Seth was watching on a monitor backstage as Sensational Signoras performed. They were performing halfway through the show, just after his match. He had passed Laurianne in gorilla and winked at her. He had gotten a smirk back in return from her.
"They're still good," Roman said. "Did you ever talk to her?"
"Laurianne," Seth said. "She's amazing. She wants to be a wrestler. And I kissed her."
"Hold up. Back up," Roman said. "You kissed her?"
"I couldn't help it," Seth said.
He couldn't take his eyes off the screen. She still seemed disconnected from the band, and he knew why. They were all wearing short, red skirts and silver tops full of sequins. The other four enjoyed this life. She didn't.
"She doesn't belong out there," Seth said.
"That's rude," Roman said.
"No, I mean not like that. She hates singing. She doesn't even like the music. She wants to be a wrestler. If she ever performs at a Wrestlemania again, it's gonna be inside the ring," Seth said.
"Okay, spill it," Roman said. "I already know you made crazy promises and got some scheme cooking."
"I need to talk to Hunter," Seth said.
"He's busy running the show," Roman said.
"I won't leave this arena until I speak to him. I'll wait until after the show, and then I'm gonna force him to talk to me. I won't take no for an answer. I'm still Seth freaking Rollins, damn it. I've never taken no for an answer," Seth said.
Laurianne woke up next morning. She wasn't sure how to feel. She had been so happy the day before after having spoken to Seth. He made everything seem so easy. He had promised to find her again later but he never followed through with that promise. She went back to the hotel alone and went straight to bed.
"Fuck my life," she mumbled.
She got out of bed, showered, brushed her teeth and packed her belongings. It didn't take long until she found herself downstairs. She bought a croissant and a cup of cappuccino and went outside to have breakfast alone while leaning up against the wall of the hotel. She had just finished the croissant and was halfway through her coffee when she saw a familiar face. Seth was walking right towards her but he wasn't alone. Hunter was with him.
"There you are," Seth said. "They wouldn't give me your room number and I couldn't find anyone working with you so I've been running around trying to find you."
"You should have asked for my phone number," Laurianne said.
"He should," Hunter chuckled. "Hi, I'm Hunter."
Hunter reached his hand forward. Laurianne took it and shook it.
"I hear you want a tryout," Hunter said.
"More than anything," Laurianne said.
"Can you be at the performance center this Wednesday?" Hunter asked.
"Name the time," Laurianne said.
"2 PM," Hunter said.
"I'll be there," Laurianne said.
"I'll see you then," Hunter said. "I gotta run. Wrestlemania might be over but we still have Raw tonight."
Hunter ran off and left Seth and Laurianne alone. Seth went to stand next to her and took her hand. Both of them were leaning up against the wall of the hotel while enjoying the sunshine.
"Thank you," she said.
"I made a promise. I don't ever break my promises," he said.
"You only promised to find me again," she said.
"And I did," he said.
He squeezed her hand. She turned her head and smiled at him. They just looked at each other. They couldn't start kissing each other out in public where everyone could see them.
"I need your phone number," he said.
"Now you remember," she grinned. "Hand me your phone."
He handed his phone to her and she put her number in it. She handed it back, and then they heard a voice calling for her.
"Laurianne!" A man shouted. "We're leaving!"
They both looked over to see a bus for the band had pulled up in front of the hotel. She sighed and picked up her bag.
"Can I call you tonight after Raw?" He asked.
"You better," she answered.
She walked over to the bus and got on. She found a seat in the back and sat down. She watched as the other four band members giggled and had fun together. It had always been like that. Those four were close while she was the outsider. It wasn't like they froze her out. She had always chosen to stay on the outside. She didn't fit in, and she could no longer pretend that she did. When the bus stopped at the airport, she stood up and whistled. Everyone stopped talking and looked at her.
"I can't do this anymore," she said.
"What do you mean?" Their manager asked.
"I'm done," she said. "I'm done with the whole music industry."
She grabbed her bag and walked through the bus. It felt so much better stepping off the bus as a free woman. A hand landed on her shoulder. She turned around to see the manager standing there.
"We need to talk about this," he said.
"We really don't", she said.
"You can't just leave like this," he said.
She tilted her head and started grinning.
"Watch me," she said. "I'm gonna be a wrestler, and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. You got four Sentational Signoras in there waiting for you to tell them where to go to next. Use your energy on people who cares about you. I don't. I never cared about you or this life. I fucking hate it."
She turned around and walked into the airport without looking back. For each step she took, she felt more and more light and happy inside. She had finally stepped away from the life she never wanted. Even if the tryout didn't go anywhere, she had earned money enough over the years to retire if that's what she wanted to. There was no way in hell she would ever go back to singing.
