[Sorry for the update spam, I just needed to fix a few errors I made. One being in the description below, not sure why I said that the Evil Pieces were something that caused the civil war when I know it didn't. The rest was spelling and grammar. Chapter 4 however will be uploaded today so stay tuned!]
Hello all, everyone seems to be enjoying the story so far, some great constructive criticism has been given. To which I am grateful for, it helps me improve the story in quality greatly. A big concern for some of you was his class choices, mostly out of them being so diverse and polar opposites and hardly complimenting each other at all. So, I hope that this chapter helps explain our main characters reasoning for choosing the ones he did.
Okay now as something I want to clarify before anyone gets upset, that being this is Fanfiction. Some events are going to be different in this world than it would be for the original DxD universe. One thing being is that Grayfia and Sirzechs have not entered a relationship yet. Yes, I know that in canon they were seeing each other during the Civil War, but not in this fic. Why may you ask? Because this is my Fic and I want it to be that way. Also, with the Evil Pieces, this is a new thing that hasn't been created until recently, Considering I couldn't find anything that really suggested that the evil pieces were actually created during the time of the Civil War. I just decided they were going to be made only recently, I feel good about this decision considering the nature of the evil pieces seems like something that would be difficult to create and at least take some time, whether or not you are some mega genius like Ajuka.
If you don't like these changes and can't handle reading forward in the story, welp that's too bad. Hopefully, you find something else that fits your specific expectations.
Anyways I hope everyone enjoys the chapter!
[System Speaking]
"Thoughts."
"Speaking Aloud!"
"ID Create…"
New IDs unlocked after the completion of the beginner ID [Zombie], New IDs are as follows.
[The Great Forest]
[The Great Desert]
[The Great Sea]
My smile threatens to split my face as I see the new options. Choosing the first one, making reality change before my eyes. Something that is starting to become a norm. Trees, large trees the size of skyscrapers holding the thickness of an upright bus. The leaves and branches extending outwards so much so that I can barely make out the sky, let alone the sun because of the sheer density.
The sound of nature practically screams in my ears, the amount of life permeating throughout the forest making itself known. A dramatic difference in relation to the Zombie Dungeon that only held a deathly atmosphere.
Something I learned in my last delving was that It seems the names of the dungeons shouldn't be taken lightly. My meaning being that they might divulge in the type of opponents I could face and what manner of attacks I can expect.
This is just speculation of course.
The Zombie dungeon of course held Zombies, but it also held far more terrifying undead creatures ranging from just a walking corpse to a Lich King, something I could confidently call the King of Death if he truly caused such devastation and influence across the seemingly endless city.
I could only imagine what this forest holds, judging from the average size of the trees I could guess that there are some large creatures lurking about.
Perhaps even some of colossal size…
I decide to scout out the forest a bit in hopes to gain a bit of information. Sprouting my Devil Wings and taking flight upwards dodging the branches before bursting through the leaves and up into the sky. A vibrant blue sky and puffy white clouds scattered about, looking around I notice that as far as I can see there is only trees, rather mountainous areas as well. Some peaks reaching well into the clouds. Though I do notice scattered about that there are plumes of smoke billowing out into the sky signifying some sort of fire.
Campsites perhaps?
But to who or what they belong to is the true question, for a creature to create something with the intention being a campsite brings me to think that they have some level of intelligence. That itself is already increasing the potential threat level of the creatures, this suggests that they are somewhat organized and capable of strategy.
These are just guesses of course and I wouldn't know until I got a closer look.
As a precaution I cast Second skin on myself before remembering that I also still have Stealth activated and had actually leveled to 12 already, its only been about an hour since I activated it. Most likely attributed to all of the xp boosting items and perks I have.
Flying towards the closest plume of smoke before quietly descending, careful to avoid making any noise. Upon getting closer I hear the scuttling of many feet and harsh high pitched crackling sounds, like voices almost. That are speaking a language that I have never heard. Dropping onto a branch and peering down I am momentarily surprised as I easily identify these creatures.
"Goblins… Hmph" I think as I study them, if I were to guess at first glance there is about 3 dozen Goblins buzzing around, walking inside and out of worn-down tents. Wearing crude leather, most if not all only wear it around their genitals. Though a few seem to be wearing it around their chest area as well. All do without a doubt carry a dagger like weapon or club with them. I do however see a few with makeshift bows and quivers strapped across their backs.
All the tents surround a large bonfire, the source of the smoke that drew my attention, a tent catches my eye that looks noticeably bigger than the rest around. Almost as soon as I eye it more carefully a giant muscled Goblin, no… Hobgoblin pushes open the flap carrying a giant club.
I Cast observe on creature.
Title: War Chief
Name – Hobgoblin
Level - 112
HP – 20,500/20,500
MP – 3,800/3,800
STR – 276
VIT – 205
DEX – 47
INT – 16
WIS – 19
CHA – 12
LUK – 46
So, this Hobgoblin is the leader of this little camp. Well, it makes sense since he is much larger and stronger than the normal goblins in comparison. How should I approach this I wonder? I could probably go down and just cast Devastating Blast and clean most of them out at once.
Or I could just go in loud, causing as much destruction as possible. Or I could do it quietly and eliminate the War Chief before he becomes a problem. I can certainly adjust the invisible blade down to the size of a dagger and wield it. Bringing an unknown element if I happen to get caught and must turn to fighting in a not so silent manner.
Surveying and using Observe on most of the basic goblins I deduce them all to be at an average of low 30s to high 50s in level. All have an average of around the 40s for their base physical stats. The only outlier in both departments is the War Chief, the only one I can say would be a challenging one on one, even worse so if I engaged with him and the goblins at once.
I would be overwhelmed quickly…
Rubbing my chin in thought, attempting to come up with a plan. A moment later a smirk forms on my face. I concentrate on a log inside of the bonfire and use Telekinesis to throw small pieces of burning wood into nearby tents, A minute later a smoke begins to begin to push through their flaps before they quickly erupt in flames.
It only takes a moment for the goblins to notice and begin to provide something akin to effort in snuffing it out. With most of the Goblins distracted with the fires, I search for the War Chief once again to find him barking out orders at his underlings before turning and walking back to his tent.
Quickly switching my class to Assassin to make sure that any kills I make gives the experience to that class. Keeping Stealth active before I begin to jump branch to branch keeping myself hidden in the leaves before finding myself above the War chief's tent. Looking around I see that all of the goblins are distracted by the fire giving me the perfect moment to drop down undetected.
In only a second I fall to the ground before landing on surprisingly steady feet, quickly I peer into the tent through a small tear. Intending to see the current position of the War chief, my eyes narrowing in on the Hobgoblin sitting down on a pile of pelts fiddling with something in its hands as its back faces me. I bring up my invisible blade and silently cut the threads holding the patchwork tent together, creating an opening big enough for me to squeeze through.
Knowing that no matter what I won't be able to squeeze inside without making some sort of noise, I look around the inside of the tent intending to find something that would provide just enough of a distraction where I could squeeze through and leave him none the wiser. My eyes locking onto a stack of wooden bowls, all dirty with remnants of grime and rotting food.
I use telekinesis to subtly knock them over creating enough noise to draw his attention and mask the noise of my entry. Bringing myself low and flipping the Invisible Blade in my hand into a reverse grip, I quickly drive the blade into the base of its skull severing the spinal cord and for good measure, I lengthen the blade causing it to pierce through exiting his throat before twisting it and lacerating the various arteries in its neck.
Withdrawing the blade with a quick clean pull before the War Chief flops over to the side gurgling on its own blood before it bleeds out and dies a few seconds later.
Hobgoblin x1 killed!
[15,000 ex gained; 10,000 credits gained. Giant War club gained!]
Assassin Class leveled to 7!
Way of the Assassin leveled to 3!
Stealth leveled to 17!
Skill Lethal Strike gained!
Lethal Strike (Active) [Level 1] – A precise attack aimed specifically for a vital point in the targets body dealing undoubtedly fatal damage if not treated quickly. Skill can be used with any manner of weapon. Upon successful completion of the skill on the target, bleed damage is inflicted upon the target.
Base Damage – 5,000
Damage Overtime – 500/s
Cost – 1,000
A slight tingle washes over my body in response to the change associated with the added stats from the levels gained. I feel a bit lighter and a prickly sensation washes over my face and skin. Deciding not to linger I quickly extract myself from the tent carefully hiding myself before leaving the camp and bringing myself back up into the trees and peer downwards, watching once more.
The Assassin class seems highly effective with dispatching a single enemy as expected. Deals an extreme amount of damage quickly but not meant to function as a warrior of attrition. Favoring for short explosive bursts of effective death. Now with the War chief out of the way I can more comfortably test out the capabilities of the Berserker class.
Switching to the Berserker class as I drop down, this time noticeably less graceful with stealth no longer active. In its place I activate clairvoyance, a strange form of perception overcomes me. Almost confusing at first but I quickly adapt, shaking my head as I walk forward, stretching and flexing my muscles, my shirt and pants tearing. I take the moment to extract my feet from my slip ons and setting them aside.
At this point, the goblins have noticed my appearance, and no doubt found their leader's body. I watch with amusement as they all point and screech at me. A goblin with a bow nocks an arrow and fires it in my direction, a quick flash in my mind tells me it is aimed for center mass.
With surprising speed, my hand shoots up and catches the arrow in midair.
Chuckling as I twirl it in my hands before launching back through the air and striking the goblin in between the eyes as it drops dead. This making the goblins charge, I cackle loudly as I meet them in the middle throwing a flurry of punches and kicks, each connection crushing bone and tearing flesh.
The well of power within me increasing as more attempt to swarm me, I feel myself getting faster and stronger, every moment, every attack I see before it happens. Due to the sheer number of attacks at once I don't always deflect or block it but ensuring my Second Skin stays up removes the possibility of injury.
Coming down to the last 5 as they hopelessly try to run, I only bend down and pick up a hand full of pebbles and throw them at them with extreme force, the spray of pebbles carving numerous holes throughout their bodies before they drop in a heap, blood pouring from their injuries.
I let out a sigh in seeing what's left of the camp, now in ablaze. Dead goblins lying all over in their own pools of blood. Interestingly enough these creatures don't disintegrate and disappear as the zombies had. Perhaps it is because they are living and not undead?
"Well, it matters not. I still get loot and xp either way." I think to myself as I shrug.
Goblins x38 Killed!
[19,000 xp gained, 7,600 credits gained, crude leather x24 looted, Crude Iron dagger x5 and Makeshift Wood Bow x1 Looted!]
Berserker Class leveled to 19!
Way of the Berserker leveled to 9!
Looking down at the bow, I immediately recognize it is too small for me to ever use, the daggers themselves are not even comparable to my Invisible Blade. If I get a crafting class, the most use they would provide is being extra material.
Well, it seems that as suspected the Berserker Class is highly effective against many enemies, or more like armies. The more targets I am fighting the stronger I seem to get it. Between my Berserker Class and my Assassin class, they are polar opposites, that is precisely why I chose them, they complement each other perfectly.
I now have a hammer and a scalpel at my disposal.
I have one specializing in the annihilation of my enemy and their army out in the open, the more targets the better. The other is a silent death encroaching on an enemy, one they never know until it's too late.
Not everything is about being an unstoppable force destroying everything in its wake. Information gathering and fighting within the shadows is equally necessary for success.
These two classes are perfectly suited for their uses, and even better that my Psychic class pairs and meshes outstandingly with both, as I have proved just now. For example, applies necessary protective measures, creating distractions and even a weapon that I can change the shape of at will, not to mention being invisible.
It is impossible for an enemy to gauge the size of a weapon that is invisible and everchanging. You could say it is the perfect weapon, for both the Berserker and the Assassin.
More so the Assassin in my opinion.
These Goblins are considerably stronger than the Zombies, as they should be considering the Zombie ID was the beginner zone. If this this the weakest enemy, I am curious what the Boss of this Dungeon could be. Something terrifying no doubt, though it does fill me with a bit of anticipation.
I guess I could farm out a few more camps before going back…
I should get back soon though; I need to have a suit prepared for my meeting with Serafall. Since it is a suit something that isn't around nowadays, I will have to go through the specifics with Sebastian. If there is anyone that can get something like that in short notice it will surely be him.
I put the thought aside before taking flight into the sky searching for the next camp.
XXXXXX
Sitting down on my bed with a towel around my waist, a pleased smile gracing my face. My gaze shifting down to an admittedly better-quality suit than I would have expected. The color overall is black with a slate grey undershirt, a black vest and tie as well as black dress shoes. All frighteningly well-made and finished in a matter of hours.
Sebastian has outdone himself.
That aside I had gotten carried away with my slaughter of goblins and raiding of camps. I took out 5 of those damn things, leveled my Berserker and Assassin skills a bit but I can already see the progress slowing. Though it isn't bad enough to look elsewhere, I figure I repeat the process a few more times before I start getting nowhere with my progress.
I let out a sigh as I think about my upcoming meeting.
Serafall has yet to make her appearance, but I expect it to be at any minute. But I have a bit of time to kill. I thought I could use a little of my Gacha Tokens. I don't want to use them all right now more like 5, so here goes.
Iron Sword – A well-made sword, nothing special but will get the job done. Well in most cases that is…
Damage- 500
Peter Heinlein's Silver Pocket Watch – The first Pocket Watch to ever be created, the watch and the chain attached are created from pure silver. The gears inside this watch just seem to tick forever. Perfectly imitating the concept of time moving ever forward. The watch always displays the correct time.
Kryptonite – A green glowing crystalline material originating from the planet Krypton. It weakens Kryptonians and can potentially kill them with long term exposure. Can be used in crafting.
NotePad – A simple black college ruled notebook with 200 pieces of fresh paper. Still has the fresh factory-made scent.
Auriel's Bow – A exquisitely crafted bow of Elven origins, arrows are no problem for this bow. Not requiring an actual arrow and will use the user's mana to generate arrows made of light.
Damage - 8,000
Cost - 1,000
Kryptonite is effectively useless for me, I guess I could just keep in on me until I get around to entering the DC universe or if I ever enter the universe. The iron sword may just be extra crafting materials and the notepad will just be tossed in the inventory and probably forgotten. Auriel's Bow however is a fantastic item, though it isn't that useful to me until I take on an Archer type class.
The watch though really catches my eye.
Taking the item out of my inventory and holding it in my hand, audible ticks sounding. They feel oddly soothing to listen to, never deviating and keeping on a perfectly consistent rhythm. It even feels comfortable in my hand. In the world of watches this item is a priceless artifact. The first ever created pocket watch belonging to the person who invented the item.
Though its creation in this universe at least won't occur for another 80 or so years. There isn't anything glaringly special about the item but the last line in the description almost makes me want to believe that isn't the case. It says that the watch will always display the correct time, considering the systems knowledge is pretty absolute. This just suggests that whatever time zone I am in, the pocket watch will display the current time in that area.
I like it…
This I think is the only item I have ever received from the Gacha I truly like and find use in, at least thus far. It will go perfectly with my suit I reckon. Turning and setting the watch next to my set aside suit as I stand and move to the edge of my bed where my clothing sits.
I spend the next few minutes meticulously putting on my suit, ensuring not a single wrinkle is present on the clothing. Sliding on my tie and tying a perfect Windsor Knot, before sliding on my vest and buttoning it up. Bending down and retrieving my newly acquired pocket watch and fitting it on my vest before sliding it in the front pocket. Finally, I slide on my suit jacket before rolling my shoulders, gripping the edge of the jacket and giving it a light pull to clear it of wrinkles.
Turning and looking into the mirror as I take in my appearance, the suit fits incredibly well and in fact is quite comfortable. The dress shoes providing no discomfort, checking my hair and fixing any flat spots or unnecessarily spiky areas. Finishing as I give myself a nod before giving myself a few sprits cologne after deeming myself presentable.
Almost as if on cue Sebastian appears to my side before taking in my appearance, a slightly confused look on his face. No doubt because of my choice in style, I don't blame him this fashion doesn't come in for another few hundred years. But I don't think it will matter, I may look a little strange, but fact of the matter is…
I look outstanding.
"Lord Aemon I am curious how you had come up with such a… different idea for your style of clothing. Though I can't lie and say I don't like it, in fact I find it a little exotic and different. It definitely draws the eye… In a good way, I suppose." He says as I give a smile.
"That's the point Sebastian, I want my encounter with the Satan Leviathan to be memorable… the good kind of course." I respond as he gives a nod.
"I am sure you have nothing to worry about, in fact, our guest has arrived she is waiting in the common area. A little impatiently it seems…" He said making my brows slightly narrow. I don't answer for a moment as I give her behavior a thought.
"Thank you, Sebastian, I will meet with her immediately." I say as he bows before disappearing. Taking a deep breath preparing my mind before I move to meet with Serafall.
"Here goes nothing…"
XXXXXX
The echoing of my shoes permeating through the long hallway until I find myself in front of the door, the room on the other side holding Serafall Leviathan. I steel myself before pushing it open and entering the room, the other end holding two couches separated by a table. One end a young woman sits, while another stands to the side of the couch as if standing in respect at my arrival. The familiar woman is in an elegant grey dress standing by with a cold expression.
The young woman sitting seems to look like an older version of the Serafall in canon, a noticeably serious expression adorning her face. As I walk closer putting a pleasant smile on my face, I cast observe on the two.

I mentally nod at the stats of both women, just as glaringly strong as I expected. I do find it interesting that Grayfia had already started with 10 affection though.
"It is a great pleasure to make your acquaintance, Satan Leviathan. Could you please introduce me to the fine young lady here?" I ask turning my gaze to Grayfia.
[+5 affection gained from Grayfia: For not disregarding her presence.]
[+5 affection gained from Serafall: For showing respect.]
"This is Grayfia Lucifuge, she used to be a part of the Old Satan Faction like you before defecting and joining the 72 Pillars. I thought it would be beneficial to bring her along, she is well versed in dealings with other Clans." She asks holding her serious demeanor as she gestures to the woman beside her. I watch as Grayfia gives a slight bow that I reciprocate before we both take our seats.
"A pleasure to meet you Lord Aemon. I hope my presence today isn't unwanted?" Grayfia asks with a hint of a frown forming before I wave off her concerns.
"Nonsense, I welcome you into my home. Would either of you like refreshments or something to eat?" I ask looking at the two as they give nods.
"Tea would be appreciated." Serafall says before almost immediately Sebastian appears with a platter holding three cups of tea and a pot. I give my thanks before I grab a cup and sip before placing it down on the table. Sebastian moves a few feet to the side before standing still, waiting for a moment requiring his assistance.
"Now on to business… I trust you already know my intentions on joining your Faction?" I ask as they both nod in agreement.
"Great then my question would be, what would it take for my house to be accepted under the wing of the 72 Pillars?" I ask simply flickering my eyes back and forth between them. A moment of silence passes before Serafall answers.
"The 72 Pillars you will find are quite accepting of new Houses to join us, the only problem is your prior involvement with the Old Satan Faction and a matter of trust." She says as I nod at her point.
"A good thing to look out for no doubt, but my situation is most likely different than most. I assure you I have no attachment to The Old Satan Faction; in fact I would say I have a burning hatred for them." I answer before taking another sip of tea as they both look at me clearly curious to the story behind it.
"Would you mind explaining?" Grayfia asked curiously as I set down the cup.
"Well, it starts pretty early in my life. I was born with a weak constitution and was often bedridden, despite have a high potential for growth. Though as a devil, the Old Satan Faction couldn't see past the glaring taint of my poor health. They initially intended to force my parents to put me to death, to which they vehemently denied of course before they were able to convince the Old Satan faction to let me live but only under the supervision of someone else. This continued on for a while until rather recently, when my family decided it was time to defect. Our family was unable to handle the faction's antics only for them to find out and attack my entire family killing them all until only I remained. Thankfully, I was able to escape, all credit goes to my loyal servant Sebastian. Finding myself with no other options for the survival of me and my clan I reached out to you in hopes to gain some level of protection. That leaves us where we are now, I hope that was a sufficient explanation regarding the reason why I am not fond of the Old Satan Faction." I say as silence takes over the room as both the women think on my words.
"I see… I am sorry to hear of what happened to your family. I couldn't imagine what I would have done should the same thing happened to me. It shows a strength that you carried on as you have, deciding to keep moving forward instead of wallowing. I would even say I admire you." Serafall says with sincerity in her voice as I give her a smile. Grayfia frowns as she gains a thought.
"You say you were born with a poor constitution and bedridden the majority of your life. I would never think such a thing is possible given you look like something of a physical icon of Devil kind." She asks confused as she takes in the condition of my body.
"Well, that is where my prodigal potential for growth comes in. I managed to train my body from the ground up, actually even combating my illness and becoming stronger than I ever imagined possible." I say making the girls' eyes widen slightly.
Their thoughts clouded with the idea of such a talented devil, considering the research they did all of their sources pointed towards my apparent lack of good health. But seeing me now cemented the idea of me telling the truth of how strong I had become in a short period of time.
"Anyways with hearing my story and seeing as I don't pose any threat to your faction if anything I would say it is the exact opposite. I plan to give my all for the furtherment of the 72 Pillars if you will have me." I ask looking at Serafall as she looks conflicted for a moment.
No doubt thinking just how good it would be to have a devil of such caliber in the clutches of the 72 Pillars. Hell she could even be thinking that if my words were true I have a good chance of becoming an ultimate class devil, even a Satan given enough time.
"Welcome to the 72 Pillars, Lord Aemon." She says as she comes to terms with the potential benefits of having me in the 72 Pillars. I meanwhile inwardly grin, I was hoping one of the two would ask about why I look so healthy considering my bad physical condition throughout the majority of my life. That was a good opportunity to show my potential as an ally, I was able to come back from my weak body in a relatively short time. Who's to say what I will become in the future with nothing holding back my growth?
"Thank you. With that I must say that I also have a friend that intends to join with me, she does have a bit of knowledge of the inner workings of the Old Satan Faction. It should certainly be a boon for the 72 Pillars in the future." I say pleasantly making their eyes widen slightly.
"That would be great, is this friend of yours around right now? I would love to speak with her." Serafall says as she leans forward with interest, I put on a slightly remorseful expression.
"Unfortunately, no, she had gone back her home to take care of some affairs before fully committing to join the 72 Pillars." I say causing Serafall's excitement to die down some.
"Right, now that you are Officially a part of the 72 Pillars, I would like to extend this offering of good will. As you know with the recent Great War and the Civil War following soon after the number living Devils are at an all-time low, dangerously low. With our poor fertility rates, reproducing is not going to be an effective means of increasing our numbers once again. A solution to this problem was recently solved by the Satan Asmodeus Ajuka. He had invented what we called Evil Pieces; this enables a High Class Devil to reincarnate humans as devils. This set-in fact is the first edition created by Ajuka." She said retrieving a wooden case at her side and placing it on the table before turning it to me and opening it. My internal excitement roaring to an all-time high in anticipation at receiving my own Evil Pieces.
Peering inside I see a chest set, all the pieces being a blank white color much to my disappointment. White isn't really my color, as if seeing my disappointment Grayfia chuckles.
"Yes, the Color is quite bland, but to make them yours you just smother them in your demonic energy, and they will change to something more fitting for you." She says before I follow her instructions and lift my hand and hover it over the pieces. Channeling my mana into the case, a deep black wispy energy that bares a freezing chill. Like always it comforts me as I relish in the feeling.
The Pieces glow for a moment before they themselves turn to a pitch black color with the same black wispy energy radiating off of them. A smile graces my face at the sight, this is more my speed. The two girls in front of me nod in approval at the sight.
"You have strong Demonic Energy, could it attribute itself to your family's inherited power." Grayfia asks looking at the pieces in slight awe, a bit of confusion crosses my mind. Strong demonic energy? Their reserves are both much larger than mine, perhaps mine is just incredibly dense. Based on my stats and perks nothing should really explain why it appears as strong as they say.
"Maybe. You know of my family's ability?" I say giving her a curious look, Grayfia gives a small nod.
"Yes, before coming here I took the liberty of researching all known accounts of your family and what is known of your Clan Power. I hope that doesn't offend you, I understand that Clan abilities are often a closely guarded secret." She says with an undertone of nervousness, an only raise an eyebrow while I smile. So, she took interest in me, eh? Watch out Sirzechs I may just steal your future woman after all.
"It's no problem, if anything I find it quite flattering to know you went through the effort just to learn as much as you could about me. In fact, my power is probably as simple as it gets, much like the Satan Lucifer's if I were to make a comparison. Here why don't I show you." I say picking up the Teacup and drinking the remaining fluids before showing them who are now rapt with interest. Activating Decay, I watch as the cup, begins to disintegrate in a fine powdery grey sand. As if the cup had aged a millennium in a single second.
"Wow. It is similar to Sirzechs' power of Destruction, though from my understanding it requires physical touch for it to work?" Serafall comments looking at what was left of the cup on the table.
"Yes, that iteration of my clan's ability, but recently I had managed to take my family's power to new heights. None before me from what I understand have achieved it. Though it is far too dangerous for me to do it here, let alone inside my home." I say apologetically as the two girls noticeably deflate in disappointment. Their interest of my powers grown considerably.
"I see that is too bad. Anyway, all you have to do now is grab the King piece and press it against your chest. If you want to resurrect a human, all you have to do is place the desired piece against their chests in a similar fashion." Serafall says as I follow her instructions and pick up the King Piece before pressing it against my chest, watching as it fazes into my chest a feeling of strength courses through my body.
Peerage System Unlocked!
[The First King] Perk acquired!
The First King – A privilege only awarded to those who have command of a peerage of various powerful entities. This perk grants total control of those in your peerage. Each Evil Piece grows in potential with the master and has the potential to change into a Mutated Piece. This Perk gives the holder an extreme boosts their power.
Kings Wrath (Active) [Max] – Grant the user a buff ability that multiplies their power by 100 for a short time. All of their stats are increased dramatically along with the effects of their skills, though upon use there is a drawback that effectively cripples the user for a week. A debuff befalls the user that restricts access to their mana reserves and reduces all Stats to a tenth for a single week. If the skill is activated while the user is already under the debuffs effects death is possible.
Buff Time – 5 minutes
Debuff time – 1 week
My eyes widen at the new skill, its power incredible but the draw backs equally terrible. This is truly a last resort buff, death being the only other option. Though I can't lie and say I am not curious about what it feels like to be effectively a god for 5 minutes. Though the trade off to becoming a literal ant for a week doesn't seem appealing.
"Considering the Evil Pieces are quite new, forgive us for not really fully understanding the properties of the King Piece before giving it to you." Serafall says as I wave off her concerns and accept the gift. I would be stupid to deny this, I recognize this from canon, they actually gave me a King Piece and didn't really understand what it was.
During Canon only 9 were ever made, each giving the user the ability to multiply their power by anywhere between 10 and 100. Giving them the potential to give a regular High Class devil the power of an Ultimate Class or even a Satan. Though if it is used on someone who is too strong already, they can face an overload and potentially die.
Though I am sure I can find a workaround to negate or even lessen the side effects.
"Well now that we have all of the pleasantries aside it is time to talk business, this is what we expect of you while are a part of the 72 Pillars." Serafall says as Grayfia takes out a butt load of documents and contracts placing them on the table. She then proceeds to discuss the taxes of their territories and other boring business shit.
This will only end after another two hours of discussion. I managed to gain a bit more affection with the two putting Serafall at 25 and 40 for Grayfia.
I sign the last piece of paper after thoroughly reading what it says making sure there is nothing fucked up in the writing. This is the kind of stuff that gets you in eternal service, only because you didn't have the basic competence to read the document before signing it.
"Well, that is everything, are there any questions you have before we depart." Serafall asks as she gets to her feet.
"Well yes, actually I have two. What would be the rules regarding humans and our interactions with them? I noticed that not much was spoken of that as we went over the rules." I asked curiously.
"As of this moment, the rules of engagement with humans are quite lax and we don't really have any restrictions with how you deal with them. The only thing I would say is don't get unnecessarily involved with human affairs. Yes, there is no problem with walking among them here and there just don't do anything crazy." She says making me nod.
"And the last thing?" She asks after a moment.
"Yes, if you don't mind could I ask if it would be alright for Grayfia here to stay for a few days and teach me a little about your society, namely the dos and don'ts. Since I was bedridden most of my life, I was unable to attend gatherings or learn proper etiquette. As you said earlier Grayfia is well versed in clan dealings, she would be a great teacher I am sure of it. If it wouldn't be a bother that is?" I ask turning my gaze to Grayfia as a stunned expression graces her face. A moment of silence ensues before Serafall turns her gaze to Grayfia.
"I will leave the decision up to the woman in question, I on the other hand have some affairs needing attending to. If you choose to stay and teach Lord Aemon, just send a letter and give us the proper notification of when you will be back." Serafall said before teleporting away, leaving me and Grayfia alone.
"If you decide to stay, my home will be completely open to you. I will also be indebted to you if you help me, anything you desire I will be more than happy to make it happen." I say laying it on thick, just in case, she is thinking of refusing. While yes, I do need to learn about Devil customs and culture, I am mostly asking for her to stay so I can get closer to her if you couldn't guess.
This is looking good so far considering her Affection gain was quite large over the last few hours. She seems noticeably far more comfortable with me now than she did when we first met. I watch as she relaxes and offers a smile and a nod.
"I would be happy to teach our ways, though I must pack some clothing for my stay. Could you give me a few hours to prepare?" She asks as I nod and give a smile.
"Of course, take all the time you need, I have something I must do in the meantime. If I am not back by the time you arrive, I will instruct Sebastian to prepare you a room and that you can do what you like until I get back." I say as she nods as we both bow in respect before, she departs in a teleportation circle. Picking up my Evil Pieces I immediately put them in my inventory. The safest place I can imagine them being, no one but I can possibly get them out. Maybe The System could but I don't see why it would.
Taking out my stopwatch and looking at the time I see that it is already the afternoon. The ticking in the watch mesmerizing as I watch it for a moment before setting it back in my front pocket. I take a breath, thinking about how I will approach Joan of Arc and turn her to my side.
I could just forcibly reincarnate her, but I would rather it happen on good terms. Wouldn't want to have an insubordinate servant just because I was too hasty.
I think I'll just wing it and see how it goes.
Now for my other concern how am I going to get there? I see that teleportation magic is pretty common. Let's see… remember… remember what the concept of teleportation magic is… It seems it operates on the will of the user and the desire to go somewhere else. Alright, I guess I will just channel my demonic power and think really hard where I want to go.
Here goes nothing…
Channeling my power and thinking about going to the Castle of Bouvreuil the current place where Joan is being imprisoned. A black wispy magic circle forms beneath my feet and a blink later I feel as if I am pulled somewhere else.

Almost immediately a dank smell fills my nose, darkness all around and the sound of water dripping echoes off of the stone walls. I find myself in the dungeon area of the castle, if the cells were any indication. A guard sitting against a chair on the other end of the hall, looking to have dozed off some time ago.
Looking to the cell to my immediate right only to find that the cell is empty, I sigh as I continue down the hallway. The sound of my shoes hitting the stone floor producing an eerie echo. The guard's head shoots up in my direction seeing my approaching figure. Unable to identify me his hand immediately grabs the handle of the sword on his hip. I only look on in amusement before opening my mouth to question him.
"Wouldn't have any idea where I would find a person of the name Joan would you?" I ask as I get closer, the light off of a nearby torch illuminating my appearance. The first thing the guard notices is my overwhelming height, then my interesting clothes, and finally my piercing red gaze that sears into his soul.
"Who in God's name are you?! How did you get down here?!" He shouts in my direction as he unsheathes his blade, I stare indifferently as I just activate second skin. My apparent lack of fear and silence making the guard point his blade in my direction.
"Guess I am not gonna get my answer from you." I say walking before decapitating him instantly with the invisible blade. The guard's body slumps to the ground as his head rolls. I step over him while peering in each sell until I stop at one, this time finding a figure curled up in the corner of the cell. Their head lifts up in seeing me, inspecting the face I immediately recognize it being a woman. A rather beautiful one at that…
Leaning against the bars as I get a good look, definitely wearing male clothing. This is her, though a glaring thought enters my mind, Confusion, and shock.
"They really thought you were a man?" I ask bewildered, nerves setting in the woman as my gaze rests on her. Her eyes turn cold as she looks at me.
"You come here to mock a dead woman." She says harshly as I raise an eyebrow and a grin forms on my face.
"You still got spirit in you; I am impressed. After being confined in a place like this with all of the poor treatment you no doubt faced." I say looking at her as she narrows her eyes.
"What do you want…" She says as I chuckle.
"I would like to offer you your freedom and revenge, surely you despise those who had put you where you are?" I ask as she eyes me suspiciously, the spark of hope does seem to appear in her eyes.
"How about I just take you out now? Hm?" I say as I grab onto the barred door and break it off the hinges with ease, startling Joan as she looks at me with wide eyes. Throwing the door aside before stepping out of the way gesturing for her to step out.
"Though, there is a catch of course." I say just as she is about to cross the threshold of the cell. She stops and looks at me with a bit of anger and scoffs.
"I shouldn't even have gotten my hopes up. Go on what are the conditions." She asks in an irritable tone, I only give a smile before answering.
"Let me just give it to you straight. I want you to serve me. Though I understand it sounds like you would be trading this prison for another, but it won't. I am a Devil; we are able to resurrect humans into Devils. You will be granted power above any human, and immortality of course. All of that for the little price of servitude, to which you will be treated fairly and have a great amount of freedom. If anything, this is the greatest opportunity that could have fallen in your lap." I ask as she visibly weighs her options.
Sure, figuratively selling your soul to the Devil was something highly against her beliefs, but long imprisonment and the terrible treatment she suffered in captivity has marred that faith in humanity and God. That I can see clearly, she has developed a hate for humans. Considering she is even thinking about accepting my deal suggests all of these things.
"I accept…" She relents before exiting the cell, as my grin widens. I grab her arm gaining a confused expression before I teleport outside to flatlands with a perfect view of the castle. She gasps at the sudden teleportation, letting her go as I gesture to the castle that had held her for so long.
"What is your verdict, should they die for holding such a holy woman in contempt?" I ask looking down at her for an answer. Her gaze hardens as she clenches her jaw, her fist curls up.
"Yes." She says as my smile turns insidious. She is truly more damaged than I thought. Perhaps a year ago this answer would have been unthinkable in her mind, but now she openly wishes for the deaths of thousands.
"Then it will be done, now watch as this castle falls." I say aloud as I turn my gaze to the castle, a mental frown enters my mind. Now, how the fuck do I bring this castle down in such a spectacular fashion.
Maybe with Telekinesis?
Could try refining my control down to my current limit, which is 360 lbs, which could make it where I have a total of 360 pounds of pressure per square inch over a large area. Though this level of control will be difficult, I think I can do it.
Taking a breath as I raise my hand and thrust my will upon the entirety of the castle, the strain already taking its toll as a throbbing pain enters my head. The earth beneath my feet begins to rumble, distant cracking sounds from the stone in the castle. Though even with pushing my limits it still doesn't fall. Flexing my powers even harder than before as a growl escapes my throat, my jaw clenches and my teeth creak.
The rumbling intensifies and gets stronger as I push even harder, something in my head snaps before an unfathomable pain sears through my head. The castle finally giving way is it collapses along with the nearby village houses. Almost like a sinkhole sucks up the buildings into the ground as they crumble.
I drop my hand as I exhale before grabbing my head in pain, blood leaks from my nose, eyes, and ears. Stumbling on unsteady feet as I check my status seeing for anything wrong.

[Breakthrough occurred for Telekinesis Level increased to Max, would you like to upgrade the skill Telekinesis? Yes/No?]
Fuck I literally turned my brain to mush for pushing myself to an extent like that. It felt like someone just dug a knife directly into my brain, though it is interesting that I can achieve a breakthrough with skills. Thankfully I heal quickly, or I may have died… Though I maxed out the skill because of it, it was worth the pain at least.
It would be a good idea to try not to push myself too hard with future skills, who knows how devastating the effects could be if I push harder than my capabilities allow. I Steady myself and let out a breath before massaging my forehead. Looking at the message I mentally press accept to upgrade the skill.
Absolute Dominion (Active/Passive) [Level 1] – All things bend under your will; you demand control of all. Grants the user the ability to move anything around them with absolute efficiency, no longer being restricted by the objects grants the user a higher sense to those around enabling them to feel everything in their vicinity.
Range – 50 feet
Cost – 1,000/s
As soon as the skill appears my senses immediately sharpen, I feel everything around me for a good distance. My mind doesn't even feel overloaded from the sensory information. This is a great ability, well worth the aneurysm.
I didn't level up my class from those kills, perhaps the humans were just too weak that not much xp was given from their deaths…
Testing the new skill and grabbing a nearby rock, I immediately notice that pushing my will in an object is practically effortless compared to before. I no longer feel the strain, only the pull on my mana now. Feeling almost everything bending to my will is incredibly intoxicating.
I relax as I turn to a gaping Joan as she looks at what's left of the castle. Her body begins to shake before maniac laughs start to escape her mouth. The insanity of the situation overwhelming her no doubt. She seems to be far more broken than I thought, well whatever.
"Observe…"

So, this is the capability of a hero amongst humans. Pretty impressive if I say so myself, her stats were higher than mine when I was reborn into this body. Mine though was most likely stunted from my illness, but still impressive nonetheless. I watch her as she calms down a bit, a mad smile on her face before she turns to me. With a frown and a slightly concerned look on her face, I suddenly realize that I still had blood running out of the orifices on my face.
"Are you okay?" She asks before ripping a small piece of her shirt of and offering it to me. I answer as I take it thankfully, before checking if my new suit had gotten blood on it.
"I just pushed myself a little too hard, never attempted to reduce a castle to rubble with my mind before. As you can see, I strained myself a bit…" I say chuckling a little.
"You're not gonna die, are you?" She asks frowning, I only laugh aloud before a confused expression adorns her face.
"Something as simple as this couldn't kill me, I assure you. I heal quickly enough for it not to be a problem, though if it had been anyone else, they would have surely died. Now shall we get on with our deal?" I say wiping the blood off of my face before throwing it aside onto the ground. Turning to her I look down at her, a serious expression filling my gaze as I watch her fidget.
"You are not perhaps, planning to back out, now are you?" I ask as my tone gets harsher, my eyes glowing slightly as she pales and shakes her head adamantly.
"I wouldn't even think of it, you had saved me. I will honor our deal…" She says bowing lowly as I smirk and pull out a black Pawn piece, the same dark wispy energy radiating from it. As Joan rises her eyes land on the piece with a look of fascination.
"This here is what will give you power and immortality, just stand still for a moment." I say as she turns rigid, I let go of the piece as I will it to float to her chest. Watching as the Pawn piece fazes into her chest, for a second nothing happens. Her eyes begin to droop before she falls unconscious, I catch her with my absolute dominion before teleporting us back to my castle.

Appearing in my room as I float Joan over to my bed and rest her on it softly. Sebastian already in the room as if waiting for me to return, I look at him before humming softly thinking as I look down at Joan.
"Sebastian this here is Joan D'Arc, please get her cleaned up and a new set of clothes. Also prepare a room for her to stay in indefinitely. As of right now she is to be a member of my peerage. I expect for her to be treated fairly; do you understand?" I ask as he brings a hand to his chest before bowing.
"Of course, Lord Aemon, it will be done immediately. I also wish to tell you that Grayfia Lucifuge has arrived and is now in a guest room I have prepared for her." He says as I walk past him as I exit the room but not before responding.
"Thanks Sebastian wouldn't know what I would do without you." I say placing a hand on his shoulder in appreciation before exiting.
Walking through the halls as my footsteps echo, my head finally clearing, and the pain was now gone. For me to take this long to heal I really must have done near fatal damage. Though the control I have now felt absolute, like everything around me is just waiting to be molded in my hands, eager to follow my command.
This is the second skill that had been upgraded, and the second time I received an incredible ability. This consistency really just makes me want to max out all of my skills as quickly as I can. Though it will definitely take some time to achieve it if anything it may be beneficial to master my current skills that I have now before taking on a new class. At least upgrade the skills before continuing and taking on another.
I should actually think about who I should add as my next peerage members, someone who like Joan was living around the 1430s and up. Let's see, we have Sasaki Kojiro, Musashi Miyamoto, Vlad Tepes, and a few more I am sure. I could probably look on the store and purchase companions, though I am unsure.
In fact, I guess it would be best to check while I make my way to Grayfia's quarters. Bringing up the menu and selecting store before searching for companions, this brings up an absurdly long list all bearing names of different historical individuals that are placed in a companion gem. That when used summons that person with full obedience it seems, while some of them are cheap others are ridiculously expensive.
Some easily traveling upwards in the hundreds of millions for their sheer level of power. Though as I skim through pages upon pages of different names, I see many that are while relatively weak in the grand scheme of things but have the potential to gain incredible strength.
That is if I can take them in the IDs and cultivate their strength that way. Though if I do obtain a warrior that is far before my time, I will have to come up with a valid excuse as to why I even have them. I guess I could have them go under the alias of a different name, could just say I obtained a sacred gear that lets me summon people from the past.
Probably would be easier to just have them go under a different name, at least until I am strong enough to where I am just simply too untouchable to be questioned. Geez, just thinking about how to spin an excuse until then is just too much trouble. I may not have to even use an alias, given I doubt that Devils really even know too much about human's history. Especially in this day and age considering how difficult it is to find information of the past nowadays.
An Alias does seem like the best option, however. Maybe shortened versions of their names? Fruit for thought.
Now let's see…
We have a few that I am interested in, those being Beowulf, Heracles, Achilles, Leonidas. These people while being incredible warriors and possibly the greatest of their time are not necessarily incredibly powerful. Greatly skilled yes, probably bordering superhuman in capabilities. In the DxD universe, this doesn't mean shit, but I think they have the superb potential for growth. That is if I can bring them into an ID and essentially power level them to absurd lengths.
I also simply don't have the credits to purchase those like Gilgamesh, whose prices are easily breaching the hundred millions. These warriors though will cost me just about everything I have left save for about a few hundred thousand credits.
I sigh as I select all of the companion gems before hitting purchase.
Would you like to Purchase the Companion Gems Beowulf, Heracles, Achillies, and Leonidas for 9,750,000 credits? Yes/No?
I mentally select yes as I watch my balance deplete and the gems enter my inventory. I could honestly say I feel pretty good about the decision, these warriors will be excellent peerage members to cultivate until I can gather the next individuals. Those being Vlad next then Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. Since Vlad was born literally this year, I will give him a few decades to do his thing before making my move, the same for the other two. So, I have plenty of time to get myself settled and strong.
Closing out my status as I arrive at Grayfia's door, how I know is that I can feel her in the other room. It's like I can gather a perfect image of her in my mind, no doubt due to my new sensory abilities. Currently, she is placing her clothing inside her dresser drawers and her personal hygiene items in their respective places. It seems she had just arrived, thankfully I didn't make her wait too long.
Lifting my arm and knocking the door a few times before bringing it back down to my side. Feeling around the room, I chuckle a little as I see the knock startled her slightly. She releases a breath before straightening out her dress and making her way to the door. As she opens the door, I give her a pleasant smile that she reciprocates.
"Lord Aemon? How did your business go? Good, I hope?" She says before gesturing for me to enter, I oblige and step through the doorway as a surprised expression already adorns my face. The room seems to be personalized already, as well as incredibly clean and tidy.
"I see you moved in well… I am glad that Sebastian took such lengths to make it as presentable as it is. In fact, it almost looks better than my own quarters." I say nodding my head in appreciation, out of the corner of my eye I notice Grayfia shuffles slightly at my evaluation.
"Yes, it was exceptionally clean when I arrived, but I took the liberty of tidying things up further. I guess you could say I have a passion for cleaning." She says with a bit of a cough, a barely noticeable blush forming on her cheeks as I raise an eyebrow.
"There is no shame in doing something you like; I understand the passion. I myself like seeing things clean and tidy like this, I prefer it really. Maybe I should hire your services, I am sure Sebastian would appreciate the help." I say with a chuckle as she giggles back.
[+5 Affection gained from Grayfia Lucifuge: For not making fun of her interests.]
"I guess we could work something out… Though I must say I don't come cheap." She says jokingly as I give her a charming smile.
"Name your price…" I say as she stiffens, a slight stutter escapes her mouth.
"Surely you're not serious?" She says nervously as I approach closing the distance. My height towering over her as she stairs upwards at me.
"I have never been more serious. Anything you want I will make it happen, if you do decide to make your stay at my home permanent you will be my complete equal. You will be treated fairly and paid generously, that I assure you." I say with a sincerity that shocks even Grayfia as her mouth opens and closes unable to form an answer.
"Well, this is a big decision, that I understand. Instead, why don't you think about it. In the meantime, how about, we get started with my lessons." I say purposely not giving her the time to answer. Of course, she was going to deny my offer, but by not allowing her to answer I have now let the idea brew and swim around in her mind while I continuously butter her up and get closer to her.
Considering I have quite a bit of time with her it should be easy enough to get close to her. I probably became the equivalent of good friends with her in a single day, who knows what I will get if I have a week to work with her.
Looking down at her as she relaxes at the change of subject, slightly uncomfortable with the last topic. She takes a breath as she moves to her bag and takes out various materials.
"It is a bit late, but I guess we can get started with the basics before we begin in full force tomorrow." She says with a comfortable smile as I walk the table in the room before pulling out the seat for her, her smile widens slightly as she sits, and I take my own seat next her hers.

Perk Maids Beloved Master gained due to reaching 50 affection for Grayfia Lucifuge!
Maids Beloved Master – All maids and female servants alike gain an increased rate of affection towards you. 50% increased affection towards servants of the opposite sex.
I mentally cackle as I look at the notification, Grayfia none the wiser. "Seems like stealing this woman's heart is going to be easier than expected."
