Summary/disclaimer: time for another chapter of Future Endeavor Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Ben Ten, Cartoon Network and a few others do.
(Earth, 18 years ago)
Gwen rolled away and looked at the mutant snake that Animo rode upon.
She sighed and cycled through the aliens on her watch before choosing one she had chosen before.
'Diamondhead.' Gwen mentally recalled her doofus alternate cousin recalling it… Gwen decided on a better name: Turquoise.
Ugh, she recalled that she decided naming her aliens was more because she wanted to keep consistent and not forget every single alien within her watch.
"A mere child? I am being stymied by a 9-year-old brat!?" Animo asked himself as Sapphire charged forward, spraying shards of crystal at the massive crimson beast.
It swung its head at Sapphire, sending her skidding along the ground before she slammed a fist into the concrete.
Sapphire stopped her journey backwards and fired a single shard which knocked the snake off balance when it collided with his eye.
Sapphire blinked at how strong the membrane of the creature was, she'd ask Animo how the genetics of the creature were altered… after she stopped him.
The snake went to surge forward as Sapphire peppered the soft underbelly of the beast with crystal shots.
It had the effect of causing the creature to screech and crash to the ground before Animo growled and beat his fist on the snake, trying to coax a bit more life out of it.
"I'm sure hitting it over and over will get it to crawl back up and fight." Sapphire dryly remarked while Animo looked at the Petrosapien.
That was before Animo's massive cockatiel swooped down and slammed into her.
Gwen was sent sliding along the ground before Animo boarded his beast and it flew off into the night.
"Way to go, doofus, he got away!" Ben got a glare from Sapphire before the Omnitrix clocked out.
"Yeah, no 'thanks for helping me!' you're welcome, doofus! I was kind of busy trying to stop the rampaging lizard from smashing up Washington DC if you forgot!" Gwen pointed out before Gwen began to fiddle with the watch.
It was still cooling down, Gwen sighed. She'd be taking on Animo without backup at the moment.
(Present)
Jen looked at her mother before seeing Danny fiddling with his watch. She sighed and began to eat the ravioli that she had ordered, something she decided to share with her mother.
"So, Jen is still hanging out with Aunt Charmcaster, hmm?" Gwen questioned; Danny nodded before Jen elbowed her brother.
Gwen glared at her daughter, Jen looked at her plate and hummed before wiping her chin off.
"She is. Hope comes by all the time to try and help Jen study… I'm surprised Hope is so trusting with the spell book she used to use as a teen to try and smash you into dust." Gwen sighed and looked at Jen.
Jen had always been trying to prove herself to her mother and father… but Gwen didn't know why, on Danny's 10th birthday, she had used the aliens in her watch to make a watch for Danny.
This wasn't out of parental favoritism like Jen seemed to think. Jen already had combat training by then in the form of karate and Plumber hand to hand.
She had Mason's Necrofriggian powers which meant she could turn intangible and breath ice along with survive in space.
And lastly? She had the Anodite 'spark.' Gwen remembered Verdonna gushing over her daughter and sighed, knowing just how unpredictable and wild an Anodite could be.
And this was a lot more different, her children were growing up in a world with Aliens being super common on the streets. Something she remembered wasn't as common as a teenager.
She wondered how her cousin was doing married to who used to be her archenemy. Gwen hummed and watched Mason plop a tomato into his gullet with amusement.
"Jen is just mad she doesn't have the… ow, that's my arm!" Jen twisted her brother's arm before Mason glared at her and she stopped.
"I'm not mad I don't have the stupid watch, doofus. Auntie Verdonna said I'm super special because I have the 'spark.'" She stated with a beaming smirk.
"Your special with or without it, snowflake… now eat. I paid for us to come here because tomorrow you're going shopping with your mother and she might not be able to celebrate dinner out with the others… now eat, you have to be to bed by 10 if you recall." Mason looked at Gwen and noticed his wife was deep in thought.
He was about to ask what was bothering her before a massive explosion rocked the dinner.
"GWEN TENNYSON!" Mason's eyes widened as a familiar hulking green brute entered the dinner.
"Vil…. Vilgax!?" Mason yelled before the alien warlord noted Gwen and ordered his army of drones into battle.
People screamed at this as Vilgax glared at them through his one good eye.
