Demon Slayer AU

(A/N: I own nothing and it was just a little blurb that hit me so I had to write it. Maybe a bit OOC.)
Tamayo was in a frenzy. She had on and off pains over the course of her demon life and hadn't known why, not even after the pain was so bad that she had passed out two years ago give or take a few months. It was only after she had met Tanjiro that she had found out why she felt those pains.
Tanjiro who was able to see spirits and let them be seen and touched and spoken too for a moment or two. Tanjiro who had let Tamayo see her husband and children again. Tanjiro who had let her realize that one of her children had survived when she had returned home and gone nuts after being turned into a demon. Tanjiro who had let her see her descendants that she had never known she had.
So it hadn't taken long for her to realize that those sharp stabbing pains she had felt were when her descendants were on the verge of death or dying. She could feel when each of her descendants were gravely injured and on deaths doorstep.
So you can imagine how frantic she was when she had felt a horrible stabbing and bursting like pain that started small like a throb in her chest before it suddenly became so painful that it had nearly brought her to her knees with tears in her eyes. And you can imagine her shock and horror when one of the Ubuyashiki crows had found her that night and nearly begged her to come to the Butterfly Estate because Tanjiro was in very bad condition after using a healing technique on the entire Ubuyashiki family.
Tanjiro who had along with Nezuko given her back some hope. Had made her feel happy for a little while when Nezuko had considered her human enough for the spell she was under to work. Tanjiro, whose injury had coincided with when she had felt that horrible pain.
Tamayo had near frantically packed up all of her medical and science equipment with a confused and alarmed Yushiro and they had set out for the Butterfly Estate at their highest speeds. Thankfully they were actually pretty close to the Estate so they made it there before the moon was even in the center of the sky and Tamayo had maintained enough of her sense to not break through the walls or windows of the Estate.
"Where is he?" Tamayo demanded as she looked around alarmed when she came across a large group of Demon Slayers, including all but one of the Hashira and the entirety of the Ubuyashiki family.
"Tamayo-sama. Welcome to the Butterfly Estate. I'm sorry you didn't come here under better circumstances." Kagaya said nodding and giving her a small bow that the other Slayers copied. Nezuko however had ran straight for Tamayo and nearly tackled the older demon as she hugged the woman around the neck.
"Hello Nezuko-chan. It's nice to see you too. But where is Tanjiro-kun? Yushiro-kun and I need to go and see him so we can help." Tamayo's voice was a lot softer and even motherly as she hugged Nezuko back and then stroked the girls hair back.
"There! In there." Nezuko immediately pointed at the door and Tamayo smiled softly at her and kissed her head, making Yushiro nearly blow a gasket, before she swept into the medical ward with Yushiro on her heels.
"I'm Tamayo, I'm a doctor." Tamayo said immediately ducking under a book that was thrown at her when she entered the room.
"Good get over here and help." The Insect Hashira didn't even glance up at Tamayo, having thrown the book on reflex since she was used to Rangoku or one of the other Hashira poking their heads in, as she continued to treat Tanjiro.
"I need exact details on what happened." Tamayo said as she washed her hands and put on gloves just in case.
"He used a healing technique to remove and reverse a curse placed on my husband and children. After he finished healing all of them he began coughing up blood by a large amount." Amane said her eyes not moving from the boy in front of her as she changed out the wash cloth on his forehead.
Tamayo's eyes narrowed at that and she nodded once as she approached the unconscious and raggedly breathing Tanjiro.
"Yushiro! Grab a syringe and draw some blood. I need to examine it." Tamayo barked at her assistant who immediately did as he was told and then handed her the vial.
"We applied two blood clotting medicines in order to slow down the blood and try to get it to clot and heal some naturally. It seems he busted almost every blood vessel in both of his arms and hands except for the biggest ones." Shinobu said without looking away as she checked Tanjiro's left arm by looking through the Transparent World to see all of his organs and blood vessels.
Tamayo drank some of the blood, which caused both of the other women to look over in alarm and disbelief, and Tamayo nearly choked on it.
"So that's what he did." Tamayo rasped out after coughing the blood back up into the sink, much to Yushiro's alarm.
"When he used the Sun Style Healing he focused the Sun ability through his arms and hands in a high concentration. He pushed the power of the sun into his very blood cells to the point where it burned me when I drank just a small bit to analyze his blood." Tamayo said massaging her cheek slightly and wincing at the pain in her mouth.
"The amount of power was too much for his body to handle, especially since this is such a new and rarely used technique so he isn't used to it. That's why most of his smaller blood vessels were burst by it. It seems his body's own self preservation instincts is what kept his major vessels from bursting as well." Tamayo said and Yushiro immediately fetched their equipment and began to search through it for something.
"But that rattling in his chest…" Tamayo furrowed her brow and braced herself as she took a small sip of Tanjiro's blood again, wincing in pain as she did so. Scanning it as quickly and thoroughly as she could Tamayo's eyes widened.
"Shit. So that's what happened." Tamayo said just as Yushiro appeared with her stethoscope that was almost never used unless she needed 100% accuracy.
"He couldn't completely erase the curse, the sun burned through most all of it but the rest… he pulled it into himself. That's why his major blood vessels are still intact but his chest is rattling. The technique healed most of the major vessels on its way back in through his chest until it reached his…left. Yes his left lung where he settled the curse in so that it wouldn't reach his heart." Tamayo said putting the stethoscope to Tanjiro's chest to see which lung in particular was rattling.
"He what?!" Amane demanded in horror. She had seen how the curse plagued her husband, to think that this boy took the curse onto himself willingly and forced it into his own lung…
"He can't get in a good deep breath to heal himself even if he was conscious right now and that's not even considering that he might not even be able to heal himself. Yushiro-kun. Get me a syringe!" Tamayo ordered and he immediately had a clean sterile syringe in her hand. Rolling up her sleeve, Tamayo put the needle into her own arm and drew a small bit of blood.
"He has a high fever right? That's probably from the left over Sun Breathing he has in his blood that's both trying to fight the curse like an infection and trying to burn itself out of his system." Tamayo asked glancing over at Amane who switched out the rags again and nodded before calling Aoi to bring more fresh cold water.
"What do you think you're doing?" Shinobu demanded when Tamayo moved over to Tanjiro's left arm and quickly located his main vein in his arm.
"Unlike Muzan I can't turn people into demons unless I use a lot of blood, but I have found that using a small amount of my blood would temporarily increase the healing factor that all humans possess. Using a little bit like this should speed up his own healing process to get the sun rich blood to burn out the curse in his lung and hopefully lower his fever as well since it'll use up the suns power." Tamayo explained as she easily inserted the needle and injected the small amount of her blood into his system.
"Yushiro prepare to draw some of your papers in case my blood doesn't take effect quick enough. You'll need to try and make his brain think that the blood belongs there." Tamayo said to her assistant who immediately took out some paper and some inks to draw the necessary seals.
Tamayo immediately drew some more blood from her arm just in case and then lowered her kimono sleeve. She couldn't give him too much after all.
"We need to still keep cold water applied to his forehead until his fever breaks, but we should loosen up a little bit on the blood clogging so that we can observe how the healing is going." Tamayo said to the other two women who nodded slightly while Shinobu drew some blood from Tanjiro to examine later just in case there was something else she could do to help him if this ever happened again.
"You two can take a break if you need to. Yushiro-kun and I can watch over him until sunrise." Tamayo said smiling up at the two women as Yushiro brought over a chair for Tamayo.
"He healed my husband and all five of my children at risk to himself. I'm going to stay and make sure he recovers." Amane said making Tamayo nod her head in understanding.
"I'll let the others know what's going on and get Amane-sama something to eat but then I'll be right back." Shinobu said moving towards the door and Yushiro just quietly brought over two more seats beside Tanjiro's bed.
It was roughly an hour from dawn when Amane gave a relieved smile as Tanjiros' fever finally broke, thirty minutes after his chest had stopped rattling.
It was thirty minutes from dawn when he blinked his eyes open slowly and gave a small smile as he looked to the side and saw the two human women who looked relieved and tired to see him awake.
Turning his head to the other side he gave a slightly wider smile at the sight of a relieved Tamayo and minutely relieved but trying to hide it Yushiro.
"You really scared everyone there little grandson." Tamayo whispered softly as she smiled at him, one hand coming up to smooth his hair back from his forehead and check his fever again in the same motion.
"So you know now? That means you're stuck with the Obaa-san title now." Tanjiro said and Yushiro grit his teeth and shot over with a dark glare but Tamayo gave a small relieved laugh and kissed his head.
"I'm more than fine with that. Just try not to scare all of us like that again. Those two were here before I was and had stayed by your side the entire time." Tamayo said nodding to the other two women who smiled when he looked over at them again.
"Sorry to scare you." Tanjiro apologized with a smile towards them and they both smiled at him, Amane moving his hair back and checking his forehead like Tamayo had. Tanjiro idly wondered if it was a mother thing.
"We're just happy you're alright. I don't think my husband or I would ever forgive ourselves if you had ended up dying because you had healed our family." Amane said softly.
"You all…you don't deserve to suffer like that. I had a way to fix it. Why wouldn't I?" Tanjiro asked with a bright smile and Shinobu sighed slightly before she reached forward and patted his head slightly.
"Next time why don't you do it in short bits instead of all at once? Give yourself a break in between healing." Shinobu advised him and Tanjiro blinked slowly.
"Couldn't. Curse was smart…alive. Do it all at once or…it wouldn't work again." Tanjiro said and he yawned slightly.
"I'm sure you're tired Tanjiro. Take a nap." Tamayo said kissing his head again as she stood and moved to the door with Yushiro. She had to let the others know that he was okay and would be just fine, that and it was close to sunrise so she and Yushiro would have to take refuge from the sun.
"Nap…nap sounds good." Tanjiro's eyes were already slipping closed again as his sister darted into the room and curled up on the bed next to him in her tiny form.
"Sleep then Tanjiro-kun. There's plenty of people here happy to watch over you as you rest." Amane said softly, like she would if she was speaking to her own children, and Tanjiro was a step ahead of her as he dozed off again and this time he was actually sleeping.
Before Amane could even stand and go to her husband to check on him and their children, the doors to the room opened again and no less than three Hashira were walking in and taking up spots as if to guard Tanjiro in his sleep. Kagaya was likely to have been right behind them but Amane frowned when she didn't see her husband. Stepping out into the hallway, Amane smiled softly as she saw her husband awake and sitting on the floor.
The reason that he hadn't gotten up was because their children were curled up on top of him and around him like cats.
"I'm sure Tamayo-sama had told you, but Tanjiro-kun will be just fine." Amane said softly as she moved to her husbands side and sank to the floor beside him and their children, resting her head against his shoulder and smiling gently when her youngest two cuddled into her immediately.
"Good. It'd be bad if we lost our Sun Pillar before he even put on his haori."
