"Lady Kagome, we can't—"

But the feline had no time for regrets.

Or fear.

Hushing her life long companion, she continued to pace in her room. Tail swishing in thought, pointed ears twitching in concentration, and delicate claws ran through her unruly hair as she considered her plans.

"He will kill—"

But he wouldn't.

Thinking of the Alpha of the Western domain, she hissed at such a suggestion. Kill them? No. Surely not. He wouldn't dare.

But would he be upset?

Livid.

Plopping herself on the bed while observing Buyo panic, she wondered what the Daiyoukai would do with the discovery of her escape.

Would he give chase?

Or simply abandon her?

The thought of such a powerful alpha chasing after her made her tail flicker in want. If he did pursue her, what would such a thing mean?

The wolf had not done so.

So why would the dog?

It had been months now and not a single word from the prince that had all but assured her of his love. Yet, just like that, he had let her go.

"Wolves give chase to things they desire. Do you understand what his absence means?" The Daiyoukai had taunted her as realization set in that the Eastern Lord would not be coming for her.

"Perhaps, you are not worthy to fight for?"

It had stung. But, she supposed that had been the exact reason for his words. To ensure that she had given up hope and such ridiculous notions about the wolf.

Instead, the feline persisted. Like all curious cats, she refused to let such a mystery go without answers. She had to see for herself.

"I see you have mastered your glamour."

She knew the comment for what it was. False praise and an attempt at a distraction from thoughts of past events. But, being the proud kitten that she was, she relished at his notice of her accomplishments. This recent one had been her newest conquest.

Her cat ears.

For the longest time, she had wondered why she had cat ears and the others had pointy ears.

Sesshoumaru.

Koga.

Even Buyo.

Then, the ice lord himself had explained it to her after mumbling under his breath about something to do with feline curiosity.

"You are mastering your form. Once you have, it will resemble those that are aged and have a full humanoid form."

It sort of made sense. Get stronger and finish the form you will take. But even still, the feline let out a word that she knew would drive the dog to eventual madness.

"Huh?"

Sure enough, he huffed under his breath and she could have sworn she saw him roll his eyes.

"Your ears."

Yes, yes. Her kitten ears had twitched at being addressed, and briefly, she wondered if she could, in fact, keep them.

But, perhaps the pointed ears were more helpful in their own way?

Curiosity set in again.

"How?"

This time, the Western Lord did not even bother looking up from his scrolls and texts.

"It is for you to discover. Your next test, feline. Now, go. Bother someone else."

Letting out a low yowl of irritation and an angry swish of her tail, the feline stomped out of his study without so much as looking back.

Ever day, he used that phrase

"Bother someone else."

And everyday, she grew to hate it more.

Apparently, the dog did not realize that neglected felines did not stay put for long. They knew their worth and understood that they could find better company if the current ones did not appreciate them. But as his words echoing in her head, she smiled at the realization that she was going to do just that.

No matter the cost, she would indeed escape to bother someone else.

Rarely had Sesshoumaru the Lord of the Western Lands been proven wrong. Yet, the wretched feline had all but made it her life mission to ensure such things.

"Pups require a hundred years of education and to learn their control." He had told her.

Yet, the blasted cat had somehow proved him wrong.

Every instructor he provided her with had come back with the same update.

"She had finished her lessons, my Lord."

One by one, each instructor had written of her progress after only mere months.

Political study for pups? Completed.

Demon history? Excelled and memorized.

Martial arts? Mediocre, but finished.

She had by no means mastered anything, but she had received glowing marks for completing the education that pups undertook in their first hundred years. So, he had given her another challenge. With irritation at being proved wrong and her constant desire to be around him, he had given her the impossible.

Noting her ears, he had told her to attempt to finish her final humanoid form. If nothing else, it would keep her away from him for perhaps a few years and more importantly, keep her from discovering things that were not for her eyes.

But instead, the temperamental cat had made him look like a fool once more.

Walking in, in the middle of a council meeting no less, she had come up behind his chair and place at the council table with a sultry purr. Not muttering a word, she had rubbed her face against his cheek with the present Lords gawking and then proceeded to move a hair strand before her very pointed ears.

He had tried to warn her with a growl and halt the immediate display of affection that would be misconstrued by the royal members present. Instead, the confident and oblivious cat simply smirked and silently left the room as if nothing had happened.

Except it had.

Every grown Lord at the table that had mastered scents could smell her desire wafting from the room in waves. More importantly, those with only the most sensitive of noses had picked up on another the moment the door closed.

His.
