I do not own Criminal minds, I do own Sam.

Nightmare II

Waves was all around her, her head going under the surface, water everywhere, she couldn't get air, she broke the surface for just a brief moment before she was once again dragged down into the deep.

Something or someone was pulling her down into the dark deep of the water, and she couldn't do anything to stop it no matter how much she tried.

Black spots started to dance before her eyes she wanted no she needed air right now!

Spencer awoke by an arm hitting him quite hard in the stomach followed by a muffled cry, he sat up and turn to see Sam in the middle of what must have been a nightmare.

"Sam wake up babe," Spencer said and gently shook her shoulder.

Sam woke up with a yelp and at first she didn't know where she was but then it all come back, she saw a worried Spencer and throw herself around his neck, Spencer just hugged her closed and whispered comforting word to her hoping that she would soon calm down.

Sam just gulped down big gulps of air, it was like she had run a long marathon, sweat and tear run down her face as she tried to catch her breath and calm down, it took a while before she even heard Spencer's whispering word to her telling her that she was safe and everything was okay, that he was there and no one could hurt her.

"Do you want to talk about it," Spencer asked when he felt that Sam was not holding on to him so tight anymore.

Sam didn't at first even remember the nightmare it had been so realistic, she had really felt like she was drowning.

"I was drowning," she whispered sounding scared that if she spoke too loudly it would happened to her again "Something or someone was pulling me down."

Spencer just held her tight listen to her, when she was done telling him about the dream she was so tired that she just wanted to sleep.

"I am just glad it is over," She said closing her eyes and falling back to sleep.

Spencer lied her down and him beside her still in his arms hoping that this would keep the bad dreams away.

No waves this time but something was holding her ankle and pulling her down under the water, she pulled to be free but the grip was too tight and she couldn't free herself, far away at the surface she could hear laughing someone was laughing at her struggle to not drown.

Her lungs felt like they would explode if she didn't get to breathe soon the pain was rising and it just hurt so badly.

Spencer who had just fallen back to sleep woke by Sam who was struggling in his arms she was mumbling something he couldn't really make out, but it sounded like "Please let me go, no please no"

"Sammy love wake up," Spencer said "It is only a bad dream."

Far away Sam heard something someone nice was calling to her to wake up and that it was just a bad dream, she wanted to wake up so badly now.

With a sob woke Sam up.

"Just a dream," she said over and over again but for some reason she didn't believe it, it hadn't felt like a dream more a memory.

"Yes just a silly dream," Spencer said softly trying to comfort her.

Sam lied there in Spencer's arms a few minutes just happy to be awake and not drowning, but something was nagging her.

"I don't think I could sleep more tonight," Spencer said "Do you want a cup of tea?"

Sam just nodded she was deep in thoughts something about this dream was familiar to her but why and how?

Soon they sat in the bed drinking a cup of tea each not saying anything.

"It wasn't a dream," Sam said suddenly

"What?" Spencer said he had been thinking of something else.

"It wasn't a dream," Sam said again looking at Spencer with wide scared eyes "it was a memory."

"A memory," said Spencer slowly

Sam nodded and sipped on her chocolate mint tea, its warmth helped making the dream/memory not so scary.

"I was seven I think, my class was at this weird natural pool," Sam started "a few of the boys in my class was well to put it mildly bullies, they never tried anything with me, Dean and Jared saw to that. It all started normally we all changed to our swimming suits and got in, Peter I think the leader was called and Patrick started to pull down some of the other girls and boys swimming suits, the teacher told them of but they just laughed at it, but when they tried to do it to my best friend I told them to stop or I would make them, they laughed at me but they did stop."

Sam paused and drank some more tea.

"I think Peter slipped or something because he fell down into a pile of rotten seaweed or something like that, we all laughed but he thought for some reason that I have tripped him, I was a few meters away I couldn't have done it, and the teachers say so too. But he was so mad at me, but he let me be."

Sam paused again trying to remember what had happened.

"It was at the end of the lesson and we had free play," she continued to tell her story "I was standing at the point where the shallow end turned to the deep end and suddenly I felt something grab my ankle and before I could react I was pulled under and I and I…"

Sam couldn't say anything else she was there stuck under water someone pulling her down into the deep, the pool was at the deepest nearly three meter deep, she couldn't breathe, she kicked out and tried to kick the person who was pulling her down and she managed her head broke the surface and she had just time to breath in deep once before she was once again pulled under this time by two people.

Spencer took the mug from Sam's hands so that she wouldn't drop it by accident.

"Sam," he said gently and took her face in his hands "Can you hear me? It is just a memory it is not real."

It took a few more minutes before Sam's eye focus once again and she saw that she was safe in her and Spencer's bedroom.

"I…was… soo… scared," she cried out "I really thought I was going to die."

"Shhh its okay," Spencer said softly and kissed her forehead "Everything is okay, it is over just a flashback. I am here and nothing bad will happened."

Sam nodded and curled up against Spencer who was wasn't late to wrap his arms around her tightly.

"A teacher saw me come up for air at one point and that I was pulled down," Sam said her voice slightly muffled as she had her face a bit burrowed into Spencer's pyjamas shirt. "She swam out and helped me out, I was okay just a bit winded, the two boys was yelled at but that didn't stop them from teasing me."

Sam laughed as she remembered something.

"They stop the teasing when Jared and Dean kicked their asses," She said "They stop the bulling after that as Jared and Dean was having their eyes on them and said that they would kick their asses again if Peter and Patrick tried anything, I think the both moved soon after and I must have not forgotten but pushed the memory away to the back of my mind."

Spencer had to laugh too, he had meet Sam's older brother and know that they were very protective of their sister.

"Spence," Sam said after a while "I am in the mood for something funny, wanna watch 'Not going out' I think there are some episodes we haven't seen yet."

Spencer smiled and nodded, and soon were both tucked up and bed watching the British comedy and snuggled closed together laughing. All thoughts of nightmares or drowning was forgotten.

A/N:

I have had the same or nearly the same nightmare as Sam, of drowning being underwater not been able to breathe, I nearly drown as a kid, I slipped when I was with my after school club at the sea and a teacher had to pull me up.

Well I hope you like this.
