Welcome back everyone, seems like the first chapter of this fic was very well received. I honestly am enjoying writing this story as I have quite a few ideas to implement into it. Before anything else I would like to say that originally in the first chapter I had The System throw Nero in a few weeks before the start of canon. Though a commenter brought up a valid point explaining that he wouldn't be that strong by the start of canon. Which my initial thought was "Well I can just make him strong by then." But then I remembered I wanted it to take it a bit slower with power growth this time around since in every other story I have written the main characters got extremely strong very quickly. So as a solution to the apparent time crunch, I put on myself I got the idea to just have The System send him in a few hundred years from canon. By then our MC will be well integrated into the devil society and be quite strong, I also thought it would be an interesting idea as well considering from my personal experience it isn't really done often.
Also, with the existence of Ingvild as she hasn't been born yet, I have a rather interesting and entertaining way of including her into the story. How it will happen I will leave to your imaginations until it comes to pass. Anyway, just wanted to clarify some things and eliminate any confusion for readers that started reading before I changed the earlier chapter. Enjoy!
(Extended A/N: After the completion of this chapter, I realized a lot of Nero's skills and abilities had pretty absurd damage modifiers due to how it increased with levels. So, don't be alarmed when you see them a bit different this chapter. Though the Decay ability damage is not going to change considering the nature of it.)
Comments will be answered at the end of the Chapter.
[System Speaking]
"Thoughts."
"Speaking Aloud!"
Plopping myself down in a heap on my bed with a sigh, just like always Katerea exhausted me every time she visited. She is very clingy, and the latest agreement between us had not alleviated it any. If anything, her happiness and glee is practically a solid aura, you could choke on it.
But it is nice to see her so happy, being a prominent figure among the Old Satan Faction has its fair share of responsibilities with an equal amount of pressure attached. Now with her leaving doesn't only help her out a bit, it also no doubt cripples the Old Satan Faction making it all the bit easier to get rid of them. Getting rid of the Old Satan Faction solves almost every single problem in this universe so it would be a good start.
Now with her finally gone and getting her affairs sorted, I still have till tomorrow until Serafall arrives to work out a deal for me to join the 72 Pillars. Given its about midday I still have quite a bit of time to grind out the ID.
I need to get as strong as possible.
My main concern is mostly getting rid of my Sickly flaw, so far, I know of only two sure ways of increasing my stats. The first being intensive training of the body, I am unsure if it is the same case with my mental stats, but the physical stats can be increased through exercise. The second method would be leveling a class that had a basic stat point gain with every level. Though it seems that each class increases certain stats like a Magic based class would increase INT and WIS like my Psychic Class, and others based on the more Physical side like a fighter or rogue class.
The best and most effective method would probably be leveling a class. Considering my current class doesn't increase my VIT I will either need to wait until my Psychic class levels to fifty to enable another class selection to fill out the lacking areas in my stats.
I would rather be more well rounded in terms of capability, a jack of all trade's kind of build. Though the ultimate goal would to be a master of all instead of just being adept in each category. The main reason why is I don't want to overspecialize in one area and find myself lacking when it truly counted.
Breaking myself from my thoughts , I gain a thought.
"I haven't really checked out much in way of the system…" I think to myself as I give a mental command.
"Menu…"
[Status]
[Skills]
[Perks & Traits]
[Shop]
[Gacha]
[Friends]
[Settings]
A game like menu appears with the same black box with silver lining, the text bearing a silver color as well. I look through the options nodding absentmindedly, all until my eyes rest on Friends. Widening at the thought, something I didn't expect when opening the system.
The System had mentioned the existence of other players, kind of makes me wonder what sort of function it will hold. Mentally selecting Friends as a new window opens displaying a list with several tabs. The current list empty, probably because of my lack of friends. Two more tabs display one being messages and the other Trade. The first self-explanatory, the second I guess being a bit more personal than the shop.
I wonder what the rules are in reference to trading.
Well now I don't see anything else in the Friends option, going back to the menu I follow down the list of options once again before landing on Settings. Curiously opening it up into two options, I am momentarily surprised seeing some I didn't expect.
[World Upgrades]
[Auto Loot Yes/No]
Opening world upgrades I see that this is a sort of territory management screen which for me only consists of my castle, so here I would upgrade or add segments to my territories. Which conveniently only costs credits and not the points I had before. Looking through the list of upgrade I see a great many options, just to name a few I see an Alchemists lab, Enchanters chamber, Smithing Shop, Sex dungeon you name it, and it will probably be in this list.
I decide to hold onto my credits for now since most of these segments wouldn't help me as of right now considering I lacked the required class to utilize each room. My eyes drift to the auto loot option and my eyebrow momentarily twitches.
"I seriously had this option; I wasted a shit load of time looting individual items. At least I didn't go months or years without it…" I mumble to myself before enabling it. Exiting the settings and opening the shop I am momentarily surprised at the complexity.
[Shop]
[Weapons][Armor][Skills][Perks][Items][Crafting Materials][…]
Several tabs liter the store page, a tab it seems for every category. Weapons, Armor, Skills, Perks, items, Crafting materials you name it, there was a tab for it. I click on weapons first just to get an idea of what I'm looking at. Clicking on it I see a long list with… 1,429 pages?! That is insane, I guess it makes sense since this acts as a market place of sorts, I click on the filter option to see what kind searches I can narrow it down to.
I can search for a specific sword, the type, the rarity, the price range and all sorts of different options are available. It also seems that each listed item shows the name of who put it up, as well as a way to send a direction message for possible negotiation.
Interesting…
Backing out of the Weapons tab and looking at the other options, my eyes stop over perks. I curiously open up the tab seeing a long list of perks, each functioning in their own unique way, like my Loved by Lady Luck perk. Scrolling through the various perks, noticing that most of them are circumstantial or of no real use to me at the moment. I also notice that there are no names for those who listed these perks. Perhaps they are listed by The System itself? I come across these three that would be perfect for my current build.
Healing Factor – The body heals all wounds at an accelerated rate, grants immunity to disease and sickness. Passive Health Regen is converted to a percentage, healing for 5% of health a second. Lost limbs can be regenerated given enough time.
Cost – 20,000,000 Credits.
Mana Reactor – The mana stored in your body feels almost limitless, even when you dip into its wells it seemingly fills up just as fast. All wisdom gains are quadrupled, and Passive mana regen is converted to 10% mana a second.
Cost - 100,000,000 Credits
Stamina Freak – You find it almost impossible to tire yourself out, be it fighting or fucking, you can go all night long baby! You are quick to recover from strenuous activity.
Cost – 100,000 Credits
The first two are absolutely worth the price, although I probably won't be able to afford them for quite a while, they are definitely on the list of things I should get. The third while it seems like nothing truly special, to me it feels like more of a hidden gem. This will help me dramatically in relation to combating my Sickly flaw at least until I get it up to 50 VIT and even then, it will still prove useful later on for grinding out skills none stop as it will negate the physical exhaustion tied to the process.
Purchase Perk [Stamina Freak] for 100,000 credits? [Yes/No]
Mentally clicking yes as I watch another box pops up with a loading bar.
Uploading Data…
Complete!
Almost as soon as the completion notification appears a sudden rush of pure energy fills my previously exhaustion riddled body. Feeling similar to a sudden rush of adrenaline, though it fades quickly only leaving a feeling of lightness, like I could run 30 miles and not tire. Though I am not sure I could complete that task with my current stats, all in all it is a good boon to help me get a head start.
"Though just to make sure…" I mumble out as I call up my status.

Can never be too sure…
With that out of the way I guess it is as good a time as any to enter back in the ID. I bring myself to my feet already noticing just how much better I feel compared to before I obtained the new perk. A good feeling beginning to sprout in my chest. Bringing my hand up before issuing the mental command.
"ID Create: Zombie."
Just like usual, the world breaks like glass revealing the city I was in before. This time however I am in a different part of the city, before I do anything. I sprout my devil wings from my back and fly up into the air just above the buildings getting a better view of my surroundings.
Something I figured out how to do is fly with my devil wings, it didn't provide a skill curiously enough. Probably since it is almost like breathing or just moving another part of my body, it is purely instinctual. It would make sense since you don't have a skill for something like walking.
Floating into the air I look around the city, finding that it looks practically limitless. As far as the eye could see was just more skyscrapers. Looking down in the streets I see dozens of different Zombies littering the streets, much larger in quantity compared to the first time I entered the dungeon when there were only one or two at a time. Now there are hordes of them in all directions, sighing as I survey more of the city looking for the denser hordes to annihilate.
"Huh?" I let out when I see in the distance a few miles out, a giant tower like building standing leagues taller than any other skyscraper around it. It stands easily touching the black clouds that thunder around it menacingly. From my guess there are is at least 300 floors until it reaches the top. I can guarantee that the last time I was here that tower didn't exist, or did It always exist but I just hadn't spawned close enough to see it?
Its appearance practically screams Boss. Well, I guess taking a look couldn't hurt.
Flying at a comfortable speed and approaching the tower, as I get closer it only seems to get larger. The density of Zombies and Brutes around the tower only increasing as well, turning from the measly couple dozen zombies in a group to approaching nearly a hundred at one time.
Closing the distance between myself and the tower I notice the complete absence of windows or entry points along the side of the massive building, only a single giant door at the base which is of course surrounded by heaps of undead.
Descending slowly and using my invisible blade, making it ten feet long and spinning it quickly in a blender like motion instantly cutting them to ribbons, I keep It up for a considerable amount of time until most if not all are gone. Thankfully due to my Mana regen I can keep up invisible blade infinitely, this little blender like trick I learned after a little improvisation when I was grinding earlier and turns out it works like a charm as you can see.
Zombie x103 Killed
Zombie Brute x13 Killed
161,150 xp gained
2 Gacha Tokens received
Auto Looted 67,060 credits
[See Materials Auto Looted here]
Psychic Class leveled to 22!
Invisible Blade leveled to 31!
My eyes widen at the sudden influx of power and the amount of xp and credits I gained in such a short time. Usually, I would get about 5,000 to 10,000 xp a group if I was lucky. This was simply astronomical in comparison. The sheer number of levels I gained in one encounter, I guess it makes sense I did use a pretty broken ability to kill a large number of Zombies at once.
Got a shit load of creds too.

Shit I basically gained most of my credits back at just that alone. I almost want to farm the Zombies around here for a bit before checking out the tower. But I really can't help myself of looking inside, for such a protected area surely something special resides there. Though something equally dangerous could also be there.
I look up to the top of the tower finding it just as intimidatingly tall as the last time I saw it. I am getting a vibe that I am going to have to clear each and every floor until I reach the top where the dungeon boss is, and seeing that there are no shortcuts I cant just fly up there and get it over with. The dungeon boss is no doubt strong as shit too if it gets harder with every floor.
Damn…
I guess it couldn't hurt to farm even more of these hordes around here and strengthen myself a bit more before taking on the challenge.

The Brutes head falls of its shoulders before dropping to the floor and disintegrating leaving the usual drops behind. Well, that was the last bit of them, they don't seem to be spawning in anymore. I have been at it for about 4 or 5 hours now, and my progress has really stagnated at this point.
Though it wasn't for nothing…

Yep, it was definitely worth waiting to go inside the tower, I managed to level all of my skills considerably along with my class. In fact, soon I will be able to select another class altogether. I should actually start thinking about what I should select next, I will most likely take on a fighter class.
I sigh as I take a seat leaning against the tower, needing a break from the constant use of skills. My head aching, while yes, I can keep up most of my skills indefinitely, I still gain an ache in my head from using them constantly. Kind of like eye strain if I were to make a comparison, though only in the brain.
Brain Strain…
Anyways I managed to grind up most of my skills, my Invisible blade especially to a disgusting degree. But that doesn't mean it will stop me from continuously exploiting it. Especially if it yields such amazing results…
Subconsciously bringing up a barrier and activating second skin as a precaution I take a moment to relax for a moment maybe even train my Decay ability. The only one that doesn't actually hurt my head to use, it only really gives me a tired feeling as it drains my mana. Which goes away quickly though as it regenerates to full again in a few minutes. Interestingly enough I didn't gain any new items, only Gacha Tokens putting me at a grand total of 5 for the moment. I don't really feel like using them, maybe when I leave the dungeon and I'm not watching over my shoulder.
I activate Decay relishing in the cold feeling that radiates throughout my body. It actually provides a bit of comfort believe it or not, almost refreshing if I didn't think about the drain of my mana. With my current reserves and regen rate I could probably keep it up for a few minutes before I need to wait and regenerate again.
I turn and carve shapes into the tower wall watching as every spot I touch disintegrates. My fingers going through the material without a bit of resistance, a satisfying action really. I continue to do so for a few more seconds before my eyes suddenly widen. Gaining a thought, I push my hand deeper into the tower wall until it pushes through to the other side.
Taking my hand out and deactivating Decay as I peer through the fist sized whole hoping to get a sneak peak inside, intending to get an idea of what I'm facing. Though the only thing I see is pitch black darkness on the inside, the only light is what is filtering through the hole I just made. I grumble and fold my arms seeing my attempt fail.
I grab my chin in thought as I look at the hole, the wall roughly a foot thick if I were to guess. Impressed at the materials composition that enables the tower to stand as firmly as it does considering its height. Looking up along the side of the tall building then back down to the hole. I lift my hand as I reactivate Decay and touch the wall once more, watching as it glides through the material without difficulty. As I pull my hand back gaining an insidious smile as an idea enters my mind.
"I am going to cut down the tower…" I say as I chuckle darkly before getting to work, using decay I remove an 8 inch section along the side while I walk and streak my arm all around the base of the tower until I start to hear cracking.
Taking that as my queue to clear the area, sprouting my wings as I take flight making sure to stay far enough away to not get hit by any debris. Watching as the Tower starts to lean a bit dangerously before the base ultimately gives out completely. The tower starts to crash downwards like a fallen tree, the sight awakening a feeling of euphoria, the scene of impending destruction far more satisfying than it should be. The moment the tower hits the ground a plume of dust shoots out in all directions hiding the sight. Though the sound however is deafening…
BOOOOMMM!*
My eardrums burst leaving only a ringing sound in my ears, the cloud of dust obscuring everything from view, though the devastation no doubt incredible. Not even a second later a box appears in front of my face making my eyes widen to comical levels. My heart begins to pound in my chest as I read the text.

Decay Leveled to Max, Skill upgrade available. [Yes/No]?
My mind rebooting for a moment unable to comprehend the information hammering itself into my head. Though the sudden influx of incomprehensible power flooding my system proved itself an effective distraction as my stats increase far beyond what they were before. My mana reserve easily doubling in size was no doubt a shock to my system.
I read through the text reveling at all of the experience gained, enough to max out my class with some left over for my next one, in fact I can choose two more. The possibilities flickering in and out of my thoughts at the new classes I can take on. I take a deep breath as I work to calm myself down and continue reading through the text box.
I also gained an absurd number of credits, enough I believe to purchase the Healing Factor perk. I gained 20 more Gacha Tokens as well putting me at a solid 25, more than I thought I would ever have at one point. I even gained a full set of Death Knight armor which sounds like a rather powerful set. I even got a four piece set from the Dungeon Boss.
Now I can also upgrade my Decay Skill, seeing as it can only be beneficial, I click yes. A loading box appears before finishing after a moment as a new box appears.
Skill Gained!
Deaths Aura (Active/Passive) [Level 1] – You are death incarnate, all those in your presence unable to handle your Aura will find themselves beginning to Decay. Passively gives you an intimidating Edge instilling fear in their hearts. Those 100 levels above you will resist half of the damage and your Passive effects. (Prior skill Decay is still available for use and acts as an extension of this skill.)
Damage – 5,000 + INT/s
Range – 15 Feet
Cost – 2000/s
Holy shit… This is what I call an upgrade, its potential is insane as well. It also eliminates the inherent weakness of the skill too. I now no longer have to be directly touching anything, now just being near me is enough to deal damage. I will definitely have to grind out this ability later…
Now I guess I should check the armor pieces from the Death Knights and The Lich King. I open my inventory ignoring the obscene number of materials, most being body parts. I scroll over the armor and items and click on my newly acquired loot.
Death Knight Armor Set – A set of amor belonging to a once Mighty warrior before being resurrected by a Necromancer of considerable strength. The armor now corrupted and Twisted with dark magic giving wearer a rather terrifying presence.
(2 piece set bonus: All Physical Stats increased by 50 points, 4 piece set bonus: All Magical damage received is reduced by 25%, 6 piece set bonus: All properties tied to this armor is doubled.)[Warning: To Equip this armor you need to have a base STR of 250 due to the armors overbearing weight.]
Death Knights Sword – A powerful Bastard sword once belonging to a mighty Warrior, due to a powerful necromancer's dark magic warping the swords properties, a deathly energy envelopes the blade.
Base Damage – 10,000 + STR, and 3,000 Necrotic Damage.
(Deaths Armaments 2 piece set Bonus: Defense and Damage dealt with the Death Knights Armaments is twice as effective.)[To Effectively wield this weapon the user must have a base STR of 200.]
Death Knights Shield – A strong shield once wielded by a mighty warrior now changed and twisted with dark magic by a powerful necromancer.
Negates 10,000 blocked damage.
(Deaths Armaments 2 piece set Bonus: Defense and Damage dealt with the Death Knights Armaments is twice as effective.) [To Effectively wield this shield the user must have a base STR of 300.]
Lich Kings Crown – Once belonging to a noble ruler of a long passed era, holding many magical properties before its power was warped and used for nefarious means. The Rulers mind slowly descended to madness as he used his own people for his twisted experiments. [To effectively use the Lich Kings, crown the wearer must have 1000 WIS.]
Allows a Necromancer to summon twice their maximum number of Undead.
Lich Kings Dominion Set Bonus: All summoned Undead while in your vicinity have twice the usual amount of health and their attacks are empowered.
Lich Kings Robe – A prized robe once belonging to a king of a by gone era, gifted from his court mages with the intention of keeping him safe. Crafted from magical thread, giving its user a barrier that repels all magical attacks and Negates a large majority of Physical. [To effectively use the Lich Kings, Robe the wearer must have 1000 WIS.]
(The Robe uses a Third of the users Mana Reserves to keep up the Barrier.)
Lich Kings Ring – A silver ring with a black encrusted gem once belonging to an Ancient king, after being used as a catalyst to cast many dark magics its powers were corrupted. [To effectively use the Lich Kings Ring the wearer must have 1000 WIS.]
Necromancer Offensive Skill damage is Doubled, and the Users Mana Reserves are doubled.
Lich Kings Staff – A staff made of an unknown would that harnesses the Evil and Malice of a powerful undead. Sends an orb of necrotic energy and explodes upon impact. [To effectively use the Lich Kings Ring the wearer must have 1000 WIS.]
Damage – 15,000 Necrotic + INT
These items are incredible, not to mention the set bonuses for each. Also the WIS requirements are pretty up there. Since I am able to take on two more classes I could just take a fighter class and the Necromancer class considering I now have an armor set that greatly boosts its abilities and a Grimoire that also accelerates xp gains for its skills.
The ringing in my ears dissipating as my ear drums heal, an earie silence permeating throughout the city. The dust now dispersed revealing untold destruction, the tower did a real number on its impact point and its surroundings. Only the shattered remains of the tower and buildings remain, I take a moment to relish in the sight.
[Never have I ever seen any players before you clear that tower in such a way. I truly never expected it… Usually it takes players weeks if not months to safely clear it if they ascended as it was intended. An interesting method you seem to have found, though I doubt it will ever happen again considering the only way you could have done it was with your inherited ability. Purely circumstantial, though I guess you reaped the benefits for such an ingenious idea. Please keep it up, you are proving to be most entertaining…]
The box appears displaying the message sent from The System, I can't help but pale a bit seeing as I have been found out. I did technically get caught cheating, using a totally cheap way to instant kill the boss of the dungeon. Something clearly not intended to happen, if The Systems reaction was any indication.
At least it seemed more amused than infuriated which fills me with no measurable amount of relief. I have been in my new life for what 2 days and I am already exploiting the system, probably not the best start for my track record. If anything, I gave The System a reason to keep an extra eye on me.
I might have to watch myself from now on it seems…
I shake the thought out of my head as I look at my newly acquired skills as a result of maxing out my Psychic class. Mind reading can definitely be helpful in negotiations, Mind control is simply incredible that is if I can level it up enough for it to even work. That ability may even be crucial in my rise to power, perhaps I may be able to use it on advertisers to get my name known as well as merchants.
I may have to have something that could grant me a popular reputation, something I can sell… Like how the Phenex's have the Phenex tears, that if anything has boosted their reputation to the level, they see themselves at today. They managed to produce something so highly sought after, it may be difficult to compete with such a product.
My Ultimate goal would be to become a Satan myself, as there is only 4 Satan's currently those being Sirzechs, Ajuka, Falbium, and Serafall. My understanding is that each Satan represents a Chief Demon of an original Sin. Being that there are only four current Satan figures representing a sin it leaves three open spots. To even spin that idea through their heads I will need to be a Devil of great standing and influence.
I will need to become an Ultimate Class Devil and have my house gain a high rank in the Underworld for them to even listen to me or gain a candidate position for a Satan role. To even get to that point would be quite the trial itself, I would need to gain a ridiculous amount of strength, but I think I can gain an advantage if I use two abilities carefully, Mind Reading and Mind Control.
With those two I think I can make it happen.
Quest Received: Satanic Ambitions!
Objective: Gain the title of Satan in the Devil society.
Optional Objective: Complete the Object before the start of the Canon Timeline.
Reward: 50,000,000 xp, 200,000,000 credits, Satan Title. Original Sin Perk.
Bonus Reward: ?, ?, ?
Alright its settled, this is the quest I will work my hardest to achieve. I will do whatever I can to finish this before the start of canon. I will need to gain as much power as I can quickly. While yes, I am stronger than I should be at the moment, but I am still incredibly weak in the grand scheme of things. I really only have what I can tell is large mana reserves and a few strong skills and that's really it.
My physical body is abysmally weak… In other words, a literal glass canon.
Sigh*
I should probably take a little break; I am in fact starting to get pretty hungry as I have yet to eat anything today. Taking a last look at the destroyed tower before I destroy the ID appearing once again inside my quarters. As I take in my surroundings, I see that the light peering through the window is starting to dim, signifying it is around the end of the day. I had been in the ID for quite a while so it would make sense, time seems to pass at the same rate unfortunately.
I sit myself down on my bed as I open my status, intending to select my new classes. I fully intend to get rid of my Sickly flaw first so I will have to select a fighter class as they are the most likely the best options for increases to my VIT. With my banked experience I could probably get rid of it here and now. Swiping through my notifications until I come across the one I am looking for.
Class Selections are available do you wish to proceed? [Yes/No]?
Selecting yes, a box appears as I recognize it as the one that initially appeared when I had first selected my Psychic class. Selecting the Fighter option, a list of different classes appears.
[Warrior][Saber][Lancer][Berserker][Samurai][Rune Knight][Gunslinger]
Looking at the classes I weigh my options, the stat increases I am really looking for at this point is VIT and STR, with VIT being the more paramount. The only thing I can really think that would provide those two stats could only be the Berserker class. Which would make sense considering the fighting techniques would center around extreme displays of strength and the capability of handling a considerable amount of damage. The others do seem interesting however, the Rune Knight just seems like a fancy term for a Magic Swordsman. Waving off the other options as I select the Berserker class causing a familiar loading bar to appear.

My body suddenly seizes up in response to the sudden extreme increase of power that begins to flood into my bones, ligaments, and muscles. The sound of clothing tearing enters my ears as I involuntarily clench all of the muscles in my body. The feeling persists for a few moments until it fades away leaving me heaving as sweat runs down my body.
That… was much more intense than I thought it would have been.
Groaning as I lift myself up, soreness radiating throughout the whole of my body. Looking down at myself I see that my clothing is now in tatters, powerful muscles underneath the ruined clothing. Standing up as I almost immediately notice a height difference, I was before maybe 6 foot 2. Now I feel I am approaching 6 and a half feet.
As I look to my nearby mirror, I immediately notice that I no longer bare the emaciated body and now have an absolute physical specimen. My hair style and overall facial structure hadn't changed, though my hair has a noticeable wildness about it, my eyes still holding their fierce red. My eyes widen in realization, my obvious change in appearance will not go unnoticed.
I doubt Sebastian would make a huge deal about it, but Katerea might take some convincing. I mean how would you react if you new someone most of your life always seeing them as frail and sick, then you leave for a week only to come back and find that they now look like a fucking Olympian. Probably would be a bit suspicious if you asked me.
Luckily those are the only two I have to worry about considering I had never personally met with anyone of the 72 Pillars. I also couldn't give to shits how the old Satan faction would react considering I don't value their opinion in any way shape or form. Though I may have just unlocked the perfect Skill to smooth it over.
Mind control…
Though it is most certainly not an effective means right now, but if I can level it as much as possible before I see Katerea again. But for now, I need to get some food to eat, this transformation basically made me from parched to someone at the cusp of dying from starvation. Bracing myself for the reaction Sebastian has to my new appearance I take a breath.
"Sebastian." I say aloud already hearing an undertone of power and authority, no longer having a weak tone. Sebastian instantly appears in front of me bowed, though the startled expression on his face lets me know he is aware of my change, but he quickly replaces it with his usual pleasant expression.
"My Lord Aemon, it appears that you have changed… I trust this is a good thing?" He asks a little concerned, no doubt concerned of the nature of my apparent increase in power.
"Yes, I managed to remove my condition. It seems that it was holding me back from achieving this form, the one I should have had if I wasn't born as weak as I was. If you could believe it, I simply trained hard…" I say clenching my fist making several joints in my hand pop. Sebastian gains a joyful expression at hearing my words.
"I am truly glad that you are finally healthy, though it does fill me with a large amount of irritation finding that all it took was exercise." He says with a slight twitch of the eyebrow, I laugh aloud at his words.
"My parents would no doubt feel the same if they had found out. Anyway, due to my increase in… size I have gained a ferocious appetite." I say as Sebastian chuckles good naturedly as he responds.
"Of course, I will have the servants bring you your meal in the dining hall." He says before disappearing as I grab my tattered clothing and tear them off before tossing them into a pile. I momentarily inspect my figure in the mirror to get a better grasp of the change.
Like I had felt earlier I am a few inches taller, my muscularity if anything is the biggest change. My muscular structure is more on par with Guts if I were to make comparisons. Nothing changed chin up thankfully…
So, with the extreme Stat point addition to STR and VIT my physical form changed along with it, I wonder if I balanced out with DEX if I would have a reduction in muscle mass and lean out. My current form is a bit too bulky for my liking to be honest. I wonder if I had a sudden addition of 1000 STR?
Shiver*
Gah… I would probably just be a wall of just muscle…
Let's not think about it…
I should probably select my other class; a good decision would be to go for Necromancer since I have a few items already that would work perfectly with the class… But I can't help but think that maybe balancing out my current build with a Rogue class or perhaps a crafting class would be wiser? I honestly don't have much of an interest to select the Necromancer Class since I more prefer to fight myself and not have a summon do it for me, summoner classes aren't really my thing.
I might just sell the Lich King set since the only thing that it would really provide me is an increase of mana reserves, but I don't truly need it. The barrier provided by the robe I can easily replicate, and the only other bonuses is to a Necromancer Class which I am not too interested in, not to mention the 1000 WIS requirement.
So, with the Necromancer Class out at least for now, I should select a class that would mesh well with the ones I already have. Berserker goes well with Psychic surprisingly with the high amount of potential damage along with the skill Second skin. A skill that is incredibly useful to any close quarters class. My current classes if set up right is practically unstoppable, as of right now I am a moving Tank that will kill anything that gets close to me with my Deaths Aura, even if something can withstand it, I will still deal damage overtime and I will tear them apart up close and personal, my only fault is being relatively slow. Although my build has the potential to be quite formidable
So, with high potential for STR, VIT as well as high defensive capabilities I should grab a class that focuses a good deal with the quick dispatching of enemies. It will be important to do so since I can't completely rely on my Deaths Aura so much, there could be a situation where I have a friendly nearby so I couldn't use it without killing them. And being incredibly strong physically only takes you so far if you face an enemy faster than you and you can't hit them.
I mentally select the option to gain a new class as the options pop up once again.
[Fighter][Rogue][Mage][Special]
I only take a moment to select the Rogue tab bringing up a few options.
[Thief][Assassin][Archer][Arcane Archer][Bard]
Looking at the classes available I go through them all and read their descriptions, none really gaining my eye accept Assassin. Provides a pretty good bonus to DEX and a secondary stat of CHA. The two that I seem to be severely lacking in, my LUK yes isn't that great but I feel it isn't as important of a stat at least until I round my physical stats to a comfortable level until I select another class. The next class type I am considering is a crafting type class so I can get an income source perhaps and something that can set a good foundation for increasing my general reputation among the Devil society.
I ultimately select Assassin…

Assassin Class [Level 1] – A profession suited for only the most dedicated of individuals that strive for perfecting the art of the kill. Specializing in Blending in within a crowd, quick efficient elimination of the target and escaping undetected. Every level increase grant 9 DEX and 5 CHA.
Skill gained!
Way of the Assassin (Passive) [Level 1] – A method of fighting that utilizes quick lethal attacks intentionally aimed for weak points in the body. The goal is to eliminate the target as quickly as possible, not a style suited for long drawn out fights. (Effective with smaller weapons that can be easily hidden from view.)
Stealth (Active) [Level – 1] The practice of moving around undetected, the feet are quieter and your presence itself is less noticed.
Chance of being unnoticed – 1%
Cost – 500/s
Oh? I gained two skills from gaining this class from the get go? Normally I would only gain 1 then another at level 5. I can keep up stealth indefinitely with my current regen so I might as well start training it. Activating stealth, I begin to instantly feel the pull on my mana but it is nothing more than an annoying feeling that can be ignored.
Releasing a sigh as I realize I have one last thing to do before I go to the dining hall, that is to purchase the Healing Factor perk. Opening the store and clicking the perk tab as I locate the perk before selecting it.
Do you wish to purchase the [Healing Factor] perk for 20,000,000 credits? [Yes/No]?
Grimacing at the price before steeling my myself and selecting yes, watching as two thirds of my account getting deducted does hurt me inside a bit. Though this is an entirely worthwhile decision.

A tingling feeling washes over my body for a moment before passing. I don't particularly feel different, deciding to test it I search my room before finding a sharp letter opener. Picking it up and unconsciously twirling it in my hand expertly surprises me for a moment. Probably the passive skill I acquired from the Assassin Class. Throwing the thought aside as I bring the sharp edge to my palm and making an incision. Blood trails and drips from my hand before the relatively deep wound stops bleeding and closes in record speed leaving a pink scar. The scar fades just as quickly as it appeared revealing no indication that there was ever a wound in the first place.
Well other than the blood that remained of course.
Satisfied with the result I decide to take a bath to clean myself of the sweat, blood and grime from today's grinding. Walking to the bathroom extension of my quarters and stripping off my underwear. Stepping into the large tub rectangular shaped tub made of pure marble that looked to be carved out of the ground, easily large enough to fit a dozen people. Filled to the brim of hot steamy water, a magical enchantment on the tub ensures the water always stays hot and clean allowing the owner to never have to change it. The only times I supposed is every once in a while you would need to fill it up again since the water would evaporate with the steam.
Sighing as rest against the edge while propping my elbows up as the hot water eases the tension out of my muscles. The recent transformation really tightened me up if I am to be honest. The muscle soreness does seem to be fading, I think it is an overall cause of rapid and extreme growth in such a short period of time. It wasn't really pleasant when it happened, but you can't deny the results.
I would imagine an even greater stat increase than that could be potentially dangerous, considering that The System mention that the Tower I knocked over was meant to be cleared in the course of a couple months. So, I pretty much gained a few months of experience in a couple of seconds. My Clan ability Decay is also the only skill that received xp, the only thing I can deduce is the direct cause of the kills were related to the use of Decay.
It is too bad nothing else leveled up, but I can't complain…
I am still relatively weak and know where near what I need to be sitting at to achieve my goal. I would gauge myself at maybe a Mid Class Devil in strength if I were to guess, but I can't guarantee until I set my eyes on one and use Observe. I sigh and mentally kick myself for forgetting to use it on Katerea.
Grumble*
My stomach reminds me of my growing hunger, quickly washing my hair and the rest of my body before stepping out and drying myself off with a incredibly soft towel. I grab the biggest set of clothes I can find and throw them on, the tightness apparent and slightly uncomfortable but it will do the trick. Putting on my really comfortable slip ons before a frown etches itself on my face. They are also very tight and even more uncomfortable than my clothing.
I will have to get a completely new wardrobe, this shit sucks…
XXXXXX
Sitting at the head of my large exquisitely crafted wood dining table as I ravenously eat plate after plate of food. Picking up large drum stick from what animal, I couldn't say but I can tell you it is juicy and delicious. My thoughts made apparent as I sink my teeth into the meat and tear away at it. My servants along with Sebastian staring in awe and slight disgust at the sight.
I had severely underestimated just how hungry I was, it seems like to compensate for the sudden growth in my body. Something that was supposed to happen more naturally over time used an incredibly large number of calories and energy. If the stacked silver platters around me were any indication that is.
Dropping the cleaned off bone onto a nearby plate as I lean back and sigh in contentment while rubbing my stomach. A glorious smile on my face as I chuckle, looking to my servants.
"Thank you all for providing such a fine meal, I don't think I have ever been this hungry in my life!" I shout joyously making them smile and bow before grabbing the dishes and taking them away. Sebastian walks up to my side with his usual pleasant smile.
"I am relieved that you have a greater appetite than you used to Lord Aemon. Though I do hope that the density of food that was required to sate you isn't a permanent development… like your more recent changes. I am not sure our food stores can survive the punishment." He says offering a nervous chuckle as I give him a grin.
"I doubt it, I only needed to replenish the extreme amount of energy I used to grow my body to such a state, so I would say it is temporary but only time will tell." I say waving off his concerns as he nods in response satisfied with the answer.
"Though I may have to get a new wardrobe, my clothes are a bit small as you can see." I say as Sebastian nods once more.
"Of course, Lord Aemon, it will be done immediately." He says making to move before I suddenly remember something I have been meaning to ask.
"Oh, one more thing Sebastian…" I ask before he leaves, he directs his attention back to me curiously.
"Could you please tell me what the current date is?" I ask as Sebastian pauses to think for a moment.
"It is the 25th day of May, 1431. Does that help you Lord Aemon?" He says making my heart stop, thoughts running through my mind.
I am 577 years away from the start of canon? What the fuck system! That is far further back than I would have thought… The System said a few hundred years! Not over half a millennia!
A feeling of rage and fury start to boil up, fists clenching around the table splintering the hard wood easily under my grasp. My heart begins to pound hard in my chest, my blood rushing through my muscles as the veins along my arms pulse.
Skill Primal Rage Activated!
My muscles ripple as my face contorts in rage, teeth clenched hard enough to crack under the stress. Before I am able to do anything else a hand rests on my shoulder breaking me from my thoughts. Finding myself standing with my chair knocked to the ground. The Rage reverting to a dull anger, looking at the recent notifications I get a general idea of what had happened.
Primal Rage Leveled to 3!
Sin of Wrath Perk gained!
Sin of Wrath – This sin is the manifestation of Rage, fury and anger. For humans such a thing is seen as a bad quality. Though among Devils sins are greatly accepted and often provide benefits to those who harness the purest form of Wrath. This makes the holder quicker to anger than most, though can be suppressed with effort and focus. In situations where the holder is in a state of deep anger, all stats will increase by 100 until the anger fades.
I swipe away the message before looking to the hand on my shoulder seeing the source being a worried Sebastian. I offer a weak smile of thanks as I take a few deep breaths calming myself down.
"Forgive me Sebastian, it was wrong of me to lose control." I say making him frown.
"Could your sin have finally made itself known, Lord Aemon?" He asks in thought, a brief sweep through my memories shows that I had yet to display a sin, considering I was bedridden most of the time it never had surfaced. I doubt that is the reason for my gaining it now as it is most definitely related to the skill that was just used.
"You must be right. Sin of Wrath it seems…" I say making Sebastian nod.
"It looked like it was a strong one at that, it may be your primary sin. You know I always thought you had a bit of Sloth myself. Considering you did often find yourself in bed for long periods of time." He says jokingly as I chuckle in response.
"Thank you, Sebastian, I actually have one more question before you leave." I say making Sebastian look at me.
"How long ago was the Civil War I can't really remember the exact number." I ask making Sebastian answer without delay.
"It was 24 years ago, a year before you were born if I remember correctly. Just in case if you were going to ask the Great War ended about 5 years before that." He says as I give my thanks before, he disappears. I bend down and pick up the chair and sit back down in my original spot.
Well, it has become rather apparent that some of the abilities of The System and more namely the Berserker can alter the state of mind for a short period. While the buff is absolutely incredible it does make me go into a wild rage, perhaps through training and getting used to the effects I can eventually remain in control.
I will have to run some more controlled tests…
I Sigh as I rest against the now damaged table, I absentmindedly tap my fingers on the table thinking about my game plan for tomorrow. Serafall with be arriving most likely around mid-day giving me a bit of time to prepare myself beforehand. I will need to convince her that I am a worthy addition to the 72 Pillars while simultaneously earn some trust, considering I was formerly a part of the Old Satan Faction it may be a bit hard to come by.
An excellent first impression is paramount to the ease of my success in climbing the ranks. I will most definitely start out as a High Class Devil considering my status as a Pure Blooded Devil. Though the rank of my House is another matter, I am what it will be given but I can offer a bit of knowledge about the Old Satan Faction something I am sure The 72 Pillars will jump at.
There are also a number of ways that I can increase my status namely being Contracts, Military Accomplishments and Rating Games. I would rather not have to complete contracts to be honest, Military Accomplishments just doesn't seem feasible since I am pretty sure there are not any more wars for quite some time after the Civil War. The Rating games seems like the only option, but since from memory the Rating Games hasn't been developed yet.
I am actually not even sure that it has been created yet considering the Civil War had only happened two decades ago. I would wager that the Evil Piece system is currently being invented my Ajukas or a relatively new and recent thing. Now that I have a generally idea of when the Great War happened I might be able to change early events and turn them more in my favor.
The relationship between Sirzechs and Grayfia should be in a very early stage or even at the point where feelings are starting to spark. If I can intersect somehow and take Grayfia for myself as my Queen. This may be a tall order, but I think I can make it happen.
Now I also need to think about my peerage members, considering I am now in a time where many famous warriors in history once lived. I could start there. The date is the twenty fifth of May in the year 1431, who can I potentially add.
Hm…
Why do I get the glaring feeling that there is an opportunity here that I can't seem to remember? Who was living in 1431, someone incredibly prominent and influential for the time?
Holy shit Joan of Arc!
THE Joan of Arc, if I recall correctly, she actually should be getting sentenced to death soon. Like really soon, like in 5 days, holy shit. This is an incredible opportunity; I will be pissed if I can't obtain a set of Evil Pieces before then. If the girl Jeanne is supposed to have the spirit of Joan of Arc. Considering her power level, the original is no doubt something even more impressive.
Excitement begins to build in my chest, my anger at my situation all but forgotten. If anything, this is a great gift, I can pick and choose many great warriors in time as my peerage. Well at least from 1431 to Canon, but 577 years is a long time to pick quality members. By the time canon rolls around I will be so powerful it will be disgusting. The Satan's and all the stronger Devils right now, they are strong as fuck yes but they grow lazy in peace, not gaining any stronger as time goes forward.
If anything, they grow rusty and weak, and I will only keep getting stronger. I stand up out of my seat as a Cheshire grin forms on my face at the opportunities ahead. My muscle soreness forgotten as I rise my hand in the air.
"Create ID…"
Comments and concerns:
[Locnar4556] - No stat points are gained to allocate, the only source is through a hard number that is added through each level. What specific stats that are increased are purely based on the class type, or through training a specific stat.
[Tyrant Overlord Killidia] – Regarding Issei's involvement in the story, it will be nonexistent until the canon timeline comes around. Considering it is over 500 years away it may be a while. Also, I truly dislike Issei as a character, that is just my personal opinion and I don't think he deserves any of the girls that were in his harem. If they are taken from him in the far future, it is what it is. If you don't like it nothing will stop you from dropping the story in leaving.
[Xx-noobslayer69-xX] – Ok first I will mention that it is so fucking annoying when I have a reader comment a concern that was already answered in the literal first author note. My answer will never differ from what I had already explained, but I will do so one more time. Every single thing that is left to chance like Gacha or for example the perks he got and the flaw he got from a chance like encounter. It was completely coincidental that when I rolled it landed on that specific Flaw, I had around 20 flaws and 20 perks to dip from. I hope this answered your question, and for future reference before you have a question please look in my author notes and see if it isn't answer there.
[dudepotatos] – Nope everything I roll and get from pure chance will stay as is and I will continue on with the story.
[RakhaKun] – Not sure when I will put up another chapter of Re:Birth, haven't really written anything for it lately and to be honest I kind of lost my interest in it.
[Dbot15112002] – I agree, I am not a big fan of Issei. Every time I see him, and he opens his mouth to spew some weird shit I cringe. His absolute fixation with breasts and how some of his powers are even surrounded with the concept of breasts was kind of entertaining at first but it quickly turned annoying.
[Bimboom] – The part that had the individuals tied up when he left the ID was a part of the original story after I finished it, but when I reread it I didn't really like the direction it went so I went back and changed the last half of the chapter, that little part you saw was my error in not removing it all completely when I thought I had. But rest assured I removed it almost seconds after I saw your comment, thanks for the mention.
[Ivan Tridelan] – I agree completely with your view of Issei, I really just hate him. I pretty much was over his character on the second episode of the anime. The only reason why I stuck around and like High School DxD is because the universe is so interesting. Regarding MC and his… spotty knowledge in the DxD universe with apocalyptic events, I was more intending it to be believable that he didn't know simply because, his memory may be spotty considering that he didn't get every memory back or at least it hadn't surfaced yet when he selected his world. In regards to Katerea's relationship with Nero, I personally believe it to be highly logical. Considering they had been together nearly their entire lives. Who wouldn't form an emotional attachment, then we also have the fact that Nero's presence in her life could have completely changed the nature of her personality since in canon as far as we know she didn't have a Nero around the majority of her life and was most likely deeply brainwashed during her upbringing but seeing as someone she cared for wasn't treated that well by the Old Satan Faction it may have shifted her loyalties. But that was just my thinking behind the situation.
[Poolverine] – The honorifics where remnants of the story before I changed the time, considering now Nero is in 1431 he most likely wont be using those at this time since the involvement in japan is not nearly as close as it is in canon but I fixed it.
[TehStorm] – I explained Katerea's behavior in Ivan Tridelan's answer, it just made sense to me. The Sickly perk was not intentionally put in place for plot reasons as I have stated numerous times it was a RANDOM thing that happened and I adapted to it and changed the story as I went to mesh well and make sense.
[Crywolfseven] – The list of Gacha items I made had quite a bit of the "useless" items or some that had use but not necessarily important, an example of one would be the indestructible iPhone with unlimited service and battery. A great item? Yes, but useful? Not really. I will consider adding more things to the pot to balance things out.
[LordHostStriker] – I will take your tips in consideration, usually I just start writing with a generally Idea and make it up as I go. I don't really plan much to be honest, but I will see what I can do about the underwear thing.
[Stealthkug] – I honestly have no idea what the reference is with nightingale from fate grand order, I looked it up and I still don't understand. If you could enlighten me do so.
[Sorre] – We do the perks and flaws roulette because it gives the story an interesting element, not only for the viewers but for the writer too. It is fun to immerse yourself in the story while you write and gaining some level of unpredictability while you write makes it more fun to write when you generally know everything that is going to happen before it happens, bottom line the unpredictable element is fun, so deal with it or leave. Again I will say just how much it fucking irritates me when a reader types some comment about something I had already answered in my authors note before you had even thought about how dumb or stupid it was thinking it wasn't a by chance thing when I had literally stated it was something that the character gained by chance. So EVERY perk he gained through the Roulette before he entered the DxD universe was gained completely by chance, ex. Genius, Lustful, Sickly, and Loved by Lady Luck. I am not going to explain Katerea's behavior with Nero because I answered it in Ivan Tridelan's comment 6 responses above this one.
[Inritus] – Some of your questions where answered in this chapter regarding the Psychic class, regarding his strength I will have him get pretty strong but if I feel he is getting stronger than he should be I will balance it out as needed to make it not too ridiculous starting out, even though I feel like I am at the cusp of it right now with his progress this chapter but trust me it was even crazier before I balanced some things out. Yes Katerea's behavior is definitely OOC from what it was in canon but I felt it made sense considering there circumstance, if you want some more info about it read the response for Ivan Tridelan's comment. I will definatly read the D&D 3.5 and Warhammer for some ideas on classes and what not, it was hard enough for me to create what he already has as of right now.
[ArchonCelestia] – That was my error since it was a remnant of before I changed what time he was into what it is now. I fixed it so it shouldn't be a problem for future readers.
[Eighty8] – I assure you it wont turn into a smut shitpost. For the answer to your second comment read the one above this.
