be society's protectors, and he only had three years to mold them. Anyone who could not excel needed to be weeded out. As harsh as it was, it was the reality of life.
While Mineta did have some potential as highlighted by his side-stepping ability, it was not enough. More so over, his attitude was not right. He knew the testing system was flawed but it was the best they had, he had wanted to see more from those whose Quirks were not suited for physical activity. Like, Midoriya who had displayed creative use of his fire to soften the grip machine and broke it... or Tooru Hakagkure who had come very close to be expelled... only saved by her running test.
She had very subtly caused her opponent to fall by tripping them; since she was invisible no one could tell or accuse her... as a result, improved her standing. An underhanded tactic, many would call it a foul, Aizawa would call it creative. The girl knew she could not compete in direct physical activity with her peers as her Quirk helped her little so she used whatever means necessary to complete the objective. Her actions showed resourcefulness, recognition of her limits and capabilities, and the realization to use underhanded or whatever tactics required to complete the objective. In simpler words, she was much like himself... and her actions showed that she understood her reality. That was the only reason he had not outright expelled her right there on the spot regardless of her ranking.
"Ah, Aizawa," A loud boisterous voice called out to him just as he entered the staff room, "How was class? Terrorize any young heroes yet?"
Aizawa nearly grimaced, he didn't have anything against the Number 1 Hero, he even admired him for his good deeds... but he just did not like celebrity heroes on principle. "They are not heroes yet, and there was no need for me to terrorize them. This year's batch is exceptional."
"Here I feared you were gonna expel them all like last year!" All Might laughed boisterously.
"Who says I didn't?" Aizawa raised his brow.
"B-but you said..." The giant of a faltered with a confused look, his smile never leaving his face.
"I said they were promising not that I did not expel anyone." Aizawa grumbled, "Expelled is perhaps a strong word, I transferred one of them to General studies. Should he perform well in the Sports Festival, he'd back in."
"Cruel as always I see," All Might shook his head a bit.
"Should you really be in that form right now? Feels like you are wasting your own time." Aizawa did not deign it necessary to respond to his taunt.
"Ah, I was watching the apprehension tests is all. Class 1-B had a few exceptional students." The man responded before he shrank into his civilian persona. The weak gaunt man with baggy clothes.
"Already picking favorites?" Aizawa asked
"Wh-what?" Yagi spluttered, "Of course not! I could only watch one class and 1-B happened to take their tests closer is all."
Not a truth, but not a lie. The omission of truth or a half-lie... sometimes these were worse than lies. Aizawa knew the same way he knew Midoriya was hiding something when he had asked about his Quirk. Aizawa trusted his gut feeling, it had saved his life more than a few times.
Yagi coughed, "A-any one stand out in 1-A?" That was an awkward attempt to change the conversation... not that he minded. "I hear you have the top two from the entrance exam in 1-A."
"Midoriya and Bakugo?" Aizawa raised his brow, "Midoriya is polite and well-mannered while Bakugo is a bit hot-tempered... they are a contrast to one another but both have a good handle on their Quirks."
"And?" Yagi probed for more information.
"And nothing," Aizawa nearly snapped, "I have only known them for few hours."
Yagi seemed to have taken the hint and started working on something, leaving him in silence. Regardless of his gut feeling, he was not going to tarnish Midoriya's reputation with other teachers. That would be cruel and immoral. The boy had done nothing wrong. Everyone had a right to their secrets and he was welcome to his as long as they were not dangerous to society and the school.
Despite his own reassurance, his mind kept going back towards the green-haired boy. The way he had followed every other student, Aizawa knew that look, that gaze was assessing them, their Quirks. It was a good quality for everyone to have and Aizawa had thought nothing of it... until he noticed the boy studying Todoroki. He had gone a little stiff, labored breathing, his assessing eye had turned a little obsessive yet Aizawa still dismissed him as a Quirk enthusiast.
That was until Aizawa noticed the boy's subtle gaze follow Yaoyorozu. The way he followed her every move, her every action, his pale sweaty face and labored breathing would be enough to convince Aizawa that he may have a future harassment and stalker case. Midoriya, however, was nothing like that, Mineta fit that bill far more. Midoriya was polite, courteous to everyone including every other girl, his background file and middle school teachers had nothing but praise. Aizawa had met and caught plenty of stalkers and sexual harassers... Midoriya did not fit the bill at all. He dismissed the notion immediately.
There was something else, another gut feeling, the way his gaze had followed that girl... he was not looking at her... it was almost as if he was looking right through her.
Aizawa groaned as he felt a massive headache. Day one and he already had a problem child on his hands.
Izuku panted as he let himself burn. His body was on fire as he hit the punching bag... his hideout was almost in ruins. His Quirks were all going haywire, after school, he had run straight here... as fast as he could. The place only one person apart from him knew.
He regretted the slightly hurt and shocked faces of Uraraka and Iida when he told them he could not take the train with them... even Katsuki seemed surprised and irritated. He regretted it but he could not risk it... he had to get away from that classroom as quickly as possible. If he had stayed any longer he would have reached right over and taken Yaoyorozu's Quirk... perhaps Todoroki's too and consequences be damned.
'What the hell is wrong with me?' Izuku thought as the cold water hit his face, 'I haven't felt an urge this strong since I was eight. Get a grip Midoriya Izuku, you are not a child any longer!'
"... zuku... Izuku," a static voice reached his ears as he walked back into his makeshift hideout. It was at the edge of the city beyond the forest. An abandoned warehouse where no one came, he stood alone in the basement. "Izuku, I know you can hear me."
Izuku picked up the old makeshift earpiece she had made him from scrap. "Alright, alright, I can hear you."
"Where have you been? I've been trying to reach you for hours!" An annoyed feminine voice yelled in his ear... making him wince a little.
"Sorry, I-I needed to let off some steam," Izuku replied a bit nervously, "I was at the hideout."
"Right," She responded, not quite believing him, "How was your first day? You looked quite pale and uncomfortable there at the end you know."
"D-did you really hack into U.A?" Izuku groaned, this girl would get him killed someday.
"Of course I did!" She replied cheerfully, sounding quite impressed at her accomplishment. "I watched your test but your stupid school doesn't have cameras in classrooms." She huffed a bit before her voice took a teasing tone, "Little Green bean, you didn't take someone's Quirk on your first day, did you?"
"I am not a junkie for Quirks, you know?" Izuku grumbled, "I do have self-restraint."
"Sure you do." The voice on the other end chirped happily, "Are you sure you are ok? You are acting a bit strange?"
"I am fine, leave it," Izuku replied, his voice was unconvincing to his own ears... she'd never believed him. She'd known him since he was a child and could always tell when he was lying.
"Right, so, do you wanna call it a night?" She thankfully did not call out his lie, "Go home and celebrate your first day? I am sure Katsuki would appreciate it."
"No, no, not tonight," Izuku shook his head immediately, "I am worked up, I have a lot of adrenaline in my system. I've already called mom and told her I'd be staying at your house. I am going out tonight." The silence stretched over the line and for a minute, Izuku waited for her to try and stop him... instead she didn't.
"Ok, are you ready?"
Chapter End.
How was it? I am not entirely sure if you guys would like it or not but I gave it a try. I know there are several AFO Izuku stories but I sincerely think what I am going for is unique in a lot of ways. I suppose we will see. Leave any questions you might have down below, also, I have left a lot of very major hints about the plot in this very chapter. Cookie points to anyone who can figure them out. Also, in case, anyone missed it, Izuku going a bit haywire with his urge to take Quirks is not exactly normal... not to this extent... what do you all think is happening? I'd love to hear your theories.
Midoriya Izuku-Quirks:-
All for One: The ability to take and give Quirks with a touch. The time it takes to acquire a Quirk depends on several factors such as the target's health, will power, Quirk itself, and their mental state. More research is required.
Appraisal: Ability to research Quirk based on the information present. If the user can acquire a certain amount of information this Quirk can fill in the blanks by itself and reveal almost everything about the target's Quirk.
Inferno: Inferno is the result of a combination of several pyrokinetic Quirks. This amalgamation of Quirks is unique and has resulted in one of the strongest pyrokinetic Quirks in existence that allows its user the ability to generate, transmute, and manipulate fire. It also allows the user the ability to regulate heat in their vicinity, inside their own body, and extreme heat resistance. The true extent of the Quirk is currently unknown.
Several unknown Enhancer Quirks. More research necessary.
